EULA — 优菈
now while eula would normally abhor at the foul language and insults that so easily spew from your precious lips, she actually can’t help but be oddly bemused.
i mean her expectations for linguistics are awfully high, one mustn’t speak with little eloquence but your brashness was oddly…charming, and refreshing in a way. you weren’t afraid to offend people, and simply enjoyed the motto of “i won’t apologise for what i said, i’ll apologise for how it made you feel.”
eula is of course someone who’s treated like the poster-woman for the concept of rudeness given her past and current feigned ego, so honestly you sort of make her feel better about herself — not in a negative way, in the way that she just simply doesn’t feel that lonely anymore.
if anyone has so much as a word to speak against you due to something you’ve said, they can speak to her first. the entirety of teyvat is allowed to shudder if she so much as so breathes, but when it comes to you? vengeance will be severed with a side of wine.
XIAO — 魈
stop. please. xiao is already overwhelmed enough by the varieties of his duties, all his patrolling — and now he has to make sure his lover isn’t in an argument with someone or being threatened to literal death.
he frankly doesn’t really care about the way you speak, sure it’s surprising at first since the majority of people in liyue hold themselves in a way that seems a bit more…calm, but then again sometimes that within itself can be seen as a rude attempt at pacification of genuine feelings.
you’ve never been mean or rude to him, directly at least, so he literally doesn’t care how brutal or venomous your words are, so long as you don’t get yourself in too much trouble. people haven’t seen the yaksha so an edge whenever a person opens their mouth since, well, ever.
he’s never brought up your attitude or personality; he loves you wholly, even if some parts of you are a bit more prickly than rosy.
THOMA — 托马
“haha, they were just joking!” you ticked off another five on your little notepad with a careful swoosh of your pen.
thoma has had to repeat that very phrase so much to the point you’ve been keeping a safe tally on a notepad of whenever he says it. to be honest, you don’t even believe five can be multiplied this many times…
your rudeness and foul language comes as an innate package, and thoma has no problem in neatly tying that package up with a little bow to placate whoever you managed to horribly offend that day. you fear that one day, if thoma isn’t there, you’ll find yourself being interrogated by kujo sara, maybe in a more lucky scenario heizou, herself.

RAIDEN EI — 影
if not directed to herself directly, she finds you absolutely amusing. she literally cannot be a spokesperson against rudeness after her uhum many self-made and self-fulfilled tragedies, plus she herself can be rather verbally off putting therefore, she has little problems with how you address others.
she does, however, keep a very keen eye on you to make sure you don’t stir up trouble with the wrong crowd.
but, hey! the great thing about dating a highly revered archon is the fact literally no-one will speak out against you.
“[name] told me to kill myself when i said hi in the morning…” and guess what? all of a sudden they have a long voyage to the fiery volcanoes of natlan planned out. criticism is only allowed if it’s aimed at her, not you — you’re basically an extension of her, if anyone so much so demeans you because of your attitude, it’s almost like they’re disrespecting the electro archon herself.
that’s a crime the citizens of inazuma have long learned the lesson of.
FURINA — 芙宁娜
she loves you purely for the theatrics and dramatics you always managed to find yourself in. it always seems like drama follows you wherever you simply step — and hey, she’s an actress, it’s no wonder she’s so easily charmed and swayed with the way your voice rings out blunt responses like it were second nature.
and to be fair, she’s a massive instigator of conflict. on the sidelines of course. so when you perhaps “accidentally” rub someone the wrong way, she can’t help but use sarcasm to throw fuel into the fire and watch the hellish flames burn as she kicks back with a cup of tea and a slice of cake (you know, like a true mirror to marie antoinette)
i think your duo would be even funnier and more undoubtedly chaotic if you have british humour and or slang equipped because let’s be so real if this was modern furina would force neuvillette to act like her roadman guard-dog while she sold 50p sweets during break time to the year 8s. throw in a little “yute” or “op” and she has heart eyes all over you (i promise this is all for the sake of comedy…)
NAVIA — 娜维娅
the best part of being in a relationship is being able to chat shit about anyone and everything, because well, you’re each-other’s everything already, why rely on the kindness of strangers for validation?
you and navia do the thing where you’ll subconsciously glance at each-other from the corners of your eyes when someone (or people) say some dumb silly shit. the problem being, neither of you can keep quiet and immediately will begin giggling and will make it inevitably worse by whispering to one another “stop!” and “don’t laugh—“ while holding your mouths to stifle yourselves.
this leads to people being rather nervous to speak to navia when you’re around. usually, navia is very friendly and softly spoken; often she’ll be a rather happy-go-lucky and caring girl who smiles no matter what — of course this doesn’t mean she’ll allow people to walk all over her, but hey she believes in second chances — but when you’re around…people will loiter around creepily before gathering the courage to ask for help or whatever they need.
navia is at heart however, a very loving and respectful person so she will remind you of when you’ve stepped out of line. sometimes rudeness is just an innate quality that people have and it’s sometimes not intended out of malice; even petty things like lateness or speaking out of turn counts as “rudeness”, and navia is here to either make excuses up for you or to defend you from criticism ☆〜（ゝ。∂）
WRIOTHESLEY — 莱欧斯利
oh he absolutely eats this shit up. every argument, insult, fight etcetera you’ve ever had is kept in a personal file somewhere in his cabinet just for memories sake. wriothesley’s life is already quite dramatic and hectic as it can be, the fortress of meropide could honestly sometimes be described as a form of circus within itself especially if you’re involved, but he revels in your antics nonetheless.
you’re literally so fucking hilarious, each time he hears those heavy doors heave open beneath him he just KNOWS shit has gone down and you’re about to dramatise it for him live.
you best believe he’s an instigator the same way furina is; whispering to you and then giggling when you use his encouragement as some sort of reference while you practically spit venom at the person who’s unfortunately become your centre of focus.
he won’t allow you to stir up too much trouble in the fortress of meropide but being his partner you get the perk of not getting into nearly as much trouble as you would if you were one of the criminals down in the fortress (unless you are then…well you’re special so it doesn’t matter!)

