>>PROLOGUE<<

CHAPTER 1

Living in a subway station was never my dream, I believe it was never anyone's dream. Seven years ago nobody could imagine that our lives would be totally changed, an explosion changing everything, our homes were no longer the same, the world would be completely different.

In my conception, despite the disasters and deaths that happened, there was something positive, nature took what was rightfully hers, the planet recovered from what we did to it over the years. The forest dominated practically the entire surface.

The station where my colony lived had partially turned into a forest, Jason liked to play hide and seek there, with the other children. After what happened I thought it was better to leave, I decided to live on the surface, the others thought it was crazy, but I had made up my mind.

Four months later I met the boy, not a real child, but an Australian Kelpie who called himself a boy. His had been killed during the apocalypse, as a dog lover decides to take care of him, even though he is extremely independent.

"Boy, I'm going out to find some food and feed" the dog just stares at me "What? Our food is running out you little monster, and you eat for both of us." I pet him behind his ear and his tail wags excitedly.

I walk to the bus door opening it and Kelpie follows me, I look at him softly "You stay here, Boy! I won't be long."

Leaving the bus, I walk to the houses further away from the center, making as little noise as possible, the last thing I want is to draw the attention of some monster.

I arrive at a house with blue walls that seemed more preserved than the others, entering the house I carefully rummage around looking for any useful objects, canned food, clothes, and anything that looks like a toy for the boy.

In less than two hours the house has already been completely turned over, with the two backpacks already completely full I leave the house going back to the bus. Minutes go by. As I am about to turn onto the street where the vehicle is stopped, I see a giant frog coming towards me, I quickly hide behind a tree with a thick trunk. Breathing slowly to attract the giant amphibian's attention.

"Shit" I think as the animal stops a few feet behind the tree I am hiding in.

Slowly the frog moves away going in another direction, when I am sure it will not return I slowly come out of my hiding place. Letting out my breath I walk back to the bus. When I get close I hear a male voice, looking around I don't see anyone, getting closer to the door I hear a voice inside the bus. Grabbing my bow I place an arrow, I am about to open the door when the Boy seems to smell me and quickly starts barking loudly, and the door is opened.

I look at the standing man who was with a frightened expression on his face as I walk inside the bus with my arrow aimed at him. "Who are you?" I question.

"PROLOGUE"

I remember when I was younger, whenever people talked about the apocalypse, zombies and The Walking Dead immediately came to my mind, and everyone already knew what they would do if it happened, but no one was really prepared for what happened.

Agatha 616, an asteroid that came straight to earth, it's an asteroid, I know, we never thought it would happen, but it did, and mankind did what they do best, they launched thousands of rockets and blew it up. Well, rockets have chemical compounds that rained down all over the population when everything exploded. The cold-blooded creatures mutated genetically and started eating everyone, literally, ants, lizards, cockroaches, frogs, crocodiles, you name it.

For a while to kill a cockroach you only needed a shoe, suddenly you needed a tank, which didn't always work. The commanders of the armed forces ended up killing each other, and so 95% of humanity was lost within a year, the survivors hid wherever they could, shelters, underground shelters, and panic rooms all over the world.

From my own experience, after seven years, I can say that one day you get used to it, finding in a group of strangers a family, where everyone there has a single goal, to survive.
