　真空管式のPHONOイコライザ・アンプの場合、ヒーターを交流点火すると余程に運が良くない限り、かなり気になるレベルのヒーター・ハムが出てしまいます。確実に静かなPHONOイコライザ・アンプであるためには、ヒーターは直流点火する必要があると考えて間違いありません。

　真空管は案外振動に弱く、その振動が音（ノイズ）になって現われることがあります。これをマイクロフォニック雑音といいます。マイクロフォニック雑音対策を施した球の代表が12AX7Aや6AU6Aです。12AT7や12BH7Aといった高周波球やTV球、そして古典球の多くはそのような配慮がありませんので、球の選定と実装には注意（あるいは覚悟）がいります。

Instead of building momentum by navigating the environment with precision like you would in a linear Sonic game, you’re just running from one POI to the next, stopping each time to engage with whatever you find. The world feels like it’s made up of lots of little tiles that each have something interesting on them, but they don’t fit together in a cohesive way. I tried to look for lines that connected all of the different platforming elements together, but I found everything to be pretty segmented. While the density of POIs keeps things engaging, there’s a noticeable lack of flow between them. The world is dotted with platforming challenges, combat encounters, puzzles, and more, and you never have to go far to find something new to investigate. 真空管の話あれこれ（2）

■真空管はそのほとんどが現在は生産中止、在庫限りの骨董品になっている。加えて真空管には寿命があり、それはトランジスタなどと比べるとはるかに短い。なので（骨董）市場価格ということになると希少品ほど高くなる。特にオーディオ機器の出力管は古いアンプ自身が絶滅危惧種なのでそのような機器を機能させる鍵ということになっており、プレミア価格になっている。よく知られたところでは6CA7、6L6、2A3、300B などが代表だ。個人的には大学時代にギターアンプに使用されていた6CA7（グヤトーン、60W）に思いが深い。よく夜中まであちこちチェックして修理したものだ。もちろん当時既に石のアンプ（主としてヤマハ）は出回っていたけれど、この真空管アンプの歪ぐあい、リバーブがかかった独特の音が石のアンプでは出なかった。特にベンチャーズの速いサイドギターをシャカシャカときった時、何と言うか音が硬い、パンパンと安っぽく聞こえてしまうのだ。低音の明瞭でDFの効いたサウンドは石の方が優っていると思ったのでベースには石の100Wを使っていた。骨董市場では製造メーカーによってグレードがあり、米国・西欧系のRCA（米）、テレフンケン（独）、ムラード（英）などはより高価な反面、旧共産圏諸国である曙光電子（中国）、VOSKHOD (ヴォスホート、露)などはあ��り人気が無い。

そしてさらに同じ西欧・米国系の同一品種でも軍用として陸・海・空軍に納入されていた軍需物資（軍によって決められた管理用コードがついている）の真空管はその品質管理の厳しさから高い評価があり、続いて放送各局、通信用として製造・納品された球にも一定の評価がある。又、その用途がオーディオでそのほとんどがステレオ・アンプになっているため真空管（特に出力管）は互いに電気的特性の（最近ではケースをつけずに真空管がそのまま剥き出しになっているアンプが多いので外見も）そろった２本組が好まれる傾向にあり、特に大出力アンプにおけるプッシュブル回路では特性がほぼ均一に整ったペアチューブの方がより高値で取引される。出力用でなく電圧増幅用でもこの傾向（西欧・米国メーカーの球で互いに外見・特性がそろった２本組が好まれる）は同じで、代表的な定番管、12AX7A、その改良管でオーディオ用に特に開発された6EU7、電圧増幅だけでなく（プッシュブルにおける）位相反転、（低ゲイン出力管用）ドライバーとしても使用される12AU7、12BH7A、マーシャル、フェンダーなどギターアンプに好んで用いられる12AT7など、どの球でも同じである。

マイケルソン・オースチン TVA-1は、初段がECC83（12AX7）差動プッシュプルです。共通カソード側は定電流回路ではありませんが、マイナスに引き込んだ電源を使い、高抵抗で定電流回路に近い動作を実現しています。ドライバ段はECC81（12AT7）を使った半直結差動プッシュプルで、共通カソード側はここも定電流回路ではありませんが、それなりの高抵抗が入れられていますので、立派に差動回路として動作します。真空管というデバイスを、その制約の中でトランジスタのように使っています。回路定数に悩み工夫した形跡があります。流石に出力段だけは差動ではありませんが、それでもこのアンプは他のプッシュプル・アンプとは一味違う音がします。大いに触発され、参考になったアンプのひとつです。
