" you don't scare me. " / from Carol Marcus over at @daretr3ks
Tumblr media
The way she speaks those words out into the air between them - you don't scare me - causes a hint of amusement to bubble up behind a firm sternum; Khan's clear gaze, which had briefly averted seconds ago, trails back to Carol's own about a second later, accompanied by a hint of a knitted brow and a quiet exhale of breath.
---Assessing her. Wondering. Contemplating, even.
Tumblr media
"As long as you don't give me a reason to scare you, Miss Marcus..." That name leaves a bitter taste at the back of Khan's tongue, an oily residue sticking to the roof of his mouth, "...I don't see a reason for why I would attempt to do that."
Even though much people claim he is - Khan actually is not a monster, after all. He can be, if he needs to, but... he'd prefer to not be one, for the matter.
"And since you certainly don't scare me either, we seem to be in agreement here."
Nimble fingers reach for one of the two freshly poured cups of coffee... and then he holds it out for the lady to take, offering it to her.
@daretr3ks
#daretr3ks#(OK SO.)#(I am wondering where this could happen but maybe?)#(after everything has happened?)#(Like with Khan being on board of the enterprise as a crewmember on probation yada yada)#(could maybe go hand in hand with the 'storyline version' I am writing with Lucy?)#(where Kirk and Khan did fly over to the Vengeance to do their thing there but Khan did not kill the Admiral)#(like. Kirk did not stun Khan)#(but Khan's emotions did overwhelm him and he did make his way over to the Admiral and tried to turn his brain into mush)#(but Kirk was successful at stopping him (with words lol))#(i didnt think about it yet whether he breaks carols kneecap but uh)#(...yeah. perhaps he did.)#(because he was super fucking angry there you know. like. a raging animal feeling so much pain)#(all he wanted was to kill that bastard but well)#(and if carol tried to stop khan... well)#(same for Jim I think he got a fist in his face first lol)#(but Khan eventually did calm down enough to not kill the Admiral and just spit him in the face lol)#(this would be for my main verse where STID is completely canon except from the Vengeance on)#(and yeah Khan is still an alien but only a handful of people know)#(including the Admiral ofc bc he used Khan... in a lot of ways.)#(so perhaps Carol knows as well if she did some file digging back while Khan was 'employed' under her father)#(SO MANY TAGS I AM SO SORRY)#(BUT ANYWAYS)#(they could meet again on the enterprise)#(or somewhere else)#(an... interesting first conversation to have after all of that by the way lol)#('YOU DONT SCARE ME')#('ok' sdfsdfsdf)#(I mean this can obvs also be at any other point uwu)#(but i feel this 'main storyline' would be perfect in itself)

Can I give you more than one so you can choose in case none of them would be inspiring? But also if none of them are that's also fine
Spock&Sarek + vacation
McCoy&Sarek + tea
spones + Amanda
Ahhhh all of these prompts are so fun, thank you!! I may do all of them eventually lol, though it's probably not surprising which one I picked to do first ;) I already failed to just write 100 words lol but at least it's still short!
--
Sarek startles awake as Doctor McCoy suddenly appears next to his biobed. He watches with mild confusion as the doctor places a teapot and two cups down on the table next to his bed. It’s the first time he’s woken up since the surgery, and based on the lack of pain he’s currently feeling, it must have been a success.
McCoy glances at him, and upon realizing he’s awake says, “Forgive me, Ambassador – I didn’t mean to wake you.”
“It is no matter.” He stares as McCoy pours the tea. “May I ask what you are doing?”
“I thought you might like some tea. Spock programmed a recipe for Vulcan spice tea into the replicator, and it’s pretty damn good in my opinion.” McCoy offers one of the cups, and Sarek takes it. “The Captain says I need to work on my bedside manner, so. Here I am.”
“I see.” Sarek looks into the cup, and then glances at his son lying in the biobed at the far end of the room. He’s still unconscious, and something in his chest tightens. “My son—?”
“He’s fine, despite his best efforts,” McCoy grumbles, and then checks himself. “Ah, sorry. His blood production rate is back to normal. And your heart is back to normal, too.”
“Then I must compliment you on your surgical skill, Doctor,” Sarek says. McCoy seems surprised by this, and Sarek reflects on their interactions thus far. He supposes he had been less than polite to the doctor when he had asked him why he had retired so early. While it had been because he did not want Amanda to learn about his heart condition, it was still inexcusable behavior. “As you probably already guessed, my heart condition is why I retired so early. Forgive me for not answering your question before.”
“Oh, it’s alright.” McCoy leaves briefly to place a cup of tea by Spock’s bed, and then returns to Sarek’s side. “It was probably insensitive of me to ask.”
“And yet that did not stop you from asking anyway,” Sarek says drily, realizing only after he’s said it that he should not tease McCoy as he would his wife.
But, to his surprise, McCoy grins. “You know, a lot of things make more sense now that I know you’re Spock’s father.”
Sarek blinks at him, unsure of his meaning. He glances over at his son again, who is starting to stir. McCoy also notices this and leaves Sarek’s side, fussing around Spock as he checks his biomonitor and hands him the teacup. He’s complaining about Spock taking unnecessary risks and giving McCoy an ulcer on purpose, which seems strange coming from a medical professional. But seeing the playfulness in Spock’s expression as he responds to McCoy in kind, Sarek realizes that he misinterpreted McCoy’s teasing from earlier.