脑洞是这样的——
七大军校举办竞技比赛，每所学校派出5名正式队员（两组双人机甲+一个单兵）和1名替补，枫丹廷这边的队长那维莱特和副队长莱欧斯利一组，林尼兄妹一组，加上新生娜维娅，菲米尼替补。
所有人都说枫丹双璧毕业后会去梅洛彼得堡要塞服役授衔。那维莱特出身于古老的贵族名门，虽然是指���系首席，但身手丝毫不亚于战斗类专业的学生，据说他曾将好斗的至冬选手达达利亚打败，对于那场对决，那维莱特不愿意提起，只说自己是出其不意，仅仅为了维护校园纪律才出此下策。
莱欧斯利的事迹完全是另一番模样——出身于白淞镇一带的潦倒少年 ，混迹在藏污纳垢的灰河水道，青少年法庭七进七出的传奇，最后竟能爬上单兵系首席的位置，与那维莱特并肩。实习记者夏洛蒂采访过他，问他是否是传说中的“地狱犬”，莱欧说哪有七进七出那么夸张，自己只是光速认罪好好改造而已，他没能跟夏洛蒂坦白的是，自己或许是秉公无私的那维首席的唯一污点。

【OC】树/阶梯2-13
树/阶梯2-13
被（以北欧神话作为原型的）世界树以垂下的蛛丝相连着的某层世界（阶梯2-13）的初始设定，作备份用。特别感谢伊莱恩在取名与世界观构造方面对我的极大帮助TT
“树”作为概念存在，是奇迹的起源。由“树”所支撑而衍生而出的，目前已知的世界分为（上、中、下）三大层。每一大层中简略分为13个小层级。到达相邻的世界需要通过被称为“彩虹桥”的阶梯（实际上就是楼梯）。“神”也是由“树”衍生出的概念，世上并无所谓的真神存在。关于魔族的诞生，上层流传着诸多猜想，其中广泛被接受的猜想之一为：在最初的世界开辟之时，一切生命起源于“树”中流动的某种物质（在上层中，该物质被命名为“诺斯”）。“树”自上而下，如抟泥般将这份不均等的礼物给予每一处祂创造的生命。部分获得了超越某一阀值“诺斯”的幸运个体得到了奇迹的力量，由此分化为“魔族”。当个体死亡时，所持有的“诺斯”会重新成为养分被“树”吸收。上层的魔族强度一般大于下层（当然允许个例的存在）。由于生命逐渐的泛滥，“树”分享的“诺斯”也在不断减少。所以猜测目前于上层掌握着“蛛丝”的上位者们都是最早一批的魔族。
阶梯2-13（即中层的最底端），在衍生出文明后被该层级的生命自行命名为“阿列可大陆”。
（*由于中下层所知晓“诺斯”这一概念的人少之又少，所以以下统称为“魔力”）
阿列可大陆拥有悠久的历史，最远可向前追溯几千年。大陆自西向东被依次划分为 别列亚里恩帝国、多瑠多罗联合王国、厄尔德利尔帝国、亨纳德堡帝国 与 巴尔坎共和国 共五个国家。（*有地图）*各国的简介暂无想法，因此在这里先进行省略。
阿列可大陆由多物种（这里指人类与由人类衍生出的幻象物种我乱塞的就让让我吧）共同构成，但在数量占比中，人类拥有压倒性的优势。据闻这是因为百年前层出不穷的伤害事件（尽管那时人类的数量就多于非人种族，从过去到现在只是＞＞和＞＞＞＞的区别），非人种族中的部分个体频繁利用能力对人类进行欺压。不堪其苦的人类决定奋起反击。人类团结着，对非人种族进行了无差别猎杀。虽然也付出了惨痛的牺牲，但人类最终获得了胜利。自此，除去人类以外的物种几乎绝迹，人类也得以过上如愿以偿的平静生活。
（Tips：以上仅为背景叙述，在人物身上也许无法体现出“人类多于非人种族”这一现象，请当做“出现的非人生物就是大陆的全部了”来理解吧！）
人类：基础物种，一般情况下没有任何特殊的能力，分布广泛。
魔族：魔力随着成长增强，达到上限后停止。拥有一种生物（动物）的基础拟态，平时以类人形态（即拟态为人但身上会保留部分动物特征）活动。必要时，在魔力达到某一阶段（大部分魔族通过自然成长即可）后也可以完全拟态为人。魔族的魔力上限虽然有天分因素，但通过后天努力也可以缓慢提升。数量极少，寿命不详。
