Giving JoJo Stands to Sonic characters
Yeah, the title says it all: I'm gonna give the Sonic characters Stands like the ones in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (and other related stuff).
This can be quite difficult in a universe like the Sonic one, for the following reasons:
The powers the characters already have are almost solely about improving physical attributes such as speed, strength or endurance; in these cases, the character can easily be turned into a Hamon user. Apart from this, they have flight skill at most. In either case, the only thing that could be done is to give them "bound Stands" embodied in body parts (Sonic's spikes or legs, Tails's double tail, Knuckles's spiked fists), similar to Yukako Yamagishi's Stand "Love Deluxe", which manifests as its user's hair.
The characters’ movesets almost always consist of relatively simple martial arts techniques or spinning movements. To explain the latter, the character can be given mastery of the art of Spin (introduced as a replacement for Hamon in JoJo Part 7).
There are some characters with element control powers such as pyrokinesis and hydrokinesis, but they are very few and quite basic, nothing that hasn't been seen before.
Chaos energy almost always grants powers related to the manipulation of space-time, which manifest either as teleportation (with rather limited capacity) or time stopping (just "ZA WARUDO!!!"). Chaos energy sometimes grants a Wolverine-esque accelerated healing factor, but this is hardly hinted at, and Chaos energy-based attacks always look like knock-offs of Dragon Ball Z energy attacks.
Finally, something fundamental when creating JoJo Stands is that they have to be as flamboyant and weird (you know... bizarre) as the imagination allows.
Then the DeviantArt user DashInTheDark told me about his idea of a Stand for Sonic. That, in turn, led me to take a leaf from Kamen Rider, a tokusatsu TV series aired almost continuously since 1973: in this series, not only is the protagonist of each season always someone different but also their powers' origins are always different, varying between scientific experiments, magic and combinations of both, although the protagonist always carries the mantle of the hero "Kamen Rider". In this case, each Sonic character could obtain their Stand in different ways, instead of always being physical manifestations of their "fighting spirits". After all, Stands almost don't follow rules, and if it seems some rule applies to all Stands, eventually a Stand appears that is also the exception to that rule; moreover, maybe one day, the official JoJo manga will feature a Stand that is also not a physical manifestation of someone's "fighting spirit".
Anyway... Let's start with this:
----------------------------------------------------
ソニック・針鼠 ["Sonikku Harinezumi", Sonic the Hedgehog].
All of Sonic's fighting techniques are based on spinning something (usually his own body) in various ways, rolling himself into a ball in many cases; sometimes other characters also use some attacks based on rolling their own body, such as the Spin-Dash and the Homing Attack, but they're based on those of Sonic, who's also the only one who uses exclusively these "spinning techniques", including some movements unique to Sonic's moveset such as the Humming Top, the Sonic Wind and the Drop-Dash. Therefore, we can make Sonic a user of the Spin; among other things, the Drop-Dash featured in Sonic Mania could be associated with the Infinite Spin, an application of this art.
Sonic's Stand: 「主たる宇宙でシャーラ」 ["Shutaru Uchū de Shāra", "Shahra in the Prime Universe"].
This is DashInTheDark's idea I told you about, albeit with a few things added by me.
Sonic gained his own Stand after the events of the video game Sonic & the Secret Rings: Shahra is a genie who had previously sworn allegiance to Sonic when he visited the Arabian Nights parallel universe, and the Stand Shahra is a kind of incarnation of the genie in Sonic's Prime universe, where the blue hedgehog came from. Under normal conditions, and even when Sonic is in Super form, the Stand Shahra's abilities are rather passive: if he has any chance of winning, no matter how small, Shahra manipulates the probabilities in order to make him always victorious. Generally, she doesn't manifest or reveal her form, and Sonic doesn't try to get her to do so or has an interest in exploring or exploiting her powers either: in Sonic & the Secret Rings, he was also not comfortable with the idea of "owning" someone else, insisting that Shahra call him by his first name instead of "Master". Theoretically, if Sonic got over this reluctance to use her powers and allowed her to achieve her Requiem form, she'd briefly give him access to the World Rings, which would allow him to become his Darkspine form or any other form induced by the power of these objects, and she'd also grant him one wish, something very useful as a last resort in case Sonic's chances of winning are absolutely nil and Shahra's ordinary powers ain't useful anymore.
----------------------------------------------------
パウアー・マイルス、別名「二倍・尻尾」と「二尾」 ["Pauā Mairusu, betsumei 'Ni-Bai Shippo' to 'Ni-Bi'.", Miles Prower, aka "Double Tail" & "Two Tails" ("Tails")].
It may not currently seem like it due to how SEGA has absurdly nerfed Tails, but he was originally intended as a reference to a powerful Japanese mythological creature: 九尾の狐 ["Kyūbi no Kitsune"], the nine-tailed fox spirit, which also inspired the creation of Naruto in the homonymous manga and anime, Vulpix and its evolved form Ninetails in the Pokémon franchise, and Renamon and all their evolutions (specifically Kyūbimon) in the anime Digimon Tamers; the Kitsune belongs to a class of supernatural beings from Japanese mythology, the 妖怪 ["yōkai"], usually in animal forms and also with shapeshifting powers, being even capable of posing as human beings and having offspring with them.
I think the fairest thing would be to make Tails's Stand also based on the Kitsune.
