Thinking about Swk having one of his arms chopped off.

But then instead of bleeding close to death his blood just turns back into molten stone that fashions the arm back for him, but it's not the same arm. It's not stone to flesh like his whole body is (since Shi Hou and all), but it just stays as stone. Or a type of volcanic rock while the 'veins' are visible like lava rivers snaking around this faux body part. The bone of the arm including the joints that clicks it together w the shoulder to the collar is still molten rock. And it's still burning.

He can't feel much with this arm. It's not as sensitive to touch or feeling like the other one but still being able to sense that something is touching that arm. It reacts like fiery electrical wires when he's in fight mode and then becoming full on solid molten rock again of he's serious enough about fighting something.

Maybe this arm got somehow chopped off during Havoc In Heaven, or maybe even before that. During the pilgrimage even. But his still got chopped off and the book just doesn't even mention that he got a whole ass rock arm to begin with. I'm imagining the first time MK/Xiǎotiān saw him he just couldn't understand why his arm was like that, and was immediately quite nosey about it.

MK/Xiǎotiān: Why is your arm like that?

SWK lifting his stone arm: Oh this? Psshh, it's nothing! Just got it along the way. Cool right?

MK/Xiǎotiān: It is cool! But... The book never said anything about one of your limbs being—

SWK, under his breath: And I'm glad it didn't.

MK/Xiǎotiān: What?

SWK before ushering MK/Xiǎotiān outside hurriedly: What? Anyway, let's get you up and ready for training! Forget the arm and look at this magic stick, it's waaayyy more awesome!

He's got deep history with why that body part got like that (and among other things), and he doesn't want to talk about it lol. Hits a sore spot in his poor old chest.

Yes, but being fellow small children they assumed it was for pretend. Didn't help that Red would declare battle as a means of announcing his presence.

PIF: "No worries. Red Son needs to interact with children his age after all."

Mac: "He still planning my mate's downfall?"

PIF, proudly: "He has an entire wall of plans to defeat the Monkey King."

Mac: "Ha! Determined like his mother."

*loud metal bonk sound*

Red: "HEY! No noodle strainers! Thats not fair!!"

Mei: "War is never fair, Red boy!"

Pigsy: "No battles in the kitchen!!"

Wukong: "Take no prisoners, plum blossom!"

It takes Mk like... a whole decade to realise that Red wasn't actually playing "capture the Monkey King"

I've been entertaining this thought/headcannon both for the classic and LMK for a while but—

Wùkōng's eyes shining so brightly bc of his time in the brazier that the flames just went in there. His eyes are practically little balls of Suns at this point and sometimes you can't even make out his irises (if there are any). They are very much like op flashlights atp.

He opens them it's like the headlights of a car and it's not called the Golden Eyes Of Truth for nothing. Wùkōng looks at you and sees everything not just your true form but inside you. Your veins, your bones, your flesh and layers of skin and tissues, your organs, etc. He sees beyond what you try to be. It is surface scattering but in a more detailed and deep pattern.

He even sees the rivers or channels that the vital essences/qi that are running through your body and other bodies of things. It doesn't matter if it is a living thing or not he just Sees. He knows where it comes from and where it goes.

Basically, it is like this visually;

You know that one advertisement of Mercedes-Benz with their car headlights? With the cow? Yeah, it's like that.

That's why in this headcannon, Wùkōng's eyes are mostly closed for the sake of everybody else. You can still see how the flesh/bones of his face are glowing w this bright red, and it's a very eerie sight but at least you're not turning blind just by looking at him straight in the eyes! Or have your eyeballs melt just from the sheer heat, but yeah :)

He knows where he's going while practically being 'blind', Wùkōng knows the wind and earth are buddies he can always trust. This monkey's intuition and memorization of paths and patterns are just through the roof!

I don't remember where it came from but I think there's a piece of literature out there (that may or may not be true/be from the og classic) saying that the Sun and Moon are in his eyes. Or that they are his eyes, and overall it's such a fun concept to have that I can always explore further!

