‼️NIGHTBRINGER LESSON 20 SPOILERS ‼️
for the hard level and bonus parts of the normal level specifically
masterlist | more theories
Tumblr media
did he say this to reassure luke or because he let his guard slip? because this is obviously michael talking and he's not hiding it
he quite literally said "say hi to simeon for me" like they didn't already talk in an earlier lesson
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
we know michael loves luke, and luke loves michael. but this is a different type of controlling. is this guidance or an order masked by guidance?
luke looked up to lucifer and his brothers, he looks up to simeon, he looks up to raphael, and he especially looks up to michael with whatever little knowledge on the celestial war he has
hearing "raphael" say this to him off the cuff and possibly hearing michael say it sometime in the future could sway him to do something he doesn't really want to do
is michael deliberately trying to push luke away from being a seraph to avoid peace between all three realms or is it something else entirely? because i don't think he's doing this out if pure guidance for luke, there has to be something in it for him
that "just think about it" felt like more of a demand that a suggestion. regardless of what luke wants, he's probably not gonna become a seraph if michael is still the most powerful angel by the time he grows up
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so in the og game, is michael still masquerading as raphael? or like is it actually raphael
i admittedly don't remember much about him from the og game, but i don't think this raphael is all that different from the one we saw in lessons 60-80 (pls correct me if i'm wrong, i finished the lessons when they dropped)
raphael doesn't look interested in attending rad at all...not even to see the brothers. i get that time can change people, and that he'd probably have more freedom once he was a more experienced seraph, but who's to say michael didn't do this in the original timeline too? like maybe this is some kinda backwards foreshadowing
or maybe i'm thinking too hard
also
Tumblr media
this contradicts what i said before about him not wanting to see the brothers bc it's obvious that he misses them (mainly lucifer), and that they're still brothers despite the 6 of them being demons now
this is probably why simeon sticks up for him so much, too. raphael is just too prideful to voice how much the fall affected him, how much he actually misses the brothers, and he probably has just as much regret - if not more - that simeon does about the fall
Tumblr media
michael is absolutely nightbringer
i can't explain why but that conniving ass bitch is up to something and i don't like it
he pulled the "brother" card on lucifer, deliberately came down in person disguised as someone else just to threaten to bring war to the devildom if everyone but satan came back to the celestial realm
(idk if this is canon or not but i firmly believe that satan was always a part of lucifer and gets glimpses of his memories from the celestial realm)
the "brother" shit was calculated, too. lucifer asked raphael in person if he'd side with him, and he chose michael without hesitation. regardless of how much he regrets it, lucifer doesn't know that
mammon probably knows about this, too, at least to some extent. that's why he was so against raphael visiting in the first place. he knew lucifer was still beyond fucked up about what happened, regardless of possibly not knowing any of the details
what are michael's motives? because i know he isnt just doing this because he misses the brothers
does he want more power? to be praised for bringing 7 of the most powerful angels back into the light? he's already one of the most powerful angels as is, what else does he want?

cashmere fic!! and we must be killers!!! two for one 💗
the cashmere fic is just some more cashmere pov stuff i wanted to write after i finished my main cashmere fic! i didn't really have a plan for it, which is obvious bc there's only one scene in the doc (cashmere and the other d1 victors hanging out at a victor bar).
we must be killers is my old guard thg au, which i started writing because andy and booker give me the most jaded two victor energy (specifically lyme and brutus energy) and idr why i stopped writing it, but i made lykon andy's mentor, which is a weird choice bc he definitely feels younger than her? i do not remember why i did that at ALL) so i probably won't go back to it without severe revisions. but anyway the premise was andy goes back to mentoring for one last time to mentor nile.
since this is one ask i'm only putting one snippet <3 anyway here's andy and joe in we must be killers in which i use comics lore with wild abandon despite never having read the comics
joe avoids her gaze for a moment, before meeting her eye. “nicky’s mentoring this year, and...”
andy presses her fingers to her temple. “and you're afraid that your tribute will kill his?” she’s not nearly drunk enough for this conversation. honestly, this was the reason she should’ve never taken a tribute this year. there was nothing keeping her semi-sober, not before. booker’s eight years out from his own victory, he can handle himself well the fuck enough by now, and if she didn’t have nile, she’d be drunk enough that she couldn’t feel a thing.
“yes.”
“shit.” there’s a long silence as joe stares down at his own drink in what looks like abject misery. “so, i suppose this isn’t the time to tell you i’m mentoring this year, too?”
he looks at her, his eyebrows furrowed. “but... you said...” he trails off, gesturing vaguely with his hands. she'd told him she was done with mentoring, because, well. she thought she had been.
andy sighs. “listen, i know what i said. but lykon asked me to, so...”