Before talking about the Stand, I'm gonna add some things about Tails's fur colour patterns. He has black marks all over his body: the fur around and between the eyes, a thin vertical stripe on each cheek, a single ring around each tail (on the limit between the white and yellow parts), and entirely black hands, wrists, feet and ankles. When Tails goes Super, his black fur parts turn bright crimson and his eyes' irises turn orange-yellow, and when he goes Hyper, the now red parts of his fur start to emanate a sort of orangish smoke, as the irises turn bright crimson too (but none of this makes him look creepy, instead it’s like the red eyes with visible pupils in Goku when he goes Super Saiyan God).
Tails's Stand: 「運命の日」 ["Unmei no Hi", "Day of Fate"] / 「魂対魂」 ["Tamashī tai Tamashī", "Spirit versus Spirit"].
In the iconic Dragon Ball Z scene when Gohan becomes a Super Saiyan 2 for the first time, the song playing in the background is called 「運命の日 〜魂VS魂〜」 ["Unmei no Hi 〜Tamashī tai Tamashī〜", "Day of Fate 〜Spirit versus Spirit〜"].
Tails is a descendant of several Mobians who were hybrids of Kitsunes and Mobians (just like a 半 妖 ["han'yō"], a hybrid of a yōkai and a human or a cross of two of these hybrids, but with the Mobians replacing the humans); however, the yōkai inheritance remains latent and is totally useless if its user doesn't cultivate his own personality. Tails has always been smart, kind-hearted, willing to help others, but he also used to be naive, not very clever, slightly fearful, and above all, dependent on Sonic. This changes with the events of the Sonic Adventure saga, which in turn leads to Tails finally unlocking his powers and his Stand briefly manifesting for the first time.
In its most basic form, "Day of Fate" is a bound Stand, embodied in its tails. As Tails matures, or when he goes either Super or Hyper, or when the Stand itself takes other forms, it adds more tails and can reach a maximum number of eight. In its Requiem form, it eventually becomes a humanoid Stand separated from its user's body, taking the form of the nine-tailed Kitsune as Tails himself becomes nine-tailed too: the Requiem Stand has white fur with Super Tails's red marks, in which the tip of each individual hair emanates a tiny but quite bright blue flame; on its eyes, the irises are deep blue and even brighter, the sclera is black and the eyes as a whole are more slanted; it can stand on its rear legs but frequently walks on all fours, although it's also able to fly anyway.
A form slightly easier to achieve than the Requiem one is "Spirit versus Spirit", a kind of derivative of the Stand "Day of Fate", similar to how "Sheer Heart Attack" and "Bites the Dust" were derived from Yoshikage Kira's Stand "Killer Queen". In turn, "Spirit versus Spirit" is similar to Iggy's "The Fool": it can take any shape Tails wants, it could even take the form of his convertible plane/mech Cyclone, but it usually manifests itself as a kind of fox-like robotic golem with thick wheels replacing the rear legs, up to twice the height of a human being; it's made from machine parts and electronic components, but if Tails goes Super or Hyper or gains more power in some other way, it can be formed from different metals manipulated even more finely (just like in the X-Men comics and movies, where Magneto can separate an iron beam into thin strands), thus creating a creature with a body similar to that of Vision -another Marvel superhero-, where metal forms tissues and organs similar to those of flesh-and-blood animals.
At its most basic, "Day of Fate" passively gives Tails technomancy-like powers, contributing to the fox's talent in engineering; "Spirit versus Spirit" is related to this ability, being pretty much like its highest expression. When Tails goes Super, he can fire plasma bullets from the tips of his tails just like Kyūbimon does. When Tails goes Hyper, the Stand can create life just like Giorno Giovanna's Stand "Gold Experience" does, and he often uses this to summon the Flickie Squad of Death (the four super-canaries from his Super form in Sonic 3 & Knuckles). If Tails goes Hyper and activates "Spirit versus Spirit" under those conditions, it could momentarily stop the flow of time. In its Requiem form, "Day of Fate" allows Tails to access even more Chaos powers and manipulate space-time however he pleases.
----------------------------------------------------
狐フィオナ ["Kitsune Fiona", Fiona Fox].
After Fiona has lost her hands and forearms during a fight with Scourge due to an Anarchy Blast unleashed by him, she receives a pair of prosthetics similar to those of Payback Fox, her "Dark Mobius" counterpart in Archie-Sonic. The prostheses store blood samples from both Fiona and various Chaos Adepts, allowing her to absorb, manipulate and use or re-release the energy of the received attacks, being in theory capable of reaching a sort of "semi-Super" form, very powerful but exhausting and of quite limited duration. It's based upon a tecnicque shown in the Dragon Ball franchise, the Kaiō-Ken, and Fiona calls it 「ティカル拳」 ["Tikaru Ken", "Tikal Fist"].
I think a Stand representative for Fiona Fox would have two different forms: one form would evoke the determination with which she used to fight the war against Eggman, her attempt to have faith in people, and her vocation for medicine; the other would embody her rightful anger and desire for revenge after her rough childhood, the way Eggman used and hurt her on a personal level, and Scourge's abuse later.
Fiona's Stand: "LSD" ("Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds") / 「世界・の・終わり」 ["Sekai no Owari", "End of the World"].
"LSD" takes its name from the iconic song by the Beatles. "End of the World" takes its name from the second opening theme of JoJo Part 3, 「その血の記憶 ~End of THE WORLD~」 ["Sono Chi no Kioku ~End of THE WORLD~", "Memories of that blood ~End of the World~"].
