The tea cup is set on the saucer. Discreetly, Patrick slides his other hand into his pocket, where the synthetic patch on his palm wraps around his pocket knife– a habit of sorts, since he won his games. His pocket watch sits on the table, next to the saucier and on his lap, Sun has wrapped herself into a ball, her paws disappearing into the mass of orange fur. On the balcony outside his apartment in the Capitol, this is the only place Patrick knows he will be granted a modicum of privacy in the viper’s nest. 

The shadow of the balcony covers the upper half of his body. Sun keeps dozing on his lap, in the sun. 

Most times, when the questions are directed at him, they’re expecting an affirmative. Doesn’t matter if it’s coming from a District person or a Capitolite– they go to him for answers, first and foremost. And in the case of the latter, these questions are not questions so much as veiled demands. 

Ones that he must always accommodate, regardless of the nature of the demand. 

But these questions, this voice, is…well they seem genuinely curious. And the questions they’ve lobbed his way, they don’t seem to be expecting one correct answer.

Sun shifts on his lap. His leg vibrates from her purring. Patrick sighs, leaning back on his chair. “That…quite a lot of thoughts you have going on there, hm?” The knife stays in his pocket as he gently scratches the top of Sun’s head. “I’ll answer your second question first: people will always look out for themselves first. If they don’t think you’re useful, that you can contribute something good to their lives, then you’re dead to them, if they don’t kill you first. Make yourself indispensable to them and they won’t hurt you.” At least that’s what he tells himself– it’s easier to simply assume anyone who approaches him that they want something he can give them. “The younger victors will need someone to guide them anyway.” 

And even the ones who vehemently deny needing someone, anyone. Patience is always key in those instances– from Taiyang whom it took almost six years and his tribute’s sanity to finally approach Patrick to María, who still slaps away any hands offered, friend or foe. Ironically, he had to approach her first.  

“…I suppose I don’t think too much about that. If someone was asking for your help, you would be more caught up in what they’re asking, more than how you were feeling no?” A Trojan horse, he’s lobbed in their direction although he’s quick to revise: “...It scares me sometimes.” He confides, fingers pausing in their administrations on Sun’s head. Actually it scares him, a lot. “They’re…they’re relying on me to guide them to the best outcome and I want the same thing for them. I promise you, I really, truly do.” Whether it’s Hyuk, Devora, a tribute he’s been assigned to mentor, or any of the victors. And sometimes even the furball in his lap and yet– “But I…I can’t always guarantee that. But they still trust me, especially the younger ones.” The tributes from District Three– his tributes, the ones who take his hand, look up at him with wide eyes, clinging to every word, every gesture he makes as it will guarantee their survival. “Sometimes I think it would be better if they exercised more caution with me.”   

A smile, bittersweet, if not actually just bitter, graces his lips. He shakes his head though, chuckling at the next question. “...Forgive me, that’s quite a question you have there. ‘Psychics’... I don’t believe that’s information that just anyone, district or Capitol, can get ahold of–  although I have heard of some old religions still practiced in the districts so I suppose the knowledge and belief in such mediums is possible to get ahold of.” He stares down at his tea, the steam still rising. Even if it is a hypothetical question on a medium known to be more shoddy than reputable, he can’t help but pause. If they could contact those ‘long gone’; would that mean, if he asked them to, would he be able to speak to her one last time–

He shakes his head, eye catching his pocket watch, metal beaten and faded, the clock face wearing a crack down the right side. Still, it shimmers in the sunlight. “Even if I could, I…I highly doubt she would want to talk to me of all people.” If they hadn’t met, if they hadn’t fallen in love, she probably would still be alive. Tellessa’s family too. 

After all, he was the first person outside of Tellessa who knew about her forbidden books. “Wherever they are, it’s probably better than here.” Or at least he hopes it is for her. A place where life doesn’t have to be perfect, but it is…easier. A place for souls to rest at long last. If such a place even exists in the first place. He picks up his saucer once more, still careful not to jostle Sun on his legs. She’s taken to loafing now– he knows her eyes are closed even if her head dips every few seconds. But make no mistake, that does not mean she is unaware. Trusting of the one asking the questions. If it was just him, she would be stretched out, a white underbelly waiting for his hand to scratch kindly at the ceiling.

Perhaps the saying is true after all: like owner, like pet. Although Patrick would argue she’s more like Hyuk if anything.