He is gratified to see that Spock has such a close and valued friend.
Sarek takes a sip of tea. It’s good, and tastes just like the kind he makes from scratch at home. To think that his son programmed the replicator to produce an exact copy…
He feels warm, and tells himself it is merely because of the tea.

My friend and I realized that OFMD is literally a Bollywood film and I thought it was too funny not to share 🤣
Like:
-someone gets shot
-there's a jealousy arc
-mysterious twin brother popping up out of nowhere
-evil mother in law (aka Izzy because evil mothers in law are always antagonistic towards the mc because they don't think they'll ever be good enough for their child which is just a hilarious interpretation of Izzy imo)
-wealth disparity arc (Blackbeard wanting to go to that fancy party because his mother had always told him they'd never be that kind of people)
-arranged marriage conflict
-and all the episodes combined are like 5 hours long
basically every single trope in a Bollywood film is in ofmd. All that's missing is the song and dance numbers 🤔

My #1 post of 2022
Last reblog reminded me that I was thinking about spones accidentally swapping uniforms the other day....
It's the long sleeved uniforms so neither of them notice right away, but when they step on the bridge Kirk notices immediately. As bones comes to stand beside him, Kirk grins and says, "why bones, I didn't know you got a promotion."
Bones has NO idea what he's talking about at first, but spock does, and he just freezes at his post.
Massive teasing ensues.
Omg it would be even funnier if some admiral was coming aboard before they had time to change and kept referring to bones as Commander and First Officer, much to Spock's annoyance

Can I request a Star Trek AOS Bones X Reader where they have an away mission to an abandoned/taken over starbase and they get separated from the main group and have to survive (whoever took it over) and get back to the enterprise? Maybe throw in a baby or small child they have to protect?
I don't do a lot of asks lol I have no idea if I'm doing this right. 😅😬 I love your writing by the way it's really, really good!
Yay a Star Trek request!
Thank you so much for this request I had a lot of fun doing it!
Thank you so much! It means so much to hear that :D
Title: Rescue
Everything tag list: @greenrevolutionary
You could feel Bones’s glare on the back of your head as you made your way through the corridors of the star ship. The Enterprise had received a distress call from them and Kirk had immediately leapt into action. It had been an unusually quiet couple of months and everyone could tell he was becoming restless.
“How much further did you say it was to the emergency shuttles?” asked Bones
“Not long.”
“You said that five minutes ago.”
You sighed and stopped walking and turned around to face him. Bones continued to glare at you but you couldn’t take him seriously when he was holding a small child in his arms. The two of you weren’t meant to be on board the ship but a panicked parent started screaming that his child was still on board. You didn’t give anyone the chance to stop you before you ran back on board. Unfortunately you hadn’t realised that Starfleet’s grumpiest doctor had followed you.
“I know these old ships,” you said, “Had to study them to become an engineer. Starfleet always has a few on commission.”
You moved to fold your arms and winced. When you are Bones arrived back on the ship it had lurched suddenly to the side causing you to smash into a wall. You were pretty sure that it wasn’t broken but Bones wasn’t taking any chances. He had made a make shift sling for your arm until you were back on the Enterprise.
“Now let’s hurry,” you said turning back around, “The soon we find these shuttles the sooner we can get back.”
“And the sooner we can give this child back,” muttered Bones, “You and you bleeding heart.”
“I thought Kirk was the one with the bleeding heart,” you said, “He was the one who-“
You cut off and almost let out a string of curse words but managed to stop yourself just in time. The child looked between you and Bones as Bones said,
“What’s happened now?”
“You know those shuttles.”
“Yeah?”
“Take a look.”
Bone walked over next to you and sighed.
“Oh shi-“ he looked at the child, “Shoot.”
All the remaining shuttles had been destroyed. You ran your fingers through your hair and started pacing.
“What do we do now? How can we fix these?”
“I’m a Doctor not an engineer. That’s your department.”
“Fu- Shi-,” you managed to stop yourself from wearing and punched the wall, “We’re not going to get out of here are we?”
“Careful,” said Bones, “You don’t want to damage your other hand.”
You slid down the wall and put your head in your hands. You were going to die on a burnt up star ship with someone who clearly didn’t like you. Even if by some miracle the two of you survived you had burnt any bridges with getting close to Bones. Damn him for being so handsome.
“Hey,” Bones sat down next to you, “Don’t be like that. Jim will find a way to get us out of this mess. And besides,” he looked down at the now sleeping child, “You went back to save a life.”
“And you followed,” you said looking up at him, “Why did you follow.”
“Well,” Bones said quickly, “Someone needed to make sure that you didn’t die or injure yourself. Speaking of which,” he held out his hand, “Let me see how badly you’ve injured yourself.”
“Nothing’s broken,” you said, “I can still move my fingers.”
“I’ll be the judge of that.”
Bones gently took your hand in his and brushed his fingers over your knuckles. You winced slightly which caused him to raise an eyebrow.
“Not broken you said.”
“Just because they’re not broken doesn’t mean that they don’t hurt.”
“Well luckily you’re correct. Just bruised slightly. Easy fix once we get back to the Enterprise.”
“Good.”
“You’re arm in another story. You’ll probably going to have to remain in the med bay for a couple of days.”
“I can think of worst ways to spend my time.”
“Is that so?”
