Thanks so much again @arahdow for not only going out of your way to write this for me but also for showing so much love and support towards Castor today! Words can’t describe how much your kindness has touched my heart. As stated before I haven’t had anyone go out of the their way and write a fanfic for me for, gosh at least a decade come this November now that I think about it, let alone a stranger so this gift is truly special to me and actually takes me back to my childhood a bit so thank you. I will be sure to treasure it always 😊 Oh and before I begin I love the addition of the Dandelion at the end! It was really a nice touch.

THE LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS

Pairing. Castor Niclaw x reader (+special cameo)

A/N. this is the first work I make for a oc's of the sonic fankid showdown!! I'll be making more of these bcs i'm such a fan of a lot of kids!! soooo hope you enjoy this one !!

It’s been a couple of days since the last time Castor spoke to her. Nerves soon began to eat her up, and she didn’t even know what happened for him to put that kind of distance between the two of them. Mumbling to herself about the possibilities, she couldn’t think of what could be wrong.

“Why don’t you just ask him?” Mav, her friend, asked her.

“It’s not that simple!” She complained, rubbing her eyes. “What if he doesn’t want to see me at all? It’ll make things worse!”

“Or, it can clear things up… Come on!”

“No. I’ll try to get information without him knowing and you’ll help me!” the girl said pointing a finger at his face. Mav sighed and rolled his eyes; he couldn’t help but comply at her friends’ antics.

Days passed, both of them following Castor around secretly, spying on him around the island, but there was no information, just him living a normal life like everyone else.

“I told you, you won’t get anything unless you talk to him.” Mav said as he lay on the couch of his friend’s house, stretching his limbs up.

“I don’t know…” she replied sitting cross legged on the carpeted floor, in front of the couch.

Mav looked at his friend and clicked his tongue. “Alright, I’ll help.” He said, moving to lay on his side. A hand beneath his chin. “What was the last time you guys spoke?”

“I don’t know, maybe… Like a week…” The girl replied, defeated.

“Okay, and what happened that day?”

Recalling, the girl started to narrate their encounter: what they talked about, the jokes they both cracked, the laughs, but she was soon stopped by Mav’s interjecting fast, sitting abruptly on the couch.

“Wait, what did you just said?”

“He was talking about the golden flowers he could materialize from his thoughts?”

“And you said…”

“That I had a gift for him!”

“Which was?”

“A… Bouquet of white ivies?”

Mav opened his eyes, too stunned to speak. “Now why would you give flowers to a guy? Do you like him?”

“No!” the girl replied quickly. “I mean, not in that way! We’re just friends! I wanted to give him something he’d like, as I know he likes the language of flowers.”

Both of them kept quiet for a second. “What does giving ivies mean?”

The girl smiled. “Oh, I read on an article that they meant an everlasting friendship…”

It was weird then. The flowers meant no harm. Then what was it?

“You know what? You’re right, I didn’t do anything wrong!” Mav’s friend said as she got up and walked to the door. “I’ll ask him once and for all what’s happening and why he isn’t talking to me.” She said decisively as she went outside, quickly heading to the place Castor usually went: the library.

Quickly getting to the place, she entered. It was almost empty, just a few people, but Castor was on a corner, far away from everyone. As she walked up to him, she sat on the unoccupied chair of his table, his attention suddenly disturbed by the presence of the girl. He frowned, a grimace on his face. A forced teethy smile on his lips.

“Heeey.” He said closing the book he was reading.

“We need to talk,” The girl said, her voice low so she wouldn’t disturb the other people.

“Do we really?” he asked putting the book away, resisting the urge to leave.

She groaned. “Castor, what is going on? Why aren’t you talking to me? Is it about the flowers?” A whispered yell was heard in the hall, but nobody seemed to care.

Castor looked at her, then looked around and his eyes fell on her again. Inhaling sharply, he got closer to her, his elbows on the table as he leaned closer.

“Look, I don’t mean to be rude, but I’m not interested in… Anything regarding of a partner and all that, you’re my friend! And… I don’t know…”

“What are you talking about?” she interrupted, a confused expression crossing on her face.

Castor cleared his throat and replied.

“About the marriage proposal.”

Marriage proposal?!

“What? What marriage proposal?” the girl’s voice suddenly grew higher.

“With the flowers!” he said, his voice getting a little higher involuntarily. “I didn’t know you saw me like that but I thought you knew I’m not… Into that…”

“Castor what… Hold on…” the girl put a hand up so he could stop talking for a moment. “What does the white ivies mean?” she asked covering her lips with her fist.

The lilac hedgehog raised an eyebrow, didn’t she know that?

