"If you love and cherish our green boy you are welcome to this garden as a flower, plant or lurking gardener, please make sure not to trample any plants and water them with reblogs, notes, comments, asks, and replies to keep them healthy." (context)
In appreciation of the approaching spring, here some tips for cut flowers:
Cut ~2 inches off from the base of the stem, at an angle
Personally, I like to strip all the leaves off each flower. Benefits include: reduces mold growth, allows the nutrients to focus on the flower itself instead of going to the leaves resulting in longer flower life, and reduces the weight, resulting in less droopy flowers (especially for things like tulips)
Add 1/3 a cup of soda (any kind of regular soda) because they love the sugar
Add 1/4 a teaspoon of bleach to prevent mold (no, surprisingly, adding bleach does not kill the flowers)
If you Absolutely Need the flowers to last in perfect condition for a few days, refrigerating them is your best bet.
The more bulbous the flower, the more water content, the more likely the mold growth. Think sunflowers, peonies, ranunculus, and roses. Personally, I avoid them for this reason, but it’s personal preference.
If you live in area with cold winters, avoid buying roses for Valentine’s Day unless they are your recipients favorite. In these areas, roses bloom “naturally” in the summer, and I’ve found the roses that were “forced to bloom early” (for lack of better phrasing) for Valentine’s Day to be of much poorer quality.
Carnations, in my experience, last the longest. By a long shot.
Beautiful Person Award. Once you are given this award, you're supposed to paste it in the ask of people who deserve it. If you break the chain, nothing happens, but it's sweet to know someone thinks you're beautiful inside and out!

Irises - hmmmm this is tricky because I'm someone who tends to hold their cards quite close. I guess the easiest answer is my mum but the truth is probably just myself
Common Boneset - University!! I start my illustration degree in September and I cannot wait. I'm counting down the days 😅
Lilies - my best friend was a girl in my class throughout all of primary school. I say best friend but in reality she was my only friend. I absolutely adored her and it was a kind of co-dependent relationship. We became friends when we were 6 and stayed (sort of) friends until we were 16. We went to separate high schools when we were 11 which really drove a wedge between us. We also had several major arguments which pushed us further apart. Last I heard she was dating, and living with, one of the guys who bullied me in high school so... 😂
