Dear Skippy, have been pondering the MM Anon riddles lately and saw your note a week or so ago, hoping this is appropriate! …. Since MM Anons return they appear very focused on worldwide events, covid-19 updates, sometimes allusions to political matters and of course PGs favourite, the glimpses into everyday life among the royals.  For those who might be new to them, they used to seem much, much more focused on MM herself, the BRF response to her, her nasty web of supporters etc.  This is just my impression, rightly or wrongly of course!  Anyway, I do think that we are getting clues relating in the same way to MM, disguised as more generic updates - MM Anon is very clever!  So in this vein, here is an interpretation thinking along these lines. Hopefully references to current contentious / political issues are correct - if not, please understand the motivation is just fun and entertainment!  Thanks for letting me indulge in this little theory Skippy and MM Anon, I really enjoy giving it a go :)
MM ANON …… dib dib dib……… DIB is a medical term for Difficulty In Breathing.  There are obvious connotations to the George Floyd death and the BLM activities occurring globally.  Is MM having difficulty breathing?  I’d say so!  She has no platform to communicate, which is HUGE.  By her own hand and by the BRF giving her what she wants (leaving offical duties, having privacy, ‘moving to the US’ etc) she now resorts to Scoobie emailing her PR to the world and announcing things on his Twitter.  She has no actual social media voice, there are limited opportunities to get her message out there with cruddy videos or photoshopped pap walks due to lockdown, she can’t merch or be seen out and about physically in person, her ‘friends’ have their own agendas to follow so cannot be a voice for her.  I could go on.  As you say Skippy, she needs the BRF connection, sugars and publicity like she needs air.  She can’t get any of these and certainly can’t get any airtime for her messages at the moment.
one metre before July ………… Referring to covid-19 social distancing rules being relaxed.  People can start to get closer to one another soon.  Could it also be that we are getting closer to the end of the MM / BRF saga this month?  Timing probably isn’t right for a true end, but perhaps things are going on that means we are taking more small steps, getting closer than we have been allowed to previously.
care-ing monarch online ……… HMTQ took part in a surprise Zoom meeting!  This is so cool and as the clue says, shows that her meeting was with UK carers and also that she cares very much for the people of the UK and Commonwealth.  Think about this…. Would you ever have believed, in June last year, that HMTQ, the Monarch, would be taking part in an online catch up?  I certainly wouldn’t have!  So who is modernising the monarchy MM?  Not you, your actions this year have been sheep like, following a formula, flippant and to be expected from someone of your age and experiences.  The physical and virtual interactions of HMTQ and the other royals this year, appropriately in the circumstances, shows them to be agile, adaptable and thoroughly modern royals in my humble opinion.
🎼What picture, what a photograph 🎼………… DOC museum of photography ? ………. Catherine, the DOC continues to showcase and promote beautiful work through ‘Hold Still’, her lockdown public photography project.  I hope there will be a physical exhibition at some point, in a museum or otherwise, it would be moving and beautifully curated I’m sure.  Anyway, this clue could be read, that there is a big difference in a picture and a photograph.  With MM we get pictures , often photoshopped to show her fantasy world, pap pictures, drone pictures, blurry pictures, pictures with no thought to composition, except to merch.  With the DOC, we get photographs, real moments captured on film, care goes into them.  There really is no comparison.
Columbus falls……… Statues of the explorer Christopher Columbus have been torn down in the US.  At a very base level, he opened up what is known as the New World.  Well we are all facing a New World these days with covid-19 and other matters.  MMs much wanted, New World, in the US is falling down around her ears.  I will also have fun and point out a couple of similarities between Columbus and MM
He has no confirmed birthdate or place, the same could be said for MM and Darren Doll
He was an explorer at sea, allegedly MM loves to play on yachts at sea
In 1485, Columbus requested of the King he be made “Great Admiral of the Ocean”, the king rejected this.  In 2020 MM requested of the Queen she remain HRH, the queen rejected this.
“ I shall insist it’s the best TTC old thing “ Trooping the Colour is on the 13th June, in a reformatted manner of course, but still going ahead - how about that for modernising MM??!  PP seems to be talking to HMTQ, saying will still be a wonderful ceremony.  If I recall correctly, PP was instrumental in ensuring the Queens Coronation was televised, this was such a long time ago.  He was, even then, thinking forward, modernising, making the event special for HMTQ.  Anyway, the best TTC would naturally involve the family, the traditions and pomp, celebrated virtually this year.  The very best would be the exclusion of madam from sticking her oar into proceedings.  I can’t wait to see how it is celebrated!
…………a trace race. The UK is in a  race to put contact tracing measures in place for covid-19.  It could also be interpreted that there is a constant race on to track and trace the activities, interactions and movements of MM, keeping her contained.  I have no doubt her every move continues to be known and monitored, despite attempts to avoid detection.
………… Sunday Balmoral?? ………… “ plenty of fresh air for them” ……… “ in the lodge” ……… “C&C can stay here” ……………” your good at this zoom lark old thing “…………… “Group Of eight, a dinner party “ For these clues, please see PGs wonderful interpretation, I can’t do justice to ‘behind the scenes with the BRF’ as she does :)
Thank you!  Yes, MM Anon’s riddles are different.  I love what you have done!  Brilliant!  Thank you so much!😊❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

‘Alita: Battle Angel’ Review
Director: Robert Rodriguez
Writers: James Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis
Cast: Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Keean Johnson, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Jennifer Connelly and Mahershala Ali
Synopsis: A deactivated female cyborg is revived, but cannot remember anything of her past life and goes on a quest to find out who she is.
*Reviewer Note: This will be a spoiler free review.*
Based on the anime and manga series created by Yukito Kishiro, Alita: Battle Angel has been a passion project for James Cameron for decades now, but put if off for Titanic, and because he didn’t think the visual effects were up for the vision he had. Then Avatar happened and Cameron’s focus went to developing those films that he passed along the directorial duties to his friend Robert Rodriguez, who was also a fan of the series. Now, we get the vision that Cameron probably intended with bombastic visual effects, some pretty solid set pieces and a pretty descent cast.
Set 300 years after The Fall, Alita: Battle Angel follows a resurrected abandoned cyborg named Alita (Rosa Salazar), by Doctor Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz). When she awakes, she has no recollection of her former life, despite not being hardwired like a normal cyborg that Ido usually deals with. Alita now has to learn how things work in Iron City, while also dealing with Vector (Mahershala Ali) – the man who runs Iron City from above – a group of bounty hunters called Hunter Warriors, taking an interest to Hugo (Keean Johnson), a local in Iron City, and Iron City’s favorite sport – Motorball.
Tumblr media
One of the best aspects going for Alita: Battle Angel is the amazing special effects that Cameron and the special effects department were able to pull off. On top of that, the 3D makes everything pretty immersive from Iron City, to the city of Zalem in the sky and Motorball (although, we can probably safely assume that most of that was CG). Plus, when it comes to Alita herself, she was motion-captured by Salazar herself, with some new motion-capture Cameron is going to use in the Avatar sequels. While most big budget movie – this being Robert Rodriguez’s most expensive movie to date –  have great ambition like Alita: Battle Angel, the adaptation actually works for what it’s trying to accomplish.
Which, of course, is an accomplishment in itself since most – if not all – anime adaptations lose a lot of what made the anime so beloved. I haven’t watched original anime, nor read the manga, but from what I was able to read it seems like Alita: Battle Angel is a pretty faithful adaptation, which should make fans happy. But, you don’t need to watch the anime to really enjoy the movie, because overall, Alita: Battle Angel is a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining film.
The cast is also pretty solid considering how bombastic the movie is, with almost the whole movie being put on Rosa Salazar’s shoulders. Thankfully, Salazar is able to carry it as she brings the right amount of naivety, wonderment and badassery the role requires. Christoph Waltz plays the father-figure role well, but I wish he was in it just a tad bit more, while Alita’s other man in her life is Keean Johnson’s Hugo, who is just a bit wooden at times, and even though his character gets an interesting storyline in the movie, his development is just a tad lackluster.
Tumblr media
The villains are very mixed with Mahershala Ali’s Vector not getting enough screen time to be a real threat, Ed Skrein plays a Hunter Warrior named Zapan who is just the right amount of smug and Jackie Earle Haley plays the dangerous Grewishka, who Alita goes head-to-head a couple of times. I would mention Jennifer Connelly’s Chiren, but she doesn’t have enough screen time to really make an impact. The movie is also filled with some cameos that could surprise people, especially one that I was shocked, like many, that they were able to keep secret.
The movie does have some minor problems, like some pacing issues here and there, but weirdly – and surprisingly – with the two hour runtime the movie moves are a pretty brisk pace. The overall story misses some beats, and one thing most viewers might not like is the ending. Admittedly, I found out it’s essentially how the anime ends too, but seeing how Hollywood is a different beast, and seeing how they set up it, it should be interesting to see how things work out.
All in all, Alita: Battle Angel has some minor flaws, but overall is thoroughly entertaining and ton of fun to watch. Rosa Salazar holds the movie up on her shoulders, and no the big CGI eyes will not bother you, plus, it actually helps with the character’s situation. Hopefully, Alita: Battle Angel starts a resurgence of good anime adaptations, no matter the result at the box office.

The Weekend Warrior Jan. 24, 2020 – THE GENTLEMEN, THE TURNING, THE LAST FULL MEASURE
If you read last week’s column, you’ll already know that I’m no longer with The Beat, so I’ll more than likely be doing all of my box office stuff here for a while. I just won’t promise to write so much about each movie as I did in my Box Office Preview, because a.) I don’t have time, and b.) I’m not getting paid to write this. Sorry if that’s a bit too blatantly honest, but getting paid for my writing matters to me, especially having done it for 25 years.
Before I forget, tonight, Wednesday, January 22, I’m hosting a 30thanniversary screening of Brain Dead, the freaky thriller starring Bills Pullman and Paxton, Bud Cort and George Kennedy. If you’re looking to check out crazy mind-fuck of a movie from 1990, there are still a few tickets left.
Anyway, it’s probably a good thing I didn’t get paid for last week’s column cause I way, way, WAY underestimated the power of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence to bring in audiences after 17 years since Bad Boys II. I thought the movie would make somewhere between $35 and 40 million over the four-day weekend, but it ended up making almost $60 million just over the three-day weekend, and $73 million for the four day, the second best after American Sniper. Obviously, Sony is already developing a fourth movie in the series and presumably they won’t wait another 18 years. Personally, I really liked Bad Boys for Life, as it was way better than Bad Boys II and it was a generally enjoyable and entertaining action-comedy.
Universal’s Dolittlealso did more than I predicted, but it wasn’t as vastly different, just closer to my original prediction last Wednesday before I thought I might be overestimating and lowered it. Waugh, Waugh…
Let’s get to this week…
Tumblr media
The movie I’m most excited about this week is THE GENTLEMEN (STXfilms), which is Guy Ritchie’s return to ensemble crime comedy after his foray into large-scale Disney adaptations like Aladdin, which I quite liked, and his “Sherlock Holmes” movies, the first of which I also loved.  Ritchie has a great cast for this one including Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Colin Farrell, Hugh Grant, Henry Golding (from Crazy Rich Asians and the underrated 2019 film Last Christmas), Michelle Dockery (from Downton Abbey) and one of my favorite character actors, Eddie Marsan! Honestly, I don’t know very much else about the movie (as I’m only seeing it on Monday night) but I loved what I saw at CinemaCon last year, and I’ve just been such a huge Ritchie fan going all the way back to Lock, Stock and Two Smokin’ Barrels. (Sadly, I wasn’t able to interview him for this movie due to my other part-time job, but you’ll get an actual review instead!)  Also, I think the movie will do decently but probably not more than $10 million since STX is dropping it into around 2,000 theaters, which isn’t particularly wide.
Mini-Review: Back in the late ‘90s, when Guy Ritchie first made his big debut with Lock, Stock, he was coming on the tail end of a new breed of directors like Tarantino and Smith who proved that screenplay-driven ensemble movies could deliver big audiences. In the time since then, Tarantino has gotten bigger and bigger for that feat, while Ritchie has tried a lot of different things, including last year’s Aladdin.
It’s pretty exciting to see Ritchie returning to the world of crime and to jolly old England with the addition of a few Americans like Matthew McConaughey as mega-wealthy drugdealer Mickey Pearson, who has turned his upper-class connections quite literally into a farm industry. Mickey is ready to sell the business, hoping to get $400 million from Jeremy Strong’s interested investor.
The story is told through a framing sequence involving a strange character named Fletcher, played by Hugh Grant, having an extended conversation with Charlie Hunnam’s Ray, Mickey’s “fixer,” of sorts. It’s another fantastic performance by Grant that really allows him to push the envelope with a heavy cockney accent. Another great performance comes from Colin Farrell as the coach of a group of young and bratty MMA fighers who break into one of Mickey’s farms.
Using this storytelling method, Ritchie doesn’t give his entire hand away at once, instead revealing just what’s necessary to keep the viewer tuned in. The film features another witty script and it’s thoroughly entertaining, although it’s also somewhat confounding at times trying to keep track of all the characters and how they relate.
In that sense, The Gentlemen is slightly flawed, but it’s also a welcome return for Ritchie to do what he does best, and there’s no denying that there’s quite a bit to enjoy here. Rating: 7/10
Tumblr media
The third horror movie of January (with another one next week!) is THE TURNING (Universal), a horror take on Henry James’ novel “The Turn of the Screw,” starring Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate), Finn Wolfhard (It) and the adorable Brooklynn Prince from The Florida Project. The basic premise involves a nanny played by Davis, who is brought to an enormous mansion to care for two kids. Once there, she is told by the kids that there are dark forces in the house, and she starts to believe them.  I had a chance to speak to the film’s director, Floria Sigismondi, an amazing visual artist whose only previous feature film was The Runaways, starring Kristen Stewart.  The movie is also written by the Hayes Brothers, who wrote the original The Conjuring, and produced by Roy Lee (The Conjuring and It), so there’s quite a decent pedigree for this movie. I also conducted a great interview with Ms. Sigismondi that you can check out on Next Best Picture.
As the third horror movie this month, I’m not sure this can deliver where the previous two (The Grudge and Underwater) failed, especially without much star power, but because it’s January, and there’s very little else to do, it can probably make $8 to 10 million in its 2,500 theaters.
Tumblr media
Opening in moderate release this weekend  (theater count TBD) is filmmaker Todd Robinson’s THE LAST FULL MEASURE (Roadside Attractions), a military drama that the director has been trying to make for a decade. He’s pulled together an amazing cast that includes Christopher Plummer, Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris, Diane Ladd, Sebastian Stan, Bradley Whitford, Peter Fonda, William Hurt, Jeremy Irvine and Michael Imperioli. I still remember Robinson mentioning this project when I spoke to him for his excellent movie Lonely Heartswhen we spoke for ComingSoon.netway back in 2007, having seen that movie at the Tribeca Film Festival.
It involves a group of Vietnam vets trying to get a brave soldier, Airman William H. Pitsenberger Jr. (played by Irvine), the Medal of Honor for his actions on the battlefield to save them 34 years after his death. It sounds like a terrific premise, so it’s a movie I’ve been waiting to see for a very long time.  I’m not sure exactly how many theaters Roadside Attractions will release the movie into, but I doubt it will be enough to get it into the top 10, as I think it will end up making $2 to 3 million at best. (This probably would have been a good movie to release over Veterans’ Day, but I guess it was afraid of Roland Emmerich’s Midway, which did end up winning that weekend.)
Mini-Review: It’s pretty obvious what a passion project this must have been for filmmaker Todd Robinson from the time it’s taken for him to get this movie made, but once watch how this story plays out, it’s much more obvious why he was so driven. Even fifty years after the events depicted in the film’s Vietnam War flashback
It’s 1999, and Sebastian Stan plays Scott Huffman, an Air Force attorney working at the Pentagon who is assigned the duty of investigating the heroics of Airman William H. Pitsenberger Jr., who dropped into one of the bloodiest battles of the Vietnam War to save a number of soldiers. William Hurt plays Tulley, the soldier that comes to Huffman, although the lawyer tries to put him off due to the upcoming regime change. Against his will, Scott has to pursue this endeavor, so he goes to interview a number of the living men who were there on that fateful day.
What’s amazing about Robinson’s film is that while it focuses mainly on Stan’s character, the various actors he meets on his journey deliver some absolutely amazing performances, from Christopher Plummer (as the dead airman’s dying father), Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris and the late Peter Fonda.
At its worst, The Last Full Measure veers into TV movie melodrama, so it takes some of the stronger actors to drag it back. The worst example of this are the scenes between Stan and his ersatz family, which seems the most like needless scenes added to create some sort of artistic license. It probably will be little surprise that many of the names and circumstances have been changed for similar reason.
It’s a shame that Roadside Attractions doesn’t have enough faith in this movie to give this a bigger push, instead dumping it into a January weekend with little fanfare. Sure, this is certainly the type of movie that cynical film critics like tearing apart, trying to find faults over the good…. And there’s a lot of good to be had. There’s no denying that this is an important story that needs to be told, and hopefully, the audiences that might appreciate it will be able to find it. Rating: 7.5/10
What should be interesting to see if the horror film The Turning does well enough to surpass Dolittle for third place or falls just short. Either way, Universal will have three movies in the top 5, which is quite remarkable considering what a horrid December the studio had.
This week’s Top 10 should look something like this…
1. Bad Boys for Life (Sony) - $29.5 million -53%
2. 1917 (Universal) - $13 million -41% (up 1 million)*
3. Dolittle (Universal) - $10.1 million -54%
4. The Turning (Universal) - $9.3 million N/A (up .2 million)*
5. The Gentlemen (STXfilms) - $8.6 million N/A (up .1 million)*
6. Jumanji: The Next Level  (Sony) - $5 million -48%
7. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Lucasfilm/Disney) - $4 million -52%
8. Little Women (Sony)  - $3.5 million -45%
9. Just Mercy (Warner Bros.) - $3.1 million -47%
10. Knives Out  (Lionsgate) - $2.6 million -40%
- The Last Full Measure (Roadside Attractions) - $2 million N/A (down .5 million)*
* UPDATE: Not a ton of changes but mainly a little bit of tweaking due to revised theater counts
LIMITED RELEASES
Tumblr media
Not a ton of limited releases of note that I’ve seen, although I did see Richard Stanley’s sci-fi thriller COLOR OUT OF SPACE (RLJE Films), starring the one and only Nicolas Cage, and I even spoke to Stanley, an interview you’ll be able to read on Next Best Picturehopefully later this week. It’s based on HP Lovecraft’s short story, and in the movie, Cage plays an Alpaca farmer whose family is affected by a meteorite that falls on the property, causing all sorts of bizarre changes both mentally and physically. It’s another movie where Cage can go a little nuts, but I also liked the performances by Madeleine Arthur and Joely Richardson, who ALSO appears in The Turning this weekend. There are also some smaller roles from Q’orianka Kilcher (from Malick’s The New World) and the great comic, Tommy Chong.  There will be a special screening tonight in select cities with a satellite QnA with Stanley and Cage, and then it opens for real Friday. Being RLJE, it should be On Demand shortly afterwards.
Oddly, I haven’t seen any of the movies in the franchise that brings us DETECTIVE CHINATOWN 3  (Wanda Pictures/WB International), but the previous installments of director Sicheng Chen’s police action-comedy must have done well enough for people to want to see more of detectives Tang Ren (Baoquiang Wang) and Qin Feng (Haoran Liu) to get a third movie. The first movie made $120.6 million worldwide while the sequel made $544 million, so yeah, a third movie was inevitable. The sequel made less than $2 million domestically but one can expect that Chinese audiences in America will help the third movie do similarly. For comparison, the latest installment of the Ip Man franchise, starring Donny Yen, has grossed $3.5 million in North America. This will open in about 150 theaters.
