Delays, delays, and more delays! (But also... TAPAS!)
Well everything pretty much went down the toilet after that last post, eh?
If for some reason you think you might have missed our Toronto Comic Con appearance, great news! You didn’t! ... because it was cancelled. Like every other major event of 2020, thanks to that virus that starts with a C that we’re all very sick of (pun not intended). We held out hopes that our second con appearance, at TCAF, might have still gone through, but those hopes were dashed pretty soon after. (You can still experience TCAF 2020 via their digital showcase, which is available for download for free off of Gumroad! Not only are we in there, but there’s tons of other incredible artists and projects that are well worth your time!)
It’s an understatement to say that we’re really bummed about all this. After taking a year off of the con circuit, we were super ready to get back out there and meet you fine folk! All of our fingers are crossed that we’re able to return to some level of normalcy in time for next year’s conventions, which we WILL be attending for sure!
But hey, it’s not all bad, as you can still get your Songs fix in an entirely new way. Presenting...
Tumblr media
That’s right! Thanks to the good folks at Vault and Tapas, you can now read Songs for the Dead in a convenient app-friendly form! We’re very excited to be introduced to the audiences of Tapas, and for anyone here who’s looking to check out the series in a new and exciting way, we invite you to give it a try! Several entries can be read for FREE right now!!
It’s been an absolutely dreadful year so far, let’s be honest, and there’s still another six months to go. We’re hoping to have at least a little bit of good news to share with you... soon.

Did someone say FREE comics?
Can you believe it?  Another cycle of comics and whimsy have come and gone!  Since our last post, The Necromancer’s Map revealed the next steps of our unlikely duo of Bethany and Elissar, furthering their journey to the mysterious Covenant.  As we expressed on some of our other channels, we never expected to reach this point when we started out, and are eternally grateful that we are able to continue sharing this story with you all.
“Ok, but what about the free comics part?”
Yeah yeah, I was just getting to that... so if you’re still on the fence/wondering what this whole “Necromancer’s Map” thing is about, our publisher Vault has let the cool cats at Multiversity Comics publish our entire first issue online.  For free.  So why wait?  Give yourself 15 minutes today to check out some cool fantasy and get hooked as so many others have! (And don’t forget you can also get Songs for the Dead #1 for FREE directly through Vault Comics!)
Tumblr media
The full collection of The Necromancer’s Map will be releasing soon, so keep an eye out at your LCS!
We love you guys, and don’t forget to hug your closest necromancer!  Sometimes they just need a reminder that someone’s rooting for them.

We’re so so close to the release of The Necromancer’s Map #1 and we are super duper excited!!
(Oh yeah, by the way, it’s been awhile, hasn’t it??  How are you?  You look great.  Ok, let’s get back to it, shall we?)
The last few months have been crazy to say the least.  We went to Seattle, hung out with our publisher, did (more than a few) interviews, and did a whole lot of making comics.
Since our initial announcement, we’ve revealed the gorgeous covers for our new #1, which includes a Vault Vintage cover by Tim Daniel, paying homage to the long-standing fantasy series Elfquest!
We can’t wait to continue Bethany and Elissar’s journey with you all!

Fan Expo Canada 2018 and Songs for the Dead Vol. 1!
Tumblr media
Well quite a few things have happened since our last update!
This year, we made the decision not to table at Fan Expo Canada.  But we naturally couldn’t miss our first opportunity in ages to enjoy the con as fans, which is exactly what we did!  We saw lots of great art and great people, but what was a pretty big highlight for us was MEETING THE FIRST EVER BETHANY COSPLAYER OMGGGGG
Lizzie and her husband have turned out some excellent cosplays - which you should definitely go and check out! - but working so hard to put together what is an incredibly accurate Bethany outfit is something that really meant the world to us.  We’ll never forget seeing that kind of dedication to our little story!
Tumblr media
And speaking of our little story, we’re really excited to tell you that the first trade paperback of Songs for the Dead will be available NEXT WEEK!  It will contain Issues #1 - #4, along with some bonus artwork and cover gallery.  We’ve seen the prints in person and they look incredible, so you’re in for a treat if you happen to pick one up!  And you should.  You really really should.
We’ll be doing some signings in and around Toronto, so we’d love it if you’d come out and celebrate with us!  Keep an eye on our usual spots for details about the events!

Hi! I work at a comic shop and we have some of your pins and the comics, but I wanted to support you/the series in other ways (that don't include gushing to all my friends). Do you have like a Patreon. KickStarter. GoFundMe, etc.?
Hey!  Thanks for the love! :D
Honestly, the best thing you (or anyone) can do to support Songs is telling other people about it (as you’ve already been doing!), and letting our publisher know that you want to see more of it!  The Vault team are awesome people, and they take any kind of feedback to heart.
And hey, if you’d like more posters/pins/etc. to give out at your store, drop us a line and we can see about making it happen!

That ending was pretty opened ended, any chance for a vol 2?
We’re not ready to announce anything yet, but we definitely have more story to tell!  Hopefully we’ll have more details to offer about the future of Songs in the coming months.

MTL Comic-Con and Songs for the Dead #4 (finally!!!!!!!)
Tumblr media
This month marked our final convention appearance for the year, and we decided to close things out with a bang at Montreal Comic-Con!  This show has been high on our list ever since we started making comics, so finally getting to table there was a big milestone for us.  The people were great, and we had the privilege of meeting so many other talented people.  The trip was beyond worth it, and we hope to be back soon!
Tumblr media
So that thing that we’ve been talking about since last year?  The thing you’ve been waiting for, and we’ve been waiting for?  That thing ... is finally happening.
Yes, you’ll finally be able to get Issue #4 of Songs for the Dead in your hands this month.  This story wraps up the first arc of Songs for the Dead, and we can tell you that it’s definitely a doozy.  The script for #4 has been written for almost two years now, and we can’t wait to hear what you all think of it!  If you haven’t already, tell your LCS to add it to your pull list!