*基本不会采用只是以前写了作备份用列出（血族：可理解为魔族的分支，魔力增长机制与魔族大体相同。主要通过摄入除同类外其他生物的血液维持生命体征，原因不明。在极端情况下也可摄取血液以外的食物，但这只是一时之计，血族无法通过这种方式长期生存（在达到身体忍耐极限后死亡）。数量极少，寿命不详。）*其他非人种族也都能塞但是暂时没打算添置那么多。
Tips：人类作为最基础且分布广泛的物种，可以通过特殊手段对身体进行改造以永久获得能力。这里指与非人种族置换血液、脏器等暴力手段。但使用这种方式的多数人类都无法承受其强烈的排异反应，死亡率近乎百分之百。且魔力上限会在置换过程中流失，所以理论上经过改造的人类强度会远低于原始非人种族。
Tips：非人生物具体条目中的寿命不详指在正常状况下其自然寿命接近无限（因为该设定的特殊性所以将非人种族的占比大大缩小了）。如果人类与非人种族诞下孩子，那么理论上孩子会拥有极小部分血统并积攒魔力（但成长的多少因人而异，大多数人类到死都无法靠自然成长达到“能使用”的水平约等于还是普通人）。
Tips：人物档案中的 居住地/活动范围 并不意味其永远不会踏出这片领土，仅表示人物长期居留的地点。
Tips：无论生死超过150岁的角色在档案的“年龄”一栏均为不详，没有特殊含义。

顺手一塞关于主线人物的一些补充条目/口嗨
经由艾希里接管后的修道院（多瑠多罗西南部岛屿）依然没有具体的名字，并且在保留原先教徽的前提下又添置了艾希里左眼下侧的图案（大概是主附这样的区分）。必要时，人们直接以“艾希里的修道院”进行称呼。同时这里进行了小规模的改建，开始发挥起一些普通教堂的作用。除去神职人员的修习，现在信徒也可以拜访并且捐助。
虽然修道院的经济状况在信徒们偶然的造访下勉强可以维持，但是总体依然紧张。奈弗一开始在厄尔德利尔从事黑产的契机便是希望获取更多资金以维稳日常开支，同时也希望艾希里能够通过这些过上轻松平静的生活。
锡塔菈头上的金色发卡是艾希里送的。锡塔菈对艾希里的第一印象是温和美丽，即使认识的时间不长她也很喜欢凑到艾希里面前撒娇。艾希里不擅长应付这种情况（虽然并不讨厌），最后想到了报之以无足轻重的小礼物。
奈弗做饭难吃是因为从前都是生吞的只是因为现在有人要吃饭所以抱着“都给你做熟了就别叫了”的态度做出一锅惊天大粪。艾希里因为生长环境原因虽然味觉灵敏但是再难吃的食物也没什么感觉并且可以不皱眉头的全部吃掉，受伤的只会是叶笛和锡塔菈之类的…
单侧马尾出现并且真有哥的锡塔菈为旧设，舍弃了！现版本没有哥哥的设定并且锡塔菈在后期思恋的亲人（哥）可理解为纯粹的妄想产物。
奈弗在遇见艾希里前的日常单调枯燥所以本人全部忘掉了。奈弗在和艾希里相处后才渐渐拥有记忆，艾希里对他来说是极为特别的存在（也许彼此也都是）。在回过神时发现自己在拥有记忆时已经爱着艾希里了。
思来想去艾希里的人格似乎也很不健全，在捡到奈弗后双方都在慢慢改变。表面上是艾希里抚养并教导着奈弗，实际奈弗也在反过来引导着艾希里变好。不过早已基定的人格是无法轻易改变全部的。艾希里对奈弗有着极大程度的依赖，这也是为什么当奈弗不在她身边后她会开始疯狂。她不懂什么是健康的爱，在她的成长历程中也没有人能够告诉她爱是什么。
叶笛和锡塔菈身为早年好友都出身福利院，目前还在纠结的设定是要不要让艾希里与福利院有关系，叶笛的身份早就被艾希里所知晓。这样接受锡塔菈便也是计划的一部分了。不过这样的话对锡塔菈也太残忍了喂。