"LSD" is similar to Josuke Higashikata's Stand "Crazy Diamond". In this case, it has the shape of an androgynous but also bulky Mobian fox, covered by several plates apparently made of solid diamond, with the head protected by a piece of the same material that looks like a Roman/Corinthian helmet without the hackle; On the back of each hand, it has five symbols engraved forming a hexagon: the Rod of Asclepius, the Bowl of Hygieia, a heart, the Freedom Fighters insignia (an orange circle with a black star inscribed on it, with the acronym "FF" written in yellow in the centre of the star), and two kanji, 生 and 命, which together form the word 生命 ["seimei", "life"].
"LSD" is strong, resistant and fast, but the range of its movements is rather short, being able to move about three meters away from Fiona at most. Its unique ability as a Stand is to heal other people and/or accelerate their recovery, as well as repair objects and/or return them to a previous state. However, this has limits: the healing powers can only be used on people other than Fiona herself, and if used on someone else's Stand, they have no effect on either the Stand or its user; regarding the repairing power, it doesn't work when the parts of the object to be repaired have been erased from existence or taken to another dimension/universe, nor does it work if those parts have been separated from the rest of the object as part of a chemical reaction (rusty metal, anything that has been in contact with acids, food that was already eaten and digested, partly putrefied organic matter, etcetera).
Surprisingly, Fiona's prosthetics are able to "channel" the power of "LSD", which makes this humanoid Stand also partly a bound Stand. Fiona's "Tikal Fist" form also makes it possible to provide extra energy to "LSD", thereby enhancing its physical attributes and healing powers. "LSD" can also momentarily stop the flow of time, but at the cost of another limitation: the healing and repair powers don't work within the stopped time.
In its Requiem form, "LSD" can also manipulate space-time, but only in a specific way: it can only "repair". This includes: reversing physical damage in ways that conventional medicine and Chaos Healing could not, including to make its healing and repair powers work within the stopped time and/or touching other people's Stands; repairing objects even if they were erased from existence, their pieces were taken to other dimensions/universes or there were chemical reactions involved; undoing damage to the space-time continuum itself, such as time paradoxes or the intervention of extra-dimensional entities that have altered historical events, or even preventing the death of someone who has just died (although the latter is much more exhausting for "LSD" and Fiona).
This Stand has two "faces", two forms, equal and opposite at the same time, neither of which is a derivative of the other (unlike "Spirit versus Spirit" in relation to "Day of Fate"). One of those "faces" is "LSD"; the other, "End of the World".
"End of the World" is very similar to "LSD": a bulky androgynous Mobian fox appearance with an "armour" of sorts; the same basic physical attributes (immense physical strength, defences and speed, countered by a quite short range); inability to use its special Stand powers within the stopped time and/or indirectly by touching other people's Stands, unless it reaches its Requiem form, which already pushes these powers beyond the limits of Chaos energy; a bond with Fiona's prosthetic hands and forearms; the ability to harness Chaos energy in the same way Fiona herself does thanks to prosthetics, along with increased raw power for the Stand if Fiona turns into her "Tikal Fist" form, and allusive symbols engraved on the back of each hand of the Stand.
Otherwise, "End of the World" is the opposite of "LSD". The armour is very similar to that of Dio Brando's Stand "The World", including the rather "mechanical" appearance of the Stand itself and the bright gold colouration; it has shackles hooked to its wrists, with a short piece of a broken chain hanging from each of them, and the symbols engraved on the back of each hand are four and form a rhombus: the biohazard symbol, a broken heart, an hourglass, and the kanji 死 ["shi", "death"]. Its special Stand power is to make everything it touches "decay": Instead of healing someone or speeding up their recovery, it causes disease or accelerates an existing one's advance and health deterioration in someone already ill, and the prosthetics are a bit like the "Satan Claw" of Baron von Strucker -another Marvel villain-; instead of repairing objects, it increases their fragility or make their deterioration easier in some other way (by accelerating the rotting of food or the oxidation of metal, for example). The Requiem form of "End of the World", in addition to enhancing the existing special powers and allowing their use in situations where the Stand in its basic form cannot use them (within the stopped time, for example), causes this same "decay" in space-time itself, creating anomalies, disturbances, paradoxes and other similar events, potentially causing alterations in other dimensions and parallel universes; these powers can spiral out of control, become random, and even destroy the entire multiverse if Fiona doesn't master them properly.
Fiona is determined to use only "LSD": "End of the World" is too dangerous, what her Stand's "benign" side is able to do matches her own vocations and ideals more closely, and "LSD" is excellent for combat anyway. She also realizes the very existence of "End of the World" is pretty much a result of her anger, her desire for revenge and her tendency to mistrust people, which in turn were caused by all the damage dealt by Robotnik/Eggman and Scourge; she has overcome these feelings and has learned to handle them to her advantage, but her recovery may still be far from over, and she remains reluctant to even test the powers of "End of the World". If Fiona fully recovers from her traumas and achieves better control and usage of her emotions, her Stand may manifest as an amalgam of "LSD" and "End of the World", with the best of both; however, these remain mere speculation for the time being.
----------------------------------------------------
団栗サリーとニコール大山猫 ["Donguri Sarī to Nikōru Ōyamaneko", Sally Acorn & Nicole the Lynx].