“Well,” you gave him a shy smile, “As long as I’m under the watchful care of Doctor McCoy.”
“I wouldn’t trust anyone to look after you.”
You turned bright red much to the amusement of Bones.
“Umm Bones.”
“Yes.”
“You’re still holding my hand.”
“You want me to let go.” Said Bones with a hint of disappointment in his voice
“Not really,” you said, “But I-“
A crackle above your head made you and Bones look up.
“Enterprise to Octavian. Enterprise to Octavian.”
“What the-“
It was Chekov.
“Do you hear me? Enterprise to-“
“Bones!” yelled Kirk, “Y/n! Answer us!”
“Dammit Jim,” yelled Bones as he jumped to his feet and pushed the button on the communicator, “We heard you!”
You heard Kirk let out a sigh of relief. However that didn’t last for very long. The shouting had woken up the child who had started crying. Bones groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“I hear you found the child.”
The amusement in Kirk’s voice was clear and you guessed that if he was in front of Bones he would’ve tried to punch him.
“Please give us some good news. Can you get us out of here?”
“Yes,” replied Chekov quickly, “I have locked onto you and should be teleporting you out of there soon.”
“Great,” said Bones as he offered you his hand, “We should be out of here soon.”
You had been trying to calm the child down with no success. Bones just shook his head at your attempts and once you were standing he picked up the child who quickly calmed down.
“You’re a natural.” you said smiling
“Comes with practice darling.”
You gave him a small smile at the nickname and blushed when you felt his hand brush against yours. The two of you moved away from each other as you were teleported off of the ship and back to the Enterprise. Neither of you wanted any rumours to start about the two of you but as soon as you saw the Captain’s face you knew that it was a pointless wish.
Sometimes you thought that Captain Kirk was a little too invested in his friend’s love life.

Lonely (Jim Kirk x Fem!Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Jim’s constant playing starts to get the best of you.
Hi everyone!! Its been a while since I’ve written anything that hasn’t been a request, but I’ve run out!! Send me more!!! This is a callout for me personally lol and it really helped me realize the things I’ve been doing to myself for a stupid guy oops. Originally there wasn’t supposed to be anything happy at all in this, but as a reader, I would be unsatisfied so I made it reciprocated :) I hope you all like it!!
Trigger Warnings: hella angst, swearing, self-hatred Word Count:1885
request something!!
masterlist
You sat there in the crowded mess hall, pressed up against your closest friends on the ship, but you had never in your life felt this lonely. You could see him from across the room, sitting awfully close to a pretty blonde ensign, grinning. Your heart wrenched painfully in your chest, forcing you to look away. The crew was celebrating a successful diplomatic mission, where the captain, yet again, was able to cleverly captivate the queen of another possible federation ally. Yeah. He had probably slept with her or something.
You and Jim had a painful relationship. For you, anyway.
You weren’t sure how much longer you were going to be able to take it. You had been working on the bridge with him for almost a year, and you had caught feelings quicker than you wanted to and you weren’t going to lie; it scared you. You were afraid of how much you loved him, just because he gave you some attention one time. You knew that you were just another name on the long list of girls that fell into his charming trap. You felt ashamed.
When you glanced back over to Jim’s table to find them kissing, you felt sick. You hadn’t noticed that your friends had all moved away from where you had been sitting, so it was easy for you to slip away unnoticed. Tears began burning in the back of your throat as the doors to the mess hissed open, letting a chilled wave of fresher air cool your skin. You started to feel better. You decided to head for the observation deck, since the system the ship was flying through was rumored to be particularly beautiful. Anything to get your mind off of Jim.
You stopped by your quarters quickly to change into something a bit more comfortable than your uniform.
You hugged your arms into your chest as you walked down the cold empty hallways. You had thought his sudden interest in you was actual interest, not just some phase that he would soon grow out of. Were you simply not good enough for him to want to stay? After you had kissed for the first time you were sure that it had meant something, even though you both had been drunk, but when he never brought it up you became unsure. The thought that maybe he had just forgotten it had even happened, or worse, didn’t even realize it was you that he kissed, but you didn’t want that option.
You couldn’t help but feel that you just weren’t enough for him. After he started distancing himself from you, unfamiliar self-consciousness started to descend on you like a plague. You started scrutinizing every little thing about yourself; your hair, your facial features- even the most minuscule and irrelevant things like your jawline and the color of nail polish you wore. You started changing, probably not for the better, and suddenly the only thing that mattered was getting Jim’s attention to re-spark his interest. You started feeling disgusted by your body and started feeling anxious about how you dressed. Even conversation became something that concerned you and you had become cautious even of the things you spoke about. The only thing you started caring about was impressing him. It never worked. It was eating you alive.
The doors to the observatory slid open and your eyes widened. The system was breathtaking. It almost pushed Jim from your mind. You settled down on a plush couch in front of the window and gazed into the stars.
                                                       ᓚᘏᗢ
Jim felt empty. He had tried to find distraction from his issues in any way possible, but nothing worked; not even his everlasting love of pursuing women. He had found the blonde ensign in the midst of the party, easily pulling her under his spell. He tried to enjoy being around her, but he lost interest as soon as he spotted her in the crowd. He had been worried about her for the past few days; she didn’t look like herself. She sat by herself sipping on a drink one of her friends had given her, staring off into space. It wasn’t like her to spend a party by herself.