Sadly, I also didn’t get a chance to see Dante Lam’s The Rescue (CMC Pictures), the Chinese filmmaker’s follow-up to his global blockbuster Operation Red Sea, before writing this column, but this is clearly one of the major Chinese tentpoles being released for the Lunar New Year movie season. It stars Eddie Peng from Operation Mekong as the captain of an elite rescue team, and it’s shot by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’s Oscar-winning cinematographer Peter Pau.  I’m hoping to see it this coming Friday.
Terry Crews stars as John Henry (Saban/Paramount) in Will Forbes, in this case Henry being an ex-gang member who puts aside his life of violence to take care of his aging father (played by Ken Foree from Dawn of the Dead )in South L.A. where he meets two immigrant kids on the run from his former gang leader (Ludacris), putting him in a tough spot. It will open in select cities and On Demand this Friday.
Bertrand Bonello, who made the excellent Nocturama a few weeks back, returns with his eighth feature Zombi Child (Film Movement), which is a very different take on the genre.  It draws from the true story of Clairvius Narcisse, who was reportedly zombified in 1962 Haiti, this one centering around Narcisse’s (fictional) orphaned granddaughter who is trying to fit in with the mostly white girls at her boarding school. It will open in New York at the Quad Cinemaand at Lincoln Center.
Lastly, there’s the Bollywood film Panga (FIP) from director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, starring Kangana Ranaut as a middle-class Indian woman and former kabaddiworld champion looking for new meaning as a wife and mother, who decides to return to the sport despite her age and responsibility to family. It will open in roughly 100 theaters.
REPERTORY
METROGRAPH (NYC):
Opening Friday at the Metrograph is the 1stU.S. release of the director’s cut of Jia Zhangke’s 2010 documentary I Wish I Knew, which looks at the past and present of Shanghai in a documentary full of interviews with people from all different walks of life including local actresses and fellow filmmaker Hou Hsiao-hsien. It also follows Zhangke’s favorite actress Zhao Tao, who was amazing in last year’s Ash is Purest White, as she explores the site of the Shanghai World Expo Park as it’s under construction. It’s a great film to learn more about the history of mainland China, something I greatly appreciated having been such a longtime inhabitant of Chinatown.
Even more exciting is that the Metrograph is starting a retrospective series for indie filmmaker Hal Hartleythis Friday, which is exciting since I’ve been such a big fan but haven’t seen nearly as many of his films as there are out there, having only seen his debut The Unbelievable Truth (1989) a few years back, also at the Metrograph. Hal Hartley will be at the Metrograph this Friday night, January 24, and then back on February 1 for screenings of Henry Fool (1997) and its 2006 sequel, Fay Grim. This weekend, you can see Trust from 1990, Simple Men (1992), 1994’s Amateur and more.
With the nomination of Julia Reichert and Steven Bonar’s American Factory receiving an Oscar nomination, Metrograph has put together a last-minute series, “The Academy-Nominated Films of Julia Reichert and Steven Bognar,” a program of three shorts including the 2009 short The Last Truck(shown with American Factory), 1976’s Union Maids and 1971’s Growing Up Female, and the 2006 miniseries A Lion in the House.
This weekend’s Late Nites at Metrograph  is the Jackie Chan action classic Police Story (1985). Oops, I made a little error as Playtime: Family Matinees, was supposed to be Taika Waititi’s 2016 film The Hunt for the Wilderpeople, but it got changed to Peter Weir’s 1989 movie Dead Poets Society, starring Robin Williams, which is also quite good.
ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE BROOKLYN (NYC)
Besides tonight’s “Weird Wednesday” of Brain Dead (1990), they’re doing a Troop Beverly Hills “Quote-Along” tomorrow night. If that isn’t good enough, on Monday, you can see the Lonely Island’s amazing Popstar: Never Stop Stopping either as part of the monthly “Out of Tune” hosted by my pal Jeremy Wein at 7pm or at 9:30 as a Sing-Along, well except that both are very close to sold out. Next week’s “Terror Tuesday” is the Japanese horror classic Ringu (1998) (I’ll be there) and then “Weird Wednesday” is 1979’s Killer Nun.
THE NEW BEVERLY (L.A.):
Wednesday’s “Afternoon Classics” is Ernest Borgnine’s 1955 film Marty, and then Weds. and Thurs’ night’s double feature is Bob & Carol & Ted & Aliceand Jacques Demy’s Model Shop, both from 1969. (The Saturday midnight screening of Scorsese’s Goodfellasis already sold out.) The weekend’s “Kiddee Matinee” is Miyazaki’s How’s Moving Castleand then the Monday Matinee is the 1971 thriller Klute. (Most of the weekend evening slots are taken up by Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood, just to make sure all the Oscar voters have a chance to see it in the next couple weeks.) Monday and Tuesday night is a Henry Hathaway double feature of The Lives of a Bengal Lancer(1935) and The Trailer of the Lonesome Pine (1936).
FILM FORUM (NYC):
While the “Black Women: Trailblazing African American Performers & Images, 1920 – 2001” continues this weekend with the 1934 and 1959 iterations of Imitation of Life, as well as screenings of What’s Love Got To Do with It, the Tina Turner biopic starring Angela Basset, who received an Oscar nomination for it, and then the Film Forum Jr. screening is The Wiz, starring Michael Jackson and Donna Summer. Other movies in the series include Cleopatra Jones, Gone with the Wind and Spike Lee’s debut She’s Gotta Have it. Film Forum is also doing a special Homage to Anna Karenina, the late Jean-Luc Godard muse who starred in many of his classics including Band of Outsiders, Alphaville, Pierrot Le Fou, plus six other films will be screened beginning Wednesday and through January 30. On Sunday, Film Forum is showing Lee Grant’s 2005 documentary A Father … a Son … Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which is about Kirk and Michael Douglas with Grant in person doing a QnA. This weekend begins “Cinematic Void 2020” with the Friday selection being Dario Argento’s The Cat O’Nine Tails (1971), followed on Saturday by a 5-movie Giallo Marathon, including Argento’s Opera(1987), Bava’s A Blade in the Dark (1983), Fulci’s The Black Cat  (1981), and two more. This week’s “Sunday Print Edition” is Carol Reed’s Night Train to Munich(1940) in 35mm in the afternoon and then Richard Benjamin and Dyan Cannon will be on hand to discuss the amazing 1973 thriller The Last of Sheila, one of my favorite movies.
AERO  (LA):
Besides a matinee screening of Scorsese’s Goodfellas on Thursday (free to Cinemateque members), the AERO begins a “Ford Vs.” series with a double feature of John Ford’s The Quiet Man  (1952) with Sam Peckinpah’s classic Straw Dogs (1971). Friday is Ford’ sStagecoach(1939) with Kelly Reichardt’s Meek’s Cutoff  (2010). Saturday at 9AM, you can watch a triple-feature of Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3, and then in the afternoon, the AERO will show Toy Story 4 with guests. That’s a full day of Toy Story viewing! Saturday night’s “Ford Vs.” is Ford’s The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance with Akira Kurosawa’s Sanjuro, both from 1962. Sunday night’s double is Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in the West  (1968) with Ford’s My Darling Clementine (1946). Tuesday’s Scorsese matinee is his debut Mean Streets.

wisteria
i’ll cling to you.
fandom: midnight cinderella notes: suitors/reader, a collection of fluff drabbles for the suitors of midnight cinderella (minus one). mostly spoiler free (watch out for leo’s, at least)
alyn
the fairytales say that princesses are dainty little things. they dance, they wear dresses and chatter over afternoon tea, they find a prince charming, and live happily ever after. princesses do not handle blades - danger is not meant to reach them, for what is what knights are for.
damn what the fairytales say.
there’s no drop of royal blood in you anyways, and this is what comforts you when your fingers slide down the cold metal. it does not feel like danger, but it does feel like home.
“are you sure you want to do this?” alyn’s voice is paranoid, overprotective. you can’t blame him, because accidents do happen, and your smooth, clean skin is a temptation for calamity. yet at the same time, as princess elect of wysteria, you have but one duty, and a wound to your flesh is a mere paper cut compared to a kingdom without a ruler.
most of all, you remind him, luxurious silk gowns don’t go well with princess blood.
a sigh tumbles out, but so does “fair point”.  he reaches out and takes your hand in his, starting off with the basics. with his guidance, you mimic and practice the exercises, trying not to imagine the inevitable bloodshed and violence. his fingers trace the skin where it is most vulnerable, where it is most efficient to stick blades in, and now you know why pocket knives are such popular weapons, even for the common thief.
a stab to the heart, a simple knock to the head, just one little mishap and perhaps you’ll never see the light of day again.
“now, come at me. i’ll test you.”
alyn assumes the role of guard on watch, back turned. the veins in your hands pulse like a ticking clock, and as your arms lift up, you can just feel it, the adrenaline behind your force, the almost frightful thrill that shocks your body as you swing the blade forward -
.. and his fingers snatch your arm. alyn’s other hand steadies you, and he steals a kiss when you whirl around in confusion.
“not bad, not bad.” he laughs, “fierce is a good look on you.”
giles
of all the things you’d expect to see, giles sleeping, face smashed against the oak desk, was not one of them. sleep makes his face look gentle, less like a strict tutor and more like the kindhearted cat lover you know.
maybe it’s not that surprising. he wears many hats, some of which should not rest on his head. yet they fall on him anyway, for there is always something to do, something to achieve. for giles christophe, being busy is a way to prove that his life has worth, even if it meant he couldn’t be a knight, even if it meant he’d have to tire the hell out of himself every night.
without him, the palace could crumble. few men can carry the weight of a country on their shoulders. speaking of shoulders, you figure adding a blanket to those wouldn’t hurt; it is rather cold, and oh, those windows will need to be shut too. around his office do you go, your feet automatically moving, your hands cleaning up a bit here and there.
minutes pass until your hands latch on to some amethyst fabric, embossed in the wysterian crest. bunching it up around your fists, you deem it warm enough, and layer it upon his shoulders.
the moment it touches him, he springs to life.
“princess…?” your title cracks on his tongue, bruised by the grogginess of his voice. how tired he sounds could break your heart.
“please don’t worry about me.” you add, “and … take care of yourself more.”
giles says nothing, though the outer corners of his lips turn up gently as you tuck the layer in. a few more finishing adjustments, and you are satisfied with your work, heels turning to let him rest in peace.
before you can even take a step away, however, familiar hands intertwine with one of yours.
“i love you, princess.”
louis
the harp really does suit him. it’s the picture of elegance; the strings and the base are as slender as he, the notes resonate with an unmatched gentleness, and the way his fingers pluck at it is just so, so graceful.
“would you like to try?”
ah. you’ve been staring too long, it seems. the lovely chimes have long stopped, and the heat of iced eyes gnaws at you. expectant, the duke’s gaze lays down a heavy peer pressure, but you know he’s being nothing but kind - you’d never have the guts to ask or intrude otherwise.
he eases when you break out into smiles and nods, ice melting into water. a featherlight smile balances on his lips, which kiss your knuckles as he takes your hand in his.
lithe fingers cover yours, and while your mind spins into a spell, all you can think about is how this is exactly like your dance lessons: he’s close, you’re blushing, and god is your heart pounding. blond bangs sweep across your forehead for a second, and his warm, soft lips press a kiss to your nose.
“don’t lose concentration now.” his voice is soft, edging on teasing.
“ah, sorry!“
leo
he’s the rumpelstiltskin of words. smooth talker, charismatic aristocrat - he takes words and spins them into gold. whether it was written or spoken did not matter; he was a master of both. paperwork ran in his blood, his speeches just came to him, and on the tip of his tongue always lies a jest, a pick-up line. with them, he crafts a mask to hide behind, locking the secret of who he was behind insincere pleasantries and vague hints.
and you, your heart is too full of compassion, your tiny body can’t possibly hold it all. it’s why your emotions spill so easily on your face, your eyes and lips swinging from one expression to another. in a way, the two of you are opposites, leo with his cryptic, static smiles, and you with your whirlwind face.
maybe that’s why you don’t get him sometimes.
hovering over the palace balcony with his face pulled taut, the bureaucrat appears to be set in stone. red, red eyes burn downwards, as if daring to peek at the midnight blue above would hurt. for the fifth consecutive night, leo hasn’t seen a wink of sleep, and you are beginning to wonder if he’s fallen into the past again.
it worries you, and you want to say something, anything, but you know better than anyone that forcing words is treading on thin ice. the past is thick waves of flames and dead parents, the lost childhood that burnt down with the crawford estate. it is a past that you have no part of, because you are his future, the future of healing waters and happy memories, and he wants you nowhere near that fire, lest it start burning once more.
from the bedroom, you bore hores into his back with your own eyes, adamant. tomorrow he will be gone, off to sort his fiasco of a family, diving back into the matter he hates most. this time, however, you will not let him go alone.
“you know, i’d do anything to keep you safe.” it’s a phrase that sounds foreign on your tongue, so foreign that it quivers. but it does take his eyes away, distracts from whatever might be tormenting him.
“so let me come too.”
he breaks from his statuesque stance, pulls you close, and it’s a mess of limbs and stray bedsheets; his hair tickles your neck when he inclines for a cuddle, and there’s so much squirming that you fear the shuffling could reach giles’ ears. when you two finally settle, with you sitting upright and his head on your lap, the silence is replaced by laughter.
“thanks.”
robert
when robert had asked to paint you, you were excited. as crown princess, it really shouldn’t have been a big deal - portraits were nearly tradition to royalty, and never had they not been painted. but when you’ve spent the last decade of your life in the shoes of a commoner, however, such things were new; they were a privilege, a dream so far that it’d never be truer than a fairy tale.
but this was not how you thought it would be.
perhaps you’ve misconstrued his words somehow. hm… yes, yes that must have been it. rainbows of colours surround you, held captive in glass bottles. brushes of duck feathers and horse tail skim the floor lazily. the painter himself wields one now, dyed in some fusion of scarlet… and gently swipes the end over the curve of your lips.
it’s soft, and it tickles. clutching at the hem of your favourite dress, you bunch up the fabric in imitation of the courage you’re trying to muster, the courage to ask hey, aren’t paintings made on mediums such as canvases, and you know… not me?
before the words can even catch in your throat, robert slips his fingers under your chin, and tilts your face towards him. “what’s wrong, love?”
the affectionate term makes you flush.
“aren’t you supposed to be painting me and not on me?” it’s an innocent question, honest, but somehow it makes him raise a brow and chuckle.
“i’d have to paint your portrait sooner or later, princess. i just thought… something more personal would be nice.“ he smiles, and within that small quirk of his lip, you see mischievous intent.
so you play along.
“tell me what you mean by ‘personal’.”
another grin surfaces on his face, this one a tinge more wolffish. he leans in close, kisses the lip colour off your mouth, and prepares his brush in a new color, a pale peach.
“mmm…i’ll tell you when i’m done with you.”
sid
“they makin’ you study again, princess?” disdain stains the informant’s voice, his fingers clipping up the pages of the book with disgust, as if it were contaminated. “bullshit.”
he continues this game as he tours your study, long legs taking wide strides, sneering at every article. if you didn’t know him any better, he’d seem like he were impersonating the bureaucrats around you, with his nose pointed high, his steps taken with arrogance.
you purse your lips, hide your smile. amused as you are, the matter of your duties takes priority, and the princess of wysteria has much more important things to do over entertaining her local bad boy.
at least, that is what you tell yourself, eyes endlessly fixated on him. damn him for being so alluring, so distracting in a way.
"I need to study.” it comes out colder than you want it to be, but hey, that’s not your problem. not like it’d affect him much, anyway; he gets this treatment from a fellow blonde duke all the time, does he not?
yet his face collapses in exasperation nonetheless, as if he were already tired of this “princess” thing. dark brows knit for a split second, and when they relax back, his voice takes on a sensual edge.
“really?” another book is tossed to the ground, “guess i’ll have to tutor ya myself.”
“and why, exactly, would you be a good tutor?”
“because i know shit.”
you can practically hear the grin in his voice. it’s his trademark smirk, the one you always want to slap off. or kiss off. either works.
“i really need to study, sid.”
and you whip back, intending to tackle your problem subject yet again, but what you don’t know is that sid has you too close to let you go.
the minute your skin flushes against the leather bound cover of the textbook, his hands have slammed down on either side of you, and the birch desk creaks in protest to the added weight.
“nah. you don’t.”
the man has you straddled in no more than three minutes. lips nipping at the tender side of your ear, he’s got a grin that taunts “just try to get rid of me”.
it would be worthless to resist. like a lion, sid arnault gets what he wants, and he will fight for it.
“fine. just this once, okay?”
your fingers press against the thick fur of his coat, slipping under the layer and peeling it off. the husky chuckle that chafes your ears is telling of his approval, and he glides his fingers down your thighs, tapping the bone of your knees before tracing to your hip.
“this,” he murmurs, “is the femur.”
“that’s… not what i need to learn.”
“yeah, i know. but see? i know shit.”
your laugh stifles into a gasp when he leans in and bites your lip.
nico
fevers are weird.
they’re cold, and then they’re hot. they’re somewhere in between that isn’t “warm” nor “comfortable”, and the only relief for the affected comes from the sweet unconsciousness that sleep brings. most of all, however, they are an unwelcome visitor.
much like nico himself, you suppose, though colds cannot react to chilled glares and whispers of “who let this child into the palace?”, to the unrelenting judgement of haughty nobles and veteran staff, the treatment that you know all too well.
it’s a miracle how all that cheer can fit into him, now that you think about it.
nico meier, he’s always sprightly smiles and spring flowers around you (or perhaps, for you). your personal butler and self-established cheerleader, there is not a day where he has failed to brighten you up, sneaking in extra food from the pantry, or making silly faces when giles dives into another one of his motherly lectures. it never mattered if blurred figures of nobility looked down upon him, it never mattered if it hurt to be an outsider, but what did matter to him was you.
you drench the towel in ice water, fold it into neat rectangles for his forehead. as the cloth wrings in your hands, your heart does too. he does so much for you, never complains, and yet… perhaps you’ve taken him for granted.
the flutter of weak fingertips halts you. nico’s eyes settle open, a hoarse “hey..” escaping as the butler attempts to wrangle on a grin. a few seconds pass, and he’s betrayed by his own body, shivering as he tosses around with a groan.
a finger to your lips, you shush him, ushering him back under the comforter.
“just for today, let me serve you.”
bryon
novels stack his desk, the tower of books neatly aligned in a pillar. normally, they wouldn’t matter to you; it’s usually yet another cocktail of history texts, spiced with a math book or two. if you were lucky, perhaps there’d be a pamphlet about stargazing or the native flora. today, everything in the queue alarms you: they’re all silly romance novels, a “guide to love”, and… wait, is he reading a book about pick up lines? the king of stein, a stoic with hawk eyes, byron wagner.. studying romance?
“bryon?”
you’re tempted to ask why, but the shock chains your voice away. he looks up, but only briefly, flashing his focus back down to a dog eared page.
“are you a library book? because i am checking you out.”
“…”
the intention is sweet. the execution? questionable. you haven’t heard of many men who could charm women with monotone lines. in fact, you haven’t heard of any, nor have you ever met any other man who would say such things with a gaze so sharp it could kill.
you suck in a breath, pretending as if you’ve just eaten a sour candy.
“did sid do th- no. don’t answer that. i already know.”
the king’s expression hardens at the response, forehead scrunching up in thought. it’s almost as if the cogs in his brain were visible, really; there they were, churning about what went wrong.
then, a minute later, he picks up the book and begins again.
“are you a -”
not even three syllables leave his parted lips before you press a hand against him, silencing his efforts. they were appreciated, they (honest-to-god!) really were, but it just doesn’t suit him, and you beg with desperate eyes that he gets the memo.
“is my performance… so intolerable?”
“well, it’s not very you.”
his dejection shows in the way his shoulders slump, his stature frigid as his brain goes back to the drawing board. you take it upon yourself to drape arms around him and kiss him on the cheek, but he’s unresponsive, unmoving. a mile-yard stare extending down his study, and his voice strains.
