I'm a little late on getting this second part up, but it's not like tv shows have schedules or time frames or anything so it's fine.

Sora: Warrior Of The Sea

BTS Blue Ray Extra: Costumes, Hair & Make Up (Part Two: Sora & Allies)

Boa's, Zoro's and X. Drake's (cast as Brími) as well as Ace's non raid suit are all pretty easy deals, since they're all upper ranking marine uniforms. Fortunately, officers are given a little more freedom with their uniforms, allowing Bon Clay to added some of the characters' personalities to their appearences.

So of course Boa Hancock brings in a team of her own fashion consultant to design Vice Admiral Reijin Umiko uniform form scratch. She couldn't bare to spend a whole who knows how many seasons in something forgettable and drab. And since Production Policy is "just try not to piss off Hancock" she ends up with the uniform she wants. Which is mostly just a marine cape, no sleeves, and a variety of designer outfits.

X. Drake's character, Himiya Brími , is a retire Rear Admiral, though he still stays in touch with his naval contacts, and acts almost as an outside consultant. So the costuming department decides to go with something navy like but without the officer coat. They go with a short white jacket with red fur accents that looks like Brimi might have worn it as a uniform at one point only the marine insignias are all gone. He wears black, leather like pants and gloves that go up to his nearly his wrist despite most of that being under the coat to cover the burn marks up and down his arm. The jacket is typically left unbuttoned, showing off the tattoo of his former division - the Fire Lizards.

Portgas D. Ace looks handsome as hell in full navy dress, identical to what Captain Akitsuyo Sora. is seen wearing in the comics, and also hates everything about it. Why are the pants so tight? He runs hot already there's no way he can deal with three (three!) Shirts. He wants to throw it in a dumpster and burn the whole thing.

Eventually they agree that he can go shirtless, but he has to wear the full proper captain's coat, not just hang it over his shoulders like most do. They get him some slightly more comfortable white trousers and let him wear black boots beneath them. Bon Clay accents the uniform in his characters colors and everyone but even Law eventually comes around and agrees it works.

Of course, Sora's more iconic look is his stolen Germa 66 Raid Suit. The costume department upgrades that design, same as they had the other Raid Suits, mostly by streamlining it, adding the more technological looking boots, adding in some detail to his gloves and.making the helmet a little less goofy (although of course it's still a must as neither Germa not the navy know Sora's identity at the start. At least it doesn't have a seagull on it like in the Saturday morning cartoon). Basically, they just being if closer in line with the other raid suit designs.

Somehow, even with the helmet, Ace looks amazing in that, too.

For Roronoa Zoro's uniform as Lieutenant Tadahiro Daichi, Bon Clay stats him off in just the basic lieutenant uniform, assuming Zoro will likewise have tons of notes. (It's a bit concerning he brought his swords with him). Surprisingly, he has no comments. He doesn't even bother looking in a mirror, instead making sure he can still move enough in sword fight, which he totally can. So he's fine with it.

Law thinks it might be an actual miracle.

Until Bon Clay speaks up. He really hadn't been expecting no comments and he refuses to accept it. You can't put him next to the main character wearing a genetic uniform. He pretty much demands Zoro strips on the spot so he can fix this travesty. Law is quick to leave before the headache starts.

When he comes back, Zoro's has a much baggier coat that goes just bellow his waist And is inexplicably light green. He has the sleeves, which would swallow him otherwise, rolled up high. Its technically on, except it's big enough that it keeps falling off his shoulders. By all rights it should fall open and off except just under the waist there's a belt has been added for his swords, making the V shaped opening look like a very short kimono.

To counter the lose fit of the coat his pants - dark green cause why not - seem impossibly tight. Laws surprised they got him in those without a fight. The only part of the once white uniform to remain the same color is a white sleeveless button down vest that, again, is way too tight for Law's liking and also somehow looks worse than if he were just shirtless. There's no way he can fight in that thing, he can probably barely /breath/.

Law keeps waiting for Zoro to start making comments but again, he has nothing to say. He does his little practice moves, slides the sword back around his waist and finally smiles.