Jim kept his eye on her for most of the night, sending her glances now and then to make sure she didn’t leave with someone.
Maybe it wasn’t fair of him. He knew that he had feelings for her, but he didn’t want to pressure her. He knew it was a mistake to kiss her that night. He felt like he had taken advantage of her since they were both wasted and he thought that never speaking of it would make it go away. It didn’t, for him at least. He wasn't sure how she stood on the kiss, but he started noticing after it had happened that she started acting differently. He couldn’t put his finger on it.
Jim knew he wasn’t good for her. He didn’t know if he was ready for commitment, though he wanted to be with her so badly. So, instead of facing his problems, he ran from them. He started to distance himself from her and no matter how many times he had told himself that it was to keep her safe, it still felt like a lie. He noticed that she didn’t take his distance well. He felt terrible.
He had been lost in thought, and barely registered it when the blonde kissed him. Jim lightly moved her off of him and grabbed her hand. The girl was wasted as fuck, and Jim didn’t want to leave her by herself. He looked one more time to where [y/n] was sitting to find her seat empty. His heart dropped. She couldn’t have seen them kiss, did she? Or worse yet, leave with someone else?
He pulled the blonde out of the mess and escorted her back to her quarters. He didn’t intend on going back to the party, not if she wasn’t there. Instead, he decided to just take a walk through the empty halls and enjoy the silence.
Shaking his head, Jim rounded a corner to find the doors to the observation room open. Curious, he poked his head inside to see who was in there. His breath hitched in his throat.
She was sitting there, beautiful as ever, gazing at the stars with her back turned to him. He didn’t know what to say.
Before he could decide, however, the motion sensor of the door activated and the doors started to close, the hissing noise startling her. She jumped and turned around, eyes wide as they met Jim’s.
“Hey,” he breathed.
                                                      ᓚᘏᗢ
You were frozen. Internally, you were freaking out since you were in your loungewear and your hair was a mess and Jim was standing right in front of you, but your face was stuck looking like a lost puppy. Finally, though, you were able to force words out of your mouth.
“Jim?” you cocked your head. “What are you doing here?”
Jim’s mouth opened and then closed again. He had absolutely no idea what to say.
“Shouldn’t you be celebrating?” You asked, getting nervous. Was he uncomfortable speaking with you one on one? Did he wish it was someone else in that room?
He blinked and shook his head. “Ah- Um- Yeah, I guess,” he stumbled. “I just needed some air and I saw that someone left the door open-” He cut himself off. “I’m sorry-”
“No, you’re fine-”
He sighed. “Can I start over?”
You nodded, patting the space next to you. He sat down.
“Listen [y/n],” he paused. “I don’t know what’s come between us lately, but I want you to know that I miss you.”
You blinked at him in shock, butterflies erupting in your stomach.
“I... missed you too,” you nodded, smiling.
Jim grinned back.
“I value our friendship a lot, and I hope that whatever came between us-”
“This is about the kiss, isn’t it,” Jim cut you off. Your heart dropped. “Listen, if you wish it was someone else, or feel bad about it-"
"No! No," you interrupted. "Seriously, that's not it."
"Then tell me what's going on," he pressed.
"I can't," you said quietly.
"Why not?" he continued. "[y/n], you can tell me anything."
"Jim, stop pressing me."
"I can't help if you don't tell me-"
"It's because I like you!" you snapped.
His eyes widened. "Why didn't you just tell me ages ago?"
"Because you don't feel the same way," you looked away.
"But that's not true," Jim reached for your hand. "I like you [y/n]."
You moved away from him. "That doesn't change anything."
"Why not?" he frowned. "We can be together now. If that's what you want."
"I want that," you, said quietly.
"Then what's holding you back?" he reached out again and you turned on him, eyes blazing.
"Because, Jim. When we kissed that night, you never brought it up. I thought we had something, even back then, but you made me feel like it was nothing to you. I felt like nothing to you," you seethed. "Then, to make it worse, you pushed me away and started flirting around with other girls right in front of me. Do you know how that made me feel, Jim? I felt worthless. And the stupid thing is that I still miss you like crazy," your words started getting caught in your throat. "I think about you all the time, and I want to be with you."
Jim stared at you, a flabbergasted look on his face.
"But I can't," you looked away.
"I had no idea I made you feel that way," Jim whispered. "I didn't want to make you uncomfortable. You were really drunk, and I wasn't as much and I felt like I had crossed a line. I had no idea you felt that way for me. If I had, I would have told you I had feelings a long, long time ago."
He moved a little closer. This time you didn't flinch.
"I distanced myself from you because I thought you didn't feel the same for me. I thought that maybe the kiss had freaked you out, and I wanted to give you space. I swear that I never, ever wanted to hurt you." He took your hand, running his thumb over your knuckled. "I could barely take being away from you. Trust me, I couldn't stop thinking of you. All I want is a second chance. I want to be with you."
You wiped the tears off of your face with the back of your free hand before meeting his gaze. You leaned down and rested your head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry for yelling at you."
Jim chuckled. "No worries. I deserved it."
You lifted your head and looked in his eyes again. "so, you really want to do this?"
He nodded, grinning. "I really want to do this."
You smirked. "What about that blonde ensign from the party?"
Jim chuckled. "Long forgotten."
You smiled up at him. He glanced down at your lips and used his other hand to tilt your chin up, closing the distance.