“It depends on the circumstances,” he says as neutrally as possible. A vague answer for a hypothetical question, because that is truly it. “I suppose if one’s life was on the line, it would be better if they followed my lead, no?” 

Not that that’s stopped, those with rebellious tendencies from committing treason anyways. ( And unfortunately, he can name more than one. ) It is ironic in that manner– for someone who knows the system, knows how to work within the rules all, has spent years perfecting his craft in survival arts, it would make more sense to invest on those with similar goals. And yet here he is, worrying about the ones who are decided not interested in survival and therefore would spurn his advice at any given moments. “Not that…that following my advice has ever helped them make it through.” 

(His tributes. All thirty nine of them. No two games are ever the same, the gamemakers would never allow that. If the circus known as the Hungers Games must be reborn over and over again if it wishes to continue.)

He takes a sip of his tea, washing down the momentary displeasure. Or at least he thinks it will be only a moment long. “I suppose what a Capitol citizen would consider a ‘mundane issue’, as you put it, would differ from those of someone from the districts. The former does seem more inclined towards complaining if only to build comradery amongst one another. I’m just glad that they have such means to…channel their frustrations.” 

( It’s in times like those, where he wishes his temper could curdle, the way Devora’s does in the face of the Capitol Elite. How he wishes he could simply let her use the knife to silence those idle complaints. )

Patrick takes another sip of his tea. It burns in his throat. It’s bitter too– he must have let the leaves seep for too long. But the asperity doesn’t just settle on his tongue. “Are we talking about an ideal world or the one we live in now? Depending on who you ask this question to, you’re guaranteed to get quite…different answers.” A smile, as frigid as the shaved ice the Capitol serves as a delicacy during the games, crosses his lips. “Our great nation was built to provide safety and prosperity for the children. To serve them. Although whether the truth is actually the other way around will again, depend on who you ask. As a mentor to my tributes, I suppose…we can’t deny the reality in front of us, no?”

Sun yawns. He puts his tea down and idly, he scratches the underside of her chin and he feels her purring against his finger. “Are you sure you should be asking me that question? I would think there are more…suitable candidates for this question.” People like Hyuk, he means. People like María– the kinds who would gladly make sacrifices, give pieces of themselves for a cause. “Self-sacrifice won’t get you where you need to be– there’s a reason martyrs are only known after their death– they’re even given a chance to be known. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool. They’re only deluding themselves into believing they can make everything better. A…colleague of mine said it best: ‘a martyr works, a survivor works better’. If you want to truly help the ones around you, self-sacrifice will only get you so far.”

Or so Patrick claims. He can hear it though– the sound of Hyuk shouting at him to stop lying. The truth is, self-sacrifice, if it is for a tangible reason, is…well maybe it is not worthwhile, but it can be certainly respected, especially if this tangible reason is a human life. The Capitol will always wonder what spurred Patrick to hold his district partner’s hand even if it burned a hole through his skin, will always wonder why Taiyang insisted on protecting Link in the arena, will always wonder why, why, why would Devora so willingly serve as President Snow’s puppet even if it further severs her ties to the districts despite everything the games took from her.

They would never understand compassion in a dog-eat-dog world– self sacrifice.

“...However, I suppose, if there was truly a good reason to do so…well, I have yet to see it.”

( Like the promise of a better world. If there is even one that exists. )

His hand stops. Sun turns her head towards him, copper eyes watching him. “When do we not hurt the ones we love?” Perhaps the better question for him is: when is he not hurting the ones he loves? He saw it in her eyes and Hyuk’s too. And yet they forgave him, somehow, every time. If not for that, well…would there even be a reason to keep going? “That’s part of caring for someone, no? You are preparing for them to hurt you without retaliation.” He shakes his head, snorting. “I think the answer should be obvious, if it guarantees their well-being in the long run, I think that is a gamble to be considered. That being said–” 

Sun jumps off his lap and stretches, paws facing this curious passerby. Patrick crosses his legs, hands resting on his lap. A veneer, similar to the one he dons in the Capitol flashes through, even if he is not currently in his usual suit. “You wouldn’t want to be close with someone like me. I’ve been known to have…a reputation of sorts. One of burning and you could…no, you would most definitely get hurt, one way or another and we wouldn’t want that happening, no? Just a thought for you to consider.”

He watches Sun make her way to the sliding glass door in the shade. Her tails whips side to side as she looks up at the handle. Then she looks at him and meows. 

