ok, guess who has more to say about why I liked Stancy so much this season & where I think the show is going with it? this bitch. I'm late to the party so y'all got my liveblogs but now I'm like, thinking about & processing the season. & yes, I do have thoughts on characters other than Steve & Nancy too it's just that Steve & Nancy are more important. anyway. I feel like as much as it sucked that we didn't really see them interact post-breakup until now, it was almost necessary. They both had to grow & change apart to develop into people who could have a lasting relationship. As much as the love & chemistry were there from the start, they also had to grow as people before they could give each other their all. Also, they couldn't have shared too much screen time before it was their time again narratively because they're incapable of existing in the same vicinity without wanting to jump each other's bones. More below the cut because this got long :)
Steve's development & growth this season was a big theme. He himself outlined it specifically in his speech to Nancy about "crawling forward." Which is huge! In season 1 Steve NEVER would've been so self-aware or introspective. Last season we saw Steve & Nancy on separate adventures, both learning about themselves & growing. Steve specifically, had a lot of growing up to do. And looking out for the kids & becoming best friends with Robin (& accepting her rejection!) was huge for him. He grew into himself in terms of handling his platonic relationships & taking on a leadership role.
Nancy's grown a lot too, she's just not as talkative about it as Steve. Nancy is someone who's very reserved about her emotions. She's not afraid to take risks when it comes to fighting monsters, but when it comes to being vulnerable with another person, I think that she is. I do think that Nancy's romance with Jonathan, & his willingness to talk to her about how she's afraid of becoming her mom - of becoming complacent in life - as well as their adventures in high-stakes investigative journalism together - were important to Nancy's development.
I had honestly come to assume that Stancy was never going to be an endgame ship & that we'd be lucky to see them interact much in the future of the show. But as soon as they saw each other again this season the sparks were flying. Nancy is still not being honest with herself about her feelings or her relationship with Jonathan at this point but right away we see how she's curt with Robin thinking that Steve & Robin are a thing. Then when we really get to see them interact it's clear that all that chemistry is still there & that's why they couldn't interact much during the time she was having her romance with Jonatha. They're each other's first love, & that hasn't gone away.
But the thing is - yeah, they were each other's first love but also - they were never going to work out back then. They were both too immature & unsure about what they wanted or how to go about a mature relationship. This season though, we saw Steve take on a leadership role - something he never could've done in earlier seasons. We saw Nancy dive without HESITATION into the Upside Down to save Steve. We saw how desperate he was to help her when Vecna had her in a trance. We saw how well they worked together in The Upside Down. We saw them LITERALLY go back in time to when they were dating as they fought monsters together in another world.
Then, in the end...Nancy's still with Jonathan (even after admitting her concerns about the relationship to Robin) but the one focused conversation we get between them has him still lying to her, & her defending Steve to him. Not exactly promising for the future of their relationship.
So, here's my prediction for the final season: I think that we'll see Nancy really & truly overcome her emotional hangups when it comes to being honest about how she's feeling & what she wants. Again, Nancy is brave as fuck. The girl investigates murders & fights monsters & dives into hell dimensions without flinching. Something worth noting about Steve & Nancy's visions for their futures - Steve sees himself as a father, & that seems more important to him than any particular career. Nancy wants to go to a good school & have a career, & she does not want to become like her mother, stuck in a mediocre marriage or a life that doesn't fulfill her. Self-fulfillment as well as her education & career are the most important things to Nancy. I've seen some anti-Stancy people say that Nancy doesn't want kids, but she actually never says that so I'm ignoring it.
I think that we'll see more of Steve & Nancy working together & both taking on that leadership role they shared this season & kicking ass next season. Obviously, there'll be some focus on the love triangle. I know some of y'all hate that but I'm not opposed, I love love- triangles & I love drama & the Jancy vs. Stancy love triangle is fun to me. I think that what we'll find is that Jonathan (who I've talked about minimally in this post since it is a Stancy post) doesn't actually want the same things in life as Nancy, & isn't sure about their relationship. This season we saw how the relationship didn't seem to bring him anything but stress. Nancy will have sparks with Steve, OBVIOUSLY, this season has made it incredibly clear that these two are incapable of sharing a vicinity without sparks flying. And, well, I foresee more unambiguous signs of true love (as well as a confession from Nancy) next season! I wouldn't be surprised if Steve almost dies & Nancy gives an emotional confession at that point, which I personally would love :) (as long as it's just almost of course)

Yibo-Official international accounts
Tumblr media
I've gotten a lot of asks about the new Twitter account, so I guess I'll finally address these accounts Yibo-Official has created on international platforms:
Yibo-Official Instagram <- fake?