You pulled away with a smile still on your face. "Finally, a real kiss."
It was Jim's turn to smirk. "Care for another?"

Remind Me
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Crosses out June 14 and scribbles June 15th over it)
Intro: Hellohello see I am alive, but I am a little late haha.  So this is for @outside-the-government‘s Trek Fest 2017!  For Spock week!  Which ended yesterday but I fell asleep at like 9pm so I couldn’t finish this fic lol.
Pairing: Spock x reader
Word Count: 4,401 (I tried to keep it short I promise but it ran away on me)
Warning: Short description of a needle and needle insertion (like the ones from Divergent lol)
Summary: Going on your first away mission alone is a scary thing, but you have your best friend Spock to look out for you, so you know you’re going to be fine.  But when you are captured by the leader of the planet and forced to participate in his twisted game that includes you and Spock fighting to the death, can anyone save you?
A/N: I don’t know how I feel about this one.  I rewrote it a little, changing it from an existing relationship to the beginning of one, and I kinda like this one better.  I feel like I’m a little off my game lately, but I promise I’ll be back on the horse soon (or at least I’ll try to be!).
Also for some reason my brain won’t let me actually process words long enough to edit this so I hope it makes sense.
-Enjoy!-
“I’m going to be fine, Spock, stop being such a worry wort.” You clipped the last of your gear into place and stood to face him.
“The likelihood of you getting injured is...” Spock started his brows almost furrowed as you tucked your helmet under your arm.
“54.3% I know.  You’ve told me a million times.”
“I only told you six times, and as your first solo mission the percentage could be even higher.” Spock’s eyes grew glassy as he processed the math.
You stepped forward, your boots clanking against the metal floor of the ship hanger, and poked at his arm, “Spock?  Earth to Spock!” His eyes flicked to you and you felt your heart stutter in your chest, “I’m going to be fine.  Okay? So stop looking so worried and help me with the clasp at the back of this stupid suit, I can’t reach it.”
Spinning around, you were grateful to be out of Spock’s worried gaze, as it was starting to make you nervous.  The planet was a dangerous one, and the inhabitants were not very well studied so it was hard to tell if they would be violent or not.  Taking a breath, you straightened your spine and turned back to Spock.
“Thanks.  Now you go, monitor my frequency or whatever, I’ll see you in a bit.” You smiled up at him, wishing his expression of worry would morph into something more calm, but it didn’t.
His hand suddenly reached up and grabbed your upper arm, over the hard metal of the suit, and you found yourself wishing that there were not so many layers between you.
“Be careful, Y/N.  If anything is not what it seems, we can beam you back immediately.” Spock’s form loomed over you and you leaned into his touch for a moment.
“The plan is to come back all in one piece, don’t you worry.”
That’s the last thing you could remember as your eyes split open, to dark nothingness.  Your bare limbs were pressed into smooth, cold stone, and your arms were bound behind you.
“What the hell?” You tried to mumble but found your mouth dry and blocked, by a piece of fabric of some sort, tied as a gag around your mouth.
Slowly and painfully you sat up, pain lancing through your skull, joints aching from your restrained position.  You were able to slide your hands under your feet and bring your arms around to your front, quickly ridding yourself of the gag and the blindfold that you found over your eyes.
The room wasn’t much brighter than the blindfold, and as you glanced around, you saw nothing but a dark room of black marble stone, nothing but a door off to one side to let a little light in.
Where the hell were you? You shivered as panic started to set into you.
What the hell happened?
"Captain, I see your logic in the dangers of this plan, but I have calculated it..."
"Spock, damnit, I have told you a million times you are not going down there."
"You have only told me six times, and this is the only way to rescue Lieutenant Y/L/N..."
"Really?  Do you really think you can convince me you are being totally subjective about this just because you won't even call her, one of your closest friends, by her first name?"
"I am being subjective, do you not think if it were any other crewman down there I would not try to save them as well?"
"No, because for as long as I have know you, you have never gone with a plan that has less than 40% chance of success, because, as you say, 'logic dictates'..."
"Jim, taunting me at such time is a very bad idea."
"Yeah?  Whatcha gonna do?  Hit me?"
"Possibly..."
"ALRIGHT ALRIGHT!" Bones stormed onto the bridge to see the two, Jim and Spock, near inches from the other, anger and fury in both their gazes.
"Will you two stop trying to kill each other for a second and consider how idiotic you two are being?" Bones flicked his gaze between the two men, his hands waving in furious movements, "Jim," He turned to Jim, "I am surprised at you not even considering a plan that would save a crewman's life.  And, Spock." He turned to Spock, "I am very surprised that you have not recognized your own emotional investment in this situation and deemed yourself unfit for this mission."
They both blinked at Bones, both processing their own accusations, and they both seemed to relax their shoulders.
Incoming transmission.  Incoming transmission.
"Captain, it's from Hexon-V." Uhura's voice came from her station.
"Open communication channels, and display video." Jim ordered.
A sharp hiss escaped Spock as what was displayed was not just the face of Hexon-V's leader, but of you, blindfolded, gagged, and in his firm grip that he held around your jaw.
"Captain Kirk.  Commander Spock.  Dr. McCoy.  Glad to have all of your attention.  I am called Hex, the leader of my planet, on which this little thing has trespassed." His voice was a hiss, a lull, a washing sound and Spock stepped forward instinctively.