Patrick glances at his pocket watch. “It’s feeding time for Sun.” Well, sort of– it’s more like it’s half an hour before her feeding time, but he knows gets antsy the closer meal time gets around. But this person doesn’t have to know that. “If you’ll excuse me, I’ll be taking care of business now. If you need anything more, you know where to find me.”

Or better yet, he’ll know where to find them.

The Order as a large entity is her most prominent connection, I won't go into much detail because it's just... her position in it is central aspect to her story, so I'd just be spouting wildly if I went into it again here~ BUT I NEED TO MENTION @theimpalpable 's Nae-Gil (fellow knight!!!!!!!!!!!!!) because he's fucking everything to me, they haven't gotten to interact, to establish a dynamic but he means so much to me and I love Alex so much

Sköll/Jeon Hui & Jeon San Her brothers, one you might recognise as another muse of mine, the other is her late older brother; they were a situation of Three, San was a bit older than Hui & Sarang, while Sarang was perhaps only one, two years older than Hui. San was the one she felt she could rely on in terms of a sturdy, present male figure in her life and formative years, even though he was a teenager when she was a child, he still gave her more sense of worth, of being deserving of respect than she could have asked of her parents. She looked up to him, and while she had a propensity for trying to escape the role society demanded of her in lieu of being a yangban woman, she'd actually try to 'play the part' for him, to facilitate his existence as the oldest. She was much more... content, for lack of better terms, in living that womanhood at the time, because even though San's ideals weren't too progressive (as in, he was the type to say 'it is what it is') and since child her had trusted him to want what's best for her, if he thinks perhaps it's best to play along to make sure she can stay safe and live well, she'd felt it easier to go along with it. Hui, on the other hand, was her baby. As someone with the inability to feel pain, Hui had always been a terribly accident-prone child, so he was coddled by the family, Sarang included. She felt protective of him, and since he couldn't be treated like any regular yangban son since he was a mess and couldn't be left alone according to the Jeon's, even as adults they spent most of their time with each other, she as the daughter who'd have to wait to be married, and he as the hopeless youngest. She learned a sense of belonging through him, responsibility, cameraderie. Partners in crime, sneaky siblings with a knack for lying. Her brothers were everything to her and she misses them dearly.

Black Knight/Shin Myungdae (YOU ♥) NOW I do NOT in the SLIGHTEST demand this is an actual connection, but I do need to say that meeting Myungdae has added something to Sarang's character that I couldn't have found without you. Writing her as a femme fatale was 'easy' enough with the setups I already had, but having her face off against a mysterious man with a righteous cause and so much baggage to carry around, especially as the Black Knight before getting to meet him as Myungdae on that bench? Meeting the Black Knight evoked in her this potential of... I can't quite explain it. She's an assassin, a con-artist, but that chess game against Myungdae put her in a new light for me? She seems much more fleshed out, all of a sudden, with deeper motivations, with expressions of sorrow that make me think so much more about her. His class, the way he moves, the way he handles himself, if she ever were to stumble into anything that would reveal that he's an outlaw for good reasons, there's something about getting to figure out how she reacts to Myungdae and Black Knight that is revealing something hidden deep within her. A sense of justice she can't allow herself the luxury of having, the longing of being more than a pawn not just for freedom but also because maybe she wants to be part of something bigger, something good. Maybe she wants to use her skills and fight on the right side for once. It's a very dormant thought, she can't afford looking at it and feel all the frustration that comes with not having the option to follow this path. But even beyond what I'm discovering of her, I just truly love that I get to sneak Sarang a little bit into this verse, THROUGH NELL TOO. Because it's?? It's so very HUGE, it's so incredibly well-written and developed, having any of my muses interact with it makes ME feel like I'm part of something bigger. She truly spends a lot of time thinking about Black Knight, wondering about him, what his deal is, she can't figure him out, but she'd like to.