“what do I do with all these books now?”
albert
daisies splatter the meadow in patches here and there, splashes of white and yellow invading the greenery. though small by stein standards, it feels rather endless - though that may be due to the absurd amount of rabbits dotting the field.
you’d been told that it was the closest thing the country had to a petting zoo. correction: a petting zoo that specializes in only rabbits, but still, one nonetheless.
the brown fluff underneath your fingers feels like luxury. soft, light, and smooth, you wonder what kind of haircare products could achieve this sort of texture and sheen. surely, it would involve part intensive care and part good genetics-
“er… excuse me, princess of wysteria, but i am not one of the rabbits.” albert stammers, in that all too familiar, all too judging ‘what are you doing?’ tone of his. he’s part flustered and part annoyed, such a typical albert mood, and it makes you want to tease him more.
and so, hands still tangled in that neat, neat fluff of hair he has, you smile and nod, “yes, albert. i’m very aware of that.”
the sing-song tone makes his face contort into displeasure, and his lips sputter to voice a complaint. silly albert, always so stiff, even when you’re obviously playing games with him.
you sigh and offer him a practiced pout, fingers escaping onto benjamin’s fur. rubbing behind the rabbit’s ears, you coo, eye faking sorrow, “you appreciate my touch, don’t you?”
the bunny stares with wide eyes, innocent and unknowing. burying his nose into your palm, he sniffs, once, twice, and twitches before settling snugly under your attentive fingers, satisfied.
its approval elicits another string of babyish babble from you, and out of the corner of your eyes, albert huffs, giving in to jealously. ha! beaten by a mere bunny rabbit, hm?
scooting closer to you, his knees knock against yours, and the sensation of cold fingers running up your scalp forces a squeal out of you. the knight flushes to his ears, mumbles something incoherent in his bumbling.
“my hair is soft as well, princess.”
you don’t know what shocks you more: the fact that albert’s statement sounds like a complaint, or the fact that he’s acting a bit…. childish.
“really?” your response is mockingly dramatic, spoken to provoke. “I wouldn’t know.”
the shade of red he turns nearly makes you think he invented a new colour.
author’s notes: AHAHAHA (!!) i finally got all of it down…. if anyone’s curious why rayvis isn’t here it’s because i know too little of him to write him, and i fear writing the suitors ooc already… i’ve only done louis/alyn/leo’s routes so i have no idea what’s up with the rest and had to spoil myself
the title is just the alternative spelling to wysteria, which is both the name of the country and that really nice lavender plant. in the victorian language of flowers, its meaning derives from its tendency to cling to walls and grow, thus the flavor text.
pretend this is a celebratory piece for albert’s route coming out since i know i won’t be able to finish a piece for him before then

It's the first post for the month of June, and it's a Random-News-Digest! Thanks to my internet, the previous one was 3 weeks ago though. That means, it's catching up time... and there's a lot of it. Here goes nothing...
Disney Live Action
Another live action reimagining has potentially been added to the list of upcoming releases. Director Sam Mendes, who did James Bond's "Skyfall" and "Spectre", apparently entered early talks to work on "Pinocchio"! Mendes was previously attached to adapt "James and the Giant Peach". But according to Variety, that project is officially not happening, so the chances of Mendes moving on to "Pinocchio" is really high. With Guy Ritchie's "Aladdin" about to start production real soon, possibly followed by Niki Caro's "Mulan" as well as Jon Favreau's "The Lion King", Disney Pictures is currently sitting on a remake comfort-zone. No official casting news have been announced for neither of those projects those, but as we get closer and closer to Disney D23, I suspect things are going to come to light pretty soon. Let's just hope these movies will be as good and successful as what we've gotten so far...
Saint Seiya
Well, this news was truly a surprising one! According to Eiga.com (via Anime News Network), TOEI Animation and Chinese distribution company called A Really Good Film Company (that's the real name) are co-producing a live action movie based on the franchise. Tomek Baginski, a Polish director will be directing the movie. Jeffrey Chan, Yoshi Ikezawa, Joseph Chou will produce, while original manga writer Masami Kurumada, Kozo Morishita, Tim Kwok, and Miguel Faura are serving as executive producers.
Truth be told, I had mixed reaction about this, and that sentiment has remained the same until now. I've always thought that the "Saint Seiya" franchise is PERFECT for Hollywood adaptations, considering most of the characters, especially the Gold Saints... are practically Greek guys with a story that takes place in a Greecian setting as well. The cloths, especially the Gold Saints ones, would easily look amazing as real life armors. Heck, TOEI recently held an exhibition where they showcased the Gold Cloths in 1:1 scale, and that idea worked! So this sounded like a great news already. On the other hand, at the same time, I'm not sure whether they will pull it off. Particularly with the failure that was "Ghost in the Shell" back in March. Not to mention, a Chinese company, instead of a Japanese, or at least Hollywood is working on it. Not trying to be racist, but I don't have a lot of faith in Chinese companies.
My biggest concern is that they might go the "Dragon Ball Evolution" and "Ghost in the Shell" mishap, by altering the core Bronze Saints to be white teenagers instead of Japanese. That would instantly become a huge WTH for me. IMHO, at least the cast for Seiya, Shun, and Ikki should be Japanese. If they need exception, both Hyouga and Shiryu can easily be one. The former can be reimagined as European, since the character is partially Russian anyway (hence the blonde hair), while the latter, can naturally be rewritten as Chinese (still needs to be Asian though). A lesser concern, is the fact that the series never really took off in the US, as much as it was hugely popular in South American region. Once again, if "Ghost in the Shell" couldn't sell well, I honestly doubt the same would happen to "Saint Seiya". So it's already a big question mark. But let's keep an open mind, and well... we'll see.
Charlie's Angels
I didn't realize that the last "Charlie's Angels" movie was released back in 2003! That's more than a decade, and precisely 14 years ago. Which means, the movie (not TV) franchise has entered the right age for reboot, remake, reimagining, or the likes. It's Hollywood folks, so what do you expect? And I'll be damned, because that IS the case. Elizabeth Banks is set to direct a reboot movie for the franchise, and it will arrive on June 7th, 2019. That's legit release date, so yeah, it IS happening. There aren't any detailed information about it yet, but I think we can expect to hear one by summer. Now I can't tell if this is a good or bad news, but I'm always game to see tough and powerful women kick some bums on screen. Who knows, perhaps we might get Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, and other Oscar winners as the lead characters. THAT would be wake af!
Hellboy
Not unlike "Charlie's Angels", the same is happening to "Hellboy" franchise as well. While fans have been asking director Guillermo del Toro and/or actor Ron Perlman for a third movie... to relatively zero success, Millennium instead has decided to go on another route: REBOOT. Yes, in a report released precisely a day after my previous R-N-D went up (meaning, it's close to a month ago XD), the studio has gone into negotiations with producer Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin for an R-rated relaunch of the franchise. The working title is "Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen", and Neil Marshall is set to direct from a script by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden, and Mike Mignola. That last one is the creator of "Hellboy" himself, and he was the one who first broke the news. Marshall would then develop a new script with Aron Coleite.
I'm never a fan of the first two movies, so I can't really say anything good about this. I don't know how I feel, to be frank! LOL. Yet the news somehow got better, when I read the name of the actor who was in talks for the titular role. David Harbour! Yes, that Sheriff of the hit Netflix series "Stranger Things", who was considered to play Cable. I don't know about you, but Harbour sounds like the younger more charming-looking version of Perlman, so this news made me perked up! Okay, that was honestly hyperbole. I'm still unsure about this franchise, but I can safely say that I will at least give it a try... just because Harbour is starring. Ahahaha! But you know what? Perhaps rebooting might indeed be the right decision. There's definitely potentials to be HUGE. It can start fresh without the burden of continuity. And also... attracts new audience who was previously unaware or couldn't care less of the title, right? Like yours truly... *grins*.
DC Films
While it's unclear when we will ever see Dwayne Johnson finally fulfilling his dream to play supervillain "Black Adam", the actor has gone on record to propose an actor to play the protagonist counterpart of his character. And that actor is... Armie Hammer. Okay, HUH? I liked Hammer, so it COULD work. But is he the right man for Shazam? Nope, I really don't think so. Perhaps an Oliver Queen or Hal Jordan, but definitely not as a jacked-up Billy Batson. By the way, Johnson's "Baywatch" recently failed to even make a dent in the box office. Does this mean his popularity is fading? How will this affect his DC movies then? Hmmm...
Fresh from angsty "Power Rangers", and into the murky waters of "Aquaman"! Young chinese actor Ludi Lin, has joined the cast to play Murk. A character who is supposed to be Jason Momoa's Arthur Curry's trusted ally. How on Earth does a Hawaiian and Chinese became Atlantean is beyond me, but this was clearly a nice act to push diversity. Director James Wan also proudly showcased a really WET Amber Heard's Mera via his Twitter. I was still indifferent about it, and still won't be seeing the movie, but looks like many liked it. So that's... good, right? "Aquaman" is set to arrive on December 21st, 2018.
If there's a title that's been going on and off in a seemingly concerning state, it's none other than "The Flash". But perhaps, things are slowly running towards a better track. Why? Assuming that Entertainment Weekly report could be hold accountable, then Robert Zemeckis is indeed in talks to take over the movie after Rick Famuyiwa walked out. And guess the other name being on the contender list? The helmer of "Kingsman" himself, Matthew Vaughn! Not just him, both Sam Raimi and Marc Webb apparently were frontrunners as well, but have since passed. Oddly, the news arrived alongside a rumor of actor Billy Crudup walking out of the movie. One that has been debunked, considering he would be showing up in "The Justice League".
Speaking of the League, it became one of the most talked about news last month. Why? Because shockingly, director Zack Snyder alongside wife and producer Deborah had officially stepped down from the movie's post production and reshoots. He's taking some time off to deal with personal family loss/tragedy (my condolences to the Snyders). This has prompted mixed reactions from movie fans, particularly DC ones with their... insensitive and disturbing remarks regarding the situation. And here I thought they couldn't have gone that low!!! *sigh* The irony here was that Snyder has handed over the finishing duty to... *drumroll* the one and only... Joss Whedon! This was definitely an intriguing twist, because now Whedon would be famous for being involved in both Marvel and DC's ensemble movie. Of course, Warner Bros assured the audience, that Whedon's NOT taking over it completely, and just doing a favor to finish up the work. They said that the movie is still very much Snyder's work. Which was an ODD move, considering the negative impression Snyder has left with his first two DC movies. So... if you were among those who was worried that the movie is going to be as bad as his "Man of Steel" or "Batman v. Superman"? Well... don't jump out of that bandwagon just yet. At least, I think you should stick with the same concern until it has been proven otherwise. Remember, it's still a Snyder's and not Whedon's movie, and it opens on November 17th, 2017.
Another problem is running on the other League. This time, the "Justice League Dark" train. Remember how tall and mighty Doug Liman sounded when WB signed him to take over the project from Guillermo del Toro? Well, it seemed Liman might have just swallowed his own pride, because he's no longer attached to the movie. Liman moved on to work on a Lionsgate's project, so WB is currently on the hunt for his replacement. Back then, I would've instantly commented on this turnout. But now? Things like this has happened over and over again that I'm not even surprised when I read it. After all, it's just another setback to the universe, right? Nothing new here. LOL.
All these behind the scene problems that came in one after another, made you lose faith in WB and their DC Films, huh? Well, hold on to your horses, because I'm saving the best for last. And it's a GOOD news this time! Reviews embargo for Patty Jenkins' "Wonder Woman" has been lifted, and it has received positive reactions! Critics are easily calling it the best DCEU movie so far. Which means, basically better than "Man of Steel", "Batman v. Superman", and "Suicide Squad"... which admittedly weren't even a high bar it needed to top to begin with. LOL. When the first score was accumulated, it resulted a heaping 95% on Rotten Tomatoes! Which ironically begs the question: where has all those DC fans who claimed that RT is ruining DC movies run off to? Surprise suprise, they are out and about protesting and complaining about the Women Only Screening for the movie. SERIOUSLY?!
General comparison to "Captain America: The First Avengers" and "Thor" didn't surprise me, because the trailers have already given the exact vibe. But it's pleasant to know that eventhough those trailers didn't work at all for me, they didn't really capture the spirit and wonder of the movie itself. Which is nice, because in my opinion, it's much better when the trailers are bad but the movie is good, and not the other way around. And when I said the 'other way around', I was obviously referring to those previous 3 DC Films. They all had trailers that many folks claimed to be 'great' or 'amazing', when their actual movies failed to even generate the same response. So if the opposite is happening to "Wonder Woman", it's ironically GOOD, right? The big question now, will "The Justice League" catch on to deliver the same success, finally giving WB a good streak, or will it fumbles into its previous mishaps all over again? Somehow I have a feeling it will be the latter. Oh well, at the very least, the movie will have a good Wonder Woman (step aside, grumpy Superman or violent Batman!). Here's hoping "Wonder Woman" will inspire audience to see more of her, and help give a boost to "The Justice League".
One more thing. I also sincerely hope the positive critical response to "Wonder Woman" is a sign that WB would finally be stepping back on its destructive mentality. All these time, rather than doing their best to deliver a great movie for fans, WB has been focused on one thing: competing with Marvel Studios and trying to top it if not take it down. Which is a SILLY notion on its own, because Marvel Studios already had a long headstart, so no matter what attempts WB tries to be 'different', DC Films will ALWAYS be compared to Marvel Studios' releases no matter what. Ironically, the one and only possible way they could really bring down Marvel Studios from 'the competition', is by damaging the future prospect of superhero genre. Unlike WB and their other variety of franchises, Marvel Studios relies heavily on adaptation to their comic book characters. So by producing bad superhero movies, WB might have unknowingly (or have they? hmmm) been planting the seed of destruction to the genre, which could also lead towards the downfall of Marvel Studios. This helps explain why Marvel Studios have generally refused to say bad things about DC Films, and instead continuously wishing them to do great. They know what's at stake here, and how the genre's longetivity is so much more important than a pointless childish rivalry. A rivalry that WB and its directors, producers, and actors has been flaming over and over again. I sincerely hope, that with Geoff Johns (who used to write for Marvel Comics) finally in full charge, WB and DC Film will turn over a new leaf and proceed with a positive and hopeful heart. One that does not require them to continue being the jerk of the industry...
Dark Universe
Nooo, this isn't about WB's supposed "Justice League Dark" movie. It's a category previously known as... "Universal Monsters". Yes, as if the news of Doug Liman leaving the movie wasn't enough, Universal Studios officially snatched the title of that exact upcoming DC Film movie. Now there's no way WB will be able to use the title again, unless the law sits in in their favor. Don't believe me? Universal has even released a trailer for it. \ So yeah, it IS officially a done deal, no more beating around the bushes. Tom Cruise-starring "The Mummy" will INDEED be the first of its kinds.
Apparently, their Shared Universe's interconnective tissue would be a mysterious multi-national organization called Prodigium, the one possibly led by Russell Crowe's Dr. Jekyll. Who, as the original tale suggests, WILL indeed turn into Mr. Hyde. Oooohhh... juicy! I mean, this might sound really strange, but seeing Crowe turns dark and monstrous somehow makes me all... giddy. Yeah folks, while everyone is busy oggling Cruise and his endless foray of dangerous self-performed stunts, it's Crowe's inclusion that would be my primary reason to see this movie. And I'm not kidding, this might also sound weird, but he was one of the reason I enjoyed "Les Miserables" too *grins*. Of course, if you're still not convinced about seeing this movie on June 9th, you can check out the third and final trailer, just to be sure of your... uh, life choices. LOL.
What directly comes next after "The Mummy", is the "The Bride of Frankenstein"! Bill Condon has been tapped to work on this movie, based on the script by David Koepp. It has even been set for February 14th, 2019 release, which is Valentine's Day, so things will perhaps be more... romantic. I'm personally curious to know why they don't have another project for 2018, but perhaps unlike WB that seems to rush things, Universal wants to take this slowly? Anyway, knowing the title, it's clear that they will be skipping Frankenstein's origin story. The casting hasn't been made official until now, but Javier Bardem has stated his enthusiasm for the role, so highly likely the role is his to play with. As for who will be playing the titular Bride, names like Charlize Theron, Salma Hayek, and Nicole Kidman have been thrown around for a while now, with Angeline Jolie being the most favored of all. Let's just wait and see who gets it then...
Of course, things are currently riding on the success of "The Mummy". If it does manage to achieve one, at least in the minimum amount of expectation, then we can count on seeing Johnny Depp as Invicible Man, Dwayne Johnson as Wolfman, and so on. If NOT, then I honestly don't know what would happen. Marvel Studios kept on moving despite the response to "Iron Man 2", and now its Marvel Cinematic Universe has become the first and most successful of its kind. WB was persistent enough with their DC Films, that eventhough their first three movies was poorly received critically (among plenty other production issues), they have continued limping their way to produce their first good movie in "Wonder Woman". Will Universe follow suit, for better or worse, inspite of general audience's possible fatigue concerning this forced Cinematic Universe approach? As always, we'll see...
SONY Marvel Universe
Many people ridiculed SONY Pictures when they announced the solo "Venom" movie. Movie writers and journalists didn't quite buy it, until a more concrete news arise. Some fans even questioned how a Spider-Man spin-off would work, in a non-MCU universe WITHOUT Spider-Man. But then SONY dropped a bombshell, by officially announcing a lead actor and director for the project. And they were NOT messing around. Tom Hardy, that great often-under-appreciated Oscar nominee, whose performance as Bane in "The Dark Knight Rises" became the joke of many DC fans, has signed on to play Eddie Brock. And that's because he's a fan of the character! WOW. Ruben Fleischer, is set to direct the movie, based on the script by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. So it's happening folks, it IS happening.
The same goes to the Silver Sable and Black Cat movie. The project that has been officially titled as "Silver and Black", is closing in on a director. When the news hit last week, Gina Prince-Bythewood was in negotiations to helm the movie. I can't really tell if she's a great director or not, but apparently her work "Beyond the Lights" was highly-appreciated. Chris Yost, who worked on the upcoming Thor movie, is writing the script with Lisa Joy. And Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal are producing. So this one IS happening too!
My reaction to these news? I LOVE Hardy, especially his performance in "Warriors" and "Inception". And seeing him headline a movie is always a joy, even if the movie itself might not be good at times. But great gawd, he would've made a great Kraven the Hunter instead of Eddie Brock!!! >:(... And yes, I might have jinxed it when I said that, because apparently there's a rumor flying around social media now, that "Silver and Black" will be using Kraven as the antagonist. Ouch! Is SONY trying to use up the Spider-Man characters, so that Marvel Studios can't use them as antagonists to Tom Holland's Peter Parker? I hope that's not the case, because I could be really angry about it. Moreso, I still don't see how "Venom" nor the pairing of "Silver and Black" makes for a good idea, especially since neither of them would be bouncing off against a Spider-Man. But let's take a deep breath, and just think positive about it, okay...
Uncharted
Speaking of Tom Holland, here's a pleasant little surprise that would make everyone, especially his and video game fans turn heads. The rising British actor has been cast, as young Nathan Drake for the "Uncharted" movie adaptation! Apparently, the Shawn Levy movie will play around Drake's younger days, as opposed to his mature adventures that have been depicted in the four games so far. It was said that SONY head Tom Rothman was impressed by Holland's performance in the upcoming Spider-Man movie, that he pushed for him to be the star of another franchise. The problem with this development, Joe Carnahan's script can no longer be used, possibly postponed until the movie requires an adult Drake. Levy is still onboard, but a new scriptwriter is being sought to work on a new version.
There was a flashback sequence in "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception" that showed Drake meeting his mentor Sullivan for the first time. That's likely the foundation of what this movie's going to be about. In a way, we can safely say that SONY is expecting Holland to grow into a charming athletic adventurer like Drake in future movies. Especially because movies like these usually takes at least two years to develop, and the now 20 years old Holland, would be almost 30 by the time he's working on a probable-third movie. You know what? I can totally buy that! And I'm certainly not alone in thinking this way.
