Vent post cause we need to get shit out
Why can we never keep friendships? Any time we get close to people and genuinely enjoy spending time with them, our brain eventually starts making us question everything about the friendship
It just builds and builds until we start pulling away even if nothing actually happened to make us question the friendship
It happens with irl and online friends and we fucking hate it
It’s like there’s some nagging feeling that they secretly don’t like us, or that we’ve said or done things that upset them and they just didn’t tell us, even if there’s absolutely no evidence of either thing being true
It’s probably from our childhood experiences with similar things but still… we know these people aren’t like them yet our brain treats them like they are
And then there’s the fear that us pulling away for no real reason other than our brain being a Bitch makes the other person think that we hate them or something, which couldn’t be farther from the truth, then that just makes things completely fall apart
We don’t want to pull away from people but it always ends up happening no matter how hard we try to avoid it or counter those thoughts and feelings that cause it
God, why does childhood trauma have to fuck up our life so badly

tw// Discussion of Pro-Israel propaganda and the genocide in Palestine
Okay... as a Sonic fan, I cannot recommend the Knuckles series. Sure, the plot's not good... but there's a much more disturbing reason: The Pro-Israel propaganda (Especially Episode 3).
In the episode, we meet Wade's (Knuckles' friend) family, and they (particularly the mother) make a big deal about being from Israel... they go really far with it. If it was just them being Jewish/it was only the religious traditions, that would be different. However, it is pointed out that the mother is from Israel, and the episode REALLY paints the country in a positive light. Considering the genocide Israel is committing in Palestine at the moment... it is clear why this is problematic.
In addition, they also compare Knuckles'/the Echidna Tribe backstory to Jewish culture (and even make a Holocaust joke) which is so wrong for so many reasons. As a whole, the episode made me very uncomfortable the whole time.
I am having a hard time processing the fact one of my favorite series did something like this. Sonic the Hedgehog characters, especially someone like Knuckles, would NEVER support a genocide... they're always supposed to defend those who can't help themselves. Yet this episode... seeing Knuckles connect with a person from Israel who's portrayed as innocent/inspiring... it feels REALLY messed up to me.
Also, Paramount delayed this series from late 2023 to early 2024... which makes me worried that this could've had something to do with it. Either way, please do not watch the Knuckles series. Especially without pirating.

Hey, how about instead of using that stupid nickname, you actually do research on what delusions actually MEAN, and NOT be ableist to those who DO suffer from it.
To start, delusional means someone who is holding a belief or altered reality that is persistently held despite evidence or agreement to the contrary, generally in reference to a mental disorder. People can't be talked out of their strongly held belief even if it is completely nonsensical. They typically cause a disturbance to your life, unlike something you enjoy.
Delusions are not "These characters are canon to the AU hehehe!"
At this point, I'm getting frustrated about this that I'm considering deleting the ask blog entirely if you guys keep this shit up.
People with mental disorders (especially schizophrenia, narcissism, psychosis, etc) are often demonized or ridiculed in media, and shit like "OMG, I'm sooo delulu!" DOES NOT HELP THOSE WHO DO HAVE THOSE DISORDERS.
And I can "take away your delulu" because YOURE NOT FUCKING DELUSIONAL, the shit you said is a daydream, it's a conscious choice.
Actual delusions are not conscious choices, it is something a person has whether they want it or not.
Celebrity crushes are not delusions.
Opinions about oneself or others are not delusions.
Beliefs that certain characters are canon to my fucking AU are not delusions.
For anyone who wants it, there is a really informative post by schizopositivity that I'll link down below about the topic, and they actually do a lot of research about mental disorders like schizophrenia, so go check them out.