"Release her." His words were short, clipped, not a request, a demand.
"Ah, ah, ah, Mr. Spock, so much emotion, I am astounded.  Is she your little pet?  Your little thing?  So pretty." He squeezed your jaw tighter with his words and a little whimpered "Spock" left  your lips.
"Release her."  Again a demand, but his voice almost broke, almost cracked.
"Oh, that, Mr. Spock, is up to you.  See, I want to keep her around for a little while because I want something from her.  I want to play a game."
"This isn't a game, Hex." This time it was Jim to speak, to step up.
"But, you see, to me it is." Hex reached behind your head and tugged the blindfold off, and you were finally able to see again, "Take a look here, pretty one, because this is the last you're ever going to see of your precious Vulcan lover-boy, if he doesn't comply to my game."
Spock's gaze roamed your bruised, bloodied and terrified face and he actually felt a pang of fear flash through him, "What are your conditions?"
Hex's face stretched in a gruesome smile, "I want you, Spock, down here in one hour or your pretty little plaything will die." He gave a squish to your cheeks roughly, "Got it?  Good."
The last thing Spock saw before the channel shut off was your eyes.
You were afraid that the last thing you would see of Spock would be that desperate, terrible look on his face, his eyes searching yours as if you had all the answers.  But you didn't.  You had nothing.
Hex still had you by a death grip around your jaw and he turned your head so you were forced to look at him.
"Let's hope Mr. Spock is smart enough to play by my rules, or his name will be the last thing on your lips before we tear you limb-from-limb." Hex's words sent droplets of spit flying into your face and you would have given anything to reach up and wipe them off.
"Let's get her prepped."
You gulped as best you could with the gag in your mouth.
“You are an absolute menace, the most disgusting being I have ever met, do you not think Spock is smarter than you?  Because he is, quite a bit so actually, and he will smush you, like a bug.  Because that’s what you are.  A bug.” The gag had left your lips only seconds before you started spewing insults at Hex, who had a tight grip on your arm, your hands still tied behind your back.
He didn’t respond to your taunts so you continued, “You do realize that Spock isn’t going to come down here alone, right?  He’s going to come down here with an army of angry Starfleet officers and kill you all.”
Hex’s next words were whispered into your ear, his rank breath brushing over your skin, “And when he does, I will kill you instantly.  Is that what you want?  Is that what you’re prepared for, little one?”
He moved beside you, resting a hand on your neck, and dismissing the rest of his guard.  He undid the blindfold over your eyes and the light in the room was blinding.  Hex had moved you to a massive room, the ceiling tall and towering, light streaming in through windows at the top of the stone arches that lined the walls.
Then, out of the corner your eye you saw something in his hand and you froze. Between his fingers he spun a long silver needle with an orange liquid loaded into it.
Panic consumed you, grasped you tightly, left you breathless.
It was cut short by a familiar whooshing sound, followed by the sparkly gold lights of a transporter beam.
"Looks like your knight on a white horse is coming for you, love."
Spock appeared seconds later, and you nearly fell forward as you called out for him, but Hex's grip was tight on your neck.
"Welcome, Mr. Spock.  Glad you could join us.  Now let's see who's going to emerge from this little game alive." Hex laughed.
As soon his words ended a sharp pain shot into your neck as he pressed the needle in.  You squeezed your eyes shut and cried out, Spock stepping forward as the liquid was injected.
It was mere seconds before pain enveloped your entire body and the world went black.
Spock watched as the needle pierced your skin and the orange liquid disappeared.  You lurched forward and screamed before Hex withdrew the needle and released you.  You blinked hard, still bent over for a few seconds before you stood up straight and stood at Hex’s side.
"What did you do to her?" Spock questioned.
Something was wrong with your eyes.  Spock found that your eyes held a great deal of emotion, and there always seemed have a happy lilt to them.  But right now they were blank, dead, empty as you stared straight ahead.
Hex undid your shackles and you didn't run to Spock, didn't turn around and knock Hex flat, like Spock knew you could, you just stood there, staring straight ahead.
"What. Did. You. Do. To. Her." Spock demanded.
Hex smiled that evil smile again and stepped around your eerily un-moving form towards Spock, hands clasped behind his back, "Like I said, I wanted to play a little game.  And like I said, if you came down her, she would live. Because what I just gave her, was a little serum I developed myself.  It makes the person bend to my commands, without question."
Hex turned his back to Spock, "So I can say, Y/N, touch your nose."
You did.
"Hop up and down."
You did.
"Isn't this great?" Hex laughed, "You see, Spock, what I am going to ask her to do next is going to be the start of our little game.  And whoever makes it out of our little game will get to go home, safe and sound, scout's honour."
Spock stepped forward warily, every muscle tensed with caution, "What are you going to ask her to do?"
"I am going to ask her to kill you."
His words seemed to resound through out the large room.
Hex continued, "So you will have no choice to fight to the death.  She kills you or you kill her.  Easy as pie."
Spock's eyes darkened, "Why are you doing this?" His voice was quiet.
"Because I want to see you dead, Spock." Hex was suddenly serious.
"Then why not just kill me?  Why the game?"
Hex let out a loud laugh and clapped his hands together, and it almost made Spock started with how on edge he was, "Because it's more fun.  Now, this is boring me.  Let's begin."
Spock was about to let out a "no", but Hex continued, pulling out a large silver broadsword from his holster.