And as for Holland's idea on Chris Pratt or Jake Gyllenhall playing a younger Sullivan/Sully? I'm a fan of both actors, so his statement definitely puts a really wide grin on my face. Not sure if they would be a good fit for the role (try picturing THIS IMAGE, but with Holland and any of those actors)... but yeaah, I'm totally down with that!
Marvel Studios
Yes, still talking about Holland. Because he's on THREE effing categories this time! What a year for this hunky young fella, eh? His Marvel Studios movie, "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is only a month away from arriving in the theatres, and the hype on social media is growing bigger and bigger. The third and so called final (lengthy, I presume?) trailer was released last week, and it showcased some extra scenes while rehashing the ones from previous two trailers. Considering the 2nd trailer has pretty much spoiled beat by beat of the actual movie, this final trailer didn't even bothered to do the same all over again. Who knows what the TV spots and clips will reveal though, because this feels like SONY's marketing, hence why it didn't feel like Marvel Studios' doing.
The good news is, the movie is tracking to a $135 million domestic opening number. Yes, that's a relatively lower number than Marvel Studios previous Summer releases, but it's still the highest number for any Spider-Man movies since 2002. A number that has consistently been declining, by the way, with the exception of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" in 2014. So despite the number feeling rather low, especially for a movie that has Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark, this is still something good on its own.
Meanwhile, now that "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is out for almost a whole month, director James Gunn is already hard at work on the next installment, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3". While the second movie made it clear that Chris Pratt's Peter Quill is the only Earthling member of the team, Gunn had openly revealed on social media, that such restriction will no longer apply in the third. In my opinion, Gunn specifically made the rule, likely to ensure Quill being the only representative of the planet, especially when we put into account Ego's 'celestial visit' to various planets. Since "Vol. 3" is set to take place after "Avengers: Infinity War" and Avengers 4, the Guardians would have been exposed to Earth, thus including more Earth-bound heroes like Nova or others should make more sense. Hey, even Brie Larson's Captain Marvel can be among their cosmic ranks too.
X-Men Universe
Josh Boone's "X-Men: The New Mutants" had scored, or rather confirmed its first two cast members. As previously rumored before, rising stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Maisie Williams have officially come onboard to play Russian mutant Magik and Scottish mutant Wolfsbane respectively. Both names have been associated with this movie since last year, so it's nice that we've finally gotten the confirmation some of us needed. Apparently though, the 'Natt Wolff is being approached to play Cannonball' part didn't pan out, as a surprising name has entered talks to portray the character instead. What a strange things indeed... ;D
Hold on, make that four actors, if we count Marvel TV's MVP Rosario Dawson. Yes, apparently Dawson has been approached to play Dr. Cecilia Reyes, a doctor that would serve as some sort of mentor figure for the younger cast. The character has the ability to generate force field, so she's definitely a mutant as well. Assuming Dawson agreed to take the role, this would be her second Marvel role, and also a step up from a rogue nurse Claire Temple into a full blown doctor. Someone just got medically promoted! LOL.
It's seriously unclear when or how the timeline of this movie will fit in the... ugh, already messy and confusing larger X-Men universe. What we can really be certain of however, is the genre the movie will dive into. And FOX isn't playing around, because based on Boone's statement to Entertainment Weekly, "We are making a full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe. There are no costumes. There are no supervillains. We’re trying to do something very, very different.". Okay, now this was both intriguing and concerning at the same time. The idea of having a younger cast, somehow meant that the movie will be a young adult version of the genre. And that's good. But no costume, and also horror bit? Even "Doctor Strange" didn't fully go that direction, because it might not score the PG-13 rating. Does this mean, "New Mutants" (yes, I'm still not used to adding the X-Men part in front of it) will also be R-rated, much like FOX recent movies? It COULD... be a good idea, but at the same time, it's a risky one that might not work either. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what Boone means when the first trailer hits. "New Mutants" is set to be released on April 13th, 2018. Production is expected to begin pretty soon in July... so I'm sure we'll hear more about it and more ethnically-appropriate casting through San Diego Comic Con.
Meanwhile, the tentatively titled "Deadpool 2" has welcomed a new cast member. Jack Kesy, who I just realized portrayed that rocker whose genital creepily fell off in "The Strain" (not kidding, it's a disturbing scene), has been cast to play a major villain in the movie. Deadline said, that their sources pinpointed the character as... Black Tom. Nope, I did NOT know that character, and the day I read the news, was even the first time I have even heard of it. After Ed Skrein's Ajax was universally acknowledged as one of the weakest element of the first movie, one would think that FOX would amp up the antagonist department, right? Looks like that's not the case. But let's give this sequel the benefit of doubt. Ryan Reynolds is returning as Wade Wilson, alongside Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapacic as Colossus, and Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead. And just like Dawson, Josh Brolin will be portraying his second Marvel role, this time as the time travelling Cable. Directed by David Leitch, "Deadpool 2" will hit the theatres on June 1st, 2018.
Let's move on to the TV side now! And let's start with the good news first. FXX, a younger-skewing part of FX Network with focus on animation, has ordered a 10-episode series of Marvel's "Deadpool" (tentative title, by the way)! And guess who will be working as showrunner for this show? "Atlanta" very own Donald Glover, and brother Stephen Glover. Well, color me intrigued! This Deadpool series will serve as Marvel TV's second collaboration with the network, after the critically acclaimed "Legion" that aired earlier this year and has received a renewal. ABC Signature Studios is producing the show. And yes, joining Dawson and Brolin's party, this would be Glover's second major Marvel involvement following his inclusion in "Homecoming" (noticed that he showed up in that latest trailer too?). Hmmm... is it just me or FOX continues snatching actors from Marvel? Anyways, would Glover be voicing the lead character too? That would be awesome.
Now, comes the bad... or politely speaking, not that-good of a news. And it's about that new X-Men TV show, "The Gifted". I know I haven't been talking about this for a while now, because frankly... I couldn't care less. But I'm going to report it anyway now, because it's happening. Well, mainly because an official teaser has been released to celebrate the full season order. So yeah, FOX wanted their Marvel properties to play in the TV poolside as well, so they called out Bryan Singer and writer Matt Nix to... ugh, create this show. And it's generally about, "a family who discovers their kid is a mutant and must go on the run, shacking up with a bunch of other mutants to survive.". What's the point? I guess it's not enough to have "Legion" that, despite being really good, feels weirdly out of place from the X-Men movie universe, now they just need to insert another one to make things more... confusing.
To be honest, what I saw in that trailer didn't inspire confidence. At all. Which was odd, because I thought the teaser was quite intriguing. There's this weird... 'been there done that' vibe running throughout the trailer, and it certainly didn't give me the urge to check it out once it was over. It played a bit like "Heroes" I guess, but not the early seasons when it was good. Nope, it's the latter ones which people couldn't care less. But of course, don't ever judge a book by its cover, because this COULD be good. It has Amy Acker, Stephen Moyer, Sean Teale, Jamie Chung, Coby, Blair Redford, Percy Hynes White, Emma Dumont, John Proudstar, and Natalie Alyn Lind as its cast. While I'm only familiar with THREE of them, the rest of these actors could end up becoming as huge as those.. ugh three. So yeah, if you're an X-Men fan, you might want to hang on to your seat until this show arrives on FOX Network. Sooner or later. Good... luck, then?
Marvel TV
Since we've talked about Marvel TV's affair with FOX, let's talk about their own shows now.
Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." has been officially renewed for Season 5. YAY for that! I personally thought the finale for Season 4 was rather... disappointing and underwhelming. Also, that post credit scene was confusing, and was revealed to NOT have anything to do with S.W.O.R.D. because turns out, Marvel doesn't own the copyright. Ain't that a deal-breaker! But obviously, a show renewal means a win for some of its fans, so... good for them. There's a catch though, because unlike previous season, the 5th season will NOT arrive in Fall 2017. Nope, NOT kidding, because apparently, AoS will not start until ABC has finished airing all 8 episodes of Marvel's "The Inhumans". This is a strange reveal, because I've always thought 2017 would be the year that ABC is having two running Marvel shows at the same time. Looks like I've expected too much.
But the report gets even... weirder. "The Inhumans" is officially set to air on... Friday 09:00 PM, following "Once Upon a Time". This news stirred up some concerns on its own, because according to many, Friday night is considered to be graveyard for TV shows. Heck, many people in the US aren't even home during that time! Most tend to go out, and have dates, parties, watch movies and whatevers. Is ABC trying to ruin the show before it even starts? Sure, ABC Chief Channing Dungey has told the press that the network is trying out a new strategy. But it also didn't stop folks on the internet to connect the show to a recent rumor that... didn't sound reassuring. With this odd airing schedule, the trepid response to the show's first look, as well as showrunner Scott Buck's bad track record thanks to "Iron Fist", I think it's not wrong for fans to start feeling... worried.
The good side that we can take from this, is that when the 5th Season of AoS begins airing on January 2018, the 22-episodes will likely run without any season breaks. There isn't any official statement about this, but VFX supervisor Mark Kolpak had hinted so in a social media response. Personally speaking, it's still uncertain if I'll be seeing this new season or not. Knowing my tendency to lose interest when a show starts to get overly long, highly likely I'm going to drop it, to then return sometime after it ends to bingewatch it. But it's not a fixed plan just yet. After all, I WAS planning to do that with Season 4, but then the Ghost Rider arc pulled me back in, and the rest was history. And of course, if the 5th Season is announced to be the FINAL season, that totally changes my plan. I would totally tune out in real time for one last ride, even if sometimes I have to *cough-Glee-cough* drag myself to do so. In the end, it all depends on what strategy the showrunners will apply to the show when it returns on January. It's still 7 months away, so plenty of time for me to have the AoS hiatus I badly needed. Assuming "The Inhumans" doesn't suck up all of my joy and leave me with pure disgust towards Marvel TV, of course... LOL *sigh*
Last but not least, the new season for "Avengers Assemble", officially subtitled as Marvel's Avengers: Secret Wars", is set to have a one hour premiere later on June 17th. This season will pick up directly after that bittersweet ending of Season 3, that left Tony Stark in a... digital state. To be honest, there's an annoying pattern to Marvel Animation's shows in the past few years, in that it started out strong and good... to then suffer a gradual decline in quality. That 3rd season, the one subtitled "Ultron Revolution", was just another good example of this. So while the prospect of having an entirely new roster led by Black Panther for "Secret Wars" sounds intriguing, I can't really say for sure if I'm going to stick around to the finale.
To help introduce these new roster, DisneyXD will be releasing a number of shorts via the digital platforms such as DisneyXD App. There will be six shorts released that feature Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Ms. Marvel, Ant-Man, Wasp, and Vision. Characters who have mostly (with the exception of Wasp) debuted on Season 3. These shorts will be available on a daily basis from June 2nd to June 7th. They will be essential to prepare audience for the 2-parters "Avengers No More", on June 17th as I've said before. I might be mistaken, but it seems the voice cast will have several updates as well, since I'm not seeing Adrian Pasdar's name on it. Nevertheless, fans of the animated series should definitely mark their dates to catch this new season. Who knows, perhaps the roster change will be effective to make it... better than the first three seasons.
Netflix
I didn't pay attention because I had to spend less time on Twitter now, but it seemed Marvel's "The Defenders" had a playful time with their social media marketing. Marvel officially released motion posters for the character, and apparently they were delightfully filled with easter eggs. There's Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock and Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones hanging out on Rand Tower, Mike Colter's Luke Cage in Fogwell's gym, and Finn Jones' Danny Rand meditating in front of Alias Investigations, and so on. Fun stuffs indeed, at least by the sound of it, because I haven't personally observed them in details. LOL.
Cox talked to Empire Online, and revealed that despite the tonal difference to all series, "The Defenders" will have a tone of its own. One that is kept "grounded, but at the same time it lives in a slightly mythical world". Colter added that the four lead characters will be reluctant to work with each other at first. He also accidentally revealed on a separate interview, that Wai Ching Ho's enigmatic character Madame Gao is set to appear on the mini series. This wasn't particularly shocking, I should say, because technically Gao IS a member of The Hand, so of course she'll be involved somehow. Perhaps, alongside Ramon Rodriguez' Bakuto, who disappeared after his fight with Jessica Henwick's Colleen Wing in Danny's series? Speaking of Danny, Jones said that his character will be maturing and be more responsible in the mini series. So perhaps, turning into someone more... likeable than the one we saw in his solo series. I sure hope that's the case. Marvel's "The Defenders" arrives on August 18th.
Netflix has debuted the first teaser for their animated "Castlevania" series as well. The series itself will premiere on July 7th, and this first season will consist of 4 episodes. Running time for each will be 30 minutes, so it's going to be a really short show. While this is a fantastic idea, considering the game franchise hasn't had any adaptation until now (as far as I know of), this teaser was... vague at best. It honestly didn't make me curious or intrigued to check it out, and I'm not sure that's the purpose. Of course, just like any other Netflix shows, we could expect a full length trailer in the coming weeks. Perhaps, by then it would look meaningful enough for me to judge.
DC Television
Likely inspired by the reception to Marvel's "Luke Cage", DC TV has followed suit by introducing their own black superhero in "Black Lightning". The series, which has been ordered as full season, is set to debut on the CW Network. But unlike the already running "Arrow", "The Flash", and "Super Girl", this one will not be set in the same universe. For now. You can check out the first look trailer on the network's official channel.
Much like the other CW shows, I can't really say if this trailer... appealed enough for my taste. I just... didn't dig it for some reason. The concept of a retired hero is nice, but the whole thing played out exactly like those other CW shows. So already a huge pass for me. But I can easily imagine how some folks, especially African-American audience would be ecstatic to see it. Heck, if Marvel fans could show so much love for a "Luke Cage" series that honestly got more and more draggy as it went by, I certainly hope the DC counterpart would at least do the same with this. There one for everyone, right?
Warner Bros Animation
"Heelloooo, Nurse!!!!". Not content on just delivering CW superhero shows, through their animation division, WB is planning to revive a loveable classic, which is "Animaniacs". Yes folks, the trio of Yakko, Wakko, and Dot will be returning to the small screen... and likely alongside other characters like Pinky and the Brain. According to IndieWire, Steven Spielberg is involved in it, so that's a reassuring fact. After all, it was the iconic director himself who managed to bring the series to its spectacular popularity back then. For the time being, the project is still in early stage of development, and it doesn't have a home yet. But the original series is having great viewership on Netflix, so the streaming media would easily become one of its possible home. Here's hoping we'll hear more about this in the near future!
LEGO Games
LEGO announced their latest action adventure video game title late last month. This time, it's another of their Marvel tie-in games, "LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2". Their previous collaboration, the MCU-inspired "LEGO Marvel's The Avengers" did not reach the same heights of the first "LEGO Marvel Super Heroes". So I hope this new one, that seems to focus on themes from recent and upcoming movies like "Doctor Strange", "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2", "Thor: Ragnarok", "Black Panther", and "Captain Marvel", will be able to make up for that strange nitpick-ish disappointment. You can check out the official full-length trailer on Marvel's official Youtube channel. Didn't show much of the plot though. Hmmm....
Street Fighter
Third character for "Street Fighter V" Season 2's DLC has been revealed early last month. CAPCOM promised a completely new character, but once again, similar to Helen/Kolin, this one's technically NOT really new. Ed, has been around since "Street Fighter IV", and before officially becoming a playable character in this game, he's been heavily involved in Season 1's DLCs' (Balrog and also Urien) story modes, as well as appearing in some others. Balrog has been serving as his caretaker, and that explains why his fighting skill leans towards boxing.
I'm never fond of boxing fighters, so Ed's already a huge NO for me. What was more disappointing about his reveal though, is the fact that he's being set up to be the new M. Bison. Complete with that ugly M. Bison-inspired costume! Turns out, ghost of the now-death Shadaloo's boss tried to possess his body, hinting that the evil organization is still lurking about, despite the conclusive ending to "A Shadow Falls". This is something along the line of how "Final Fantasy XIII-2" ruined the perfect ending of its first game! Anyway, some fans have been able to test him out during the game's beta test on May 11th. It's still unclear when he will be available for purchase, but it's safe to assume that will take place this month. You can check out his official reveal trailer on CAPCOM's official Youtube channel.
Dynasty Warriors
Early last month, Kadokawa's Weekly Famitsu magazine revealed that the 9th iteration of the franchise, "Shin Sangoku Musou 8" will be released on Playstation 4. This wasn't surprising, since KOEI Tecmo has been moving away and away from Microsoft and their Xbox family since the 8th game. Despite that, there are hints that the North American and European region will get additional release in other platforms as well. Switch, perhaps?
First announced back in December 2016, the new game will have an open-world environment, placing the continent of China into a single, vast map to explore. There will be key cities and also landmarks in the game. This change enables various mechanics that were unaccessible in previous titles, like real-time climate and its influence to battle, stealth infilitration, long distance attack, as well as variety of other methods like "State Combo", "Flow Attacks", "Trigger Attack", and "Interactive Actions". The story mode will be massively affected by them as well, as everything will take place according to its respective period, and more faithful to the actual history. According to producer Akihiro Suzuki and director Jun Miyauchi, development is currently at 40%, and that their team is currently adding more and more features to increase the game's playability value. With that said, the game still has no official release date at the time being.
Continuing the franchise's tradition, several new characters will be introduced to join the existing 83 officers from the latest title, "Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires". Zhou Cang, wielding the Daisatsutou, will be added to the Shu faction, while Cheng Pu, wielding a dual spear, will join the Wu faction. There might be more for other factions, but so far, these two are the only ones announced. Details for these characters as well as regarding the game in general, can be found on the official English and Japanese websites.
The King of Fighters
Fans who haven't been able to play the game on Playstation 4, will soon have a chance to play it on PC. "The King of Fighters XIV Steam Edition" of the game, has been announced to be released in the near future. SNK Corp has been accepting pre-order starting in May. Regular edition will come with a bonus of DLC costumes for Kyo Kusanagi, and Geese Howard. A Deluxe Pack, which is a MUCH better offer but with understandably higher price, will come equipped with Digital Art Book, Digital Soundtrack, 10 DLC costumes, and all 4 DLC characters announced so far. That's basically everything that SNK Corp has released in one pack! A 20% discount, which is an extra-generous bargain for both sets, is set to run until June 15th, 2017 10:AM PDT. So hurry up and pre-order your copy! I know I would if I had a compatible resource to play it, as well as reliable financial condition... *sigh*
Assassin's Creed
E3 is taking place this month, and Ubisoft has been rumored to be announcing the new title for their "Assassin's Creed" franchise. Nothing official has been revealed to far, but the company has indeed teased that this new entry will be released before the end of their current fiscal year. That means, we can expect it to arrive before March 31st, 2018. Will it be the Egyptian-themed "Assassin's Creed: Origins" as previously speculated? We'll have to wait and see...
Sonic the Hedgehog
When it was announced that there would be a 3rd character for "Sonic Forces", it made me quite... anxious. Remember how the teaser showed a cat-like character? Yep, I was genuinely worried that SEGA would be shoving, shoehorning a completely new character that might ruin the whole "Sonic Generations" combo of Classic and Modern Sonic. I mean, what's the purpose, right? Well, guess what? Turns out the third character is indeed a NEW character, but NOT exactly new. Huh? Because it's still Sonic. CUSTOM SONIC. LOL.
Seriously, this is NICE! And also somewhat brilliant too. I'm sure many Sonic fans have been itching to see how Sonic the Hedgehog would've looked if he's actually a wolf instead. Or if he's not Blue, but Red-colored... Okay, perhaps I'm the only one intrigued by those idea, but the point is, each fans can have their own version of Sonic through this game! This customizable Sonic or 'Hero Character' can be equipped with a variety of powerful unique gadgets called Wispons. The visual look can also be modified by choosing between 'hundreds' of options. So those who have been dreaming to have a nerdy Sonic as their playable character, well, this one's for you! Also, as I said before, players can choose a different base animal apart from Hedgehog, and all 7 types come with their own unique abilities. SEGA and the Sonic Team has provided a reveal trailer, and also quick gameplay trailer for this new Sonic. Looks like he'll be able to play through either Classic or Modern style stages too. Pretty cool, right?!