"I like the belt, this is way more practical," he tells Bon Clay. Law wonders if he knows what the word practical means. Pants that cling to every curve of muscle and a vest with buttons clearly meant to be ripped off is not suddenly made practical just because there's an easy place to hang a sword. Also, he's suppose to be a high ranked marine but they can't buy him coat that fits instead of one that keeps slipping off his shoulders?

So of course everyone but Law thinks it's perfect (even though as far as he can tell Zoro never once actually looks in mirror. It seems the ability to still do his own sword fights really was his only requirement.)

Law can't explain it, just like he can't really explain why he dislikes Zoro so immensely, but he hates that costume.

Because of course this is before they even strat shooting, meaning Law would still be pissy at Zoro by this point, and suddenly he finds himself pissed off and turned on all at once.

Law is going to look back at this in a year and hate himself when it finally clicks. He just left Zoro, shirt already falling off, with Ace - who the whole crew agrees looks incredibly sexy in the uniform and that was before he lost the shirt - and not only is Ace not irrationally upset at Zoro, he's all too happy to help out the newbie actor even if it's just something like reassuring him how he looks amazing in costume and hey if Zoro has any questions or something he can always come to Ace. His door is always open to Zoro.

Law hates Ace in part because Ace is just so open about flirting and he does it so easily and he's so sexy when he does it and fuck, nope, not going there. Not going to that weird place where the thought of Ace and Zoro together makes him want to scream but it also conjures images of them together infront of him on a bed at his mercy and THAT IS NOT WHERE HE WAS SUPPOSED TO GO WITH THIS

He's angry and he's jealous but he's also about three seconds away from pushing Zoro up against Ace because Law can't help but find the idea of Zoro begging for two men so incredibly sexy it literally breaks his brain. Oh, he's still jealous as fuck, but that doesn't stop him wanting to rip that damn uniform right of the stuntman and see how far him and Portgas-ya could push him until he breaks.

OL Reign’s Bethany Balcer unexpectedly burst onto the scene last season as she won the 2019 NWSL Rookie of the Year. When you add her backstory and personality to her skill on the pitch, she is truly a rising star in the league.

Instead of attending a big college after starring for Unity Christian High School, Balcer stayed in Michigan to play for Spring Arbor, an NAIA school. During her four years as a Cougar, she put up massive numbers, never scoring fewer than 30 goals in a season. Bethany ended her career with 129 goals and 45 assists. She went on to try out for Reign FC and became the first NAIA alum to ink a deal in the NWSL. In her first professional season, she scored six goals and added two assists.

Did she benefit from having so much success at a smaller school more than a player having less production at a bigger school? “If we’re talking about benefitting me going pro, it didn’t help at all. It actually made it harder,” Bethany told BGN. “But in terms of growing my soccer ability, I think it provided many benefits. I was able to develop a confidence on the ball that has made me more comfortable in games. Having time and space to dribble made me a more fearless player. I had more opportunities to develop a scoring mentality and that played out in all four of my years.”

“Soccer never felt like a burden or a job, and I have many friends at D1 schools who have felt that way. Going to an NAIA school really allowed me to relax and continue to enjoy the game.”

Bethany wasn’t the only one in her house growing up that enjoyed soccer, as her four siblings all played the sport. “I’m super grateful to come from a soccer family. Some of my best memories are being dragged to my older siblings’ tournaments and playing with them,” Bethany said.

“We’re all incredibly competitive which made for many arguments, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. We love all sports, and often would play things other than soccer, like make-up games like roller blade football soccer (exactly how it sounds),” she added with a laugh.

As the second-youngest of the Balcer kids, Bethany does hold a competitive edge over her younger brother, Grant, who was a goalkeeper at Unity Christian. She recalled, “Last year when I was home, I took three PKs on him and made all 3. So I’m 100% against him and probably won’t take anymore!”

Grant wrapped up his high school athletic career and will be heading to Seattle University to join the Redhawks soccer team. “He’s one of my favorite people on this earth so I’m excited for him to continue his dream of playing a sport collegiately,” the proud big sister said.

Including for her funny back-and-forth exchanges with Grant, Bethany is a must-follow across social media. She said, “I’ve tamed my TikTok addiction, but they are so fun to make and I love being goofy with my teammates!”