"Y/N.  Kill him.  Kill Spock."
Spock watched in horror as you turned your empty gaze onto him, taking the broadsword from Hex without looking at him and weighing it in your hand.
"Begin." The one word from Hex's lips and you lunged forward, towards Spock, without hesitation.
Spock reeled back in surprise at the sudden attack and turned to follow Hex, but he was quickly retreating out the door, which slid shut with a loud thunk behind him.
Spock didn't have much time to contemplate the situation before you were on him again, swinging the sword with a strength and purpose that he had never seen in you before.
"Y/N." He gasped as he dodged your next swing, and barely had time to say, "stop", before you were swinging again.
And again and again and again, and if Spock weren't Vulcan you would have probably taken him down by now, but he was able to evade the blade save for catching the broad side on his forearms a couple times, knocking it away.
"Y/N." He hissed as you nicked his elbow with the blade.
Your dead eyes seemed un-seeing as you attacked, and your face was frozen in a serious frown.
Finally, Spock was able to get behind you and he laced one arm across your chest and the other grabbed your wrist, hard, so you called out and dropped the sword to the floor with a clatter.
Spock took your elbow to his gut, hard enough to make him lean back and you stomped on his foot before spinning away from his grasp.
"Y/N, stop.  You are under influence of his drug.  Stop." Spock tried, but you lunged for him again.
His forearms blocked your swinging kicks, but Spock was surprised by your fist connecting with his jaw.  As he reeled backwards, he watched you scramble for the sword again, his stomach dropping as you wielded it again.
Spock's mind was running at a mile a minute, trying to think of solutions, of antidotes, of a way to at least incapacitate you without killing you, long enough to get you back aboard the Enterprise.  But he couldn't get close enough to Vulcan pinch you, and couldn't get a good swing in.
He barely had time to pull out of the way when a sharp pain rippled down his forearm as he returned his focus to you, who had swung the sword with a great amount of force.
Spock stepped backwards with each subsequent swing, until his back hit the stone wall.  At that moment he decided what he was going to have to do. Using his Vulcan speed and strength, he caught your upper arms as you swung again and threw his body weight forward, spinning you around so you were now against the wall, and he was pressing you into it.
Spock struggled to hold you there, as you resisted hard, and the sword was still poised between your bodies.  You tried to raise it to get at his neck, and Spock was able to deflect it so it dug into the skin of his shoulder instead.
"Y/N." He gritted his teeth as he pressed his whole body into yours.
The sword dug deeper as you resisted more, and Spock saw you up close, the sweat glistening off your forehead, your blank eyes, your angry frown.  It wasn't you.  It wasn't right.  And that feeling of wrongness spurred him on to press you harder into the wall.  This pressed the sword more into the muscle of his shoulder, but he couldn't focus on that now.
"Y/N." He reached for the skin of your face, trying to keep you pinned with his body, "Stop." He breathed.
Finally his fingers brushed your cheek and he was able to connect with you. The instant he felt the connection he pushed a memory into you, a feeling.
"Commander Spock, you cannot just come in here and start demanding things like you own the place, I will not stand for it."
"You do not need to stand for anything, lieutenant, for I have superiority in this situation and don not need your permission."
"Insufferable." Spock heard you mumble as you stalked away.
That was the first time you met.
Spock broke from the memory as you tried to kick at his ankles, but he knew what he was doing now, and he pressed tighter.  He sent you another memory.
“I can’t believe you’ve never been surfing, Spock.  Well, actually I can believe it, but still.”
Spock watched as you extended your hand to him, and he hesitated.
“C’mon, let’s catch some waves.  I promise it’s fun!”
You wiggled your fingers at Spock, and something to do with that, the sparkle in your eyes and that coaxing smile on your lips, made Spock reach forward and take your hand.
That’s the first time you kissed, and you didn’t even know it.
The pain grew in Spock's shoulder, but the pressure decreased as you seemed to falter, your eyes blinking a few times, but you remained under the influence of the serum.
"Y/N, please." Spock begged and forced another memory into your brain.
“Can’t we just stay here forever?”
Spock peered down at your head, where it was leaned against his chest.
“If we do, we will be either eaten by coyotes, or develop 3rd degree sunburns on our exposed skin and become so dehydrated that we die.”
“You’re no fun.” You teased and smacked Spock’s stomach lightly.
Spock dared at that moment to stroke his fingers down your back gently, and you responded by nuzzling deeper into his chest.  He wondered if there was any possible way you had feelings of affection for him, because he sure had feelings of affection for you.
That was the happiest that Spock's ever been.
The sword hit the ground with a clatter.  Spock could feel your muscles clenching and then unclenching as if you were trying to decide whether to attack or not, and he watched as your eyes focused and unfocused.
"Y/N.  Ashau nash-veh du." Spock breathed, grabbing your hands and snapping them up beside your head, pinning you there, “Y/N, stop, please.”
He pressed his open palms into yours tightly, taking the feelings that these memories elicited in him and forcing them into you.  Happiness, affection, love, anger as he fought with you, fear at the thought of losing you.  Everything.
And with a sudden jerk and gritted teeth your head hit the wall behind you, your eyes squeezing shut.  Finally you stopped fighting against Spock, your breathing heavy and laboured.  Eventually, you opened your eyes and met Spock’s gaze, and your expression was no longer blank or empty, it was you again.