Nell Jones (@ofgentleresolve tagging even tho it's u so i can Promo™) SAME THING here, not demanding an actual connection, you simply write such amazing characters that they INSTANTLY impact mine; Nell is dragging Sarang through the gutter for the sole reason that, even in those few replies I wrote you, she's forgetting herself. Nell has such an incredible presence, energy when Sarang gets to interact with her, that she has to constantly remind herself of the act she's putting up. It's so easy to get lost in Nell's smiles and awkward demeanour that Sarang constantly analysing it is written out on purpose to underline how hyperfocused she's forcing herself to be, to avoid slipping up and forgetting that she isn't who she's claiming to be, that she can't be allowed to be who she was before Sarang. It doesn't happen often that Sarang will forget... about Sarang. But something about Nell makes her want to. I'M NOT trying to push for anything either, this doesn't have to mean anything, it's just the effect Nell has on her~

Calixtus Orion (@uroborosymphony Lynnie ma chère~) Calista, oh god, Calista, CALISTA!! Have I mentioned -clears throat- -starry eyes- Calista? Lynnie has irreversibly blessed me by allowing me to create a connection to her Calista, this plot, this connection, the dynamic, the fact that I'm obsessed with Calista, everything here is so deep and fucking amazing, I truly lack the words to be able to describe them. She's blessed me with a catalyst, nonetheless. A desire beyond her understandable desire for freedom. Sarang sees in Calista righteous anger, even though she's not kind, even though she's a powerful bloodthirsty unhinged mass murderer and war criminal, Calista is the first in a near endless plethora of encounters to make Sarang feel something, to make Sarang feel human in her inhumanity, make her fear for her life, make her reach for something deep within herself that she does acknowledge but not allow as much outlet as she thinks she does. Yes, Sarang is angry, yes she knows she deserves better, but even that instinct has begun mellowing out, numbing with time. The Sarang we meet today is much more... alive than the Sarang prior to meeting Calista. Sarang had set out to free herself and then nearly lost herself in the drag of routine carried on for centuries. Then, Calista came, powerful, angry, beautiful, and Sarang can't get her out of her head. She's the reason Sarang's fire burns again and no matter who she's with or what she does, she can only bite as fiercely and snarl this powerfully because Calista reinvigorated it within her.

Nakamura Suki (@kamipyre Ferre?? OMG Ferre~ it's you~ ♥) Another God-Tier character design that impacted Sarang two seconds after meeting her. It's violently implied, but did you know that Sarang doesn't have friends? That Sarang never had female friends? That Sarang never got to experience the epic highs and lows of casual friendships? Suki is violently important to her as a character because she's... well, to be honest, simply because of her personality, how she presents herself. Suki drags a part of Sarang out of her that hasn't existed since... before her death? Youthful Sarang, a Sarang who liked to play harmless pranks on San and gang up on him with Hui, who'd get scolded for getting dirty in the internal gardens, who's always been bad-ish at singing but enjoyed doing it in secret just because she was told it was a ginseng thing to do and a yangban lady should not favour the arts (she doesn't, but yknow). Suki makes her... young, energetic. Like she might be allowed to have fun.

Lee Hyuk (@jeoseungsaja ALEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Here is where Sarang truly gets to shine as the brat she's secretly capable of being. This connection, minute as it may be, AND OBVIOUSLY doesn't have to be official, he simply has impacted her, sticks to my brain like Glue™. Not only because I'm a huge hyurick fan and the idea that I get to interact with both involved parties in this very painful Black Knight verse via the same character, meaning Sarang has met both figures in this fantastic ship that has me glance through the window at you guys just sort of choking on how amazing y'all are, but Hyuk as a whole is completely unlike any personality type Sarang makes herself actively interact with over and over again. She puts up a lot of acts, but when it comes down to it, some just... tire her out. If she were forced to butt heads with Hyuk, she'd probably grow tired of it pretty fast. Truth is, though, she doesn't have to. She just likes messing with him. He's an interesting fella with the most stubbornly kept frown in the entire world, poking and prodding at him to see what might make him burst is fun. Going up to him to mess with his day is like... going to the beach on a day off. It's relaxing and fun. I'm so sorry Hyuk.