“ah.” joe’s reply tells her enough. he knows, then. knows why she’s done it. he doesn’t blame her for this. he can’t. he knows why. even though his mentor passed a couple years back, from some kind of latent head injury from her games that caused a stroke, he knows. if she was still around and asked him to take a tribute, he would.
joe claimed the crown the first year andy tried to mentor. she’d only been out of the arena for a couple of years, but she’d felt useless just sitting by and watching two’s tributes die, and she’d picked him. achilles — he'd been quarry, like nile and lykon, and she’d had such high hopes for him.
but instead, she'd watched as joe had clawed his way through the arena and grasped the crown with bloody fingers, his scimitar slicing through the other tributes as though they were nothing more than air and dust and not bone and marrow. and there's still something so kind and soft behind his eyes that she can't even hate him for killing her boy. not that she doesn't wish she could.
joe's soft in a way victors aren't meant to be. she's not sure if it's because of nicky or just because of who joe is, but she envies him. she envies the part of him that he got to keep and she had to cauterize off, like a wound gone rotten.
“joe, i’m sorry,” andy murmurs, and she is. she really is.
he smiles at her, the lines around his eyes crinkling. “i know, andy.”
there's a long beat before either of them speaks again.

I Have Been Enabled.
Time to talk about why Henry is Hash Tag Like That.
Tumblr media
This video by the pop culture detective will give you the basis of what we're talking about, but it sorta skirts actually discussing the type of person who would Intentionally go about romancing someone they have so much influence and control over, this is not a critique of the video and Is just a different perspective on the topic.
Now originally this post was going to start with a bunch of coddling, but ima jump right into it and save myself the word count, bc this is already like 1k words.
The underlying personality of a character (cough cough also the writers usually cough cough) who would want to or actively seek to date someone who is completely naive but still physically mature looks a bit like this:
They will be adamant about it not being their fault they are single. nobody will date them because they are too [select all that apply: Weird, Cool, Normal, Busy, Nice, Talented,] or because [select all that apply: Women Are All Enigmas Playing an Elaborate Game With Mens Hearts, Society, Women Only Like Assholes, (other incel talking points here)]
they have a need to feel above their SO, this might look like a savior complex, or it might look like having to always be one or two steps ahead of the SO in everything they do.
They will want to be the center of the SOs world. A normal person would be eager to introduce the newly minted naive SO to as many people as they could, just to help the SO learn how to socialize and to take some of the burden of teaching them off of themselves.
They will have a need to be seen as the Best. they dont want a mature adult partner, they want a golden retriever who looks like a super model. Someone who will worship the ground they walk on, usually because the SO has nothing to compare them too.
If you met a person in real life who acted or thought like this you could be forgiven for assuming they were trying to talk in semaphore with all those red flags they are waving.
The Pygmalion takes this one step further, he didn't just Find a perfectly blank slate woman who would love him no matter what,
he made her.
The Pygmalion is the absolute extreme of this trope. They will go the furthest to avoid ever having to address what makes them unlikable and will often present themselves and their plights as not just no fault of their own, but as the direct fault of another person's, usually a specific past partner.
Henry is the absolute least forgiving depiction of a Pygmalion I could cobble together. and the three muses that came before Adonis are the easiest way to illustrate that.
This next bit ia written using a very specific type of unreliable narrator you often see in these sorts of stories, where the MC's perspective and beliefs tint the word choices. Read carefully.
He blames his first muse's death on her. She shouldn't have taken that tone of voice with him, she shouldn't have lied about who she was talking too, she shouldn't have lied about not loving him anymore, she shouldn't have tried to leave. If she had only listened to him, the more mature and knowledgeable one, he wouldn't have gotten so angry and she would have never chocked on those razors.
His second muse was far better than her, in fact he was damn near Perfect. he was young and unspoiled and willing to listen to and do whatever henry said. He had never been tempted, touched or taught the wrong sort of things. Henry was his everything, his mentor And his lover and the one who kept him off the street. But Henry's traitorous brother stole him away. Said such awful things about how their relationship was disgusting. That henry was a monster for taking in and caring for his muse instead of leaving him to die in the street before he was even old enough to drive.
The third was the worst. She was the one that destroyed henry and made him swear off human love. She had smashed all the sculptures he dedicated to her, all the projects he had finished for her, all her art he had gotten into museums for her under his name. She was ungrateful and horrid. And she had grown disgusting and ugly following the birth of Henry's truest muse. His daughter who this Wretched witch had stolen away following one light bit of discipline. His daughters arm had healed just fine, the witch was just too soft and their daughter was going to grow up just like her if Henry hadn't stepped in.
In all of those examples Henry's wrongdoings were intentionally obfuscated to make him seem like the good guy, to intentionally set someone else up as the villain coming between henry and his happiness. in Pygmalion stories, and in almost all bsy stories, this sort of narrative voice is used unintentionally to make you feel sorry for the Pygmalion and to want to like and side with him despite the reality of the situation. I went for some Very obvious and egregious examples to really show how effective this sort of narrative voice can be. if you want a better written example read Lolita, and then every review that calls it a love story to get a very good picture of how this works and how effective it can be (lolita is psyche horror about pedophilia, not a cute romance,)
tldr:
The Pygmalion and the Born Sexy Yesterday tropes are Rife with squicky elements bc a lot of people who write them do not realize how vile their characters sound if you look at the at any angle other than the the one they want you too
a lot of the time the use of this trope is a Great insight into the minds of the people who use it without really thinking about the implications
both tropes are some incel shit
And Finally Adonis Should Have Beat Henry To Death Sooner.