Yibo-Official YouTube <- fake?
Yibo-Official Twitter <- FAKE!!
Because the Twitter account has been shown to be fake, this calls into question the authenticity of all of them for me. The fan club that shared the Twitter account is the same one that shared the others. Proceed with caution.
However etiquette is still important so I'm going to leave this post up.
Let's talk a bit about etiquette...
International account etiquette
For those who are maybe newer to the fandom or who haven't spent a lot of time on the Weibo supertopics, you might not be aware of the rules and protocols turtles have over there.
Here are the rules in brief:
Never use their real names or tag their accounts.
Nor any other public figure.
Stay 'on-topic' and in your own lane, don't attack others.
Observe and respect top-bottom dynamics.
Don't use other people's content without permission, always attribute.
No feminizing or denigrating, or anything that can damage their image.
No sharing of private information or media about GGDD, no oversexualizing.
No fandom policing or spamming of the supertopic.
No sharing of anti material.
No reposting of content from other platforms.
No spreading of unconfirmed rumors and gossip.
Don't fill the supertopic with unrelated or personal posts.
No unauthorized contests or lotteries.
No merch or sales without admin approval.
There are some people who feel strongly that those rules should apply to international platforms as well. I've always disagreed with that to some degree. I talk about that a bit in this post. However, with GG and DD going more international these rules are becoming more and more relevant to us.
The first rule of BJYX is...
However one of the rules I feel absolutely must apply here as well as on Weibo, is rule #1: Never tag their official accounts or refer to them using their real names.
There are many good reasons for this, but ultimately what it boils down to is,
"what happens in turtledom stays in turtledom."
Everything we do here is for turtle eyes only. When you tag outside accounts or mention/tag their names or initials, you bring others into our world. That crossover can harm GG and DD in various ways.
This is something I talk about in my Fandom Etiquette guide, and it's something I feel very strongly about.
Just look at Twitter, where BXG are often tagging CPN posts, fan art and photo edits with GG and DD's individual names. Look at all the fan wars that causes when solos browsing their hashtags stumble across CPN and turtle fan content. It's completely out of control.
We don't like it when solos tag their hateful rhetoric with #bjyx or #yizhan, and this is why. It invades and impacts our experience of fandom. Please respect the fandom experience of others. Even solos you dislike deserve this courtesy, and as I have already stated, fan wars are harmful. We need to do whatever we can to prevent them.
And it's not just solos we should be concerned about. Anyone interested in GG or DD, when going to Twitter, is likely to browse #wangyibo and #xiaozhan. The last thing we should want them to stumble across is a fanfic prompt about spitroasting, pornographic fanart of GGDD, or CPN clowning.
Respect GG and DD's personal reputations.
It's fine to clown, it's fine to write fanfic and draw fanart - even smut. But it's not OK to make that a feature of what passersby will see when looking them up. STAY IN YOUR OWN LANE.
This is doubly true with their official accounts. Just don't do it.
And this goes triply for tagging official accounts in fandom disputes. Incredibly I've seen this happen on Twitter quite a bit, including solos tagging official endorsement accounts to slander BXG.
Do I really need to explain why that's an insane, ridiculous, utterly disruptive and awful thing to do?
EDIT: And toxic XFX on Twitter are currently tagging Yibo-Official on turtle CPN posts, trying to start a war. As I said in this update, blocking is the best protection for turtles and for Yibo-Official. Toxics can't tag and harass over posts they can't even see.
Bottom line: Just don't tag their official accounts. Don't comment in their account threads with anything Yizhan related - or anything related to the other (i.e. don't mention GG in DD's comment threads, or vice versa). Don't mention their real names in your clownery.