Meanwhile, "Sonic Mania" has officially received a release date. The 2D Classic Sonic game will be launched on August 15th, 2017, for Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. A special pre-order trailer has been released to deliver this announcement. Go ahead and check it out, because it looks... 2D-nostalgic fun! :D
Zero Escape
Just like "Sonic Mania", the PS4 port of "Zero Time Dilemma" will also be released in August. Namely, two days later on August 17th, 2017. That's only for the Japanese version though, and it will be available at the price of 3,800 yen. The English version has yet to receive official release date, but has been planned for a Fall release. This new PS4 version will have refined graphics, and Famitsu has published a comparison sample with the PC version.
Professor Layton
Early last month (yes, don't ask), details for the first arc of "Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy" has been revealed by LEVEL-5. Episode 01, entitled "Clockwork Sweets" will have Katrielle investigating the stolen hand of London's famous Big Ben's clock. The incident needs to be taken care of before the arrival of Ambassador Melarco the day after. So to fulfill the request of Scotland Yard's inspector Aspoiro, Katrielle and her assistant Haro needs to race through time to retrieve back the hand, before press conference with Melarco begins. Marc and Reggie Yanchatta, 27 years old twins will be involved in this case. Older brother Marc works as the mechanic on Big Ben, while Reggie is a confectioner.
Two of the "Seven Millionaires of London" from the title, have also been introduced. The first one is Ridley Fremens, who is the female mayor of London. And the second one is Clerk Gospec, a 65 years old multi-milionaire who has taken interest in Katrielle to investigate an incident in his theater. The report is currently unclear, but it seems Fremes will also be involved in the Big Ben case, while the Gospec's request will play out as one of Katrielle's next mission. To be honest, this feels more like a mystery visual novel than the previous "Professor Layton" titles. For some reason, I'm even reminded of that App Game "Layton Brothers", which I only managed to play up to the 3rd case (I need to purchase the next cases afterwards, and I had to pass on that LOL).
"Puzzles" are the signature of the franchise, so of course Katrielle will be dealing with them. The same goes for the other basic flow, like examining areas to discover "Insight Coins", and also tracking down "Collectibles". Another Layton standard feature, a mini game called "The Ideal Dinner" is also available. This time players need to provide clients with ideal dinner course of hors d’oeuvres, soup, a main course, and desserts. The game will be released worlwide on July 20th, 2017, for Nintendo 3DS (for Japan region, western version will come later in Fall), iOS and Android. That means, we might be getting additional information about other characters in the near future. Perhaps, during this month's E3?
Square Enix
The last category of this R-N-D, is a rundown of future plans by Square Enix. The company held a financial briefings for the fiscal year that ended in March 31st, 2017, and president and CEO Yousuke Matsuda revealed that some highly-anticipated title will be launched within the next three years. These projects include "Final Fantasy VII Remake", "Kingdom Hearts III", and also an unnamed Marvel IP License. This means that we can expect those to arrive starting next year. Will they be announcing more details for these projects during E3 though? We'll see...

Christopher Dorner shootings and manhunt  wiki
Dorner later stated that he was the only African-American student in his school from first grade to seventh grade, and that he had altercations due to racism.
During his time as a naval reservist, Dorner joined the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). He entered the police academy in 2005, graduating in 2006.[14] Shortly afterwards, his duties as a probationary officer were interrupted when he was deployed by the Navy Reserve to Bahrain. On his return from duty in July 2007, Dorner was paired with training officer Teresa Evans to complete his probationary training. According to the Los Angeles Times, Evans said that on Dorner's first day working with her, he told her that he planned to sue the LAPD after he completed his probationary period, in response to how the LAPD had responded to complaints he had previously made against his classmates.

New top story from Time: We Watched Every New Show on Quibi. Here’s What to Watch—and What to Skip
Like it or not, Quibi is here. The new streaming platform, launching April 6, offers short-form content—”quick bites,” hence the portmanteau, that run 10 minutes or less. These shows are designed to be watched exclusively on your phone, whether you’re on the subway heading to work or sitting in the waiting room at the dentist’s office—places, in other words, that most people won’t be able to go for some time yet in the era of social distancing. But despite the fact that very few people are, for the moment, on the go, Quibi has held fast to its planned debut, launching, by our count, 50 scripted series, documentaries, reality shows and news programs on April 6 with plans to roll out 175 shows over the course of the year.
Quibi is casting a wide net to court various types of viewers: there are soothing cooking shows designed for the boomer crowd, while celebrity-studded reality series aim to lure Gen Z off of TikTok. Television critics have been busy debating whether the Quibi model signals the end of quality television or the wave of the future. But it’s clear the platform is hoping sheer star power alone will entice some quarantined television lovers to download the app. Jennifer Lopez, Idris Elba, Lebron James, Chance the Rapper and Chrissy Teigen are among the celebrities set to star in Quibi content, and filmmakers like Steven Spielberg, Catherine Hardwicke, Paul Feig, and Guillermo del Toro have content on the upcoming slate.
The streaming service, which also features proprietary new technology that allows viewers to switch seamlessly from landscape to portrait viewing, will cost $4.99 per month with ads and $7.99 without ads, though a 90-day free trial is available if you sign up in April.
Quibi gave journalists a glimpse at some of their content launching on April 6. We watched everything available to screen in advance (in most cases, around three chapters; “Daily Essentials” like news shows were not available in advance as they will cover news as it breaks). If you’re thinking of subscribing, here’s what you should watch and what you should skip.
What to Watch
Gayme Show! (unscripted)
youtube
Gayme Show! has a deceptively simple premise: it’s a gay game show. That’s it! Hosted with with aplomb by comedians Matt Rogers and Dave Mizzoni, each episode features two straight contestants competing in gay-themed challenges in an effort to be crowned “Queen of the Straights.” The jokes are plentiful, and if you’re not well-versed in gay Twitter—references to Dua Lipa, Laura Dern’s salmon button-down from Jurassic Park and Cynthia Nixon’s wife whiz by—you might have to Google to catch up. But even if you don’t get every joke, it’s hard not to let out a guffaw watching contestants like Demi Adejuyigbe prance around the stage in a unitard during a game called “notice me father”—actually a bespectacled Rogers softly weeping. The conceit is goofy, silly and exactly what you want it to be—and that’s a great thing. —Kelly Conniff
Nightgowns (documentary)
youtube
Lately it seems like everyone who’s ever come within 10 feet of RuPaul’s stage is getting their own show, but don’t hold the deluge of drag content against Sasha Velour, a Drag Race winner who stands out even from that talented pack. While her gender-fluid performances can be transgressive, Velour, who takes a big-tent approach to drag, has a heart of gold. As she adapts her Brooklyn-born revue NightGowns for a bigger stage, this docuseries profiles the queen and an inclusive troupe that features performers with a wide range of identities and styles. Each episode of the show—the only Quibi title I screened that feels particularly suited to the medium—ends with a beautifully shot production number that does Velour proud. —Judy Berman
Prodigy (documentary)
youtube
You don’t have to be a sports fan to appreciate this docuseries, which covers a different young elite athlete in each episode. With artful cinematography and well-paced storytelling—especially compared to the frenetic quality of many of the platform’s other shows—Prodigy is less concerned with the specific athletic achievements of its subjects (no. 1 ranked high school basketball player in the U.S., five-time national junior boxing champion) and more focused on the sacrifice and singular dedication of these athletes’ family members. If you cried during that Procter & Gamble Olympics commercial thanking the moms who drove carpools and gave pep talks so that their children could get a shot at the podium, this one is probably for you. —Eliza Berman
Punk’d (unscripted)
youtube
This third revival of MTV’s prank show has been winningly updated for millennial and Gen Z sensibilities: it’s slightly more absurdist, slightly less cruel and involves way more animals. YouTuber Liza Koshy ruins a bat mitzvah; rapper Megan Thee Stallion gets attacked by a gorilla. Chance the Rapper—who in the wake of Netflix’s Rhythm & Flow, has rebranded his once-innocent persona to include a mean streak—brings a mischievous energy to hosting duties, and his laugh is infectious. —Andrew R. Chow
The Sauce (unscripted)
youtube
Dance—particularly street dance—doesn’t get enough mainstream respect. The Sauce has something to say about that. Each episode pits two dance groups against each other, judged by talented dance duo Ayo and Teo, with the lure of a $25,000 cash prize. The lack of polish is endearing, as is the raw skill on display; you’ll wish you could spend more time just watching these young athletes move their bodies in ways that have no respect for the laws of physics. Kudos to executive producer Usher and the hosts for making sure to explain regional dance styles, as it’s high time these art forms got their due. Constant camera cuts and stylized editing seem best suited for the TikTok generation, but it’s a joy to watch these dancers in motion in any format. —Raisa Bruner
Shape of Pasta (documentary)
youtube
Now this is my sort of short content. I’m a devoted Bon Appetit Test Kitchen subscriber, Alison Roman Instagram story watcher and Anthony Bourdain worshipper. So, yes, a show about a chef traveling across tiny towns in Italy to discover forgotten pasta shapes is my jam. I can’t get my head around the tone of this show—it’s extremely self-serious, so much so that it’s maybe supposed to be making fun of other food shows? Or perhaps it’s just one of them. No matter. The show has many nonnas teaching Felix Trattoria chef Even Funke how to make pasta in shapes you’ve never thought of but are centuries-old traditions in picturesque Italian towns. It’s delightful! —Eliana Dockterman
You Ain’t Got These (documentary)
youtube
Lena Waithe takes viewers on a thoughtful, well-researched and star-studded tour of the world of sneakers. As the show conveys, sneaker culture is about much more than style. “Your footwear is your ID now in the black community,” Carmelo Anthony tells her; Nas, Run DMC, Hasan Minhaj and a cultural historian reflect on the legacy of icons like Michael Jordan and the relationship between hip-hop and commerce. Questions about branding, exploitation and value are tackled head-on. For sneakerheads it might be mostly recap, but it’s still fun to hear Rev Run reminisce about securing his Adidas deal—and for everyone else, it works as a solid introduction to a foundational part of contemporary American culture. —Raisa Bruner
What to Try
Chrissy’s Court (unscripted)
youtube
In this ode to Judge Judy, Chrissy Teigen rules over petty cases brought by local randos. Each episode is extremely dependent on the personalities of the plaintiff and defendant. Most of the “contestants” are actively awkward (or actually mad, which is bizarre given the TV show’s unserious premise), and Chrissy and her mother Vilailuck Teigen (as bailiff) have to work double-time to counteract their discomfort. The humor often feels forced. Chrissy’s Instagram is more entertaining—at least there, she has total control over the cast of characters, namely her husband John Legend and their two kids, all of whom are way more natural in front of the camera. That said, if you like Teigen and are already churning through her Instagram stories every day, this is a fine way to get some more. —Eliana Dockterman
Fierce Queens (documentary)
youtube
Reese Witherspoon narrates mini wildlife documentaries made with BBC Studios Natural History Unit, each focused on the female members of a species. Some of the lines veer into cheesy girl-power territory: “Getting that belief in yourself and gaining confidence: that’s what growing up is all about. These big cats totally nailed it. Walk tall, fierce queens!” she sings out after a surface-level episode about adolescent cheetah sisters. But thanks to truly beautiful footage and surprising subject choices—unless you already know all about the life cycle of the ruthless, cannibalistic queen honeypot ant?—viewers who want a quick hit of nature and some new fun facts about animals will be satisfied. —Raisa Bruner
Flipped (scripted)
youtube
After one episode, this one looked like it would fall squarely in the “skip” bucket: two incredibly annoying self-anointed visionaries, a married theater director (Will Forte) and Home Depot-esque associate (Kaitlin Olson), are both deservedly fired from their jobs for asserting their own artistic purity over things like appropriate subject matter for tween thespians (in his case) and customer service (in hers). (Think the kind of kooky, self-serious characters you’d find in a Christopher Guest movie, minus the great ensemble to balance them out.) But a hastily paced sequence of events—they decide to try to be house flippers, buy a foreclosed-upon property and find stacks of cash in its walls, which turn out to belong to a drug cartel—leads to the introduction of Broad City‘s Arturo Castro as an organic-apple-eating overlord, which might just elevate this bonkers ordeal from grating to promising. —Eliza Berman
Gone Mental with Lior (unscripted)
The mentalist Lior Suchard lacks the theatricality or scale of other famous magicians like David Blaine or Criss Angel, making him perhaps the perfect match for a low-stakes platform like Quibi. It’s agreeable enough to watch him catch basketballs while blindfolded or exactly guess the number of coins in Ludacris’ hands, but his tricks won’t haunt your dreams, either. —Andrew R. Chow
I Promise (documentary)
youtube
By all accounts, LeBron James’ I Promise School in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, has been a resounding success: Its students, who were picked to attend after underachieving in the city’s public school system, are testing better and seem to be thriving in their new environment. This show, however, comes off as a surface-level feel-good advertisement for the school. —Andrew R. Chow
Run This City (documentary)
youtube
Jaseil Correia grew up with the dream of becoming the mayor of his hometown, Fall River, Mass.—a city of around 90,000 most famous as the home of Lizzie Borden. At the remarkably young age of 23, he achieved it. But what sounds at first like an uplifting story of millennial striving turns dissonant when Correia is indicted on fraud and extortion charges. It’s an intriguing story that could have made for a fascinating hourlong documentary. Unfortunately, the Quibi format requires director Brent Hodge (I Am Chris Farley) to chop the saga into equal-sized, eight-minute “bites” that drag in the middle before ramping up to exaggerated cliffhangers. The result is a micro-docuseries whose rhythm always feels a bit off. —Judy Berman
Singled Out (unscripted)
youtube
I like host Keke Palmer. I like Joel Kim Booster, who serves as the Jenny McCarthy to her Chris Hardwick. I like that all three episodes I watched had queer contestants but didn’t feel as though they were pandering to an LGBTQ audience. The best one featured a fully decked-out, super-charismatic drag queen looking for a man who could handle her at her most femme. But the best thing about the original MTV show was the unscripted banter, both between the hosts and among the competitors. And there just isn’t room for that in an already-rushed seven-minute show. —Judy Berman
Thanks A Million (unscripted)
youtube
There’s not much here that you can’t already get from watching YouTube clips of Ellen DeGeneres giving out life-sized checks on behalf of name-that-corporation, or soldiers coming home to reunite with their spouses/children/dogs. But if you’re going to subscribe anyway and want a cathartic cry in two-minutes flat, watching celebs like Jennifer Lopez, Kevin Hart and Nick Jonas give deserving people $100,000, then watching the recipient give half of it to another deserving person, and so on, should do the trick. If you think too hard about it, the magic starts to fade—how much of this will get eaten up in gift taxes, and how many phone calls is this person going to get asking for a loan after receiving such a large sum on, well, if not national TV, whatever Quibi is? Yet seeing an apparently kind, hard-working person get the chance to pay for infertility treatments, or a house, or more resources for their therapy dog program, is far from the worst way to spend six minutes. —Eliza Berman
What to Skip
&Music (documentary)
youtube
With its sweeping landscape shots, ambient background score and pseudo-philosophical ramblings, &Music seems to want to be the Chef’s Table for the random-dudes-connected-to-the-music-industry set. The show spends each episode with a behind-the-scenes collaborator of a star: there’s Ariana Grande’s choreographers and Martin Garrix’s light guy. But while there are one or two poignant and revealing moments, the show is mostly slick, overproduced and vacuous. There are plenty of music documentaries that are far more worth your time—and that you can watch on a big screen with proper speakers. —Andrew R. Chow
Dishmantled (unscripted)
youtube
Dishmantled is a cooking show, minus the main ingredients that make cooking shows so satisfying: interesting and empathetic contestants to root for and, much more fatal to the whole endeavor, the cooking itself. Hosted by Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt‘s Tituss Burgess, the show invites two blindfolded chefs into a small chamber where a mystery dish is blasted into their faces; they have to taste the exploded shrapnel, figure out what it might be, and make a dish replicating what they think they’ve eaten, to be judged on both taste and accuracy by celebrity judges like Dan Levy, Antoni Porowski and Jane Krakowski. But the quick format makes this far from a nutritious meal; viewers don’t have time to get to know or get invested in the contestants, and the cooking itself sails by without any attention to technique or ingredients. The most drama you’ll get here are lines like: “This all comes down to…is this a zoodle or is this a noodle?” —Eliza Berman
Memory Hole (unscripted)
Will Arnett makes fun of terrible pop culture moments from history that nobody remembers for a reason (like that time Alan Thicke appeared in a corny tribute at the opening of a Canadian superdome). It’s unclear who this show is for or why it exists. The references are so obscure that even people who lived through them will have forgotten and the quips feel like something you’d hear at a high school open mic. I spent the entire time watching this show thinking about another, much better show, BoJack Horseman. In that Netflix animated series, Arnett voiced a washed-up ’90s sitcom star struggling to stay relevant in Hollywood. Memory Hole feels like a project that an investor in Quibi would have blackmailed BoJack into doing after BoJack accidentally threw up on him during a bender at a wedding. —Eliana Dockterman
Most Dangerous Game (scripted)
youtube
This show is so obvious, it’s almost funny. These are the exact roles SNL would cast Liam Hemsworth and Christoph Waltz in for a skit—cancer-ridden former athlete with a pregnant wife and an evil billionaire who wants to pay said former athlete to be hunted by rich people. Since each episode is seven minutes, these are not character revelations that slowly come out over time. They are blatantly spoken by the actors to one another in every scene. Don’t come to Most Dangerous Game expecting The Game-esque twists or any subtle dialogue. What you expect is exactly what you will get. Unless you expect fun. You won’t get that. —Eliana Dockterman
Murder House Flip (unscripted)
youtube
Despite the name, there’s nothing original about Murder House Flip. The series is essentially two types of reality shows unceremoniously jammed together: one part home redesign show hosted by two perky designers with a surfeit of canned jokes; one part true crime docuseries filled with the requisite pan and scan over vintage photos and newspaper clippings. This uneasy juxtaposition results in awkward episodes that often feel like a Saturday Night Live parody, especially when one of the hosts brightly announces: “Our goal was to take this murder house and turn it into a happy home.” And a focus on the grisly nature of the crimes reflects the worst parts of a genre that too often obscures victims. Is there a world in which this show could have managed to strike the right tone? Possibly. But as it stands, Murder House Flip is too flip. —Kelly Conniff
Nikki Fre$h (unscripted)
youtube
“Wellness has a new voice. A black voice,” Nicole Richie’s rapper alter ego says in the first episode of Nikki Fre$h (and then immediately clarifies that she’s referring to herself). The resulting show is part poker-faced satire of the goop lifestyle and part honest assessment of organic produce and artisanal honey. Her attempts to draw attention to food waste and the plight of bees are well-intentioned, but cameos from the likes of Bill Nye can’t save the show from falling flat; Richie helped pioneer awkward reality TV on The Simple Life with Paris Hilton, but Nikki Fre$h lacks that show’s schadenfreude appeal. —Raisa Bruner
Skrrt with Offset (unscripted)
youtube
If you like looking at nice cars, you might get a kick out of Skrrt with Offset. Otherwise, there’s not much point. The show has a thin premise (the Migos rapper Offset does stuff with cars) and is executed with even less imagination. When his wife Cardi B shows up for an episode, overflowing with sass and charisma, you wonder why they didn’t just give the whole show to her. —Andrew R. Chow
Survive (scripted)
youtube
Before watching the first five episodes of this thriller about a disturbed young woman preparing to kill herself on the flight home from a mental institution, I might have said something like, “I’d watch Sophie Turner do anything.” Well, Turner is great in Survive—but neither her performance nor the impressive production values manage to redeem a story that, whether intentionally or not, revels in the bloody, nihilistic aesthetics of suicide. A twist (one that’s “spoiled” in the trailer) that has the plane crashing and Turner’s character teaming up with an obvious love interest (Corey Hawkins) to, yes, survive only heightens the absurdity and introduces plot holes. —Judy Berman
When the Streetlights Go On (scripted)
youtube
It’s the summer of 1995—a stiflingly hot one—when things start going wrong in sleepy Colfax, Ill. That fall, a beautiful high-school mean girl (Kristine Froseth) and the teacher she’s been sleeping with (Mark Duplass) get carjacked, forced to strip and gunned down by their masked assailant. The weirdo sister (Sophie Thatcher) she used to bully wanders around unmoored. A jock sometimes-boyfriend (Sam Strike) is brought in for questioning. Narrating this murder mystery is the student journalist (Chosen Jacobs) who found the bodies. Period signifiers like Nirvana and ck one abound. Every once in a while a show formed entirely out of genre tropes and nostalgia for the recent past is executed well enough to exceed the sum of its parts (see: the first season of Stranger Things). But after three trite, predictable episodes, I’m not holding out much hope for this one. —Judy Berman

Lee Daniels spends millions on a modern box in Beverly Hills (Post Office)
It’s no secret that the mountains above Beverly Hills are chock-full of Hollywood veterans. And there’s hardly a more ideal illustration of that fact than the cul-de-sac we shall discuss today. Located in the Coldwater Canyon area of Beverly Hills Hills Post Office (BHPO), the barely-there street contains just six homes. According to Yolanda’s research, all six of them are owned by people who make their living in the entertainment industry — one way or another.
