Had a convo with sb on tweeter and altho it started as a sorta-argument (not rly), it did ended amicably with us semi-agreeing with each other, but also acknowledging the story can go any way. But we were debating if Jin and Kaz would actually be relevant in the next game and we brought up the point if Jin could still have the devil gene. I pointed out it's sussy that Jin still has the tat, it felt like an intentional decision to leave him with the tat in the ending. That person countered by saying "oh, it's just a cosmetic, the tat is too recognizable of a design for him". And it's like... big maybe but like. I don't think it'd matter much if they removed the tattoo just for the ending...? I mean, they removed Kazuya's red eyes - but you can still see those red eyes when you play him or in the main menu screen. so... I don't know why they wouldn't have removed Jin's tat just for the ending?

Here, he's definitely talking to his mother. I'm sure we'll meet again, him acknowledging she's not there.

Then he says this, talking aloud again when... nobody's around? Who the heck could he be talking to? He acknowledged his mother isn't around, so he can't be returning with her. Is he talking to the bird? "Everybody" refers to his friends, but who's "us"? We don't see Xiao or anyone around. So this leads me to believe he's talking to Devil.

DJ's status is set as "unknown" on his wiki. But he does, curiously, have a cause of death

The same one as DK and Azazel. But like I said, Jin talking aloud when seemingly nobody else is around and the tat remaining (whilst Kazuya's red eyes don't)... it's just suspicious to me. And I'm not inhaling copium, DJ can stay Gone Forever if he wants, but I just don't think we can totally rule out he's alive bc of these parts of the ending...

Aka, basic Adam later wakes up in hell verse and finds he's not only fallen, but also the cannibals have recently been eating away at him.

'Bout his form:

Will have his helmet back, but it's pieced back together with what looks like angel blood, so all the cracks are glowing. The mask itself is defective and glitches out in the eyes depending on the kind of frequencies he encounters or creates via his guitar ax.

The cannibals ate one of his wings, so he doesn't quite fly anymore- but he can still step off ledges and sort of hover a moment/glide down. The feathers are not as shiny/dulled down and look more like brass over gold.

Basically wears open shirts and jackets to accommodate his ribs which are exposed since the cannibals mostly ate that area of him. The middle of the rib cage/ sternum is gone, and his ribs are pried open farther and wider than usual. The two diamonds that were floating in his halo are now floating, suspended inside the empty torso with the bottom one stained in angel blood. He might have an ability with his ribs where they work like a pair of jaws and can spread apart as well as clamp down like a bear trap. One rib is notably broken off...

His other abilities seem to be centered around music/noise, and he can create 'riffs' of concentrated bass energy that can knock most things out of the sky and make them very uncomfortable in the process.

We’re at the stage in fic writing where I needlessly add context and backstory to characters who are all already dead before the story started. In other news, guess how many dead parents there are in the taxonomy!verse?

We have Bette’s dead dad and (surprise!) not-dead-but-should’ve-been-dead adoptive mom.

Tom’s dead mom. She’s only mentioned for a couple panels but you bet your ass I’m adding so much tragedy there. Especially since it’s more recent compared to most of these other ones.

We have the adoptive parents (my ocs) of Damian that raised him for only a few years before the League got to them. (SotD!!!)

We have the highly specific version of Willis and Catherine Todd that I made in my head. They’re actually really sweet, which adds to the tragedy of Jason’s life, and also adds some stuff to his particular POV chapters in Chiroptera.

Finally, various parental figures (and sibling figures) from the League that taught Damian things. (This lad fit so many dead family members in his childhood!! That he actively blocks from his memory!!)

(Not even counting the dead parent smorgasbord of freshly-dead Bruce, the Graysons, and the Drakes).

We have fun here.

new year's wasn't anything special, at least not to yone. to him, it was just another day, and he really wasn't planning for anything special. well, that didn't exactly go as he thought, as ezreal had the brilliant idea to throw a little party in the apartment. and he'd agreed to it, despite himself. why not have a little fun ?

. . . it was fun, until everyone else passed out before midnight, leaving himself and kayn as the only two who were still awake.

yone wasn't certain what to do, and he soon started to pick up the trash the others had left behind, using that as a distraction from the fact that he and his partner were basically alone. however, he was caught off guard by said partner pulling him close from behind, cheeks darkening as he felt a pair of lips press against the back of his neck and linger there for a long time.

" . . . kayn ! " he hissed, careful not to wake the others up with his outburst. embarrassment clung to him for dear life, evident in the way he curled in on himself and tried to make himself smaller.