“Spock.” The word escaped your mouth and you sighed in relief.
Spock kept you pressed into the wall for a few moments more before he tilted forward and pressed his forehead to yours, “We must get back to the Enterprise.”
You met his eyes, which were only inches from your own, and nodded as you entwined your fingers in his.
Dr. McCoy had let you into Spock’s room to wait for him while he was treated and gave an official report.  You contemplated lying down and trying to get some rest while you waited for him, but decided against it.  So you stayed perched on the edge of Spock’s bed, trying to recall exactly what had happened, and not remembering a second of it.
The last thing you remembered as the look on Spock’s face when the video link was cut off.  How Spock rescued you, or why he was in the medbay for so long was lost to you, though you tried with all of your might to remember.
Your answers would soon come to you, as when Spock walked through the door of his quarters and stopped just inside the room, his eyes on you curiously, everything came back.
You stood and cautiously made your way over to Spock, and noticed a bandage over his shoulder and his elbow, as well as a fading bruise on his jaw. His regular uniform blues had been traded for a soft grey t-shirt.
“I did this to you.” You reached your fingertips up to touch his injured arm, but decided against it, moving to touch the bruise on his jaw instead.
“You were under the influence of the serum, it is not your fault.” Spock’s voice was cool, calculated, but his gaze was full of some emotion you couldn’t place.
“I hurt you, Spock, I remember hurting you.”
“It is not your fault.” He used to fingers to move your hand away from his face softly.
You searched his face, looking for any sort of anger, or hatred, but finding none, only that same look that you couldn’t place.
“I’m sorry.” He let you say, not that he needed to hear it, but more for you to say it.
A moment passed before he reached out to hold your upper arm, much like just before the mission, but this time it was skin on skin, and you could swear you felt your heart beating in your throat.
“You’re crying.  Y/N, you don’t need to cry, I am “all in one piece” as you say.”
You wiped at the tears that collected on your cheeks and sighed, nodding up at him before a troublesome feeling overtook you, “All I can remember is fighting you.  Oh, Spock.  I can remember how much I wanted to kill you.  The desire was in my veins, in my brain, everywhere.  I would have killed you.  You would have let me kill you.”
Sobs wracked your body and you felt like you were only being held up by Spock’s hand on your arm.  He seemed to be sending you waves of assurance, of calm, through his skin and into yours.
“That’s not of importance anymore.  We are both out alive.” He seemed to draw nearer to you, and you wanted nothing more than to curl into the warmth of his chest.
“How did I get out of the influence of the serum?  I remember fighting you, and then waking up, but that’s it.”
Like this.
The words seemed to resonate in your brain, and you quickly realized it was Spock speaking through your skin-to-skin connection.  You guessed he could sense your confusion and so he spoke again.
I sent you memories and feelings.  To remind you of yourself.
The idea of forgetting yourself terrified you, and you were thankful when Spock sent another feeling of assurance into you.
“So what memories did you send?” Your voice was barely a whisper.
The images of the first time you met Spock flashed through your brain and you laughed, remembering how much you hated him at first.
Then, from your first shore leave as friends, and you had gone to the beach together.  Spock was actually very good at surfing.
Then, from the time you got stranded on the top of a mountain of a foreign planet together and spent two days up there, talking and trying to stay alive until help came.
What surprised you most about the memories was the emotions that went along with them.   You had always felt this connection with Spock, ever since you met, but you never thought he would return your feelings.  Ever.
Another tear slipped down your cheek, and you let out a watery laugh before you spoke, “So Vulcan’s kiss with their fingertips?”
Spock hummed in response, low and soft, and it made you melt a little.
“Will you show me?” Your voice was barely a whisper.
Spock’s dark eyes met yours now and he tilted his head to the side slightly.
Raising your hand between you, you felt your breath hitch when his fingers released your arm and brushed against your own.
The flow of your tears stopped as his fingertips pressed more insistently into yours, and you gasped at the feeling of affection that enveloped you.  You exhaled and sent him a wave of your own affection.  He seemed to shudder in response.
Sliding your fingers in between his, you felt the wave of emotion subside, and you dropped your connected hands between you.
“You told me you loved me.” You breathed, staring at his chest, “When you were trying to stop me, you told me you loved me.”
“I did not think you would remember it.” His words brushed across your forehead, “I did not think you would understand it, as it was in Vulcan.”
You let out a soft laugh, daring a quick look up at him, “I learned how to say I love you in Vulcan.  Last week, actually.  Nyota taught me.” You dropped your eyes sheepishly.
Fingers pushed your chin up and gently rested there, keeping you in place with the hand of his injured arm.
“I find that is pleasing to hear, Y/N.”
You felt a soft smile pull at your lips, “So you meant it?”
The corner of his mouth turned up, and you found yourself staring at the curve of his lips, “I did.” His fingers crooked behind your ear and pulled you closer, “I do.”
“Will you stay with me tonight, Spock?”
“As this is my room, I believe that I should be asking that question.”
You laughed and shook your head softly, reaching up on your tiptoes so your face was more level with his.
“Will you let me stay with you tonight?” Your gaze slipped back and forth between his eyes.
Spock’s untangled his fingers from yours and slipped his arm around your back, pulling your chests flush together.
“Of course, Y/N, please stay.”
Your face broke into a smile, leaning in and pressing your lips to his softly.
“If you insist.”