While she has fun doing dances with teammates like Sofia Huerta and Taylor Smith, Balcer also understands the opposite side of social media. She’s been outspoken on Twitter about the social justice issues that are affecting the United States. “I think it’s incredibly important for everyone to recognize the platform they’ve been given and use it to speak out about social justice issues. I’ve learned so much from teammates in the past month or so, and I don’t want to stop learning,” she explained. “I think the most dangerous thing to be in these situations is ignorant. I always felt in the past that I was never qualified to speak out on such issues, but now I’ve recognized that my silence has hurt so many people.

“The more we speak out and address issues within our nation, the better off we’ll be, and I’m so glad this movement has gained traction after all these years.” She added that she wants to continue to grow and learn from people of color about the injustice they face.

On the pitch, she’s been able to pick up knowledge from a great group of veterans like Jess Fishlock, Allie Long, and Megan Rapinoe. “They’ve all really helped me technically. That was an area of my game that grew a lot last year, as it needed to,” Balcer said. “They helped me settle in and just gave great advice for many different situations on the field. To know the specifics of your position as well as the formation and movement as a whole is crucial at this level and they gave me great knowledge regarding that.”

“I love all the vets. They’ve truly made this team culture special, and they are incredible people off the field and I’m so grateful to call them friends.”

After learning from Rapinoe and Long as a rookie, she was able to follow in their footsteps as she was called up to the USWNT camp in December by her former Reign coach Vlatko Andonovski.

Now, Bethany will get to follow up on her sensational rookie campaign in the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup. “To say I’m excited is an understatement. As a lover of the game, my favorite thing to do is simply play. I think lots of us are like that,” she explained. “We obviously love to train and get better, but suiting up for a game is different and special. To represent OL Reign is an honor. We’ve all worked incredibly hard collectively, and I can’t wait for us to put out a great product on the field.” Balcer and OL Reign kick off their tournament run on June 30th when they take on Sky Blue FC at 7 PM PT.

What’s going on, blog? I hope everyone’s trying their best not to lose their minds and trying to find ways to be productive. It is now Sunday, and it is the end of the “weekend”, although weekends don’t feel much like weekends anymore. Friday was a beautiful day. Temperatures reached up to 70 degrees, and we were able to get onto the field at Marist to throw and run routes. So much nostalgia hit me stepping back onto that field. So many memories filled my head from the past four years just by standing on the field. I still can’t believe I won’t ever have the chance to strap up the pads and helmet for the Redhawks anymore. I remember people telling me that high school would be the fastest four years of my life, and as an incoming freshman, I just brushed those comments to the side. Now as a last semester senior, I realize that they weren’t lying. Anyways, being back on the field running around and catching footballs felt awesome. It was a chance to get away from everything and be in my sanctuary: the football field. As the sun beat down and the sweat dripped down my face and onto the Marist turf, I was home. That night, the air was still relatively warm, and it was a perfect night to sit by the fire. My brother Mike and I tried to start the fire several times, losing the battle with the logs every time. We tried everything from lighter fluid to charcoal, and nothing worked. So, as we kept throwing leaves in the pit to continue the slightest bit of a fire, we sat there and listened to Led Zeppelin and Bruce Springsteen, acting as if it was a cool summer night. Man, do I wish it was summer.

The summer feels ended when I woke up on Saturday morning to 30 degree weather outside. Just another of laying in bed watching Netflix in and sitting in my chair playing guitar all day. These days of sitting inside just drag on, doing the same things over and over again. Hopefully time starts to move a little faster and the days don’t feel as long. I know there’s pretty much no chance we go back to school, so I just hope the summer comes faster. At least Friday was one nice day... #life2020

Sora: Warrior Of The Sea

Halloween Party

(And yes, I know it's a little late.)

Halloween is obviously be Perona's favorite holiday. She gets so excited Zoro thinks there may be like a whole twenty minutes where it's actually endearing instead of annoying.

Then he realizes he's the ones she's recruited to help her decorate every square inch of the lot save the sets themselves. How does one person have so many ghost shaped lights and teddy bear zombies? Where does she even keep them all?