In events similar to those of the Mecha-Sally arc in Archie-Sonic, Sally was turned into Eggman's soldier, not by robotization but with extensive physiological alterations and implantation of cybernetics and some weapons, creating "Cyber-Sally", who among other things obtained abilities similar to those of Baoh (the protagonist of a short manga series of the same name, written by Hirohiko Araki a few years before starting to write JoJo) and Kars in his "Light Mode":
The cybernetics implantation even went so far as to replace the left eye and half of the skull and integrate a series of microchips and circuits within her very brain. This allows Cyber-Sally to link her mind to other machines directly and to process data faster.
Eggman inserted into different parts of Sally some Chaos Drives (like the energy sources of the robots in Sonic Adventure 2), which were connected directly to the muscles and thus increased her physical strength and stamina.
On each forearm, it was installed a high-tech sickle, with small blades moving at high speed along its edge like a chainsaw. These sickles usually remain stored inside the forearms, already almost totally cybernetic. By cutting through the air, they can fire cutting wind gusts, but this consumes more energy.
The fingertips have USB plugs for connecting to computers.
The palms of the hands can secrete corrosive enzymes, which melt organic matter and even metal.
As an emergency measure, Cyber-Sally can use the attack "Fury Stingers": she changes the composition of her hairs, turns them into a kind of pins and shoots them like darts; those "hair darts" can cleanly pierce almost any material, remain stuck and explode with a delay of a second or two after hitting the enemy.
The most powerful and exhausting attack for Cyber-Sally is the Disruptor Electro-Magnetic Pulse, aka "Storm-Breaker": generating electricity from her own body, reaching an immensely high electrical voltage.
Eggman also created a new model of Cybernik armour (like the one Shortfuse wears in the British Sonic comic), attached it to Sally's implants, and made her depend on this armour to survive while also keeping her subordinate. Eventually, Nicole hacks into the Cybernik armour, she and Sonic free Sally from Eggman's control and her friends manage to replace the original armour with one that can be retracted without putting Sally's life in danger; however, they can no longer remove the implants or undo any of the "enhancements" Eggman made.
A few months before, when the techno-mage Regina Ferrum -aka 「鉄の女王」 ["Tetsu no Joō", "The Iron Queen"]- attacked New Mobotropolis, she had hacked into Nicole and turned her into 「鉄のニコール」 ["Tetsu no Nikōru", "Iron Nicole"], her new lieutenant, the one in charge of keeping the city under the control of the techno-mage; Sally and Sonic, in a risky operation that required transferring their consciousness to the digital plane, returned Nicole to normal, and she remained a double agent until the Iron Queen was finally defeated. However, Iron Nicole turned out to be more than just a program created by Regina: it was a kind of facet of Nicole's mind, hidden in her subconscious (along with several other facets, probably), originated as a vestige of memories and experiences prior to the day she ended up at Knothole and joined the Freedom Fighters as Sally's assistant AI.
Shortly after the Death Egg's destruction and Sally's rescue, when the Freedom Fighters are about to fight the final battle against the sorcerer IXIS Naugus (who's using the body of King Max and had managed to take Acorn's throne but has just been unmasked), Regina takes control of the Eggman Empire's remnants again and, along with forces drawn from other organizations under her control, launches an even bigger attack on New Mobotropolis. As part of the Freedom Fighters (including Sonic, Sally and Geoffrey Saint-John, who had been taken over by Max-Naugus as an apprentice and assistant but has been freed from his control) fight the wizard, Nicole and Regina face off in person within the digital plane, and the latter also has to fight two other Freedom Fighters on the zeppelin from where she commands her army, but the techno-mage still manages to resist; during the duel between the lynx AI and Regina, Iron Nicole makes contact with Nicole from the back of her mind, announcing she will help her to get revenge for Regina "having dared to control her like a pet": exploiting her previous connection with the techno-mage, "Iron" enters her mind -just like a virus entering a computer through the back door left by Trojan malware- and destroys the techno-mage from within in the digital plane, causing her brain death on the material plane and defeating her once and for all. She then reveals herself fully, insists she's part of Nicole and urges her to use her help to defeat Max-Naugus and, when this is over, work together to gather the pieces of the lynx AI's past.
When Nicole returns to her friends' battle against Max-Naugus, the sorcerer is taking the lead, has managed to hold off the Freedom Fighters, and is beginning to unlock some of their element control powers; while Sonic is busy fighting crystal soldiers summoned by Naugus, Sally and Geoffrey are fighting him, but the sorcerer knows very well how to counter his own former apprentice and Sally's skills and wit don't seem to be enough. Nicole initially shows up at the scene and approaches Sally, apparently to help her get up off the ground; a rather confident Max-Naugus crystallizes the nanites from the castle of New Mobotropolis and destroys them one by one, knowing they're connected to Nicole and this would be an excellent method to weaken and torture her, but Sally gets up and attacks him by surprise: Nicole had taken refuge in Sally's cybernetics, destroying the nanites isn't gonna affect her. When Naugus sees Sally, for an instant he feels there's literally something of Nicole in her, in her very soul; when Nicole exits Sally's body like a ghost and beats him up (yeah, just like "Star Platinum"), it becomes clear what happened: Nicole is Sally's new Stand.
Sally's & Nicole's Stands: 「白金のニコール」と「電脳バオー」 ["'Hakkin no Nikōru' to 'Den’nō-Baō'", "'Platinum Nicole' & 'Cyber-Baoh'"].