But yes, this is my HC for now. Wùkōng has flashlight eyes that blinds everyone and everything, so make sure to wear extra shaded sunglasses when meeting w him!

I just realized that if the Jade Emperor legit meditated for 1,750 eons (each being 129,600 years) + was kicking for an extra 100 Million years - then this mf existed during the Carboniferous Period over 327 Million years ago.

Pre-grass and dinosaurs kinda old.

The Jade Emperor's true form could very well be a giant ass bug. Probably a dragonfly. Or a big ass toad. No way this mf's true form even looks vaguely human.

An AU where Swk fucks up and accidentally stays longer in Di Yu while trying to erase his name from the scroll, resulting in a much longer time frame passing in the mortal world while Mac was left behind w his monkeys.

Mac in this AU being the King's best friend but a series of events sets them apart before Swk gets lost in Di Yu, and ultimately forcefully taking over but not completely. He only managed to take control because Swk's Generals couldn't stop him but they're still trying to prevent him from taking over Huagoushan completely.

Skip to the present and Swk comes back in one piece, immortal and more than scarred for being in Di Yu that long, and he finds half of his beautiful home in shambles while his best friend was covered in blood that didn't belong to him. One of his Generals is unconscious in the corner.

He can't even kill Mac because he was turned immortal at that time, too.

(Also listening to some RKS rn and that might've changed some of the narrative lmao.)

I saw how some people use historical figures from Chinese mythology, folklore and religion for NSFW, literally, turning them into their own OC's, and I was wondering, what do you think of that? Because it seems like they just took them, and didn't do more research asking the question of "is that right?"

As per your second question for me I will leave that unaddressed and instead invite you to discuss those matters properly in private, especially if this answer is dissatisfying.

I personally do not care much if NSFW or suggestive content of such deities exist (except for the child Nezha, leave his child form out of this.) or that it’s being produced in the first place. The numerous Chinese social media sites like LOFTER, Douban (豆瓣) and Xiaohongshu (小红书) feature fan art of Daoist deities like Nezha and Er’lang in these kinds of situations. Fan fiction of these deities are similarly of the same attitude. It has nothing to do with if proper research has been conducted, especially in the case of Er’lang Shen who cannot act on romantic feelings even if he wanted to.

It feels to me that there’s an exception regarding Chinese deities and folk heroes when deities of other religions have been sexualized. This screams of not only hypocrisy but of ignorance in being offended on behalf of the Chinese. In the few months I was active in the LMK fandom I’ve come to realize a majority of the other Chinese in the fandom are either adopted or second generation immigrants with no real cultural background; and as a consequence have severely inaccurate biases on matters like this because they aren’t aware of how insignificant this is.

I’m admittedly not active within the LMK fandom anymore and as such I don’t know what’s happening there unless someone is compelled to talk about what is going on. But it feels to me that as per usual people are holding Journey to the West as the be all end all on numerous fronts when the books really cannot and should not be heralded as such. Moreover, it’s strange that the fandom is completely okay with sexualizing Sun Wukong, the Six Eared Macaque, and the Golden Winged Peng while any other character is unacceptable.

I assure you that numerous derivative works feature Chinese deities in relationships and sexual contexts, even Tang Sanzang is featured in movies or television shows with a romantic partner despite relationships of that nature betray his Buddhist faith.

I’ve been considering making a post about the cultural dissonance that’s happening here and various attitudes or opinions other people have because they lack the cultural context to realize how insignificant and misinformed a lot of this “discourse” actually is.

What is it about Chinese mythology that sets it apart from Nordic or Greco-Roman mythology in these ways? Why is it perfectly acceptable to sexualize Loki or Achilles, but not someone like Muzha (who was a very real person that became deified, in the same fashion as Guan Yu, as who he was studying under was seen as an incarnation of Guanyin)?

I don’t think this type of thinking will ever make sense to me as a true testament to how different the fandom (especially on Twitter) and myself feel about this matter.