Amelia Sinclair (@astremourante Ami I lub you SO SO SO SO SO MUCH) Amelia is... -lies down on the floor- how will I ever be able to explain my feelings for her. Sarang and Amelia are... they're not exactly alike, but they have quite a few things in common that makes it violently interesting to see them face each other. The coping mechanisms, the being made into a weapon, the lack of female agency, the lack of escape, the using charm and physical promises to further goals, the violence. At the same time, though, their backgrounds are very different. Amelia did not have a SINGLE GOOD DAY in her childhood GODDAMMIT AMI; Sarang had been forced into fulfilling Womanhood in a way demanded of her during Joseon but she's never been... abused. Perhaps made to feel slightly lesser, or scolded with cold detachment, but she had a support group nonetheless, she had her older brother as pseudo-father figure, her pain starts when she's effectively an adult. Their trauma is violently different and as such, it impacts them differently, too. So, while they use similar social and actual weapons to fulfil the roles imposed on them, there's no actual guarantee that they'd understand each other as well as Sarang feels they might. There's chemistry here, if I may say that~ but there's also a fundamental misunderstanding on Sarang's part that she's figured Amelia out, or partly at least, that they're very much alike, that now she's just got to figure out who's going to win this game. She underestimates not Amelia herself, but the pain she went through, effectively fooled by how much work Amelia puts into not letting anyone see it. This makes this connection so very fking interesting because Sarang could learn something here, and also because I can't WAIT to see what Amelia's reactions to all this will be, I am obsessed with that woman oh god.

CYAN MY DEAR ♡ you asked for questions so here I am, sending them as separate asks :’D As always feel free to answer them with as much or as little detail as you want- you’re also more than welcome to skip any if all if you would like!!

What are some traits he finds attractive ( not necessarily in a romantic sense, more like a general ‘oh this person is cool’ kind of like ) in other people? How about some traits that he finds repulsive?

As someone who is branded as the “black sheep” in his family and doesn’t often fit in with others outside of it either, he is drawn to people who are outcasts in similar ways too. Those who don’t conform, who are difficult to get along with, who offend by personality, manners, or looks — intentionally or not. Ray feels a vague, innate sense of fellowship with people like that. 

Whether he realizes it or not, he also finds traits compelling which he lacks. People who are calm, introspective, and possess a grounding presence counterbalance his reckless and impulsive nature. People who are openly kind, remind him of his mother. In a similar vein, he has a like for aloofness and pessimism. It’s not necessarily attractive to him in the sense he finds it admirable, but these dispositions imbue him with the need to challenge and tease. He wants to leave a mark on such individuals. To put it plainly, he feels attracted to opposites.

Traits he doesn’t like at all are dishonesty, dispassion, and cruelty. The latter of which is especially abhorrent to him. While he's no saint himself, struggling with anger issues as he does, he dislikes to see cruelty in other people. It reflects a part of him he knows is there, but one he struggles against. Something that separates him from his mother and brings him so much closer to his father. That’s why subconsciously he seeks people who inspire him to do better.

   Wide steely eyes rove over the excrutiatingly detailed paper set, hands hovering like he’ll break one if he deigns to touch a single fold. It’s too beautiful to touch! It belongs in a gallery!! I love how interactive rp is!! It’s one of the reasons I’ve come to love writing so much, have stuck with it, and chose to pursue it as a career option. When I was studying creative writing, one thing that struck out to me was how often ppl said that writing was a lonely pursuit and that?? actually blew my mind bc writing through rp was not that at all!! Of course, this might be a unique way of getting into writing, but rp is one of my beloved hobbies bc it allows me to explore stories & characters not just by myself but also with others!! And I get to be exposed to other writers and their stories as well <3

Hi cyan, thank u for enabling me and letting me be salty for a hot second….i have a lot, but here’s one that applies specifically here: when people misspell my muses’ names. Like I understand it happening once or twice, but when it's consistent, i am just :| this is a writing activity, which requires reading. I make a point to use my characters names at least once in a reply so that my partners have a reference to go off of on how to spell their names. So when they misspell say, calum’s name or even his child’s name ( sol’s old name- the number of times different people kept on writing ‘ezra’ even though I literally had the correct spelling in my reply is unreal ), i get really turned off :/

word of advice, hyuk! you should take your shirt off around patrick more often- it really gets his heart pumping if you know what i mean 😊 ( i have a job so that it keeps me from embarrassing hyurick on the daily JFKSLDJFKLSDJ but also feel free to skip this if it doesn't sit right with you alex!! )

    Advice shared catches him off-guard. Here he is, thinking that guidance was going to be about the usual: ‘you should smile more’, ‘you should take a break’, ‘you should wear colorful clothes sometime, you’ll look less gloomy’, ‘you should wipe that scowl off your face, at least for a few minutes’ --- the list goes on and on; suggestions he never follows just because others say so. But no, this isn’t about the sourness of his face or the choices he makes in clothes; this isn’t about his attitude or restlessness. This is about...Patrick? 