Current residents on the cul-de-sac in question include celebrity stylist Petra Flannery, cinematographer Peter Deming, actress Ashley Greene, and prolific writer/producer Jeph Loeb.
Anyway, the largest and most expensive house on the wee street recently sold for $4,900,000 to a blind trust. So Yolanda did some sniffin’ around and discovered that the folks listed above have a very famous new neighbor. His name is Lee Daniels.
Lee Daniels
Born and bred in Philadelphia, our Mr. Daniels grew up being physically abused by his police officer father. But after his dad was killed in the line of duty, Mr. Daniels experienced freedom to put his vivid imagination to profitable use. He matriculated to Lindenwood University in Missouri, of all places, where he continued to seek an outlet for his creativity.
Mr. Daniels began his career as a nursing agent — like a talent agent but dedicated to “casting” nurses in hospitals and such — before becoming a casting director after a chance meeting with a Hollywood producer. Eventually, after he had amassed sufficient capital, he founded Lee Daniels Entertainment, his own production outfit. Monster’s Ball, his first film production, proved critically successful, and through it Halle Berry became the first black woman to ever win a Best Actress Oscar. He also produced and directed Precious, for which he received a Best Director nomination at the 2009 Academy Awards.
But Mr. Daniels’ most profitable work has almost certainly been on the small screen. He is the co-creator and producer of both the Fox shows Empire and Star, both of which have become commercially successful and spawned multiple seasons.
Now in his late 50s, Mr. Daniels is openly gay and in a longterm relationship with a much younger man named Jahil Fisher. And though he has no biological children, he did adopt his niece and nephew many years ago (the kids are now in their 20s).
While he has spent most of his adult life living in New York City, it appears Mr. Daniels has finally dove headfirst into Lalaland with his impressive new BHPO home. Or maybe this is just a part-time residence and he’ll remain bicoastal. Who knows? Not Yolanda, that’s who.
The unique structure is ideal for a celebrity like Mr. Daniels: set way down a long driveway and behind a hulking gate and a dense tree canopy, the entire house is invisible from the cul-de-sac out front. As y’all might expect, the nearly $5 million property is equipped with a sophisticated security system.
According to records, the house was originally built in 1952, but it’s obviously been redone multiple times in the 65+ years since. The .82-acre mini-estate was last sold back in 2015 for $1,750,000 to a non-famous gentleman who gave the ol’ gurl a radical makeover. Check out the nipped-and-tucked result above.
A large motorcourt rests outside the two-car garage. The charcoal-colored house (ooh, sultry!) features loft-like living spaces spread over multiple levels. Per the listing, there is a generous 5,245-square-feet of living space with 4 beds and 4.5 baths.
Inside, the home aims to impress with huge amounts of slate, granite, marble and exotic-lookin’ hardwoods throughout. Large bay windows flood the property with light, and open-concept living makes the property appear even larger than it actually is. The massive kitchen directly overlooks lush Coldwater Canyon and features a vaulted ceiling and one of those ultra-chic La Cornue ranges that probably cost more than a new Camry.
We really like the hardwood choice for the kitchen cabinets. Yolanda never would’ve thought that particular wood would look good in a kitchen, but somehow it works. (Or maybe that’s just the alcohol talking.) Oh, somewhere by the steel-and-wood stairwell is an indoor fountain stocked with koi fish.
The lavish upstairs master suite is all-new and spans 1,000-square-feet — or about one-fifth of the entire home. Prairie-like areas within include a bedroom with direct access to a private balcony, a double-sided fireplace, and a massive closet/dressing room area equipped with a skylight. The master bath includes a soaking tub, walls of glass, and a novel shower “cube” smack-dab in the middle of the room.
Personally we prefer a little more privacy with our shower situation, but that’s just Yolanda. Take no heed of our prudish self, Mr. Daniels.
The other three bedroom suites are much smaller but outfitted in a very similar luxe manner: glassy showers, Toto toilets, walls of glass and the like.
In addition to the upstairs deck (equipped with yoga mats), there’s also a huge 2,500-square-foot deck off the lower level that includes a classy rectangular swimming pool and tons of space for outdoor furniture and entertaining.
Also in the backyard is an adorable wee box that functions as a standalone library, per the listing. We must admit that Yolanda would love to curl up in here on a rainy day (like today) with a good Agatha Christie mystery and a bottle of perfectly aged port. Mmmm.
It’s widely known that Mr. Daniels also keeps a home in New York City, but if your gurl is being completely honest — and we always are — we confess that we don’t know a damn thing about that place.
Listing agent: Christophe Collet, Coldwell Banker Lee Daniels’ agent: Steven Dubin, Douglas Elliman

That is what happened now…we ordered fridge and washing machine…my son ordered them on line from Harvey Norman …I got the fridge on Saturday morning …told me the washing machine will be delivered on Monday…and I got it on Monday 10/9/18 …of course what I expected happened… Nick Kaldas swapped both of them by something different, and Harvey Norman delivered the others to another lady, after they phoned me many times and left many messages on my home phone to confirm my address…because there is another lady using my name and taking money from the centerlink and opened bank accountsby my name… etc, using my name…unit 19 police with Nick Kaldas using her as she was me, as I heard Harvey Norman delivered everything to her, I need full investigation and solution to end this hell, unit 19 police using me to relax everyone here to keep going in their unlimited and unrelated investigation , I am in hell here save my life from unit 19 and from those people they using my name everywhere all under unit 19 police and police commissioners supervision, also working with someone his name is James pretend he is from Canberra intelligence he is about seventy years old, making unit 19 entertainment unit …
Now Harvey Norman has to investigate this matter with his staff and fix this problem as soon as possible …
This one pretend he is Nick buys something very cheap to swap it, many from our local doctors and pharmacists and lawyers etc, bribing Nick Kaldas to keep doing what he is doing with me…there is secret behind everyone bribing him, huge corruption here… where are you as police and government to take off and remove this man from here and do justice for me, there is no end to what they are doing …
***There is more people from the top in unit 19 as usual here to complicate everything, suggesting to take more and more time from my life, it’s not enough to suffer and struggle in front of them for more than twenty years now…if you all cant do what unit 19 police investigating since 2003 until now never and will never arrest anyone …why you don’t like to remove the Gas tubes from my home ceiling and arresting the criminal Steven Maxwell now…unit 19 always full by people from the top and the criminal Steven with the one pretend he is Nick Kaldas with unit 22 using Gas to kill me… why you don’t like to arrest them all now to end this hell…and take your time to finish the rest…or hide it …
Please save my life from someone pretend he is formal police deputy working with someone his name is James pretend he is from Canberra intelligence…they both working with unit 22 tenant using Gas to kill me come to arrest them all please now…I am about to die from the Gas smell now and all the time please…investigate why James wants to kill me by Gas saying he wants to keep going in this unrelated and unlimited investigation about corruption…there is huge secret behind Nick and James ask unit 19 police to know more about James corruption… send federal police to investigate James and Nick now, he and his family here in unit 19 days and nights…James retired last year what hell he is doing in unit 19 after he retired it’s like a nursery home here…for retired people to keep going unit they day…
Unit 19 police in Liverpool will never stop excuses, there is four or five people pretend they are from UK police with one pretend she is from US police here for years and years doing nothing more than spying Australia taking huge wages some of them like Rob and Andrew very aggressive, refusing to cooperate with Australia police or to leave Australia…the main point here…police unit 19 using them as excuses…also police unit 19 using the one pretend he is formal deputy Nick Kaldas as excuses, he is here to deal with this matter as he was from the top…he is full disable on wheel chair, working with someone his name is James pretend he is from Canberra intelligence…I am in hell here they all refusing to remove the Gas tubes from my home and arrest the criminal Steven…where is our federal with the army where is the government and police,
who will protect us and protect Australia from unit 19 police in Liverpool investigation about unrelated and unlimited investigation about corruption, and from this criminal  which he pretend he is formal police deputy Nick Kaldas living in next door block, and why unit 19 police refusing to arrest anyone …please if anyone can save my life from Australia or around the world save me now, I cant stay or even sleep in my room from the Gas smell now and all the time,I have no idea who is the criminal Steven Maxwell to be protected by unit 19 police and by the top names in NSW and Canberra…where all of you as police and government to arrest Steve now to end this hell now…the police minister with NSW police  commissioner and James from Canberra intelligence  come to unit 19 in Liverpool with many from UK and US police or pretend they are police almost every day, left the criminal Steven with someone pretend he is formal deputy Nick Kaldas to use Gas to kill me since I wake up in the morning until I go to bed at night, told them tens to remove the Gas tubes from my home ceiling and arrest them or even to turn it off for now, but no one cares about me or about Australia at all, its like everyone create perfect position taking huge wages for doing nothing more than torturing me…no one wants to investigate what secret behind unit 19 police and intelligence or even who they are !!! or who exactly behind them !!!…why they don’t like to arrest the criminal Steven since he did his crimes with me in year 1998, Steven was arrested in year 2005 but didn’t jail him…who exactly protecting the criminal Steven…
I have no idea where is the federal police with NSW police far from Liverpool police with the army to end what they are doing by arresting them all…until now no one wants to investigate why these big names like to kill me by Gas…
They refused to handle this matter to the army and refusing to solve this matter, where is the federal police to work with the army to end this hell or even to arrest Steven that is all what I want …please save my life…please send police by uniform to arrest the criminal Steven from unit 21 with 22 also this man which he pretend he is formal duty Nick Kaldas from next door block they killing me by Gas in front of everyone, they isolated me dealing with me as hostage in my home torturing and humiliating me since 2003 in unit 19 never and will never arrest anyone doing nothing more than creating excuses to mislead all Australia…even disconnected my TV antenna…with any other foreign channels from different devices…do something as federal and NSW police with the government and army…send team from the fire & rescue to remove the Gas tubes and arrest them all now.
*******To everyone in Canberra and NSW police and government to any responsible from the Australian Government Department of Human Services…please investigate why Liverpool Centerlink office with Canberra paying many other ladies or families money under my name and my children names, investigate now and suspend them now…a few months ago they suspended my payment…I went to Liverpool office many times I discovered there is another lady taking money under my name, many from Liverpool staff helped her to use my name, they returned my payment but in different day because the other lady was taking money for long time using my name at this different day that is why they suspended my payment and returned it in different time, some from Liverpool office staff helped her working with someone pretend he is the formal police deputy Nick Kaldas, please investigate and sack all of them, recently I knew there is more using my name, it looks any new arrival to Australia…this man which he pretend he is Nick Kaldas will give them money under my name…some from Liverpool office helping and working with this man… their names are …Diana, Jessica, Bucket, Sandra, and Debbie…also I received many letters from Canberra…the last one was with different and new payment time, they took the whole information about me from my file and give it to the other lady, they were paying me the minimum payment for long time,
That is why every time I ask Liverpool staff to review my payment rate they refuse…
I went many times to Liverpool office in the last a few months I met those disgusting five ladies behind this conspiracy, when I met Jessica and Buket on 19/3/2018, I was very angry from what they are doing and saying …the police commissioner was in unit 19, he went with some other police to see them in the same day to fix my payment because they paying me the minimum, nut agreed to leave the other lady using my name,
I am very known person in Liverpool , read my message to the end to know why…tell me who exactly responsible about this cheat and fraud, also as I heard they taking money under my children names while my children never took money from the centrelink…please investigate all Liverpool staff…its like mafia there…if you need any more information just contact me, if you like to face me with this lady or anything else please don’t hastate, also police unit 19 aware and know everything… also investigate from the head office in Canberra why they allowed another family to take money under my name and my children names and stop this disaster now…
****There is someone his name is James pretend he is from Canberra intelligence but he is not, came to unit 19 last year after he was retired from very low position, recently he started to invite some other people from his family to pretend they come with messages from the prime minister office to close unit 19 without any justice, …he has huge family here but very clear they working together like mafia here…unit 19 police knew some dirty history about them…you can ask unit 19 police to know more…but the authority has to stop them from taking anyone else like the prime minister or premier’s characters or to pretend they coming from any high authority in Australia to act in unit 19, James very funny man came to unit 19 only to have fun…laughs a lot has no idea about the law…stop this man with his family from coming to unit 19
Please investigate why they pretend they are from Canberra intelligence …they torture and humiliate me and using Gas to kill me…help and save my life and all Australia from them …they pretend they are here to protect criminals some of them from James’s family and hiding corruption that is why they like to fabricate everything …isolate this family from any positions like this…it looks like everyone has criminal record or worried from any corruption they have done in their lives come to stay in unit 19…
Please send team not one or two… team consist from more than thirty or forty from the federal with army to end their investigation to let me out of this hell now…investigate who sent James and his family to pretend they are from Canberra intelligence…there is huge matters behind them…ask unit 19 police about them to know more please .
My message to all Australia to protect us, NSW premier has to work with Australia prime minister direct to solve this matter…you have to work together to find solution to arrest anyone corrupting in Australia or to find solution for me and my children…, they came to unit 19 in year 2003 only to arrest formal Liverpool court registrar the criminal Steven Maxwell  not to investigate corruption about all Australia from unit 19 or to install spy cameras in my home watching me 24 hours a day turned my life to hell or to use Gas to kill me to protect criminals or to hide corruption ….order unit 19 police to arrest the criminal Steven with everyone else involved with him to end this hell now…never to connect the criminal Steven’s crimes with any corruption any more, or to accept any more excuses from unit 19 police in Liverpool…there is no end to unit 19 police excuses,
please send experts from police and army with fire and rescue to remove the Gas tubes from my home ceiling now and arrest the criminal Steven with someone pretend he is Nick Kaldas want to kill me by Gas, I have no idea why police unit 19 refusing to remove the Gas tubes from my home and why they don’t like to arrest anyone since 2003 until now, they torture and humiliate me dealing with me as hostage in my home, I have no idea who exactly responsible about unit 19, if anyone knows ask them to do something to end this hell now …. Some of them have criminal’s records pretend they are here to investigate corruption…working hard to close unit 19 without any justice to be done…never to accept any more excuses from them, the real federal police with real police from NSW with army have to be involved to end what they are doing…not anyone nocking unit 19 door telling them they are here to assist them in their investigation and discover after years they are not police… all media have to write about unit 19 and what they are doing with us.
I am about to die from the Gas smell in my home now and all the time, unit 19 full by police from top names from everywhere now and all the time, they enjoying hosting big names in unit 19, spending millions and millions of dollars to keep unit 19 open to protect some criminals…refusing to take any legal action to save my life or to save Australia from any corruption they talking about it since 2003, its mirage and illusion nothing else, the police commissioner here almost every night…save my life…do something to remove the Gas tubes from my home ceiling now please…
please save me help me from NSW and all around Australia, send police by uniform to unit 21 and 22, also to this one pretending he is Nick Kaldas living in next door building, he is full disable on a while chair…the main one from Canberra intelligence his name is (Anthony)  working with many others from Canberra … one of them his name is James came to unit 19 after he retired, he is from my family…as you know by the law he doesn’t have to be involved in this investigation because he is related to me in the same time he works hard to fabricate everything to close unit 19 or to stay here until he die, there is huge secret behind them all, they all refusing any justice or any suggest from any other police or army to arrest anyone, killing me by Gas, saying (Nick Kaldas) preventing them using him as excuses, investigate why they like to kill me by Gas…why they don’t like to remove the Gas tubes from my home ceiling, why they don’t like to arrest this man or anyone else they all here to stay forever protecting any criminals and preventing any justice to be done who will investigate why they doing all this and arrest all of them …
working with Liverpool police, they will never arrest or end their investigation about corruption, find solution for me as police and government please we are in hell here, there is many from Canberra intelligence in unit 19 for years…saying they are most powerful,
as I see they are most powerful only to prevent any justice to be done but very weak to arrest anyone, they always scared and hesitated…my messages bring to them huge number from all Australia from police, with army and government trying with them to arrest the criminal Steve or anyone corrupting in Australia, but they refusing and scarred from taking any further step, creating unlimited and unrelated excuses.
Please, read my message to the end…save my life, if there is any people to protest with me or for me to end unit 19 abuse and discrimination and races since year 1998…please help now, investigate who is this mane which he pretend he is formal police deputy Nick Kaldas spread barbarism in Liverpool using and abusing Nick formal job title to scare people, he is doing everything illegal, cheating and fraud…this man disconnecting my TV antenna most of time to be isolated, sometimes preventing my children to come to visit me, he asking unit 22 to use Gas to kill me in front of Canberra police, they doing nothing…there is some bribed people from doctors and pharmacists with lawyers …etc. scaring from unit 19 police investigation., bribing him to keep doing what he is doing with us, arrest this man now or ask him to leave our area, no idea why police unit 19 refusing to do anything to save our lives from all of them, and where all of you as police and government with army…
Please never to accept any more excuses from police unit 19, they took my life they torture and humiliate me… I am about to die from the Gas smell in my home, they refused to remove it because they don’t like to prove Steven’s crimes and criminal or to prove my life in danger, or even to prove they are in unit 19 everything has to be done formal, they don’t like to do anything formal…investigate and arrest please, there is secret behind Canberra intelligence here…send huge team to arrest Steven with everyone involved in his crimes with me…
when you send one by one from Canberra or from anywhere, will be easy to mix with the old team and become one of them and close friend to them…repeating what they saying as you know unit 19 easy to bribe anyone…why Canberra federal police and government refusing to end this funny investigation , it was started in year 2003 until now never and will never arrest anyone…about 75%  from unit 19 pretend they are police…from UK and from US also from Canberra acting together and doing nothing…anyone nocking unit 19 door telling they are here to help them…they allow him to stay with them without any investigation about their background and if he is police or not or about their plan, top of barbarism in unit 19.
******The whole media have to write about unit 19 police to end this hell, ask and investigate what hell behind them all since 2003 until now never and will never arrest anyone who exactly behind unit 19…there is some journalists in unit 19 since 2003 misleading all of you taking millions and millions of dollars to bribe the top people from the media to prevent them writing anything about unit 19,
investigate what secret behind unit 19 police, they doing nothing here more than creating excuses to mislead all Australia, there is no connection between Steven’s crimes and any corruption, why they don’t like to arrest Steven first and doing what they like to do from anywhere else, they are here to do review after review after review they repeat themselves hundreds of time, they are waiting for any new corruption coming in the future there is no end to what they are doing since 2003 until now never and will never arrest anyone, please anyone reading my message try to find and report all this to the highest and right  authority in NSW and Canberra to investigate and end this hell …I am really in hell here do something to save us please.
