I always inspect newly downloaded CC in S4Studio to make sure it looks right, that I actually want to keep it, and maybe change stuff such as categories. This is still the most shocking example I've come across. Can't remember who made it, this is not meant to call out a specific creator.
But 28k polygons? Are you serious? Right in front of my salad??
the skyrim horse has less than 5000 polygons.
an entire horse.
I just feel like that's an interesting fact that the sims community should know before they make or download a 40,000 poly pair of pants.

1ļøā£ Part one: I usually do a combination. I find a lot that's close to what I want on the Gallery, and then change and redecorate depending on what I need. If I need something really special, I'll build it from the ground up, but that's rare because it takes so much time, I already spend entire days on set design and clutter š
2ļøā£ Part two: most of the homes in my story have changed over time. Both Eric's house in Brindleton Bay and Freya and Samuel's house in Copperdale have been redecorated a few times, as more kids arrived or when they left again. Freya's old room in Eric's house is now a guest room, and Freya and Samuel have turned Julia's old room back into a nursery for when their grandson Grayson is visiting. With five grown children who will probably be visiting with their own families in the future, they're gonna need all the guest rooms they can fit into the house.
I do have some vague plans to build my own savefile from scratch at some point, but I need more hours in the day! Of the savefiles I've tried, though, my favourites have been The Ratsave by @ratboysims and the Portsim save file by @florwal so shoutout to those ā¤ļø

oc deep dive with Paul Romeo
What uncommon/common fear do they have? Paul's fears are mostly common things like losing the people he loves. He also has a minor phobia of needles, so while he likes the idea of tattoos, he never got any himself.
Do they have any pet peeves? It annoys him deeply when people are flaky, late, or keep changing their mind. He respects people who keep their promises and stand by their convictions, even if he disagrees with them.
What are 3 items you can find in their bedroom? Lots of books, especially fantasy, sci-fi and comic books but also non-fiction. Condoms and lube. A large television because the best way to watch movies is in bed.
What do they notice first in a person? How they move. Paul is a very visual person and appreciates beauty, and people who move with elegance and confidence always catch his attention. Personality-wise, their sense of humour. Paul cannot deal with people who don't have a sense of humour.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how high is their pain tolerance? 8. He does his own stunts and spends a lot of time in the gym, physical pain is just the body's warning sign and a temporary inconvenience.
Do they go into fight or flight mode when under pressure? Fight. It takes a lot to make Paul truly angry, he's a pretty calm and controlled person, but if he had to defend someone he loves, he would do anything.
Do they come from a big family/are they a family person? His mother didn't have much family when she left Henford behind so he doesn't know any relatives on her side. His father comes from a huge and influential Tartosan family and had 4 brothers and a sister, so Paul has lots of aunts, uncles and cousins. He is very much a family person and is getting increasingly worried that it might soon be too late to start his own.
What animal represents them best? A lion.
What is a smell that they dislike? Sambuca. Remember the first time you got so drunk that you threw up and now you can never drink that again? Paul remembers.
Have they broken any bones? During his career as Llama Man (and doing most of his own stunts), Paul has broken a couple of fingers, his collarbone, and a few toes, but nothing that didn't heal up nicely, thankfully.
How would a stranger likely describe them? Charismatic and funny. It takes a while to discover that Paul is actually surprisingly introverted, his career considered.
Are they a night owl or a morning bird? Paul has no problem getting up early if he has to, but he likes staying up late just to talk, read or watch a movie, or have sex.
What is a flavor they hate and a flavor they love? Paul is not picky when it comes to food in general, but he is one of those unfortunately people who can't eat cilantro because it tastes like soap to him. He loves a good quality olive oil and will put it on everything. Yes, even vanilla ice cream. With sea salt. You should try it.
Do they have any hobbies? Watching B-movies; the worse they are, the better. Reading. He used to ride his uncle's horses a lot before he moved to Del Sol Valley, and he'll still go for a ride when he visits Tartosa if he can.
Boom, surprise birthday party! How do they react to surprises? Paul isn't too fond of the unexpected, so he might initially not be too excited. But he'd still be happy that his loved ones thought of him and wanted to celebrate him, so he'd get over it quickly and enjoy himself.
Do they like to wear jewelry? The only "jewelry" Paul wears is his father's priced gold watch. He's been wearing it since his father's funeral and takes extremely good care of it. He would very much like to wear a wedding ring too some day...
Do they have neat or messy handwriting? Pretty neat. His signature is very fancy because he practiced it a lot for autographs.
What are two emotions they feel the most? Confidence and yearning.
Do they have a favorite fabric? Satin. Paul loves luxury and comfort, and satin hits the spot for both texture and aesthetics. His sheets and bedding is mostly satin.
What kind of accent do they have? As a voice actor, Paul has tried to rid himself of most of his natural accent, but especially after visiting home, a bit of Tartosan sneaks back in. He also tends to have a slight Henford accent from his mother, but he can mostly switch in and out of voices and accents at will.