There's a party after they wrap filming and every one, even Law, comes in costume (admittedly the laziest costume you can think of: he's exhausted from working in the script all week, so he grabs a pair of glasses and a doctor's coat and calls it a day.) Luffy convinces Bon Clay to lend him the Sora costume, so he can come as the main character. Ace is dressed as slutty cowboy, maybe? Look, it's definitely slutty is the point. Zoro is wearing a Zorro costume because why not?

Perona and Bon Clay have been working together for MONTHS on their masterpiece. Perona will be the Ghost Princess , complete with crown and scepter. Many hours were spent stitching lace. Many fabrics were dyed pink. The resulting confection comprised at least 40% ruffles and a good 10% illusionist tricks including flash paper and ghosts that glowed and hung off her dress. Bon Clay refuses to tell anyone how he did it.

Zoro gets no break from Halloween at home either because Luffy is like CANDY AND CHAOS THIS IS MY FUCKING HOLIDAY. His apartment is covered in glow in the dark spider webs, skull lights, ghosts, and a cardboard cutout of Garp from his days in the Navy that was used as an official recruitment prop. It is the most terrifying thing Luffy owns and one year they all got really drunk and glued googly eyes to it. Law stumbles into the apartment one night, turns on the light, and fucking screams. Zoro and Luffy think this is hilarious. Law begins plotting his vengence.

Zoro openly teases Luffy because this is literally the first year since he's known him that he hasn't gone as a pirate.

Luffy's all, "oh yeah," and cocks his head to the side, face scrunching up in either concentration or from getting upset. He hadn't realized until Zoro said anything. He'd been watching Ace playfully flirting with Sanji by taking the other boys mask and Luffy thought it would be hilarious if he took Ace's whole costume. He's sure that Shanks would find it hilarious, too (Mihask less so but Luffy didn't really think of him) Plus, as he'd gleefully informed Zoro earlier, if he's Sora that means Zoro is sort of his now, the way Daichi is Sora's. And Torao had made this great face And he hadn't even planned that.

Luffy's weighing all that up, face still all scrunchie and he's even stopped eating while he does it so Zoro assumes he's messed up and made him sad and so quickly points out that Luffy can always come as a pirate tommorow.

Luffy instantly brightens. 'Yeah?" He'd never really considered he could be a pirate any day and not just halloween, but fhen Zoro and Ace play dress up all the time so it makes sense.

Watching Luffy unconsciously shove a pumpkin muffin in his mouth is a relief for Zoro. He gives Luffy a smile that's a bit too mischievous as he taps his forehead affectionately. "Of course. You're the captain, you can do whatever you want." And Luffy looks so excited and laughs so loud at being called captain that Zoro makes sure to use it all night.

(A few times instead of just referring to him as a captain, he'll say MY captain, the way he would in the show. Whenever he does that Luffy finds he has to immediately shove food in his mouth to cover the pleased him he can't keep to himself and his cheeks go all pink. Zoro is utterly oblivious.)

Law loses his shit because Zoro REFUSES to call him captain

Ace only gets it cause it's for the show, Luffy is his best friend and it's an old inside joke. He will not make it a weird sex thing

He'll call Law a god but only when he's on top

Zoro only has like four rules and the others involve swords and booze

I'd assumed this was before they were together and just imagined how confused Zoro would be.

Because of course he calls Luffy that, he's Sora tonight as far as Zoro's concerned.

He doesn't know who Ace is dressed as, but he says it's Captain something and it's actually become second nature for Zoro to call him that. He's occasionally slipped up and called Ace captain when they're not shooting, it's become such a unconscious thing. Ace had of course teased him mercilessly the rest of the day, so when an obviously tipsy Law leans over and taps his shoulder...

"Aren't you forgetting someone, " Law asks with all the innocence of a serial killer.

Zoro ceases his brow and takes a good hard look around the room for another recognizable captain.

After about a minute Law starts getting annoyed, and between that and the alcohol it comes off as him pouting. "Aren't I sort of your captain?" Law pushes, a bit too hurt to be coy. "At the show."

Zoro can see the logic, but he also remembers blushing so hard at Ace's teasing Chopper came over to check on him, seriously concerned for Zoro's health. Zoro likes Ace a lot but he's pretty sure Law is like a 200x smarter. He'd probably make Zoro feel like an idiot and Zoro hates feeling that when he talks to Law.

