HEY BY THE WAY if you're terrified of mojang's new chat report system that just rolled out, let me introduce you to essential :] it's a cosmetics mod for minecraft (requires forge or farbic to install) that has a lot of neat features, one of those being a messaging system! it uses the minecraft font with a texting layout. it'll also save all of your messages unlike minecraft which will refresh when you close and reopen the game. it also allows for you to send messages anywhere, even if you're on different servers, singleplayer worlds, or haven't even left the title screen yet
Tumblr media
you can also make group chats :0 haven't tested that out yet since as of now i've just got two people added on it KJHFJKDSG
Tumblr media
it also allows you to invite people you know to servers with you OR singleplayer worlds!
Tumblr media
if you're using forge, it's available in a few versions from 1.8.9 up to 1.18.2. if you have fabric, you can get it in 1.16.5 up to 1.19 as of me making this post. no 1.19.1 yet, but i'd imagine with everything going on there probably will be one. the 1.19 update just recently came out, i'm not sure which versions they plan to support

ew, just learned about the scummy chat moderation that microsoft is implementing in the minecraft 1.19.1 update?? like?? potentially getting your account permanently banned from multiplayer servers entirely if a player reports you in chat?? awful.
some of the reasons for reporting someone are so vague too and it's very easy to see how that could be abused. the fact that microsoft said that they're cool with banning innocent people as well (as "false positives") just makes it even grosser imo
i know the feature has been in the bedrock version for years, but i guess a lot of java players were hoping that they wouldn't have to put up with that crap. unfortunately with the forced migration to a microsoft account, we all had to agree to their terms (which are different than mojang's terms) so it's well within microsoft's right to do this sort of thing.
just super scummy imo. especially considering that java has always been the version where people could play however they want without moderation, depending on the type of server.
anyway, so far it seems like the option can be disabled in server settings, but still. i'm hoping that before the update officially rolls out, they get enough backlash that they might reconsider the whole concept entirely.

Wait what happened with Doc
i reblogged the original post with screenshots of his tweets; but basically he revealed he knew who were in charge of the new chat report update in 1.19.1 and that they're awful people who's mistreated him personally, and he really thought about just revealing who they were and throwing them to the wolves as they don't gaf about the community. he also tried everything he could using every contact he had to change the decision on going forward with chat reporting in the new update

any Minecraft experts or whatever, why do people hate the 1.19.1 update for chat reporting? isnt that a good thing? server owners dont want their chat to be spammed or have weirdos say horrible shit so if people see that and report it it helps clean the community. is that not what it is?

ok guys time for me to bully minecraft. The new update 1.19.1 was a mistake on microsofts part. minecraft has broken the trust I and millions of other players have had in it. It was a mistake when added into Bedrock and from what I’ve seen it’s even worse in Java. The chat reporting is incompetent and bans you for profanity even in severs where profanity is allowed/expected or even in private servers. I was banned from my personally run server for telling a friend to “fuck off”. Basic profanity can get you banned. Leave the banning to the individual servers. Banning players for swearing on their private servers is idiotic. Banning players from their own servers that they pay for/maintain is idiotic. Not to mention how easy it is to false report and ban people including large figures. minecrafts own staff stated that “Nothing would change” when we moved into Microsoft-Based accounts. We see now that that was a blatant lie. hell they can even bedrock for kids. Java has always and always should be a place where people can share ideas and speech freely. For years Minecraft was used as a tool to boost free speech and the spread of information, now it is a hallow shell of that. I have seen people banned for use of the word “Night” and many other stupid examples of how broken this update is. I and hundreds of others will no longer be supporting this game. Minecraft has broken our trust and given up the game to sanitized corporatism in giving it to Microsoft. #NotMyMinecraft

Minecraft's Latest Snapshot Updates Chat Reports for a Safe and Non-violent Building
Minecraft is a game to be shared with friends. Bwbf Sometimes, you'll be working together to create something amazing or else you'll be using mods to make Elden Ring and other times, you'll look into online servers to discover what else the internet offers. If you are playing online with other players there are times when things can get messy, and this appears to be what the latest Minecraft snapshot is trying to address.
The Minecraft snapshot 22W24A has been released. It's moving towards 1.19.1 with some bugs fixed, two new features as well as a few bug fixes. Chat reporting is the main feature. This lets you report abusive messages that are being sent in game chat. It's worth noting that the blog states that "any reports made during the testing phase may not be taken into consideration," but the ability to kick out toxic players is a crucial element of any online game which is why this could be an important move.
Chat reporting is available in the social interactions screen. You will need to report chat messages individually and choose the appropriate category. This will keep the system from being misused. You can't create a generic report on a player. You have to specify what they did. The blog says that your report will be scrutinized by a moderation team. There's no way to know what will constitute a genuine and useful report however, it's worth learning the details.
The other major change is that you can now duplicate the amazing Minecraft allay. This can be done by giving them an amethyst shard, however duplicates have an 2.5-minute cooling time. This will help ease the stress around how many mobs of allay there are. Plus, cute things can only be good news, right?
In less official news, we're hugely fond of this Mario Kart mod for Minecraft. It brings the karts you enjoy in Minecraft, but it also includes cool water features.