To change things up a little, we're going with Hailey Duchelli.
1 - Hailey was Freya and Samuel's first child, and was a daddy's girl from the start. She was hit the hardest by the divorce and missed daddy Samuel a lot when he moved out. It took her a long time to trust that her parents were staying together the second time.
2 - She has inherited Freya's talent and love for all kinds of sports. She was especially good at running track and earned a full scholarship ride when she went to university.
3 - Hailey has serious Oldest Sister Syndrome and is very sensible and responsible. She always focuses on other people's well-being and struggles to put herself first.
4 - She met her husband, Mark, at the local school where they both work. Mark is a nutritionist and Hailey works as a gym teacher. Luckily, Mark is very good at taking care of her when she forgets to take care of herself.
5 - Hailey is the one who looks the most like Freya out of all of the five siblings, and just like Freya, she dreams of having a huge family. She and Mark only have Grayson so far, but he probably won't be the last.

Julia may be having a hard time right now, but it's generally Paul. He prefers stability and routine and doesn't like taking risks, which can be rough as an actor. He has been fighting himself for years now about whether to return to acting on screen, and the final season of Llama Man: The Animated Series is about to end so he'll have to find something else to do soon...
Who has ridiculous dreams?
Paul. Ever since his father died, he's had a tendency to have nightmares when he's under pressure. His biggest fears are about losing control, so his worst dreams are about falling forever, being unable to help a loved one in danger, or about things he wants but can't have. We'll actually be hearing more about Paul's dreams later!
Who has the strangest desires?
Maybe not too strange but Paul has a serious weakness for a woman in heels - and if she keeps them on in bed, he will not complain. He usually prefers being in control in everything, but on the rare occasion that someone takes control of him, he's undone. He was ready to propose to Julia after New Year's Eve for a reason. Julia has yet to fully discover her kinks...

Introduction
Hi! I'm an anonymous asker who sends fellow simmers questions. "Simblr Question of the Day" is something I saw going on around September '23 and I wanted to revive this "trend"! After a bit, some simmers suggested a SQOTD blog, to which I agreed and finally did it! I can broaden my asking horizons to blogs w/o anons now :)
I'm going to continue preserving my anonymity, but I'd like to share some basics about me ! ~
You can call me squat or squatty! A name I chose based on the way I pronounce "SQOTD," You can also call me SQOTD Anon! I like the colors yellow and pink/red, I've been playing the sims since I was 5 and I like to read and write :)
And below the cut will include a little rundown of how I will run this blog and navigation hashtags ~
-I will queue a question for once a day around 4am-5am PST, I will try to vary the type of questions (builds/renders/cas/sims/ocs).
-Interact with these posts in anyway you prefer: reblog, reply or a separate post! (make sure to tag me ;p)
-I FULLY encourage YOU to continue sending asks with SQOTDs (crediting/tagging me is optional). I don't expect every simblr to know about this blog and SQOTD is intended to be a community thing, so while this blog will extend SQOTD reach, asks will spread even further