Sally and Nicole are each the Stand of the other, thanks to the strong bond cultivated between them for ten years. "Platinum Nicole" is the form of the lynx AI as Sally's Stand on the material plane, while "Cyber-Baoh" is Sally's form as Nicole's Stand on the digital plane.
"Platinum Nicole" arises after Nicole has searched her subconscious for the other "facets" similar to Iron Nicole; like pieces of a puzzle, these "facets" together formed her memories prior to the start of the war against Robotnik, as well as his personality, which had also been mostly lost at the start of the war and had to be rebuilt from scratch over the years that followed (a task in which Sally, Sonic and the rest of the friends of Nicole were greatly helpful). This led to Nicole's soul being fully formed, but the world that soul belongs to is the digital, not the material; using Sally's cybernetics (which the former princess had already allowed Nicole to use as a refuge to replace her old handheld computer) as a sort of fulcrum or anchor on the material plane, the lynx AI can make a kind of "astral projection" of her soul on that plane, able to becoming tangible or intangible at will without the need for a robotic body or nanites. The Stand "Platinum Nicole", which defends Sally and fights on her behalf on the material plane, is that projection.
Likewise, "Cyber-Baoh" is a projection of the soul of Sally (a being from the material world) on the digital plane; the former princess is able to do this thanks to her cybernetics and her link with Nicole, which gave her a permanent connection to that plane. Both "Cyber-Baoh" when manifesting in the digital plane and "Platinum Nicole" when doing it in the material one have special powers thanks to the fact that they're "anomalies" in the worlds where each one manifests: "Platinum Nicole" can change its own density, make itself visible or invisible, fly (levitate, to be precise) and do other things that shouldn't be possible on the material plane, since it's the projection of a "digital being" and rules itself by the physical laws of the digital plane; in the same way, "Cyber-Baoh" can interact with the digital environment in ways that a native entity of that world (be it a mere program or a sentient being like Nicole) could not, since it's the projection of a "material being" and rules itself by the physical laws of its world of origin.
----------------------------------------------------
節・針土竜 ["Fushi Harimogura", Knuckles the Echidna].
Knuckles masters the Hamon; his Thunder Arrow was conceived as a purely electric variant of Hamon Overdrive attacks, mainly the Sunlight Yellow Overdrive, and the echidna has even invented another variant of Overdrive, the Emerald Green one, which generates energy very similar to Chaos radiation.
His Super & Hyper forms are green instead of just a light shade of red.
Knuckles's Stand: 「破壊神・混沌様」 ["Hakai-Shin Konton-Sama", "God of Destruction, Lord Chaos"].
Sonic Adventure 1 ends with Chaos overcoming his wrath and leaving behind his intention to destroy everything, thus redeeming himself. One day, long after those events, he reappears as Knuckles's Stand: the God of Destruction also realized Knux wasn't like the warlike, conquering, cruel echidnas of the Knuckles Clan, so he decided to help him in his work and his battles, giving him access to some of their powers.
The Stand Chaos is very similar to Joseph Joestar's Stand "Hermit Purple", but instead of manifesting as thorn-covered purple vines, it takes the shape of "rivers" of water running through the air that can switch between solid, liquid and gaseous states whenever Knuckles wishes. In the same way that Chaos uses water to form a body of his own, Knuckles can also use his Stand to form objects, such as ropes and lassoes made of liquid water or shields and melee weapons made of ice; these objects are surprisingly resistant despite the materials they are made of, but Knuckles's control over the water is still pretty limited, so the objects he creates cannot have a large volume and they have to be either small and compact -such as the shields, which are more similar to armour plates for some body part- or long and thin -such as the ropes-.
The Stand is an incarnation of a literal god, being strongly linked to Chaos energy and specifically to the Master Emerald, thus giving Knuckles abilities of "sight beyond sight" that are far more powerful than those he already had in Sonic Adventure 1 (when the Master Emerald, despite still missing a piece, showed Knuckles an image of the Egg-Carrier, where the remaining shards were located); he uses this in the most varied ways, such as "communicating" with the Master Emerald remotely to obtain information (just as he did in Adventure 1) and then using a body of water (be it a liquid water puddle or a vapour cloud Knuckles moves and shapes, or an ice block of which he melts specific portions) either to "invoke" maps in either 2D or 3D, to see things outside the normal visual field (be it very distant places or the interior of objects within which they can't see by conventional means, including places as absurd as outer space or inside someone's body), or to show thoughts and even visions (although the visions are rather vague and open to interpretation). The main limit in the use of these powers is that, although the information provided can be very detailed and can be about objects, people and events anywhere in the universe, it can only be about something existing or happening in the present, not in the past or future.
The Stand Chaos's Requiem form would give Knuckles the power to summon more accurate visions or even peek into other timelines -although he would still be limited in being able to see only the present-, and would allow him to use the hydrokinesis with much larger volumes of water. If the echidna is also in his Super or Hyper form, the god Chaos himself could make himself present in his Perfect form, carrying out the orders of the Guardian of Angel Island.
----------------------------------------------------
薔薇・最愛 ["Bara Moai", Amy Rose].
最愛, the pair of kanji that make up the name "Moai", is the same as that of a Japanese word that means "beloved" (and is pronounced "saiai" when used in that other context); that's also the meaning of the French name "Aimée", related to the English name "Amy". 薔薇 ["bara"] means "rose".
