Two hands close over his shoulders, squeezing lightly and pulling him out of his reverie, "are you really still in front of that old, dusty, tome?" Castiel found a book, not long ago, a collection of old tales, a fictional work among the sea of stories they would very much like to be fictional too and that most people believe to be so.

Later today, when they are already in bed, Dean will quietly ask what Cas has read today and he will fall asleep to Castiel telling him all about the last tale he came across.

"I was" he lowers his voice, even though they are alone, as if he is going to confess to some kind of crime, "completely distracted actually, I didn't fully understand a single word of what I have read in the last half an hour."

That makes Dean smile brightly, clearly amused, "what were you even thinking about, then?"

"I love your smile." It's completely out of the blue, he knows, Dean also looks slightly taken aback by the sudden compliment, he usually looks like that no matter if the compliments are thrown his way with or without a warning, like he can't believe they are meant to be for him. Castiel couldn't help himself, since it's, well, the truth. He loves this smile Dean has for him, easy and natural, wide and honest, with a joy that reaches his eyes.

"Uhm, thanks, I guess?" He told Dean once about the things he sees in him, the ones that made him fall in love with him, but he never misses a chance to add more things to that list, especially when they are small things Dean has never been told about before. He pats Cas' shoulders before letting go, he lifts one of his hands, scratching the back of his neck, "actually, I was going to-" he stammers and this time around Castiel does stop himself before he uses the word adorable out loud, Dean points at the door behind him and turns around, marching towards it.

"I wasn't thinking about anything specific," Castiel says then, realizing he never replied to Dean's question, "a memory came to me while I was reading, that's all, I got lost in it."

"A good one, I hope." There is so much care in his voice, Castiel's chest tightens. He turns around on his chair to look at Dean, who was already watching him, he nods earnestly making Dean smile again.

Castiel watches him as he leaves the room after that, wondering how long it will take Dean to realize he actually never told him about whatever brought him there.

🌸｡*ﾟ+. Sorry for the lull in activity this passed week c': the fact that my docs and whatnot aren't done just sorta crept up on me and bothered me more than I'd like it to haha~ So I decided to try and work on my carrd myself and see if I can tie everything together and get bios done on there.

So... I think I'm gonna try and focus my energies on getting that done so I can finally be done with them. Gonna condense my muse list and reorganize, think of a better system and what have you. Gonna be a little Under Construction for a bit!

Mike desperately wants peace. something that tells him that he can be safe with his sister. to be away from his aunt for a week so he can care for his sister. to have a family again. he holds immense guilt from how quick his family fell apart, and wishes for that peace to return in his life again. as for what they find more appealing? to be loved. to have somebody tell him that they care for him and will be there to give him a day to rest. he needs rest, desperately.

as for Scott, it's love! his own family has gone through so much turmoil with his work and his son - they mean the most to him. it is all that matters to him with his life. not peace, not wealth or power. he only needs love. and like Mike, he wishes to be loved. he commits to his job because he knows just how liable the company is. it's dangerous, and he wants it to be as safe as it can be when new people are employed.