“It’s a flower presented to the bride and groom as symbols of everlasting life, devotion, fidelity and loyalty. The Greeks also used it to make a crown for Liber, the God of Fertility, as well as poets and other muses.” He explained with a weird tone, like he was explaining the most obvious thing to her.

But he noticed it wasn’t that obvious when the girl turned absolutely red and licked her lips nervously. She didn’t know where to look, the space in the whole library suddenly wasn’t enough for her to take a good breath.

“You’re telling me I gave you… Marriage flowers?”

Castor nodded.

“I thought they meant an everlasting friendship…” She said finally, with a weak voice as she covered her face with her hands.

And then it was silent.

“Friendship? Where did you read that?”

Still covering her face, she replied: “Google.”

A low laugh could be heard from the other side of the table, soon turning loud. A quick shush from another person on the library made Castor stop laughing.

“My friend, you should know better than to trust Google.” He spoke. With a deep sigh, he stretched on the chair and stood up. The girl looked at him in between her fingers. “Well, seems to me like everything goes back to normal. What do you think?” He said, putting one of his hands on her shoulder. Slowly, she raised from her seat, still warm in the face from embarrassment.

“I’ll need you to educate me more on that flowery language you like so I don’t mess up next time.”

He smiled. Walking out of the library, they noticed the sun was almost setting. Castor looked at his friend, stretching out his hand behind her ear, he caught a bouquet of pink tulips, handing them over so she could grab them. She knew he just summoned those flowers because of the faint purple glow it had and she found it perfect.

Picking one of the tulips, she gave it to him.

Castor looked intently at the flower and raised it in the air, towards the setting sun. “I wish for us to have a good friendship forever.” Like a wish, holding the tulip, he then blew on the soft petals, the flower soon turning into a dandelion, its fluff flowing through the air as a promise for eternity.

**Pink tulips are known for meaning affection, caring, good wishes, and love. Although not as deep or passionate love as red tulips represent. Pink tulips are great to send to friends and family members to show them you care.

Fun fact although he’s AroAce not too unlike his fathers whom I headcanon to be Demiromantic (Sonic) and Demisexual (Shadow) respectively, Castor is ironically a bit of a romantic. He has no interest in pursuing that kind of relationship for himself but finds great pleasure in the beauty love can bring when two or more people find the right match with each other and as a result is quite the matchmaker. With that being said, having relationship issues? Come see Castor! He’ll be sure to steer you into the right direction.

Oh forgot to mention it but Roses actually have different meanings depending on their color and what combination of Roses you decide to go for. For example Red Roses typically represent love and romance while Yellow Roses represent Friendship and Happiness. If you were to combine the two together they’d mean that you have fallen for a dear friend and regardless of what happens you’ll love them no matter what because their presence makes you happy so if you’ve caught feelings for a friend this might make for a pretty nice gift that shows them how much you really care about them. So if you’re going to give someone a Rose whether it be the actual flower or an accessory then I’d look into the meaning behind it’s color first so you can figure out what kind would be best to give.

OMFG 😂 Ok I’m going to have to put this in bulletins cause I have quite a bit to say.

* This is so fucking true like THERE WAS A REASON I had a crush on Sonic as a kid. Him and Vash from Trigun are literal sweet pretty bois who strangely enough are not only pretty similar but also have counterparts who are also pretty similar to each other. (Case in point Sonadow and Vashwood give off the exact same energy and I love it! Both are current couple goals for me istg. Like come on if you aren’t my equal in every sense of the word are we really meant to be?) Who could resist their charms?

* Tails said it not me! Though something I would like to add is that Sonic and Shadow are far more similar than what people truly realize at first glance. They’re pretty different sure but if you look at the finer details you’ll not only discover how similar they are but also the fact that Shadow wouldn’t exist without Sonic! They’re literally made for each and that’s exactly why I think they’d make for such a strong couple because in my eyes they strike that perfect blend of differences and similarities I believe can play a key factor into making a relationship work. That and it’s exactly what I’m looking for in a partner I just haven’t found them yet assuming that person even exists at all.

About Orion: (by @totaleclipse573) Created to carry on and keep the hero/villain balance intact, Orion has been infused with both the powers of the Warp Topaz, and one of the Shards of Chaos (one in a set of gems essentially filled to the brim with negative energy, causing chaotic effects.) He has a massive ego, which tends to land him in situations, and is very intelligent (which only fuels that ego.) He carries a grand amount of respect for his fathers, despite him being near nothing more than a lab rat to them. It's due to this that he, ironically, ends up growing close to the royals of Mobius (Sonally and their children,) one of his top enemies. Something odd about Orion is that he prefers tighter, more claustrophobic spaces, as being put back into the tank he was created from for adjustments has become something familiar. Orion is egotistical, intelligent, sassy, gremlin (because this is 100% a personality trait,) manipulative (you are exempt if he likes you,) determined, and also a bit hard on himself, kept to his inner thoughts. He sets high expectations for himself and they WILL be met any way possible (through his........attempts........at being the villain he knows he's supposed to be.) His abilities are rather interesting, what with the gems he holds the powers of. Simple examples, the one Shard of Chaos allows almost electric energy to flow through him, while the Warp Topaz allows him to teleport and create portals using only his hands. His strange energy also allows him to induce hypnosis, but. Well. He doesn't prefer to use nor acknowledge that one.

