Patrick is gone by the time David wakes up the next morning but there, on the pillow next to him, is a piece of paper.

Patrick left for work hours ago, but there were signs of him throughout the house. The coffee mug in the dishrack that wasn’t there the night before, the lingering scent of Patrick’s body wash in the bathroom. It was like CSI: Long Term Relationship, and it was comforting to David. Patrick’s presence, in any form, was comforting to him.

Over breakfast, David sends a message on his work’s group text chain. By the time he finishes his cereal, he has switched his shift with one of the new hires (it’s a closing shift on a Wednesday. They'll be fine).

He brings out a spare piece of pink cardstock and the calligraphy set his mom bought him for Christmas the year before, while casually hinting that it would be nice to get a letter from him once in a while. David takes a sip of coffee and sits down at the desk.

Dear Mr. Patrick Brewer,

You are cordially invited to tap this.

When: tomorrow night at 8pm.

Thing about just clicking with someone and not having to put in the work is finding not making and those relationships - whatever form they take rarely last or manage to develop past a surface level.

Buck is such an all in or nothing kind of person that has had to fight for pretty much everything (when it comes to relationships of any form) he just cant comprehend that other people experience various levels of friendships or relationships more widely.

We see it in his training of Ravi, it comes out in his father son reltionship with Bobby, it’s part of the underlying reason the lawsuit happened and stems from his childhood abandonment issues. We even saw it in the other sneak peek where he’s with Tommy - he’s trying so so hard to make a friend that he comes across as slightly intense and focused. And while the worthwhile people will stay (the fire fam, his sister, Eddie) those who can’t take that level of focus will pretty quickly drop away, Abby and Ali are prime examples of this and even Taylor to a certain extent - she just didn’t care enough to be bothered by it.

It’s one of the reasons he’s oblivious to the fact his relationship with Eddie is different on multiple levels and it’s part of what makes Buck so interesting and why so many of us think he’s neurodivergent.

#I’m rambling but I really want them to explore this more deeply as part of his arc - which I hope is a bi arc too #I love always said I see so much of myself in buck but this really really hits hard #I’m obessed with Eddie ‘just clicking’ with Tommy and the implications #because Buck and Eddie have had to fight to build what they have and that won’t be superceeded by this surface level easy clicking #buck is just so much an all in or nothing kind of person that he can’t understand the concept of surface level not too deep but fun to hang #out with friendships/ relationships #even when he was fucking his way through the LA population he was all in and wanting more #and I guess he thinks that’s how everybody is about their relationships #911 spoilers #911 abc #Tommy kinard #Eddie Diaz #evan buck buckely

I know the show focuses on the part of that sentence that talks about Katara’s dad and I love that moment. Seriously, one of the most heartbreaking in the whole show.

But since I’m experiencing a Kataang brain rot right now, all I can focus on is the part of her talking about Aang. And I feel like this line defines how she feels about him and their relationship going forward. I feel like she would ground him and say - “Hey, I know you belong to the world, but don’t forget that you belong to me too.” Saying I know you have to be there for the people and you have to give all of yourself to the world, but don’t forget that you have to come back to me at the end of the day.

And I can see them, after a long day of trying to solve all the problems in the word, she’d say - that’s enough worrying about the world for today, now shower me with attention and Aang’s all like “YES MA’AM!”. Cause I know after years of being the Avatar he’d became more serious and burdened, so Katara is the one to bring him fun and joy, and remind him of who he is, just like he did to her when they first met. She’d remind him he’s not just the Avatar, he’s also Aang, her Aang.

Ok I’m gonna go cry now.

How would todo and sukuna in this au would interact? since the former more or less considers himself yuji"s brother

oh I just thought about this hours ago lol. I actually made sukuna joined a student exchange program to kyoto in my au, so to answer your question regarding his interaction with todo, guess what, they’re friends! Well, at least todo does, while sukuna just considers he is a great classmate of his. All I can say, they respect each other.

Sukuna is closer to the Kyoto students more than the Tokyo students and todo would even casually call him his lifelong rival (just another one of todo’s imagination, and of course sukuna disapproves of this). Later when he met yuuji, he then proceeds to call him bro number 2, while bro number 1 falls to sukuna. Yuuji is all confused but nevertheless went along with it.

And later yuuji would tease sukuna, saying things like “good morning, bro number 1” or “don’t forget your key, bro number 1” every damn day in the dorm. Sukuna might have to have a word with todo after this lol.