I had made a gameplay guide on my old blog & recently got asked about it, so I revamped it a little and also created a notion page/site to host the guide on! It is organized and super easy to use.
this guide is has photo editing resources, advice & gameplay mod recommendations! this is essentially for the simmers who tend to get bored or lost when playing sims 4. There are some tips I share to make gameplay more fun and interesting, also some tips from other simmers that I link that share some sim advice too. I hope this is helpful to some people! If you ever have questions regarding sim gameplay and stuff like that send me an ask! I can always share more advice with you all :D

Idiot.
The voice in my head is persistent. Itās been over two months but itās not letting up.
I try to focus on the lines, struggling to keep the faint remnants of my Tartosan accent from creeping into Llama Manās commanding voice. Itās always more difficult just after Iāve been home.
Idiot.
Images from the last year keep flashing by, little details seared into my brain. Her green eyes. Her smile. The delicate birthmarks artfully strewn across her face. I used to insist on kissing each of them goodbye before I left and it always made her laugh.
It was the best sound in the world.
Idiot.
The more recent images are a different story. Her tears. The look of shock and confusion in her eyes. She didnāt understand, of course, and some days Iām not sure I do either. Am I an idiot for leaving her? Or for letting myself fall in love with her in the first place?
Both?
āAlright, Paul, that was good, but letās do an extra take just to be sure.ā
I nod at the sound technician and start over.
āIāve sent the files off to Mike. Personally, I donāt think heāll demand another round, the last two takes were flawless.ā
āThanks. Iām sorry for dragging you in for pick-ups again, Iāve been feeling a bit off lately.ā
āHey, itās a pay check. And Iām going to need it for the move. We want to get settled into the new house before my sonās wedding so weāre already packing.ā
āDid you find a job in Henford yet?ā
āNot yet, but my wife got an offer. Weāll make it work. My kid is the only family I have left, so if he moves abroad, we follow. And I never liked staying in one place for too long anyway, I get restless.ā
āWell, best of luck over there, Charles. The new sound tech will have some big shoes to fill.ā
āThanks, Paul. Itās been a pleasure working with you.ā
Charles leaves, and I turn on the coffee machine.
Iāve just finished pouring two mugs when Lee arrives.
āOh, you must have read my mind, love, I am positively dying for a coffee right now.ā
āWhen are you not?ā
Lee settles onto the sofa with a sigh.
āItās been one of those weeks, deadlines put such a damper on my creativity. But how was Tartosa? Did you have a nice birthday?ā
āIt was fine. I didnāt feel like making it a huge thing, but my mother had arranged a family dinner at the vineyard.ā
āAh, just an intimate and completely non-threatening gathering with fifteen to twenty people, then.ā
I lean back against the counter and take a long sip of the coffee to avoid responding. Itās still too hot, and I grimace as the liquid burns my mouth.Ā Idiot.
Lee isnāt so easily deterred, though.
āSo, thatās it? Youāre just never going to see her again?ā
āLee, first of all, she blocked me. On my birthday, no less. So Iām going to take that as a big fat hint and respect her wishes. Second, I broke up with her because it was a dead end. Sheās not going to settle down for another decade, and when she does, sheās not going to pick some fifty year old relic.ā
Lee raises an eyebrow.
āI beg your pardon?ā
āYeah, I said it. Sorry to break it to you, Lee, but youāre old. Ancient. Practically dust.ā
āIām choosing to ignore your hurtful remarks because youāre clearly heartbroken and out of your mind with grief.ā
I snort. āSorry. Iām fine, really, Iām just annoyed at myself.ā
āFor irrationally breaking up with the love of your life or for stubbornly refusing to reconsider?ā
āFor being an idiot in general, I guess. I knew it was a bad idea. I even told her as much the first time I met her. But then I just had to go back and talk to her again like a complete dumbass and she practically invited herself back to my hotel. How could I say no to that?ā
Lee chuckles. āOh, but you couldnāt, of course you couldnāt. I mean, sheās not exactly my type, but I can still appreciate theĀ aesthetics, as it were.ā
āRight? And that might even have been fine if it never went any further, but I got carried away and kept seeing her even though everyone could tell it was going to end badly. Weāre both better off like this, Iāll get over it.ā
Lee just looks at me over the rim of his glasses.
āAre you sure? I may be a dusty old relic but as far as Iām aware, the only way you could possibly know that she blocked you is if you spent your birthday trying to look her up.ā
āThanks, detective. It was a moment of weakness, you donāt need to rub it in my face.ā
āIām not trying to rub anything in your face, love, I know itās not your thing. But you were clearly serious about her if you were planning to bring her to Tartosa. And just because the poor girl understandably got slightly intimidated, you drop her like a newborn giraffe. Why not give her some more time?ā
āI didnātā¦ Lee, it was the sensible thing to do! I just turned forty, I canāt just spend years waiting for her to make up her mind and hope for the best.ā
āI donāt share your fetish for monogamy, but I believe all relationships are like that, you can never be certain. But youāve always been stubborn so Iāll just give you the usual break-up advice. Get a haircut, hit the gym, put yourself back out there. Will you at least see my stylist?ā

