There was a sharp knock at the apartment window, the one outside the fire escape. Opening it would reveal nobody there, but there would be a carved wooden boat sitting there, complete with a mast and triangular sails. Not quite child-sized, but the hands that made it were larger than most.
Hannah had been watching a movie on the couch and had dozed off, her dad working in the bedroom when she heard the sharp tap. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes she padded to the window and tugged it open. Her eyes widened as she spotted the boat however, face lighting up. A toy boat! Now her toys could have boat adventures! Picking it up she set it inside and leaned out again to look for whoever left it before calling out "Thank you!!"

His words soaked deeply inside of her heart, just like only Ayden was able to do. The more time Yeji spent with him, the more she was convinced the stories of telepathy between twins was true. It was like Ayden could see right through her mind, even the harsher corners of it. “Darkness? Have you seen my hair and fur, I’m nothing but colour!” The girl’s dismissive words reflected her wish to not concern Ayden, however her tone shifted to try regain some composure. “You know I’m thankful for you every day. I am trying Ayden, to let this world see me as you do, even if just a little.”

as a reminder to literally anyone and everyone who even so much as considers this: AO3 has NO autosave ability when you're making drafts, so PLEASE do not use it instead of a writing program.
If their server goes down, if you hit a wrong button and refresh the page or go back to the previous page, if you accidentally close the browser, if your browser or device crashes, etc etc etc you are shit out of luck. Your work is gone forever, it didn't backup to anywhere and there is NO recovery option. Even TUMBLR's drafting ability is supposed to autosave and often does.
If you want to avoid gdocs that's fine- there's other text editors with simple autosave options, like Online Notepad or Digital Scholar's notepad, or there's still local-drive writing programs that are free and open source, like LibreOffice. PLEASE do not use AO3 to write your stories into directly. It has NOTHING.