About Kaiko: (by @somemismatchedsocks) kaiko is from the past (1910s) and is a empath shepherd. However, when a particularly vicious pack of wolves attacked kaiko he tried to soothe them using his powers but accidentally soothes all of the sheep, wolves, and himself. They end up pulling a sleeping beauty and wake up 100 years later. Shadow + Sonic find him and decide to adopt him bc they are super pitying. (Also his romantic interest is Echo, a character from @a-crow-with-a-pen :DDDDD ) sorry about the cringe backstory lol. He likes apples and sheep and is socially inadequate just like his creator. He has a heart of gold and a huge scaredy-cat but his loyalty is immeasurable. Powerful empathy tho so that’s cool too *thumbs up*

About Gigi: (by @w0lp3rtinger, art by @lambpaca) They are a fancy parakeet Shadow and Amy adopt since they cannot have kids naturally/biologically. They're a feisty, messy, loud child that loves digging in the dirt, bugs, and hearing about her family's crazy adventures. She wants to grow up to be an archeologist.

About Aster: (by @afuntimepartyy) A trouble maker and the eldest of three siblings! Always up to no good and gives silver at least three heart attacks per day, takes after jet the most. Planned to be the Babylon rogues next leader, he shows no sign of any proper leader skills! she's sort of a complete wild card who is very likely to get into fights, being hasty when it comes to poor decision making. Having silvers abilities, the bands silver has were required to maintain asters powers, to make them easier to control. Sometimes he feels as he gets helicoptered too much, which would be the case on silvers end who... well, as the oldest, that is their first child. She is a total "LEAVE ME ALONE, MOM!" type of teenager and has plenty of teen angst. otherwise quite the punk! he is stubborn, and very defiant, if not a bit stupid because of it. She does not care what you say, and it will take an iron will to try and make her care! but deep down, he does greatly care about those close to them, even if sometimes clouded by frustrations they go through. He takes the time to make sure that her younger sibling is accounted for and not left out, and in general shows a lot of affection through her actions. A Strong believer of you need to show you care in your actions. Actions have far more weight than words, after all! There's more to be said about them, though, Ill save that for possibly another time. Don't want too many words here!

About Beau: (by @mischeva) Beau is as suave as they are headstrong. They’re a hopeless romantic who never turns down a good fight. When they aren’t smashing straw dummies to a pulp with their father’s sword, you can usually find them hanging around New Mobotropolis with their friends. They also enjoy playing the guitar along with baking! They derive from Archie Sonic and are apart of my personal spin of the Sonic 25 years later story. They have three other siblings and love them all dearly. Their friends and family always come first!

About Tulip: (by @silvers-starrway) Tulip comes from a doomed timeline, one where everything went horribly wrong. They don’t remember much of where they came from, only that after wishing to be somewhere else they were whisked away through time. They ended up in Silver’s future where the timeline had been saved. Silver ends up finding them in the tulip patch of his garden and ends up naming them after the flower. Tulip is about 50% organic and 50% robot. They still need to eat, though only in small quantities (their favorite food is oranges). They do not need to sleep, instead recharging via an electric plug in the back of their head. They are only able to talk with beeps and other electronic noises. Shadow ends up teaching them morse code and that’s how they communicate with the world. Despite looking like a strange combo of Shadow and Silver’s features, Tulip has no biological connection to either. It’s just a strange coincidence. Tulip has the ability to manipulate probabilities, they aren’t aware of this power but it’s the main reason why they ended up in Shadow and Silver’s timeline.

About Sunshine: (by @yellowvixen) Sunshine pops into existence one day after Sonic and Shadow go super together, seemingly out of nowhere! Turns out she's made of pure chaos energy, but her only powers are glowing and floating a little bit - no matter! She makes up for it in cheerfulness and really lives up to her name. Raising her is a group effort, as her dads are only in their early 20s when she appears and are woefully unprepared for looking after a baby. She spends a great deal of her early life on Angel Island and considers Knuckles and Amy to be parents too. (Tails, Rouge and Omega fall into the fun aunt/uncle category). Surprisingly, she inherits none of her dads' trauma and grows up as a pretty normal kid, despite being made of chaos energy!