Translating Terminologies of Some Knights of Favonius Companies
I really like organization and naming sections in fictional groups.
I was trying to name the units in my own little story’s knights order, especially for a scouts unit, and decided to look at the Knights of Favonius for reference, because I love the Knights of Favonius (and Kaeya) a lot and it’s the reason why I started playing the game. To my surprise, the English names for some positions and companies are different from the official Chinese names, though I guess I shouldn’t really be surprised.
I will be translating and talking about the Chinese and English version differences in Varka’s and Jean’s positions, and the names of the companies headed by Eula, Amber, and Albedo. For this translation’s terminology, I’ve asked a friend’s brother, who’s a cadets guy, so I trust that he knows what he’s talking about. I’ve also done some research online.
The Chinese terms are taken from Diluc’s Character Story in Chinese, the Chinese Wiki, as well as the character introduction visuals, and the English terms are from the English Wiki. The captains’ roles are from their Character Stories as well as the manga.
As always, the official Chinese names first, then my translation, then the official English version. Noteworthy terms under the cut.

Varka’s and Jean’s Positions
大团长
团长 as in 骑士团长
骑士团 means “chivalric order”, so the highest position in a chivalric order would be the Grand Master
Verdict: Yes, Grand Master (alternatively stylized as Grandmaster) is the right title for Varka
副团长 and 代理团长
Oh boy
In Diluc’s Character Story 5, Jean is referred to as 新任副团长琴, which translates to “newly appointed Assistant Grand Master Jean”.
副 can also mean “vice” as in “vice-principal” but “Vice-Grand Master” sounds odd and I don’t think that’s the right term.
The full sentence says “大团长法尔伽远征域外，由新任副团长琴出任「代理团长」一职。” which means “Grand Master Varka was on an expedition outside of the city, and let the newly appointed Assistant Grand Master Jean assume the role of the ‘Acting Grand Master’.”
However, the official English translation for this line is simply “Grand Master Varka had left on an expedition, leaving Master Jean to assume the role of Acting Grand Master.”
The title “Master Jean” would simply hold the same rank as the title “Master Diluc”, which isn’t strictly a chivalric title and instead is just to refer to high-ranking men.
Verdict: There should be a distinction in Jean’s two positions, 副团长 and 代理团长, which should be translated as “Assistant Grand Master” and “Acting Grand Master”, respectively.

Translating Terms According to Structure and Purpose
小队
The term generally means “team”.
According to my friend's cadet brother, it’d be translated to “platoon”, which is “a subdivision of a company of soldiers, usually forming a tactical unit that is commanded by a lieutenant and divided into several sections.”
“Squadron” historically refers to a cavalry unit but is now used to refer to the Air Force.
But the Knights’ only cavalry unit is headed by Kaeya so you can’t use “squadron” to refer to all units.
In the game, 小队 is consistently used for all groups under the Grandmaster and Assistant/Acting Grandmaster.
Meanwhile the official English version sometimes uses “Team”, and sometimes uses “Company”.
“Company” refers to “a body of soldiers, especially the smallest subdivision of an infantry battalion, typically commanded by a major or captain”.
I think “company” should be the best term for groups in the Knights of Favonius (since according to Kaeya, “there’s a total of ten captains”) but the term should be used constantly like how 小队 is used in Chinese.
Verdict: 小队 should be translated as “company” and used for all Knights of Favonius companies.