There is some pretend they are from UK and US police for years now from time to time saying they renew their contracts to stay in Australia; no one wants to investigate who exactly renewing their contracts who exactly hiring them, most be some people from Australia, but they renew their contracts from UK and US…no one wants to see their contracts and what exactly written in their contracts or to know who exactly sent them or what hell they are doing here in Australia, or from where they all come, or to ask about any achievement or work they have done here..
unit 19 full by police from NSW and Canberra also from UK and US police, also thousands from the public…misleading all Australia creating unlimited excuses, doing nothing more than having fun together and having huge wages…making unit 19 profitable business and entertainment unit…of course to use unit 19 as it was operation unit to spread fake news from time to time, doing everything illegal with us… installed spy camera in my home turned my life to hell, all this illegal and they have to be asked about all this, and now killing me by Gas…no one wants to investigate and arrest them all…in the same time many of them from Australia and UK pretend they are police while they are not police, they have no idea about the law or the human rights, who will protect me from them all now, unit 19 needs huge team from Canberra with NSW police and army to force them to arrest those criminals or at least to arrest the criminal Steven with everyone else involved in his crimes or to take over… not to send one or two send team to end this hell.
I have no idea why Canberra keep sending people from police and government to stay in unit 19 without doing anything more than creating excuses, keep sending from intelligence and federal also from justice minister Mr Michael Keenan’s staff to stay in unit 19 without asking them about any achievement they all acting with UK and US police to use unlimited excuses, they all behaving very strange here, always worried and scared, panicked and hesitated when anyone ask them to take any legal action pretend they like to do everything accurate for years now…its like a dirty plan to stay in unit 19 to hide corruption…investigate who they are and save our lives from them all now please…
I have no idea why you don’t like to ask UK and US police to leave Australia if they are here to prevent any justice to be done, investigate why the Australian police using UK and US police as excuse while they know they are not police, huge people keep coming to unit 19 pretend they are from UK and US and they are police here to assist unit 19 in their investigation…they have no idea about the law or the human rights here or even in their countries…they all friends invite each other to come to take huge wages from unit 19, the Australian police from Canberra and NSW using UK police as excuses saying they preventing them from arresting anyone, I have no idea and you all have to investigate what sort of power and authority with UK police to be over our police and government, which law they are using here the Australian law or UK law...UK authority urging unit 19 police  to return all of them but unit 19 four old police which they established unlimited investigation about corruption in year 2003 with Canberra police refusing to return them, using them as excuses to stay in unit 19 for ever, they saying they like to do everything accurate since 2005, they said they need to train police and army…also saying they need money to arrest those criminal, also saying they don’t know where to put them…etc., there is new excuses every day…
until when you all will ignore, leaving unit 19 from Australian and UK with US police to spy Australia torturing and humiliating me using Gas to kill me under the name of investigation about corruption, my problem started in year 2002 only with Liverpool court registrar the criminal Steven, unit 19 just flat unit…they are not registered organization or police station, which law will allow them to use unit 19 as operation unit but the truth they use it as profitable business for some and as entertainment unit for others,
as you all know and as unit 19 police said, formal police deputy Nick Kaldas moved to next door block since he was retired, the truth he is not Nick Kaldas he is one from Nick’s family pretend he is Nick Kaldas for long time, he never been police before, he is not educated at all, behaving as he was a wild animal here, in the same time some from the top names promised him to be police minister or commissioner as he was Nick Kaldas, no idea why police unit 19 refused to disclose this matter for long time now, he is full disable on a wheel chair working with UK officer John and another one from UK with dark skin abusing formal police deputy Nick Kaldas job title to do everything illegal on this earth, they can pretend they are from the police minister staff or commissioner offices or even prime minister or premier to get any illegal service from anywhere to anyone,
No idea where is the real Nick Kaldas now…ask unit 19 to know more, they all hiding this matter I have no idea why??? also I have no idea why they left this man to be in war with us without any reason…he is not a human being…
Also and as you all know there is four retired police officers were started unit 19 since 2003, leaded and controlled by formal officer Thomas which he was behind all this conspiracy from the beginning since 2002 as you will read, Thomas created unlimited and unrelated investigation about corruption working with other three friends to hide their corruption and crimes, these four officers with the criminal Steven installed Gas tubes in my home ceiling to kill me, no one wants to order to remove the Gas tubes from my home left me suffer and struggle in front of them all the time…about two years ago, there is some from the top ordered them to leave unit 19, but they refused, after that they said they will send army to unit 19 to drop them from unit 19 but nothing happened until now, they refusing to take any legal action against the criminal Steven or anyone else and refusing to leave unit 19,
they all here to take millions of dollars as wages, no one wants to investigate who exactly behind unit 19 and who supporting them and who paying them millions of dollars to keep going in unit 19 accepting any misleading excuses from them all …why????
Everyone knows unit 19 in Liverpool full and supported by top names from NSW and Canberra police with people from the government, also from the intelligence and federal with police from UK and US and many more from everywhere now and all the time with thousands from the public, doing nothing more than torturing and humiliating me, isolated me dealing with me as I was hostage in my home, installed spy camera in my home watching me everywhere days and nights turned my life to hell, pretending they investigating corruption since 2003 while they all doing nothing more than creating excuses to mislead all of you as police and government, they using unit 19 as it was entertainment unit, they come families together eating and drinking… having fun together, while I suffer and struggle alone in front of them,
spending millions or billions of dollars in their unlimited and unrelated investigation to mislead all Australia…but everyone has to ask why Australia leaders accepted to be misled by them and supporting them, no one wants to investigate what secret behind unit 19 police from everywhere with Liverpool police or to know to whom benefit to keep unit 19 open since 2003 without arresting anyone.…or even investigating who they are …
as I hear every day, there is police and army with fire rescue from everywhere come to unit 19 saying they all ready to remove the Gas tubes from my home ceiling and arrest anyone in their list or even all of them immediately, why they all panic and scared from arresting anyone, the police and army waiting to get instruction from unit 19 police but police unit 19 refusing and creating more excuses to prevent them from arresting anyone, I have no idea what hell behind them all, I am about to die from the Gas smell all the time, there is experts came to unit 19 urging them to remove the Gas tubes from my home but unit19 police refused and refusing any suggestion to solve my problems to leave us living our lives in peace of mind like all of you.
as I see there is no one from between all of you as Australian police and government cares about what unit 19 police pretending they are doing from unlimited investigation about corruption, I have no idea why police unit 19 pretending they burning themselves about corruption since 2003 and never arrested anyone, only to stay in unit 19 taking huge wages millions of dollars each every year …while I am in hell in front of them, they talking about mirage names corruption nothing wrong happened to Australia and never saved Australia from any danger since 2003 until now, only destroyed all my life…twenty years now waiting for justice.
since 2005 saying they need to train police and army to arrest them all at once as one package until now never and will never arrest anyone, me and my children are not responsible about whatever they are talking about, find solution for us now, unit 19 will never stop excuses, its profitable business to all of them, no one wants to investigate who exactly supporting them and supplying them by millions and millions of dollars as wages and other expenses to stay in unit 19 doing nothing more than having fun together…
*******Please protect me and my children from the one which he pretend he is formal deputy Nick Kaldas he moved to next door block since Nick Kaldas retired, he inserted himself in all our lives, also from the criminal Steven Maxwell with many from unit 19,
******Nick Kaldas took all my money from my superannuation last December and closed all my accounts, police unit 19 refusing to investigate where is my money and how my superannuation was stolen from my three accounts, solve this matter now, I need this money, its my money…
******Nick Kaldas with the criminal Steve doing everything ugly with us under unit 19 police supervision, sometimes Nick disconnect my TV Antenna doesn’t like me to watch TV to be completely isolated from the world, police unit 19 doing nothing to stop him, I have no idea what hell they want from me…arrest them now to end this hell.
I have no idea why they all drowning here, as police and government with army from around Australia please, protect us and help them to end their investigation, solve any problem preventing them from arresting Steven and all of them.
They have team in unit 19 working with Steven and Nick bribing and smuggling  people from everywhere, hundreds of them in unit 19.
it looks like matter of time until they kill me by Gas investigate what hell is going on here, I suspect they are not police, where all of you to investigate unit 19, to investigate until when they will mislead all Australia and why ??? Nick Kaldas helping Steven to kill me by Gas because top names promised him to return to his top position as police deputy or to be the future police commissioner, this man pretend he is (Nick) believed I am in his way preventing him from getting the top job, maybe he didn’t finish even year seven, why police unit 19 refusing to take any legal action against them to protect us, nothing more than unlimited promises and excuses, police unit 19 became only addicted to spy people knowing everything about them but will never arrest anyone,
everyone comes to unit 19 refusing to leave unit 19 and refusing to arrest anyone, because the government paying them millions of dollars wages for doing nothing that is why they will never end their investigation, they all living luxury lives having fun here.
*****investigate if Queen Elizabeth keep sending police from UK or they are pretending they are police from UK , team after team comes from UK to live in unit 19, want to stay here watching corruption about all Australia from unit 19 without taking any legal action, they are huge in unit 19 doing nothing, there is no need to any more police to come, they invite their friends from UK and US to take huge wages only to have fun with them …no one asked who hired them or who paying them millions of dollars wages and why ????
*****unit 19 like country inside the country doing what they like as there was no law or police and government in Australia to stop them from abusing us and abusing Australia…where all of you from what they doing with us since 2003, and who give them unlimited power and authority to spy and investigate unlimited corruption from home,
***** Unit 19 was started in year 2003 with journalist Ray Martin and four old and retired police officers came only to investigate and arrest formal Liverpool court registrar the criminal Steven Maxwell when he was living in unit 22 just over us; Steven was arrested in year 2005 by Parramatta police, while Liverpool police refused to arrest him or even to investigate what I told them about him to save my life from him.
****Unit 19 police created unlimited and unrelated investigation about corruption, connected Steven by the whole corruption to hid their crimes…preventing any justice to be done, because formal retired officer Thomas pretend he is from Liverpool police which he was and still leading and controlling unit 19 since 2003 with other three retired officers with Steven were behind all this conspiracy from the beginning used my sister in law in their investigation and in court trial to pretend she is me in year 2002, that is why they will never end their investigation, my compliant in front of all Australian police and government since2003, no one wants to end what they are doing… no idea who behind and protecting them all.
****Steven was moved to unit 22 just over us before officer peter Brooke from Parramatta police arrested him in year 2005 because he used my sister in law in court trial to pretend she is me, Steven criminal and has criminal record after that Liverpool court sacked him,
Peter Brooke with unit 19 arranged to fabricate everything by helping the criminal Steven to escape from Australia to US, but he returned to Australia, he comes to unit 19 from time to time…but his sister victoria with their uncle living in unit 21…
When Steven was living in unit 22 over us and before he was arrested from here, installed Gas tubes in my home ceiling under unit 19 police supervision to kill me, all NSW and Canberra police and government know and aware by everything but no one wants to save us, who is Steve on this earth to be over the law and why? Who exactly behind this criminal and behind unit 19 police, they making me and Steven profitable business...
As I heard justice minister from Canberra Mr Michael Keenan sent some from his staff to unit 19 for long time now working with NSW police minister refusing to take any legal action, they want unit 19 to keep going on their unlimited and unrelated investigation about corruption without arresting anyone, NSW police minister trying to force unit 19 police to fabricate everything against me to say I am not I am, wants to fabricate everything to close unit 19 without any justice working with the one pretending formal deputy Nick Kaldas promising him to be commissioner will help him to work from home because he is seriously ill ,
They know I am very respectable, educated and religious person I was Accountant & Tax Consultant in Australia and Finance Specialist & Auditors in my country, Steven and his family destroyed all my life, they didn’t like me to get any job for long time now.
where all of you as police and government to save my life from the criminal Steven protected by unit 19 police with Liverpool police, they all retired old people over seventy years old created unlimited jobs for themselves to stay here until they die, they take huge wages over one million dollar each every year, for doing nothing more than hosting people to mislead them,
When I send my message through social media, hundreds of people contact unit 19 and Liverpool police station also tens of people from top names from police and government run to unit 19 to see what hell they are doing,
Unit 19 needs team from most powerful and authorized people from police and government with army far from NSW and Liverpool police… honest with clean hands, to come to to force with to arrest those criminals or to come with final decisions to arrest them and take over from unit 19 and Liverpool police…to stop them from using and abusing me and all of you, to stop their wages now, stop supporting them now…first remove the gas tubes from my home ceiling and arrest the criminal Steve with everyone involved in his crimes against us immediately, investigate why they connected his crimes by the whole corruption…
I was and still victim to Liverpool police since 1998, now Liverpool leading and controlling the whole investigation about corruption, Mark McCollum (professional stander manager) from Liverpool police controlling everything, he will never end his investigation, my complaint in front of him for years now refused even to answer my calls or to answer my emails, Mark with others four old retired officers in unit 19 leading and controlling the whole investigation about corruption since 2005, he is close friend to unit 19 police also close friend to the criminal Steven and his family, he will never end his investigation and will keep going in their investigation for ever without arresting anyone, to protect Steve and Thomas and protect themselves with many others, no idea where all of you as police and government from what they are doing here…
Under which law they do what they are doing in unit 19… only spying and watching big names and big organizations since 2003 under the name of unlimited investigation, they are here to investigate any corruption happened in the past or any current corruption, or any other corruption will be happened in the future without arresting anyone.
No one wants to investigate who they are...or from which organization…no one investigated if they were police or not and if they were registered to do what they are doing or not, there is nothing about their investigation in any police station or court, everything only between their hands…of course… me and my children are not responsible about what they are doing here…they doing everything illegal with us, but who will protect us from them all…
Of course you all like to know how unit 19 was started:
***** I sent hundreds of emails to the all NSW and Canberra police and government in year 2002 and after, there was no respond or help from anyone, after that I sent many emails to the media, that is why the journalist Ray Martin with some police came to unit 19 only to investigate and arrest the criminal Steve in year 2003, as I said Steven was arrested in year 2005 from unit 22 just over us by Parramatta police after Liverpool police refused to take any legal action against him, because Steve used my sister in law in court trial to pretend she is me, my sister in law had an accident and she has brain damage that is why he used her, to revenge from his half-brother Dr. peter Campbell to prevent him from marrying me, they all dirty and disgusting family eating in each other,
At this time I sent tens of emails to Liverpool police told them Steven used my sister in law in the court to pretend she is me but they did nothing, I sent emails to Parramatta police, after long investigation from Parramatta, they proved Steven was behind this conspiracy, officer peter Brooke from Parramatta police arrested Steven after he saw my sister in law in the court pretending she is me, but he with unit 19 police at this time fabricated everything never notified me or sent me any litters to tell me what happened,
They said Steven rich that is why they don’t like to arrest him, they all know how and from where Steven and his family became rich, any money they have was stolen and police unit 19 aware and know from where they got all this money and how they became rich, Steven and his family come from very poor background, Steven’s father was working in charity, his mum was nanny, his grandfather was cleaner…from where all what they have from money and assets, since when the Australian law protecting criminals because they are rich, its black money as they say.
For example, after they paid to Midas mechanic to damage my car to kill me, they said I had an accident while I have never had any accident and my car still in the garage, after that Steven with officer Thomas which he was leading unit 19 investigation…took my life insurance in full from St George bank and took compensation as I was full disable, as I heard also they got about half million dollars compensation under my name…it’s very clear it wasn’t first time to do something dirty like this…that is how they became rich…
That is why Thomas connected Steven’s crimes by unlimited and unrelated investigation about corruption to hide his crimes.
unit 19 police trying to find any excuses to stay in unit 19 …there is huge secret behind them, there is a hidden strong hands behind unit 19 no one wants to investigate who exactly supporting them and why you don’t like to sack them immediately…remove the Gas tubes from my home and arrest the criminal Steve first to save our lives,
****Unit 19 full by police from everywhere, my messages used as it was advertises to who wants to be Multi-Millionaire??? Everyone comes to unit 19 doesn’t like to arrest anyone or to leave, everyone comes with his new opinion and new plan as there was no law, everyone wants to take his turn in unit 19, forgot about the law or the human rights, they like to stay for their own benefit, no one cares about corruption…no idea who is paying millions of dollars wages for them or supplying them by all what they need to use unit 19 as it was entertainment unit encouraging them to stay here for ever, they change their mind many times every day, no one asking them about any achievement…
they making unit 19 entertainment unit, for police and public with their families, to come here eating and drinking and having fun together, working hard to satisfy the public and other police to shut their mouth, while they isolated me watching me suffer and struggle in front of them alone here, they spread fake news from time to time by saying they about to arrest some criminals but never happened until now …
police unit 19 have website asking and advising anyone from police and government to read it before they come to repeat or to say what they like them to say, to spread fake news misleading the whole community…but why ???if they don’t like to arrest anyone why they don’t like to find solution for me and my children…
they said they finished investigation about corruption long time ago repeating what they have done again and again, saying arresting all those criminals will cost Australia millions and millions of dollars, while to leave unit 19 open costing Australia more and more, by logic and by the law justice has to be done …
you all know they mislead all of you, using theory and verbal misleading promises or showing you some files full by information about criminals without taking any legal action against any of them, but why you all as police and government silent left them to corrupt and mislead all of you…why you don’t like to take any legal action against them since 2003 until now never and will never arrest anyone doing nothing more than spying big names and big companies and organizations, They use and abuse the information which they get about people for their own benefit, scaring everyone from what they have from any information about them to shut their mouths…why ??? They need iron and clean hands to stop them and take over to end this hell.
************Unit 19 police from NSW and Canberra with UK and US police with the public living luxury life and having fun together while I am dying alone from the Gas smell in my home urging and begging them all the time to remove it or even to order the criminal Steven with the criminal man which he pretends he is Nick Kaldas to turn it off but they doing nothing, isolated me dealing with me as hostage in my home,
*****of course unit 19 open to any other visitors from police and government with others from ICAC and ombudsman or any other police thousands came urging unit 19 to arrest Steve or find solution for me and my children to end this hell, thousands from the public in unit 19 come here to have fun…
***** many came from UK and Us pretend they are police doing nothing more than spying all NSW and Canberra want to fabricate everything to close unit 19 to go to Melbourne to do the same spying big names under the name of investigation about corruption refusing to arrest anyone, they renew their contracts without any need to any of them, they all here to take huge wages nothing else, they panic when you ask them to arrest anyone, I have no idea which law they will use in their investigation, US or UK or Australia law, when I sent messages to Queen Elizabeth and princes William and Harry with prince Charles, also to president Trump, they contacted unit 19 police urging  them to return them to their countries (UK and US)…but they all refused…
****many came from Canberra intelligence to sack up to all of them doing nothing more than creating excuses turned everything from bad to worse refusing to return to Canberra, they spy unit 19 police and spread any information they hear about, it’s very clear there is huge secret behind them, saying they have the most powerful and authority to do anything but cant remove the Gas tubes and arrest Steven, of course nothing for free, unit 19 have team bribing people from everywhere to prevent any justice to be done, no one asked them what hell they have done since they came to unit 19,
***also in July 2017 formal and retired James came from Canberra intelligence, before he was retired by only a few weeks, he is from my family, he used to come to unit 19 in last three years before he was retired …arranging to come after he will retire, as I heard long time ago he said if anyone asked him to arrest any Coptic he will retire, there is huge number from the Coptic orthodox involved in this matter and many of them in unit 19 all the time, he is here to stay for the rest of his life, I believe any retired people have to stay home, Of course by the law it’s illegal to anyone to investigate any matter if he is related to any sides, he and nick from our family that is why James has to be isolated from the investigation …in general all unit 19 police trying to find any excuses to stay forever,
********** I am writing from Liverpool/Sydney/Australia, urging QUEEN ELIZABETH with US president Mr. Trum, please help us, also I am writing to our Egyptian president Mr. El Sisi to contact our prime minister to save my life from unit 19 police, they tortured and humiliated me for twenty years now isolated me dealing with me as I was hostage in my home.