After the events of the Adventure saga, Amy Rose decides to keep striving to be more independent and leave her obsession with Sonic behind (yes, her portrayal from Sonic Heroes onwards absolutely sucked); this leads her to investigate her own origins, eventually discovering her ancestors came from the Miracle Planet (the Little Planet in Sonic CD) and she has latent powers mainly related to the seven Time Stones housed in that world. Amy travels to the Miracle Planet to explore it once again, also collects the seven Time Gems, and meets Longclaw, who's the Guardian of these gems here (to understand where this comes from, I recommend watching the Sonic SatAM episode where Sonic and Sally travel to the past, that should be able to clear up any doubt).
The hedgehog trains with Longclaw, both to be able to fight and to unlock her powers. When Longclaw gives her to choose a single elemental control power to study, Amy chooses to manipulate electricity and replaces her Piko-Piko hammer with one made of a special alloy similar to the Megatal invented by Tekno the Canary (a character from the British Sonic comic) in Mobius, designed to channel her new electrical powers and be used exclusively by her. At first, Amy's latent powers linked to the Time Stones allow her to summon glyphs with runes to alter the flow of time, like Weiss Schnee's glyphs on RWBY; usually, she uses a glyph to lock herself in a "bubble" where time flows faster than outside, like the hyperbolic time chamber from Dragon Ball Z but movable and not isolated, which allows to see and interact with the rest of the world and virtually gives Amy super-speed and the feeling that time passes slower from her point of view, just like Quicksilver on Marvel. Later, this same link with the gems allows her to reach the "Khronos" and "Aion" forms, a sort of Super and Hyper forms but specialized in the control and manipulation of time, and develop a remote connection with the Time Stones similar to Knuckles's with the Master Emerald.
"Khronos" is the name of the personification of time in Greek mythology, someone separate from the Titan King Cronus, Zeus's father; "Aion" is the name of another Greek deity of time, similar to Khronos but "of a higher level", related to the unbounded, eternal, cyclical time, not the conventional time divided into past, present and future.
The Khronos & Aion forms give Amy a light shade of magenta.
One day, Eggman tries to seize the Time Stones again; Amy and Longclaw thwart her plans, but the Guardian sacrifices herself and is mortally wounded, forcing Amy to take her place as the Time Stones' new Guardian. Before dying, the owl promises Amy she'll always be by her side to guide her, and gives her apprentice the option of fulfilling this new duty without having to remain secluded on the Miracle Planet or having to abandon his friends or his life in Mobius; the hedgehog is not sure how all that could be possible, but trusts Longclaw.
When Amy returns to Mobius, she finds that her hammer is giving off a strange aura that has nothing to do with her own electrical powers; then that aura separates itself from the hammer and becomes a kind of astral projection of a Mobian owl woman but robotic and at least twice the height of an average Mobian: it's Longclaw. The Miracle Planet also has a link with the Time Stones, similar to that of the Master Emerald with the Chaos Emeralds, and Longclaw's soul is now bound with the planet in much the same way as Tikal's soul is bound with the Master Emerald; this astral projection of Longclaw, making herself present to Amy through her hammer, is the hedgehog's brand new Stand.
Amy Rose's Stand: 「落下する槌」 ["Rakka Suru Tsuchi", "Hammer to Fall"].
"Hammer to Fall" (named after a Queen song) is a Stand linked to Amy's new Megatal hammer, and upon reaching its Requiem form, it changes into a mechanical humanoid with Longclaw's shape, indicating its true form as the astral projection of the hedgehog's mentor's soul; even without reaching the Requiem form, the hammer can change its shape and size, becoming either a crossbow or a kind of medium-short staff. Amy can handle it with surprising ease despite its immense weight, and whatever happens, the hammer won't disappear but nothing and nobody except Amy will be able to wield or lift it (just like Thor's hammer, Mjölnir).
In any of its forms, "Hammer to Fall" channels electricity as its user wishes, allowing a more refined control, although she usually exploits this to simply accumulate electrical tension as if the hammer's head were a kind of giant capacitor. The crossbow mode has seemingly infinite ammo: its arrows are composed of a Megatal shaft created from the hammer itself and an arrowhead added by Amy that can have different functions (like the trick arrows used by Hawkeye in Marvel); each bolt's shaft, being part of the hammer itself turned into a crossbow, has a certain time anomaly that makes it a kind of reusable cartridge case: when the bolt hits the target, only the arrowhead remains stuck while the shaft disappears and reappears in the crossbow's chamber, where Amy can add a new arrowhead and fire again; the hedgehog has had a mechanism similar to a semi-automatic pistol included in the crossbow to quickly attach a new arrowhead to the shaft. The staff mode is used almost solely to invoke her glyphs.
By adding Time Stones, Amy can use the special time powers of "Hammer to Fall": With just one Time Stone, Amy can view events either one month in the past or one month in the future, and this time frame expands exponentially as more Time Stones are added; the power to predict the future includes having access to all possible future ramifications of the timeline; the main limitations are that Amy cannot see ramifications of the timeline originating in the past, even though they were generated within the allowed time frame, and she can see past or future events only in her current location (the opposite of Knuckles's Stand powers, which allow him to see anything anywhere in the universe but only in the present).
"Khronos Amy", the Super form Amy gains from the seven Time Stones, allows her to:
Create portals to the near past and future that can be used by anyone but only last 15-20 minutes, at most 30 minutes if Amy tries hard and keeps only one portal open at a time.