    “What?” 

    He heard them, alright. He’s just delaying his answer by vaguely acting like he didn’t catch the whole swing. It’s a good thing he hadn’t taken a sip of his sweet iced Americano yet, otherwise he would’ve been coughing and spluttering all over the place. 

    Taking his shirt off. Why? Patrick has seen him like that before, hasn’t he? More than once, since that’s the way Hyuk sleeps: shirtless. Actually, the last time his dear friend saw him without clothes on his torso was when he ----- wait a minute. 

    When Patrick stayed for a week for work purposes.     When he choked on his tea and kept looking down.     When Hyuk...kissed him on the cheek. 

    Was that the reason why Patrick initially refused to look at him? The reason behind warm cheeks and stutter; bashfulness and the need for him to run and attempt to make breakfast? Because Hyuk didn’t have any clothes on from the waist up? 

      He unconsciously begins to gnaw on his bottom lip.        ‘It really gets his heart pumping, if you know what I mean’.       Does that mean Patrick likes...what rests under his shirt?        The way he’s built? Is he attracted to this?        If so, does Patrick know Hyuk’s attracted to him, too?        Maybe he’s been able to tell --- his best friend’s undeniably observant.

      The detective’s starting to remember the moment he accidentally hit his head when rearranging his brushes; how his heart started beating wildly against his chest just by looking at Patrick unfolding and buttoning his sleeves. Moves that used to be nothing now are more than something. He remembers, too, how Patrick’s hand smoothly caught his own; how he squeezed and wouldn’t let it go (thankfully, because he adores feeling his touch, no matter where it might land). 

     Eyes blankly stare at the swirls of cream that are still waiting to disappear under layers of coffee. What if this was revealed during that time? Confessed, that Patrick likes the sight of him shirtless? That the view gets his heart pumping? What if instead of keeping his hand there, hovering on air, he used it to lead Patrick’s palm under his shirt? So he could know what patterns Patrick would draw on his skin, so he could feel his caress --- would it be as careful and gentle as it usually is, or---

      Oh, God. Cheeks threaten to get warm; he starts to feel a little hot under that turtleneck and jacket of his. He shouldn’t think about this at all; Hyuk wanting to scold his own head for being this audacious with its thoughts. Besides, it’s not like...it could ever happen. Why would it? It’s too bold of a notion, isn’t it? Even if it’s somewhat noticeable that something else seems to be stirring besides their long-lasting friendship, he just...well, he doesn’t want to jump into swift conclusions or assume.

     He snaps out of it.      Or tries to. 

   “What is that kind of advice, huh? Why would he---how do you even know this?” 

   Now he has the sudden urge to add more ice cubes to his coffee. 

    “Word of advice for you: mind your own business, leave me alone--”

1. where did you get your idea for them?

i got the idea for Jude during my Marvel hyper-fixation summer. that was also around the same time i read A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi, i believe? and i just got very frustrated with how bad representation is for muslim women. and i was like...you know what? i'm gonna make my own representation. and it was particularly easy for be inspired for Jude at the time bc it was Ramadan and i was drowning in the muslim vibes, fasting and praying more than usual and all that. i remember it took me a long time to figure out what my muslim superhero's power would be. i don't know how i landed on Alien Blob Friend Who Gives You Super-strength and Endurance. but what i do remember is coming up with Jude's family. she needed to have some sort of family drama (bc which of my muses don't?), but i didn't want to play into the conservative/misogynistic/abusive muslim dad trope. i honestly would have rather DIED than gone with that, so i decided to do the opposite: toxic mom. and i started building from there.

Adonis, like Zoran, was a product of his time. i believe it was 15yo me who started RPing Althea on tumblr and then decided to make a "genderbent" verse for her, and the result was Adonis. @iincantatorum helped me massively with his creation proccess, actually!!! and just like with Zoran, Adonis became his own person. i was in the proccess of doing my SATs and deciding what college i wanted to go to and all that stuff, so my arab dad's expectations (he wanted me to study medicine) bled right into Adonis' character, making him who he is today.