I am about to die from the Gas smell in my home, please do something to save my life, unit 19 in Liverpool/Sydney full by police from UK and US with police from Canberra and NSW with others from the government and thousands from the public pretend they all here to investigate corruption since 2003, never and will never arrest anyone…came to unit 19 only to investigate and arrest criminal from Liverpool court his name is Steven… installed spy cameras in my home watching me days and nights turned my life to hell…torturing and humiliating me, isolated me dealing with me as I was hostage in my home…installed Gas tubes in my home ceiling to kill me…my complaint in front of the whole Australian police and government no one wants to be responsible or arrest any of them to end this hell…
Please Queen Elizabeth…some people in unit 19 pretend they are from UK police here to help Australian police in their investigation about corruption, doing nothing here refusing to return to UK, someone his name is Rob with dark skin…I heard he is very aggressive since he arrived to Australia, now he started to threat to kill me, a few days I was coming from outside and he was going downstairs from unit 19, came in front of my face used his hand as it was Gun and threat to kill me, today he met my son and threat to kill me … always flowing me everywhere I go …please send team from UK to take him from Australia with the other four officers because another one his name is Andrew doing the same with me.
there is 5 people came from UK with one or two from US since year 2015 pretend they are police here to help and assist unit 19 to investigate corruption… they all saying they were sent by Queen Elizabeth and president Trump…the truth they all here to do nothing only to take huge wages using Queen’s name and US president.
they all like to fabricate everything and close unit 19 to go to Melbourne to play the same game, refusing to remove the Gas tubes from my home ceiling and preventing the Australian police from arresting the criminal Steve or anyone else, in the same time they refusing to leave Australia and return to UK and US…some people bribed them to stay here…
Please Queen Elizabeth with president Trump with UK prime minister send police with army to remove them from here please, work with Australia prime minister and NSW premier to do something to save my life.
{Also I urge you to call our prime minister and NSW premier, to send experts team from army and police with fire and rescue to remove the Gas tubes from my home ceiling now arresting the criminal Steve with one pretending he is formal police deputy Nick Kaldas I am about to die from the Gas smell in my home its dirty conspiracy...Nick Kaldas disconnected even my TV antenna to be completely isolated}
Queen Elizabeth with US president Mr Trump and our Egyptian president with the whole world, do something to save my life, 20 years now waiting for justice from the Australian police and government but no one wants to take any legal action against unit 19 and what they are doing with us, there is no privacy and freedom I am in hell here…
the criminal Steven with someone pretend he is formal police deputy Nick Kaldas with some from UK and US police working together to kill me by Gas, (they know he is not formal police deputy, he never worked as police before) all unit 19 police know and aware he is not Nick for long time, but they use and abuse the power and the authority which they have, I believe they all not police, all UK and US police behaving very strange here, they achieved nothing since they came to Australia preventing the Australian police to take any legal action,
all UK police if they were police weak and scared, panicked refusing to arrest anyone, everyone has different opinion as there was no law or other police to protect me from them all, unit 19 police saying UK and Us police preventing them from arresting anyone, that is why they don’t like to leave Australia I am in hell here, please investigate if they are police or not.
***please talk and arrange direct with our prime minister to send team from UK to withdraw and return them all to UK and US now, they doing nothing more than creating excuses to mislead all Australia taking huge wages, they have order to arrest some people but they refused, trying to delay everything…taking us from week to week and from month to month for more than three years now …save my life please
unit 19 in Liverpool full by police from UK and US with Australian police with people from the government saying they all here to investigate corruption making me bridge to get what they want since 2003 until now never arrested anyone, no one wants to investigate why the Australian police with the government want to use Gas to kill me after they tortured and humiliated me for twenty years, it means its not investigation about corruption and there is secret behind them.
the Australian police and government refusing to remove the Gas tubes from my home ceiling left the criminal Steve with the one pretending he is formal police deputy Nick Kaldas with officer John and Ben with their UK friends using Gas to kill me, writing to all NSW and Canberra police and government and writing to the whole world to do something to save us from unit 19 police and the Australian police and government races and discrimination, call them to arrest those people now please to save my life…
there is no friendly investigation can be done from homes, they using unit 19 as it was entertainment unit having fun together, while I am alone suffer and struggle from all what they are doing in front of them, dying from the Gas smell in my home while unit 19 full by police and others from the government no one cares about me or even about Australia, they can arrest the criminal Steven with everyone else involved with him doing any other investigation from anywhere else in the future,
I have no idea why they don’t like to remove the Gas tubes from my home ceiling and arrest the criminal Steven to end this hell doing what they like to do in the future, he is criminal and has criminal record, he is nothing he come from very poor family…but he can fraud and fabricate anything, he can do any illegal service to anyone that is why he surrounded himself by some people working for him…bribing people not from his own pocket but from the government pocket.
The criminal Steven installed spy camera in my home since 1998, police unit 19 instead they remove it and arrest Steven, they left it to satisfy him, there is no privacy or freedom in my life, watching me 24 hours a day turned my life to hell, pretend they making me bridge to get some other criminal, the truth they making me bridge to get millions and millions of dollars as wages and get whatever they like from behind this dirty operation.
There is no end to what they are doing here…hopefully to get very serious instruction from Queen Elizabeth with US president…to save our lives from them all, it’s very easy to remove the Gas tubes from my home ceiling and arrest the criminal Steven, take their time to investigate any corruption in the future.
Also, urging UN secretary to protect me from all unit 19 police they doing everything illegal with us, my complaint in front of every prime minister and every premier with every responsible from police and government in NSW and Canberra since 2003, no one wants to do anything to save us.
as a human rights secretary with UK queen and US president order the Australian police and government to remove the Gas tubes from my home ceiling now, to stop using and abusing us, do something to save us from them all please,
Please Queen Elizabeth with US president withdraw your staff from here because they all working hard with some from the Australian police to prevent any justice to be done, I am in hell here,
Of course UK and US police don’t have any power or authority to prevent the Australian police from arresting any criminals but they all working together to fabricate everything, creating new unlimited and unrelated excuses to stay in unit 19 for ever, I have no idea why the government and the police silent and ignoring what they are doing with us.
no idea to who benefit to keep unit 19 open spending millions or billions of dollars to keep it open, the police and government paying unit 19 police huge wages to satisfy them to shut their mouth to keep unit 19 open,
***unit 19 was started in year 2003 by four old and retired police officers with some from the media came here only to investigate and arrest formal Liverpool court registrar the criminal Steven Maxwell with some others from his family in unit 21 and 22, Steven was arrested in year 2005 from unit 22 just over us, but didn’t jail him…they said they discovered corruption in Liverpool court, and in all Australia, they started investigation about corruption from unit 19 since they arrested Steven in year 2005…until now never and will never arrest anyone.
Of course, the federal police with the intelligence with the army with NSW police can do everything without asking the police minister because he doesn’t like to end unit 19 investigation and without taking any order from UK and US police, me and my children are not responsible about what they are doing, enough we lost twenty years from our lives suffering and struggling in front of them, unit 19 police with Liverpool police using and abusing us without mercy for their own interest, no one cares about Australia, what hell will be happened to Australia  if they arrested the criminal Steven first to finish what they like to do from anywhere.
UK and US police from time to time they hide themselves for a few days and come back to unit 19 saying they renew their contracts from UK and US… I have no idea who exactly renewing their contracts if there is no need to all of them here in Australia.
its unbelievable to any people to do contract together in any foreign country without Australia being part in their contract, or without asking Australia government and police if they need them or not, in the same time Australia paying them huge wages, not anyone to come to say they have contract with their president or queen and Australia accept them and paying them without any investigation, those huge foreign police behaving very strange doing everything illegal with us as they were never heard about the law or what is legal or illegal or even the human rights, in the same time which law they will use in their investigation, the Australian law or US or UK law ???  I believe they all not police at all.
They working hard to fabricate everything and spy Australia under the name of investigation about corruption, why the Australian inelegancy and boarder security with the government left them to corrupt in Australia, where is the federal police and NSW police, where is the government from all what unit 19 police doing here since 2003, top of barbarism,
Steven and his family threat to explode the whole building if unit 19 police will not do what they like them to do, but no one wants to ask police unit 19 what the secret behind them to leave criminals like Steven and his sister victoria with the rest of their family to threat them, why they don’t like to remove the Gas tubes from my home ceiling and arrest them all for our safety I live in huge block with huge number of resident,
they bribe people and they get bribed that is why there is no one wants to save us, you can see huge corruption in our Egyptian embassy here, they bribe Egyptian ambassadors since 2003 until now I cant get any help from any of them, they bribed our Coptic church bishop Daniel to fabricate death certificate for me and paid him millions of dollars…etc.,
most of unit 19 police from Australia or UK with US working hard to fabricate everything and close unit 19 without arresting anyone without any justice, UK officers saying they will take Australia state after state to help them to investigate corruption next step will be Melbourne after they knew everything about NSW.
When I sent my messages to the police with government and army, immediately they run to unit 19 to ask them if they need help to remove Gas and arrest Steven with any people corrupting in Australia, but police unit 19 refuse and preventing them to do anything, since year 2005 they saying its only papers work to end what they are doing, no one wants to investigate who exactly preparing papers work for thousands of criminals at once, why they took all this time to finalize what they are doing, why they don’t like to save my life first, nothing more than excuses to stay in unit 19 taking huge wages.
if UK and US police here because they are experts in corruption why they didn’t train the Australian police or give some instruction and leave them to do what they like to do, but they all here to stay in Australia want to control unit 19 and all Australia, to protect criminals like Steven getting millions of dollars, no one wants to investigate what they have done until now, if they achieved anything for Australia or what hell behind them,
unit 19 with Steven have team bribing and smuggling people from everywhere to Australia and to anywhere around the world of course nothing for free, they brought all my school and work friends from overseas without any conditions with hundreds or maybe  thousands from their families even my school’s teachers with their families, hundreds of them keep coming to Australia and going to unit 19 to solve any problems they face in Australia, unit 19 has team to solve all their problems, like helping their children to go to school or taking money from Centerlink… waiting to fabricate everything against me to destroy all my life to give them permanent visa to stay in Australia everything under unit 19 police supervision working with the one pretending he is formal police deputy Nick Kaldas, I have no idea why ???
Also they can smuggle people from or to any other country like US or France…etc., they can do anything from here, they can fabricate any degree certificate for anyone…they can fabricate anything to get people work with and for them, huge corruption in unit 19.
since 2005 unit 19 police saying they need to train police and army to arrest them, I believe the Australian army and police trained enough and ready to do what they like them to do but there is dirty secret behind unit 19…to keep it open for ever, the army urging them to handle everything to them to finish it but police unit 19 refused,
I am very respectable, educated and religious person I was Accountant & Tax Consultant in Australia and Finance Specialist & Auditors in my country, Steve and his family destroyed my life, they didn’t like me to get any job for long time.
My two children very educated and respectable two men, both of them have master degree and both of them in very good positions…why no one cares about us trying to protect criminals like Steven and his family, who exactly behind Steven and behind unit 19 police corruption…
I am in hell here, I am really very sick from the Gas smell in my home days and nights, thousands of people from police and government with huge from the public watching me days and night in my home for years now, its clear conspiracy from them all …
*******I will give you very quick idea about some from unit 19 people; you all have to know who is managing and directing unit 19, to see who from between them all will work for justice to be done for me and my children, or who will arrest Steve or anyone from their list which they are talking about it since 2003,
(1) the mean four police officers ( I believe they are not police ) in unit 19, formal retired police officer Mr Thomas with other three retired police came to unit 19 in year 2003 only to investigate and arrest the criminal Steven, they all over 70 years old, Thomas was the one helped the criminal Steven to use my sister in law in court trial in year 2002 to pretend she is me, that is why he connected Steven crimes by unlimited and unrelated investigation about corruption to hide their crimes saying he will never allow anyone to arrest his friend Steven, as you know Steven was arrested in year 2005 because he used my sister in law in court trial to pretend she is me to revenge from his half-brother Dr. peter Campbell to stop him from marrying me, officer Thomas was behind this conspiracy and helped Steven to escape from Australia to US after Liverpool court sacked him from his job as registrar, now Thomas seriously ill, but he wants to destroy me with everyone else before he dies.
(2) someone pretend he is formal police deputy Nick Kaldas, after real Nick was retired from his job as deputy this man moved to next door block, works very hard with UK and US police to satisfy Mr Thomas and Steven’s family believed he with US officer John can mislead Australia to allow him to work as police commissioner, he is seriously ill, he is full disable on a wheel chair…he is behaving as he was a wild animal not a human being, he spread the barbarism in Liverpool, can cheat and fabricate anything, as there was no law or other police and government to protect me and protect all Australia from them all, he  doesn’t like to die, believed he will be commissioner or police minister one day….!!!
(3)  as I said there is four police officers from UK, one of them his name is John working very hard to fabricate everything to close unit 19 without arresting anyone, of course nothing for free, there is huge secret behind all unit 19 police in general and behind UK police in particular, they have very strange behave, if you ask them to arrest anyone they panic and scare…if they will not arrest anyone what hell they are doing in unit 19.
(4) the second UK officer his name is Ben, I have no idea what exactly he wants from me, as I heard he asked unit 19 police to force me to marry him to take me to UK with him to close unit 19 without arresting anyone, of course I refused because my life in danger here, that is why he is very angry and wants to destroy my life.
(5) The third UK officer Anthony wants to stay in Australia, he went to Steven’s family in unit 21 asked them to remove the spy cameras secretly from my home to say there is no cameras in my home and there is no connection between unit 19 police and me, and no one torturing me or anything else, they like to stay in Australia for ever under the name of investigation about corruption without arresting anyone, just to spy people and know everything about corruption and taking huge wages for doing nothing, another officer came from UK after the other three officers, he is Indian back ground I am not sure about his name maybe (James), he wants to fabricate everything as I heard he is very aggressive man, unit 19 became business to anyone to come to corrupt as they like and pay them huge wages, without even investigating who they are,
(6) other police officers from US his name, doing nothing in unit 19 and refusing to return to US, all UK and US police doing nothing insist to stay in Australia trying to be aggressive to stay in Australia, who sent them, everyone wants to know, urging the queen with US president with NSW and Canberra police and government to investigate what secret behind all those people all what they are doing here, protecting criminals torturing and humiliating me use Gas to kill me…working hard to close unit 19 without any justice and escape from Australia without arresting anyone or to stay here forever, all unit 19 spying each other trying to spread any news they hear to prevent any justice to be do..
(7) also in unit 19, the criminal Steven’s family sister and their uncle living in unit 21, but they stay the whole time with unit 19 police; they can’t hide any secret from them, they dealing with this matter as they were commanders not criminals, in general all police unit 19 can’t hide any secret from anyone even from the public, if anyone arrange anything secretly with them they spread it immediately trying to find anyone to stop them, they acting together as it was movie, top of barbarism in unit 19.
(8) there is many from our community from Coptic priests and bishops with many others, with the Egyptian ambassadors from Sydney and Canberra, Steven and some from unit 19 have team only here to bribe people, they bribed all to work hard with all the above people to fabricate everything, to work with them against me to keep me isolated, our Coptic bishop Daniel with Fr. Hanna Gad fabricated death certificate for me in 2004 as I heard they paid them millions of dollars…etc…,
(9) for years now,  there is more police started to come  to unit 19 as I heard they are secret agency and federal police from Canberra, they came to end this hell, but very quick they became close friends to unit 19 police with Liverpool police, kept me isolated working with them to torture and humiliate me to use Gas to kill me, never Canberra asked them about what they have done or when they will end their investigation, working with and supporting UK and US police, refusing to return any of them to their counties while Queen Elizabeth with president Trump asked them many times to return them, they know I was and still victim to Liverpool police since 1998, now Liverpool police only police investigating unlimited and unrelated corruption to take the rest of my life to protect some criminals, while unit 19 police doing nothing,
why the government and police department supplying them by millions and millions of dollars to keep unit 19 open and sending them more police to stay in unit 19 without taking any legal action against any criminals or against them, they doing nothing more than working together to hide corruption not to investigate corruption,
until when the Australian police and government will believe them, left them to use unit 19 as it was entertainment unit having fun together doing nothing more than hosting people from everywhere and answering the phone as it was club watching me suffer and struggle and dying from the Gas smell in front of them, there is no privacy or freedom in my life, turned my life to hell, I didn’t see a doctor for years now because they replaced any medication by poison,
please to everyone in Australia and around the world do something to protect us from unit 19 police and Liverpool police, please save us help us to get out of this hell, enough we lost twenty years in front of them waiting for justice, unit 19 police with the local refusing to use the law, everyone wants to say his own opinion according to his own benefit and interest, nothing will harm Australia if they arrested the criminal Steven first to live our lives me and my children in peace of mind like everyone else, they can finish their investigation about corruption from anywhere else, who is Steve on this earth to be protected by big names in Australia,
please to end this hell… remove the Gas tubes from my home ceiling and arrest the criminal Steve with everyone else involved in his crimes with us , please do something to save us now ……

Excellent Book I read this book and enjoyed it. Havong worked with Kit {Christopher}at Palm Breach County Fire Rescue his knowledge of the department is right on. His stories about the department, ansd some of the members was spot on. Kit was an excellant fire officer and a mentor to many young firefighters throughout his career. Go to Amazon
Five Stars Great read, good historical look through the eyes of the author Go to Amazon
I had the great privilege to work with Chief Howes I had the great privilege to work with Chief Howes. We began our careers during the same time period in Palm Beach County. Chief Howes did an outstanding job describing the difficulty that we all experienced early in our careers. He accurately documents the transformation of a rag tag bunch of independent Fire Control Districts into what is now one of the most progressive professional Fire/Rescue departments in the nation Palm Beach County Fire/Rescue. Every firefighter can read this and relate to the stories conveyed by the author. Although the names and faces are different the characters are the same as in any fire station. This is a must read for any firefighter. Well done Chief Howes! Go to Amazon
Terrific Story Well Told There are a lot of memoirs by police officers, but a lot fewer by fire fighters. That alone makes this a welcome addition to the bookshelf, but this book is far more than that. Kit Howes joined what is now Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue just as the enormous boom in South Florida's growth was about to begin, so you get a story about both the coming of age and increasing maturity of a young man who finds a purpose in life helping others and the story of the growing pains of a vital community service as a rural community develops into a upscale suburban market. Go to Amazon
Very well written This was an exceptionally well written book and very informative. Knew nothing about the inside of firefighting before reading and found it worth reading. This will definitly capture your interest from the start. Well done. Go to Amazon
A well written look at firefighting Kit's style is crisp and entertaining from start to finish. I rarely find a book hard to put down-especially non fiction-but this was a very fast read. I know nothing about fire fighting, but now I can begin to understand the minds of the men and women who run into fires rather than run away from them Thanks, Kit, for an honest look at the profession-and the people- you love. Go to Amazon
Hot Zone's Relevance for All Kit Howes' fire&rescue-service memoir is a rare, insightful, eye-witness account of the transitional epoch from minimally-trained, volunteer first responders to a modern, high-tech profession with world standards. As a retired officer in the merchant marine, I appreciated the themes of practical jokes, gusto for life, action over words, and life-and-death survival that are common to all first-responder professions. Successful publishing helps our civilian families understand how our professions made us different. Good stories create a proud heritage that helps young professionals get through bad days of bureaucracy, politics and BS. And for all audiences, an action report from a less-publicized sector of public service can make us grateful for things we might otherwise take for granted. Well done, Chief Howes. Go to Amazon
Hot Zone What a great book !!! I enjoyed reading Hot Zone immenseley. The only connection I have to any fire department is a wonderful cousin who is a firefighter and terrific friends (one of whom recommended this book) who are firefighters. I'm SO glad I read it--it is enlightening for those of us who admire firefighters and the work they do every day. The single most impressive aspect of their careers, to me, is the continuous and intensive training that's involved. I also learned about the teamwork and the dedication of firefighters each day they are on duty. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about what happens behind the scenes in a fire department. It's sensational !!!

Go to Amazon