侦察小队
This is what the official English translation incorrectly calls the “Outriders”.
It’s the company that Amber’s grandfather started and the one where she’s currently the only active member.
This is also the company that’s made up of archers and gliders.
And 侦察 means “reconnaissance”.
That’s it. That’s what it means. The official English translation team looked at a word that means “reconnaissance” and mistranslated it to “outriders”.
“Reconnaissance” refers to “military observation of a region to locate an enemy or ascertain strategic features”.
This is exactly what Amber does in the manga when she’s scouting for Fatui devices. She uses her gliders and archery skills to accomplish her tasks and get around easily. “Reconnaissance” is a fitting title for her role since the focus is on information gathering rather than combat.
Meanwhile, “outrider” refers to “a person in a motor vehicle or on horseback who goes in front of or beside a vehicle as an escort or guard”.
Kaeya is pretty much Jean’s right-hand man (as shown in his contributions in investigating the Black Fire Incident in the manga) so if he, as the Cavalry Captain, has a horse and accompanies someone’s vehicle as an escort, then that’d make him an outrider.
(But Varka took all the cavalry away when he left so that’s not possible.)
Verdict: Amber’s company, 侦查小队, should be translated as “Reconnaissance Company”.

游击小队 (the name of Eula’s company)
Now speaking of what the official English translation calls the “Reconnaissance” Company…
This is the company that Eula is the captain of.
Since Amber’s company is already the Reconnaissance Company, we know Eula’s company is in fact not Reconnaissance.
游击 means “guerilla”, which refers to “a member of a small independent group taking part in irregular fighting, typically against larger regular forces”.
According to Eula’s character details in Chinese, she often works outside of Mond to hunt down monsters and the Abyss Order. She has excellent bladework and strategic planning as well as courage and insight.
These are all good traits for the captain of a Guerilla Company, since the focus is irregular (and thus possibly unpredictable) combat.
Verdict: Eula’s company, 游击小队, should be translated as “Guerilla Company”.

骑兵小队 (the name of Kaeya’s company)
骑兵 means “cavalry”, which refers to soldiers that fight on mounted horseback
The term 骑兵小队 translates to “Cavalry Company” but I think the cavalry is just referred to as “the cavalry” rather than appending the word “company”
The official English translation does the same as well
Verdict: Kaeya’s company, 骑兵小队, is translated as “Cavalry”.

调查 means “to investigate” or “investigation”
The official English translation calls it the “Investigation Team”
Investigation is correct. But like I said, let’s change “team” to company.
Verdict: Albedo’s company, 调查小队, should be translated as “Investigation Company”.

Conclusion
HoYoverse’s English translation team made mistakes concerning the very structure of the first noteworthy group in the game, the Knights of Favonius.
The biggest mistake is mistranslating Amber’s position as Outrider rather than being in Reconnaissance, since she’s the first Mondstadt character you meet in the game. Similarly, Eula’s company, the Guerrilla Company, is mistranslated to Reconnaissance Company, giving the false impression of her company being a possible replacement for Amber’s company when in reality they perform two different purposes. Paimon: Is it just Paimon, or does Eula not look particularly thrilled right now...
Traveler: Well since we're all here...
Traveler: ...Who's up for some afternoon tea?
Collei: Oh, cool! Great idea! Let's go.
Eula: If you're trying to accommodate me, there must be some misunderstanding. I'm fine. There's nothing embarrassing about running into colleagues in the wild.
Collei: Uh, but earlier you were…
Translation Notes: Official translation provides some context for Eula’s embarrassment but also gives a different vibe with just a few minor changes (again). Eula’s company is the Guerilla Company in Chinese. The vacation part in Kaeya’s line is localized well though.
*Based on voice, dialogue, and expression, Eula seems embarrassed in Chinese (and Paimon also points out she seems embarrassed). But in the official English location she downright sounds hostile in words and voice (despite her expression) so Paimon says she doesn’t look “particularly thrilled”.
**Directly it’s “Everyone, let’s drink afternoon tea together” but the idea is that it’s a suggestion instead of request.
***Collei sounds kind of embarrassed in a “I don’t know what to do so thanks for getting me out of this awkward situation by suggesting we drink tea” way. Also, since it’s in Gandharva Ville, that’d imply she’s a host scrambling to please her visitors.
****This line is really vague because it’s not a full sentence. Directly speaking, it’s closer to “That’d better be the case for you…” but Collei looks away and mutters this to herself in a sad musing way while looking unconfident. Eula is rather straightforward in saying the Knights misread her being embarrassed, so Collei is probably thinking something like, “I’m trying to lessen the tension by offering to make afternoon tea for everyone but Eula declined my offer, which feels embarrassing, like I’ve done something wrong.”