So he goes on the defensive. He snorts, eyes focused on his beer and not Law who is probably already laughing at him. He probably thinks Zoro is over here acting like a child for playing along with Luffy and now he's trying to get him to say it just so he can get all snide about it like he use to do back when the show started. Zoro had thought they'd been getting along but he guess Trafalgar still must think he's some untalented, brainless hack who is ruining his show. And it makes Zoro's chest burn in an empty way.

"Mihawk and Shanks are our captains. You just like to act like it, that's all." God, Zoro is an absolute asshole. He knows how much the show means to Law. He knows how hard he works, all the little things he does Zoro are sure are well outside his job description but need to happen and make the show as good as it is.

Zoro feels like he's going to be sick. There's no way he could look Law in the eye right that second. What he needs is a moment to get his shit together.

Zoro lifts his beer bottle to his lips and swallows four, fix, six long, deep mouthfuls until he's drained every last drop. It's a cheap way to buy time, but it works out for him; along with stealing an extra handful of seconds where he didn't have to speak and half hide his face behind the bottle, he also got a pleasant rush of warmth that washed through his head.

Yet instead of feeling relaxed or numb, he just feels the full force of what he's said slam into him. There's a weird lightness in his stomach whenever he thinks about Law and now, NOW it's mixed in with this acidic, heavy sense of shame. Fuck.. He's such a stupid asshole. No wonder Law hates him.

The guilt feels a lot like a gut punch, only Zoro's taken plenty of punches and none of them left his insides feeling rotted out and twisted up. He swallows hard, trying to find his voice. The silence is stretching on and he hasn't even looked up at Law.

This is bullshit. Roronoa Zoro may be an idiot and an absolute fuck up but he's no coward. Just say something

So half turning to look towards Law, Zoro forces out a soft, low chuckle and even manages not to choke on the sound. "Not that I don't appreciate your bossiness," he sqy, and there's actual affection there, and yet it sure as hell sounds wrong once he hears the words himself. "Someone needs to keep us on track though. So, maybe your like our bossy navigator."

Shit, this isn't styling it out at all. Zoro grabs his next drink, makes it a sake. He does a repeat performance, swallowing just under half in one go. He just isn't that great at these things. He should approach it more like Ace, right? That had to be the trick.

And maybe it's just thinking like his friend or the alcohol has finally kicked in, because this time when Zoro turns towards Law he can actually look at him, can take him in and not immediately feel the weight of his embarrassing fuck ups.

He can't help a lopsided, small smile when he really notices how terrible Law's costume looks. Because it is pretty terrible, but it suits him. With the dark circles under his eyes and tuffs of hair sticking out (Zoro knows he's caught him napping at his desk a few times over the last week), Law makes a pretty convincing overworked doctor.

And actually, Zoro knows just what Ace would do.

"But really, I guess you're the guy who makes sure everything is working, who keeps us all together one one piece and fixes us up whenever we inevitably fuck up, huh?" Zoro's rather proud of that, because as far as Zoro has seen a lot of what Law does seems to involve bandaging things up and making them better.

Still taking his cues from how he's sure Ace would navigate this situation, Zoro leans in closer (Ace is a lot like Luffy that way, neither seem to understand personal space). Close enough that he can really see the lack of sleep on Law's face, but also the sharp steel in his eyes. Zoro grabs Law's tie, wrapping the rough fabric around his hand a few time, drawing Law a little closer every time. "You're no captain, Trafalgar, you're the sexy young ship's doctor." Zoro makes a show of looking Law over, difficult when he:s pulled the taller boy as close as he has. "Mmm, yep. Fits you perfectly.."

Zoro can't pull off Ace's smile, plus he's thinks maybe the alcohol really is sinking in. He should get something to eat. He feels a bit flushed, a little out of breath even.

Subconsciously licking his lips he slowly let's Law's tie unravel from his hand. He takes one last look before turning, grabbing his still have full sake. "See you later, doc," he calls back, heading off to find either of his captains.

Zoro feels strangely giddy and terribly flushed and isn't sure why. Ace always makes it look so easy

When the executive producers finally do arrive, Shanks has come dressed as a pirate. Luffy steals his "pirate" hat and this becomes Pirate Captain Sora, Warrior Of The Sea.