Don't do it.
Stay in your own lane.
A note on authenticity
I waited to post about these because I wanted to be sure they weren't fakes. While DD's fan club did post them on Weibo, I wanted to be doubly sure because of how misleading fakes can be. Especially since there were issues with one of the videos being removed from the YouTube channel (it was later restored).
The release of the Hidden Blade roadshow video on YT confirmed for me that this is highly unlikely to be a fake account. The video uses English captions in the same style as the Chinese ones that appeared on Weibo, which means that whoever added the captions had to have access to the original footage.
The amount of effort someone would have to go to in order to fake that clip, it's unlikely to be fake. They'd have to hunt down all the original clips (if the footage was even ever released previously), edit it precisely and then add captions. Not something I see a faker bothering with.
So while these accounts will likely never be 100% verified, I think we can be reasonably certain of their authenticity.
UPDATE: The Twitter account was a fake, so I think that we need to consider that all of them might be fake because the fan club that shared the Twitter link was the same one that shared the link to the YouTube and Instagram accounts.
Update 2: They are very likely real. I explain why here.
Is Tumblr coming next?
Some people asked me if Yibo-Official will create a Tumblr account. You people are monsters!! 馃槄 No, please no! The last thing I need to worry about is DD's team reading our clownery here! 馃槄
Rest assured, this is highly unlikely to ever happen. Tumblr is far too tiny of an audience to make maintaining an account here even remotely worth it. Especially since most of the people here also use the other major international platforms. There would be no point.
EDIT: Follow-up post here.

Look at me? Look at me.
If you post hate about a fictional character and don't use anti tags? You are trash. You're the living embodiment of fandom's downside, bred of the same ilk as those who harass creators and actors with their ships. No, really. You suck.
It is basic tumblr etiquette. It's a bottom line show of respect. Yes, no one can force you to anti tag, you're not going to get suspended or banned. But don't you dare start crying and making a stink when YOU break the social contract and suddenly find pushback or hate in your inbox. (This is not advocating anon hate or harassment, by the way. You people also suck, and you're cowards to boot.)
I don't care what moral high ground or self-appointed superiority you think you have over other fans. Whatever your argument was, regardless what side of the field you're standing on, you lost all integrity the moment you took up the chum bucket and started tossing. Pathetic bullies and attention-seekers, the lot of you, having the audacity to Surprise-Pikachu-Face when the sharks show up. It's fictional entertainment. (Sloppily-written entertainment, at that.) Grow up and start behaving like a real person. Seek fucking therapy, while you're at it.
"But I didn't know about tagging!"
Fair enough. Now you do.
"It's not my responsibility to tag, it's my blog anyways."
It is your responsibility. Yes, it's your blog, but you are responsible for what you post. That's why the tagging system is there, to be used. Like I said, no one can force you, but it's 100% a social contract. Breaking it yields no real-world consequences for you, true, but that choice DOES affect other people. (Example: If you don't tag a post with trigger warnings, no, you won't get banned, but you easily could have ruined someone's whole day or week or even caused them to relapse with your negligence.) People are in that tag you're shitting on to enjoy themselves and don't want to be accosted by vitriolic tantrums invading their space.
"Idgaf."
See above. If you can't be bothered with the simplest of courtesies, that's on you. You don't have to care, but you are an asshole.
Bonus Trivia: even if you don't tag your post explicitly with X, if you even just mention X, it will show up in that tag. That's why the social nicety exists. If you're shitting on something fictional (character, show, movie, book, etc), use the goddamn anti tag. Examples of these tags include: "anti firstname lastname," "anti showname" "anti seriesname," "anti shipname," "anti acronym."
It's not rocket science and never has been. That being said, if you genuinely don't know and don't understand how the tagging system works? Ask. I am always happy to help you if you're lost in this arena. If you're not comfortable asking me, that's completely understandable and no offense taken - there are many users you can ask, or you can even contact Tumblr Support directly. I'm sure there are plenty of existing threads all over the interwebs too that outline the tagging system and how it works.
TLDR: Quit being dickheads, y'all.