11. what’s something that you don’t get to express with your oc often?

with Jude, I don't really get to express her religious side often. i guess some people may feel that her religious side is expressed well enough bc she's a hijabi, but...that's not really an all-encompassing aspect of religion? i don't get to write Jude much, and when i do, it's usually her superhero side. i don't get to express everyday Jude, trying to find somewhere quiet to pray in uni, trying to tie her hair in several directions at home bc the roots have been locked in one way under her scarf all day. i don't get to write the Jude that talks about her mom or sings arabic songs under her breath while doing the dishes. i don't get to write the Jude that helps her father read an english children's book and playfully insults her brother in passing. i guess i just really want to write domestic Jude.

as for Adonis, i feel like i don't get to express his reliable side much. sure, he's fragile as glass and very emotional and lets people use him as a doormat, but he's actually... like, dude, he's a grown adult man. he's great with his patients at the hospital, he's a lovely and reliable coworker, he can cook and take care of other people. that's the side Pearl brings out in him in verse 2. when he's alone, he doesn't really bother to take care of himself. but when his daughter is there, he has to cook every day and spend time relaxing with her and playing some games and just-- doing things that are good for the soul and taking care of a whole human child. in most threads, Adonis is this helpless man-child that everybody loves bc he's nice and soft and horny, but he's so much more than that

RP PET PEEVES?: admittedly, a lot :'D but moving blogs has helped with getting away from constantly encountering these pet peeves :D if i have to name one then recently i've been getting turned off by ppl who are always their soapboxes lecturing about rp. they talk about how rp should be and how people should interact with one another, but most of the time? i hardly see them practice what they preach. if you want quality partners, you have to be one first- that's how you find ur people :/ also excessive, consistent saltiness- i get uncomfortable.

FLUFF, ANGST, OR SMUT?: i don't really care, just as long as there's character/relationship development going on. that being said- if you want pain that will make u yell at me in the dms, hit me up ♡ ( i have references :DD )

secondly, now that that's been established, len if there is an ask that ever enabled me, it is most definitely this one MY GOD ARE WE SURE WE WANT TO LET ME GO DOWN THIS PATH?? anyone who has followed me on my multimuse for at least a month knows i have brainrot for this individual, i did not make the rules, literally when i added him to my blog back in september 2021 ( bruh....time flies :'D ), he grabbed me by the throat and said 'write me or don't try at all' and i had to surrender...i don't think having hyurick helped matters either JFKLSDJFLKSDJF :'D

okay but to get to the meat of ur question, honestly i've been DYING to write patrick in his THG verse ( with a few revisions- haven't had the energy to write anything long form these last few weeks :'D ) espeically since the new THG movie came out ( again yeah i guess the actor playing snow is conventionally good looking but MORE IMPORTANTLY i can't wait to see blonde pretty boy snow get ass kicked in FJKLSDJFKL :'D ), so anything in that verse would be AMAZING...granted it is my fault for not having threads there quite yet just because i've been trying to make a dent in drafts across all three of my blogs since there are some that have been in there for like, months >.< and of course i know that i can take my time, but I PERSONALLY don't like it when i have too many drafts piled up.....so 4 rn i'm trying to a, get thru myungdae's drafts and b, answer plotting messages :'D but once i do that!!! i'm hoping to maybe put out a starter call ( but do u want a starter 4 marìa....i can rite it...4 free :D )

okay but back to ur question along with what we have plotted for patrick & marìa, i actually would?? love to have a thread where i get to explore patrick either during the hunger games week after felicity passed ( bc i also made....revisions to how she died....and how his breakdown went, i can spoil both here- basically the peacekeepers found out she was a rebel and so instead of starting a fire at her workplace, they set her house on fire so she burned to death alongside her family...patrick was forced to watch bc the peacekeepers wouldn't let them escape or let him go inside to save her- and thus when he got back from the 64th hunger games he tried to set his own house on fire....i'm not saying that it was probably a good idea not to leave him alone during that time, but i am absolutely saying, it was probably a good idea not to leave him alone there :/ ). ANYWAYS ENOUGH WITH THE TANGENTS- i'd love to write him during that period and just to see how he manages to find stability/a new norm during the worst(tm) period of his life and how that influences the person he becomes by the time the rebellion starts up....other things though- i did actually want to have like interactions regarding the fact that he smokes ( a lot ) in this verse or that he takes long showers/baths a lot in order to cope they probably do both seem?? innocuous at first glance...i do also have a meta i wanna type out on how his connection to fire in this verse changes in comparison to the other two verses too!