Overcome two of the limits she originally had on her ability to view events in other times and timelines: she can see to the very beginning and the very end of the universe where she's located, as well as timeline ramifications originating in the past.
Summon, for a while, multiple versions of herself from different times and timelines: like portals, this usually lasts 15-20 minutes and could last up to 30 minutes if Amy summons only one alternate version of herself at a time; Amy often uses this power to gain an advantage in battle as her Khronos form, despite being an equivalent of the Super form, doesn't grant her other powers such as super-strength or invincibility; in the instant before a version of Amy is hit by an attack capable of killing or injuring her irreparably, this version is automatically teleported to her time and timeline of origin, in order to avoid permanent damage to that timeline and its ramifications after the time of origin of that version of Amy.
"Aion Amy", the Hyper form achieved with the use of the Time Stones, is quite harder to achieve than the traditional Hyper form based on Chaos energy: one of the requirements is to be on the Miracle Planet, which plays a role equivalent to that of the Master Emerald; if this is not possible, the alternative is to invoke Longclaw, whose soul is linked to the planet; the Requiem form of "Hammer to Fall" is truly an astral projection of Longclaw, so turning it into its Requiem form is necessary for Amy to then achieve the Aion form. On the other hand, the Aion form can be immensely powerful, as it makes Amy "one with the Universe" (the universe she's in), or more accurately, "one with Time": Aion Amy can simultaneously be present in all points of all the timelines of the universe where she's located, so she could manipulate historical events quite easily and be virtually invincible; the only thing that limits their powers -rather, the use of them- is the will of Longclaw and the other Guardians of the Time Stones before Amy, who guide her to properly use the powers of the Aion form (which, on the other hand, has only been attained by Amy so far); for the rest, Aion Amy can only be neutralized by entities with powers similar to hers (therefore, capable of neutralizing her at all points of all timelines simultaneously) or with the ability to affect the multiverse in some way (allowing to shape and manipulate Amy's native universe "from the outside"), while beings without these powers but capable of rewriting reality would end up in a "tie" in a battle against her.

銀・針鼠 ["Gin Harinezumi", Silver the Hedgehog].
Silver repeatedly attempted time travel, each time helping save the present Mobius from big threats but always coming back to the same post-apocalyptic wasteland future he came from. One day, Silver's future's Mammoth Mogul, now old, powerless and seemingly bordering on senility and with no ambitions for world domination, had promised the silvery hedgehog to train him and help him change history once and for all; however, it was all part of a plot for the present Mogul to gain information from his future self by reading Silver's mind, and Sonic's and the Freedom Fighters' efforts were the only thing that prevented Mogul from carrying out his plans.
The hedgehog eventually decided that trying to change the timeline was pointless and the best thing was that he just kept trying to survive in his devastated future. But before leaving Sonic's time, he learned Amy Rose had gained time powers, so he tried to follow in her steps; Amy managed to get Longclaw to show up, and although the owl could no longer help Silver or be his mentor, she did tell the hedgehog about a pocket universe where refugees from damaged or destroyed universes and timelines can train and have all kinds of resources at their disposal to later deal with threats to the whole multiverse. In that pocket universe, Silver meets another version of Blaze (based on the Blaze from Sonic 2006), who had also arrived there after the destruction of her timeline, has refined her pyrokinetic powers and discovered the Plasma form, the "Burning" equivalent of the Hyper form; the hedgehog also knows Tikal -or rather her spirit-, who is mainly dedicated to guiding the visitors in their training.
When having to choose which powers he prefers to specialize in, Silver chooses to try to make his telekinesis more powerful; on the other hand, the most radical thing on his part turns out to be his decision to sacrifice his telepathic abilities, after concluding they had been of no use to him and had even caused all of his other abilities to stagnate and remain mostly untapped. In a ritual performed by Tikal with a version of the Master Emerald, Silver lost his telepathy, gaining in return the potential to manipulate matter by using telekinesis at a molecular or atomic level, perhaps even subatomic level.
The pocket universe works the same as the Hyperbolic Time Chamber on Dragon Ball Z, but with much stronger effects: the speed of the flow of time there relative to every other dimension/universe is virtually infinite, and on the other hand, living things seem not to age physically at all while inside, making this mix ideal for training. Silver routinely switched between training within that dimension and socializing with Sonic and his friends, in order to stay sane; after he had a total of five years of training in the pocket universe, his Stand finally manifested itself.
Silver's Stand: 「鋼の錬金術師」、別名「ハガレン」 ["'Hagane no Renkinjutsushi', betsumei 'Hagaren'", "Steel Alchemist"] / 「光の意志力」 ["Hikari no Ishi-Ryoku", "Willpower of Light"].
The Stand itself, "Steel Alchemist", is named after the original Japanese name for the manga and anime "FullMetal Alchemist", and Silver has a habit of calling it 「ハガレン」 ["Hagaren"], which is also the Japanese abbreviation for "FullMetal Alchemist". "Willpower of Light" is a derivated Stand à la "Killer Queen - Bites the Dust" and is named after Future Trunks's theme song on the Play Station game Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Battle 22, 「光の WILL POWER」 ["Hikari no WILL POWER", "Willpower of the Light"].