(I say "pirate" hat because it's actually just strawhat. Everyone is kind of mystified. Surely getting an actual pirate had around halloween would be super easy, why wear this elaborate get up only to cheap out on the hat? But since he's the boss And... Well, weird any way, no one asks.)

(Zoro, however, is not at all surprised. Luffy's well worn pirate costume also features a strawhat, though his is a boy cheaper and torn up. Zoro had asked before, or actually just sort of teased, and Luffy pointed out the point of being pirate is that you can do what you want and did t have to follow rules. So any hat could be a pirate hat. This logic checked out to Zoro, and he's accept it ever since.)

(Mihawk had no plans to dress up but Benn and Shanks ganged up on him. He comes dressed as... Zorro. Because of course.)

Perona: Yeah, but Mihawk makes it look so mysterious and elegant you just look *scrunches up nose, thinking about how to word it* Not cute.

From our last shoot, the studio has decided that we need to undergo sensitivity and harrassment training.

Everyone groans, but whatever. It's not the worst.

Also, does that mean the photo was taken during like the first season's halloween special, the boys got done filming and figured, hey these count as costumes, and then went to the party as Sora and Daichi or is the one we were talking about before the only halloween special (I would put it in season 2 - I base all this on my seasons around the boyz lust to oblivious levels) in which case did they just start making out during the shot one day?! Did Ace just grab Zoro and pull him into a corner to make out? Did he do that before? Like alot? Someone should look into tha- Oh, look, Robin volunteered.

And oh, undoubtedly. I'm just wondering what his position on Sora/Daichi was. Because that's the kind of weird thing I wonder.

Like, I've headcanoned that prior to the show, fans were split between Sora/Brími and Sora/Stealth Black, but in the show fandom, Sora/Daichi pretty much dominates

Robin innocently suggesting they play Power. Everyone puts a date in a hat, whatever date you draw you have to do. If you refuse, you drop out. Last one to complete abdatenafter everyone else is out has absolute power for the next ten minutes.

She figures that even if neither Zoro or Ave draw her particular dates she can still dare them when she wins. Of course, everyone thinks they'll sin. That's kinda the whole draw.

Robin: *As everyone is writing their first one down* We should establish rules of what can not be dared. For instance, nothing illegal.

Usopp: Right. *Pointing at Zoro* And no daring people to fight you.

Zoro: *Glares across the table, but grabs new

Robin did not need to worry.

Ace: *Reading from the paper* Make another player moan *Turna to give Zoro a wicked looking grin*

Zoro: *Cocks his head, honestly confused. He doubts Ace could hurt him so.mucb he'd-*

Ace: *Already dragged Zoro into his lap by his oversized jacket, chuckling at the way Zoro's eyes go wide as he realizes what's happening before getting down to the task*

That hasn't even been Robin's task. Thank God she had the camera ready.

It's the kind of kiss that makes Perona squeal before covering her face (to continue watching through her fingers). Usopp actually can't watch, he just sort of blushes and stares down at his lap. Sanji starts to protest about the woman present not needing to see this filth but doesn't get very far before Ikkaku slaps a hand over his mouth. Excuse me, she is trying to enjoy this. Franky looks impressed until he gets distracted when he notices Robin trying to discreetly take photos. That's when he realizes what a pervert she is and falls a little bit more.

It's the kind of kiss that gets the attention of those not even in the game . Shanks gives a wolf whistle while Mihawk frowns, thinking about all the trouble this could cause if word got out to the press or HR (Benn just slips away to make sure the security tapes don't somehow accidentally get lost... And winds up accidentally losing them in the process). Boa complains about all men being pigs (except her sweet Luffy of course!).

Though to be fair, Luffy is kinda naive about these things. Like, he doesn't understand why he's suddenly so upset, or why he wants to punches Ace in the face.

Meanwhile, Law is in the middle of a conversation with Hiyoru and Jinbe and just stop. Hiyoru asks if he's okay while Jinbe follows his gaze then shakes his head, smiling. He tells Hiyoru not to worry and the turns back to their conversation. Law catches absolutely none of it.
