The Sorcerer's Apprentice (Karel Zeman, 1977)

Paper cut-outs brought life. I wonder what practical, economical or maybe even political reason cause Karel Zeman to move to a more straight animation rather than the matte painting, stop motion, collaged, tinted and pushed, melding of corporeal and never otherwise possible worlds of his earlier, more famous work. Still a treat to behold though. All of this for children. Why not.

Když se spojí dva velikáni 🌟 Námětem pro nezapomenutelný animovaný film od Karla Zemana se stal Krabat od Otfrieda Preußlera, a to ještě před vydáním jeho českého překladu v roce 1996.

Přijďte se na něj podívat do pražského kina Ponrepo a zapojte se do následné diskuze s Ludmilou Zemanovou-Spálenou, dcerou Karla Zemana, a historikem Petrem Kourou.

Toulky chudého chlapce Krabata po lužické zimní krajině jednoho dne přeruší návštěva tajemného mluvícího havrana. Ten hocha zve, aby se za ním vydal do temného mlýna. Chudý a hladový chlapec nemá příliš na výběr, a tak se rozhodne stát mlynářským učněm. Nic ale není, jak se zprvu zdálo. Záhadný havran je ve skutečnosti krutý čaroděj, který Krabata a ostatní chlapce zasvěcuje do nejrůznějších tajů černé magie. Učedníci se postupně zdokonalují v proměnách v nejrůznější zvířata a provádějí temné rituály. Během jednoho z nich potká mladý hrdina krásnou dívku, do které se zamiluje.

Projekce půvabného příběhu v nenapodobitelném provedení mistra českého animovaného filmu Karla Zemana z roku 1977 bude předcházet unikátní diskusi s režisérovou dcerou, paní Ludmilou Zemanovou-Spálenou o tom, jak došlo ke spolupráci Karla Zemana s Otfriedem Preußlerem, když do vzniku filmu Čarodějův učeň ještě neexistoval český překlad knihy. Ten vytvořil až v roce 1996 Radovan Charvát, jehož druhé vydání Ludmila Zemanová ilustrovala.

Pořad bude moderovat historik a ředitel Collegia Bohemica Petr Koura.