"Steel Alchemist" takes the form of the cyan light lines on Silver's skin and the golden bracelets with those same lights worn by him on his wrists and ankles. Its power in its base form is the manipulation of matter at the molecular level, including control over the vibration of the molecules in a body and therefore the temperature of that body, although this way of using the Stand's powers is much more demanding for Silver; when he goes either Super or Hyper, this turns into manipulation at the atomic level, giving the hedgehog the ability to break molecules apart; if "Steel Alchemist" reaches its Requiem form while Silver is Super, the Stand's powers begin to work at the subatomic level, granting Silver the power to transmute chemical elements by realigning the particles within the atoms (pretty much alchemy); with "Steel Alchemist" in its Requiem form and Silver in his Hyper form, the Stand can manipulate even quarks and other particles even more elemental than protons, neutrons, and electrons, further empowering transmutation abilities.
The Stand derived from "Steel Alchemist", "Willpower of the Light", is a bastard or "hand-and-a-half" sword Silver creates with his alchemy powers, giving it some qualities that differentiate it from other weapons of his creation. The sword's main feature is the gemstone Silver embeds on it: it's the Phantom Ruby, or rather a version of that gem obtained from an alternate timeline, miniaturized and mounted between the hilt and blade similarly to the Eye of Thundera on the Sword of Omens in Thundercats. The blade of "Willpower of the Light" can change in length, being able to vary between a dagger and a longsword, and it's made of Damascus Megatal, a superior variety of Megatal a future version of Tekno in another timeline had invented to give Damascus steel's qualities to the original Megatal. In space traversed either by the sword's blade or the gusts and blasts fired by the blade when swinging the weapon, the Phantom Ruby alters the fabric of the universe, although it usually does so automatically, as if Silver's instinct was what activates the miniaturized gemstone's powers; The gemstone's effects are usually pretty weak and mainly subtle, they don't compare to the space manipulation Infinite was capable of in Sonic Forces, but the potential to do that might still be there.
----------------------------------------------------
Some additional notes:
It might seem over the top to combine the Super and Hyper forms from the Sonic games with the Stands and their Requiem forms from JoJo, and it's true that the results of such a thing would be quite OP by JoJo standards. But for a franchise like Sonic -whose resemblance to Dragon Ball has always been evident despite the shifts in tone throughout its 30-year history and its canon's many ramifications-, the existence of such OP characters wouldn't be surprising and could even be expected; moreover, Dragon Ball Super (along with the films Battle of Gods and Resurrection "F", later adapted as the first two story arcs of DBSuper) did just that with the variants of Super Saiyan it featured, which weren't merely "Super Saiyan level 257" but rather different forms obtained by other means, including combining with each other to create new forms: there are SSJ God, SSJ Blue (SSJ God + common SSJ), SSJ Blue + Kaiō-Ken times 20, and SSJ Rosé (Goku Black's own variation of SSJ Blue); Ultra Instinct isn’t related to any of these forms, but it does require Godly Ki, just like SSJ God and all its derived transformations.
The Super and Hyper forms are quite easy to obtain compared to their counterparts on Dragon Ball: in Sonic, you just have to find the Chaos Emeralds, have the Master Emerald on hand to turn them into Super Emeralds if you want to become Hyper, and pass some trials in the Special Zone depending on the video game; quite the contrary, on Dragon Ball it took intense feelings of anger to get Goku to become SSJ 1 and Gohan to become SSJ 1 & 2 (yeah, Goten and Trunks went SSJ with extreme ease, but that could be for another reason “MasakoX” posited on this video). To solve this and make going Super truly a feat for Sonic characters, here's how I'd make it work:
Anyone with the exact knowledge of how to harness Chaos energy can use the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald to power machines.
On the other hand, to be able to become Super or Hyper, one has to pass trials in the Special Zone. The trials might appear only of physical prowess to a visitor to the Special Zone, but everything they see there, the environment and the objects actually embody the inside of their very mind and various elements of it, their own body is actually their soul, and what's put to the trial is the spirit, not the body, of the one who wishes to use the Emeralds' power to become Super and/or Hyper. Just like the Master Emerald itself, the Chaos Emeralds are also sentient to some extent and are the ones who create the tests and evaluate the visitors to the Special Zone.
Depending on the development of a person's spirit, the Super form may be reached with fewer Chaos Emeralds and after passing easier trials, and reaching the Hyper form would still require all seven but may be used with the Master Emerald far away.
Having "Chaos matter" (the substance of which the Chaos and Master Emeralds are made, native to another universe that responds to other physical laws) in large quantities within the body, as happens with so-called "adepts to Chaos" such as Sonic and Tails, helps slightly in transformations, but only after one achieves some emotional development and maturation oneself, as if that Chaos matter within the body of an adept to Chaos were one more Chaos Emerald and required a certain mental and emotional "aptitude" to allow its use. The Chaos matter within an adept to Chaos helps in the following ways: firstly, it allows to "feel" the Chaos Emeralds in a similar way to how Knuckles detects the Master Emerald's shards; secondly, it makes the trials in the Special Zone -both to become Super and to become Hyper- a bit easier; lastly, a certain level of spiritual development would usually only allow to become Super with one less Chaos Emerald, but with the body's Chaos matter "activated", that same spiritual development would allow using the Super form with two less Emeralds, although the Hyper transformation would still require all seven.
Access to Chaos energy induced transformations depends on a person's soul. A machine with sentience and free will has, therefore, a kind of soul of their own, so the rules for a flesh-and-blood person to access the Super and Hyper forms also apply to artificial beings. That may have been what allowed Mecha Sonic to harness the Master Emerald's power and become a sort of "unstable Super form" in Knuckles's story of Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