as for the other verses, ironically for all the brainrot i have, i actually am quite?? satisfied with what i have ( thanks to you and our lovely writing partners <3 ) as i never expected?? him to have enough development and connections that it would allow him to have his own blog and while i am ALWAYS open for new connections i think at this point, it more of a matter of seeing how the connections and threads he currently has unfolds rather than starting up more new things :'D

AN EXCELLENT QUESTION AS WELL HERE :3 i would say when i make new verses for patrick, i do try keep the essential elements ( ie. being an orphan, felicity and her death, and the motif of fire ) within every verse i make for him as?? these elements of his past really contribute the person he is in the present moment and so without these elements, i just don't?? don't know how different he could be without it still being him it would ring true to him :/ or at least I would feel like i'm writing someone else and not patrick. that being said, i do think part of the reason i do this so far is because at least with verse one and two, well verse two is a derivative of verse one so while patrick and myungdae are vastly different individuals, their base ( ie. their history ) is ultimately the same?? they both more or less have the same core values, which is why i can still write them both and consider them the same 'person' even if their personalities & demeanors are vastly different. in the case of verse three, determining his backstory wasn't so much of creating so much as figuring what his backstory would look like in the thg universe... i guess this is all to say that as long as the base is familiar to me, i am more than willing to write different takes of him- tldr; i think it might be the first option but i might change aspects of those key elements if necessary

THAT BEING SAID, however, i did??? have a sorta supernatural au for him that recently just got spontaneous development bc i was rewatching fr*uits basket but dubbed this time....but the thing is that some of the basic characteristics of his initial character would have to be different here- that and the fact that patrick ( myungdae here ) would be confined to a very isolated location and would be unwillingly to come out if ever for a lot of his arc so i'm not quite sure how well it would do as its own verse....it's kinda based on the sohma curse and the cat's room ( and bc you're probably reading this too, alex dont look these up on wiki if you plan on watching fru*its basket bc this is major spoilers!! )- i can go more in detail about this though if you would like though!!

for all the technology that is required in suki's line of work, she isn't actually all that much of a fan of using technology when a paper medium is possible ( although is this really surprising tho?? ). anyways!! this means that suki prefers using pen and paper to sending emails and definitely prefers a sketchbook & arcylics as her medium of art.

15. What do you look for in a rp partner?

i used to have a more specific criteria, but these days, it's been more of a holistic overview if that makes any sense?? like the basics is that there's a focus on character development first and that there is actually writing/threads happening on the blog often enough.

where it gets a bit more murky is just...vibes? like you know when you look at someone's blog and just based on their ooc posts or even how they write their rules page, you can get a sense of how they communicate and usually, i'm able to decide from this way if this is someone i would want to interact with. if they seem overall negative and/or needy ( constantly looking for validation ) i don't follow because that just annoys me more than anything else ://

also attentiveness/initiative! how much are they paying attention to their partner's muse & do they incorporate the other muse into their thread or is it just about their own muse? and in plotting do they contribute and ask questions or are they making their partner do all the work?

typically i don't follow blogs based on graphics so much as writing that being said, my eyes ALWAYS go 👀👀👀 whenever @uroborosymphony make edits...her aesthetics are always so tightly woven together and really , really portrays how all of these verses are, rather than separate timelines, but are actually connected ( somewhat ) by a single thread. we actually talked about it once that while aesthetics shouldn't necessarily be carrying the bulk of a blog, they ARE secondary character building....especially for single muse blogs, it's an opportunity to showcase the vibes of the muse if they were to have their own blog ( but in a less meta version i would say if they had a room they could decorate however they want, what would be in there?? ). it's not necessary per say but i always ADORE seeing different kinds of aesthetics as well, if this is a text-based activity, then visuals are 1000 words all at once, correct?

that being said, even though lynnie's blog is technically a multimuse in that there are multiple versions of her muse featured depending on the verse ( lmao i took inspo for that with patrick's blog ), she still manages?? to make each version unique and aesthetics definitely plays a role in that me thinks....but if this is going to be a recommendation let me leave it off with this- go follow lynnie, she's got AMAZING characters and detailed backstories and her plotting skills- out of this world. insanely good, holy cr*ap all the plots we have has me salivating and hungry to write them all out 🥲

hmmmmm, i don't usually follow new blogs and typically try to keep my dash as clean as possible, however i will say @ncrthernattitude has a muse that i don't see very often in the rpc so i'm intrigued to get to know cin more. that and also i do admire the mun's attitude on dash as they're quite upfront. it's refreshing to see.
