A crowdfunding appeal has been launched to help a 29-year-old Black trans woman who lost both her legs after allegedly being thrown onto NYC subway tracks by her boyfriend.
A statement from the New York City District Attorney confirms that the victim and her boyfriend were at the Fulton St. station in Brooklyn when the man is said to have seen the oncoming downtown train coming and “thrown” his girlfriend towards the tracks.
“The victim was rushed to the hospital, where both of her legs had to be amputated. She also suffered from fractures to her ribs and a blood clot in her lungs,” the statement continues.
When the police arrived, they found the woman under the train, reports Into.
The woman has since taken part in an interview with trans activist Hope Giselle, and explains that she was on her way to a gender-affirming appointment when she alleges that she and her boyfriend got into an argument and he “threw” her onto the tracks.

I’m so sick of seeing videos and posts of a bunch of privileged college students who decided to make a geopolitical conflict their whole personality and who view college as a LARPing opportunity instead of fucking school. You just know they wouldn’t be screaming about this if they had any actual hobbies or any ideology besides what’s popular online and what pisses off their parents. It’s all about a radikewl aesthetic while affecting absolutely nothing in the real world. And now with Columbia University’s rabbi urging Jewish students to stay away from campus because it’s unsafe, what the fuck have these LARPers done other than harass Jews off campus instead of going to class in their “Gaza solidarity encampment” (AKA their excuse to skip class and not do assignments)? People in Gaza are still hungry and displaced, Hamas still has hostages, but don’t worry, guys! Students at Columbia are being antisemitic by praising 10/7 and cosplaying anarchy instead of going to class “for Palestine”!
They’re just insufferable, and their First Amendment rights don’t exempt them from the rest of us judging them for their actions

Yes, today is the first day of Passover!
Passover is the week-long festival which celebrates the Exodus of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Some will have a second Seder tonight.
Throughout the days of Passover, many Jews will abstain from eating “chametz,” defined as any food containing wheat, oats, rye, barley, or spelt, save for the unleavened matzos bread. Some also refrain from eating “Kitniyot,” including corn, rice, and beans.
Additionally, the Counting of the Omer begins tonight at nightfall.
The Counting of the Omer is a verbal count with a blessing of each of the seven weeks (49 days) between Passover and Shavuot. The purpose of this is to stand in anticipation of the Torah.

Today is Erev Pesach, Passover begins at sunset!
Passover, or “Pesach” in Hebrew, is the holiday which celebrates the Exodus of the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt.
Preparations for the holiday will often continue throughout the day, as the first Seder is tonight. A Seder is an orchestrated festive meal, which includes lots of food, singing, the story of the Passover, and other rituals.
During Passover there is a different set of dietary restrictions, which forbids Chametz, leavened bread products. On Erev Pesach, there is customs to burn all such products in your home, and recite a special blessing to “nullify” them.
Some observe T'anit Bechorot, The Fast of the First Born, from daybreak to sunset today.

I recently spent one night in the ER and 3 subsequent nights in the hospital.
During my time in the ER, a nurse said I was “circling the drain” and my body temp dropped to 95/96 degrees…. I don’t even know how I’m still alive. But they said I was a fighter.
I had a horrible case of covid along with thyroid related health issues, and my potassium had dropped dangerously low. I was throwing up nonstop for days, even in the hospital, even with anti-nausea medications. They had to withhold food, water, and even ice chips from me for days.
I cannot count how many IV and other bags of fluid I got. A million blood tests, blood thinners, medications, poking and prodding. Now, I am slowly recovering, but still experiencing the end effects of covid, along with a rapidly racing heartbeat and other symptoms as a result of my imbalanced thyroid.
I am in dire financial straits, in the middle of a move, and trying to get (me and) my puppy out of an abusive situation.
I will likely be going between my parents’ home (where I am now), my brother’s apartment, and my cousin’s apartment. My parents’ home is not a safe place, I’ve experienced a lot of abuse at their hands, and even in the bedroom I’m staying in now.
My car is at my old place, and I will hopefully retrieve it tomorrow (Nov. 19th) along with other clothes, shoes, books, etc. I have next to no energy but I need to take what I can.
Honestly, I don’t know what else to say except I really fucking need help. I’m willing to explain more about my situation in private, not that there’s much more to say.

I can edit essays, tutor, do social media management, do art commissions, and my friend has graciously offered to do pet portraits on my behalf to raise funds. If my car AC is fixed I can Uber or deliver. If y’all have any other ideas for earning I’m all ears.

Isn't it so interesting that people can examine certain scholars' writings critically and acknowledge where they were wrong or limited, while also not throwing away all of their ideas, except when it comes to feminists? As soon as a woman says anything remotely problematic, people throw her and the entire movement away. Men aren't ever held up to this standard, though. Funny.
