One of NA’s best LoL prospects could be starting in the LCS next year
Tumblr media
In 2023, the well-known esports league fell short of expectations. However, by bringing up one of the most exciting young players in the area to the main stage the next year, the squad may be beginning a new chapter. Rayan “Sniper” Shoura is a 16-year-old top laner who has spent the entirety of his short career in North America’s tier-two scene, playing solely for 100 Thieves’ Challenger and Academy rosters. He is, however, expected to get his first big shot in the LCS in 2024 by being promoted to 100 Thieves’ main roster next year, according to esports reporter Alejandro Gomis. https://twitter.com/anonimotum/status/1699141128929390817 If Sniper does get the call up to start for 100 Thieves, he would be replacing one of the region’s most experienced and recognized stars, Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho, who recently returned to 100T this summer after a quick split-long stint with Evil Geniuses. This would mark yet another new beginning for the team after it experimented and failed to build a successful roster with superstars like Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng this year. Sniper would also be the youngest player in the LCS, which could put intense pressure on his shoulders. Sniper began his journey on 100 Next, which was the organization’s amateur roster that focused on giving younger players a better environment on the way to professional play, in 2021. He climbed his way through the scene, earning his place on the Academy team a year after his Thieves debut. The young star is also the younger brother of Omran “V1per” Shoura, who has played professionally with a multitude of other organizations. League runs in this family’s veins and Sniper has a ton of potential to become the next big star from NA. Fans have already seen young guns blossom into incredible talents, like Evil Geniuses’ star mid laner Joseph “jojopyun” Pyun. They can only hope that if Sniper makes his debut next year, he can find similar successes in his opening season. Read the full article

Bjergsen to Reportedly Sign With 100 Thieves Ahead of 2023 LCS Season
Tumblr media
10-year LCS veteran Bjergsen will play for 100 Thieves’ League of Legends team next season, according to a report from independent League journalist Brieuc Seeger. Bjergsen, who had previously retired from League following the 2020 season, returned to competitive play this year with Team Liquid. He had only played for one prior organization in his lengthy career, TSM, and will now make the move toward his third North American team ever in 100T. https://twitter.com/LEC_Wooloo/status/1594054029910237184 Bjergsen was officially released from Liquid earlier this month and will reportedly join his second team in as many years after playing just one season with Liquid. This year, Bjergsen was brought onto Liquid as the team’s would-be centerpiece. The team had aspirations to be “a roster that would potentially be the best roster that the region had seen in the last decade,” according to an August statement from Steve Arhancet, the team’s owner. Despite its undeniable “superteam” status, Liquid were eliminated from the LCS summer playoffs in the lower bracket quarterfinals, missing the World Championship by just one game. Even still, Bjergsen had a remarkable season, leading the LCS in KDA during both the Spring and Summer Splits, with marks of 8.9 and 8.7, respectively, according to League stats site Oracle’s Elixir. Bjergsen’s reported move to 100T has been circulating throughout the LCS rumor mill for several weeks, and his name has even been linked to former TSM teammate Doublelift, who could potentially join Bjergsen at 100T. The team’s full roster has yet to be reported, although 100T also reportedly intends to promote North America’s number one overall prospect, support player Busio, to the LCS stage as well. 100T has yet to announce any official roster moves. The entire team’s starting lineup, save for top laner Ssumday, is contracted to the organization through the end of the 2023 season, according to the League global contract database. The team has been making moves in its front office, replacing longtime general manager Chris “PapaSmithy” Smith with an internal promotion of Joseph “JungleJuice” Jang, while also releasing head coach Bok ‘Reapered’ Han-gyu. Whether those coaching and management changes will trickle down fully to the starting lineup at large remains to be seen. Read the full article