Definitely Cora when she gets frustrated and loses her patience. Zane is more likely to teach them horrific puns (which will just make Cora swear even more š«£)

Tragically, Paul. Who absolutely cannot sing to save his life, but that never stopped him. He's aware that he's terrible though, so he mostly sings when he's alone - or if he gets drunk enough.

They never really argued until the breakup. They had minor disagreements, such as how to handle being in the public eye, and they're kinda both wrong there. But they'll learn...
Paul definitely knows how to treat a woman and considers this an essential part of the act! Julia gladly reciprocates but she has much less experience. She gets points for enthusiasm and willingness to learn, though! š«£
Watching old movies. They both have a soft spot for B-movies and shitty monster or superhero movies, but you can't take them anywhere because they will comment loudly and make jokes the entire time to make each other laugh.
Paul definitely snores the loudest. Julia may snore a little sometimes, but Paul would never tell her that.
Paul, definitely. He comes from a large and pretty wealthy family in Tartosa, and he could retire and just live off the money he's made on the Llama Man franchise. He only keeps working because he likes it and wouldn't know what else to do with his time.
Julia once managed to burn noodles. Don't ask. Paul, on the other hand, grew up in the kitchen with his grandmother and is the kind of person who insists on making the pasta from scratch. He definitely has at least one secret family sauce recipe.
Julia might forget things if she gets distracted by something shiny, whereas Paul has excellent memory, probably from memorising all those lines.
Both Paul and Julia are very visual people who appreciate beauty and finer things in life. They're equally likely to stop in a particular scenic spot to take in the view. You can tell that Julia isn't feeling like herself when she gets messy, whereas Paul tends to get minimalistic under pressure to reduce visual clutter.
Julia is very fashion-aware and tends to be pretty stylish. Paul is less interested in fashion and tends to stick to safe, classical menswear like shirts and suits, but Julia is probably itching to update his wardrobe a tiny bit.

āThanks. Iām sorry for dragging you in for pick-ups again, Iāve been feeling a bit off lately.ā
āHey, itās a pay check. And Iām going to need it for the move. We want to get settled into the new house before my sonās wedding so weāre already packing.ā
āDid you find a job in Henford yet?ā
āNot yet, but my wife got an offer. Weāll make it work. My kid is the only family I have left, so if he moves abroad, we follow. And I never liked staying in one place for too long anyway, I get restless.ā
āWell, best of luck over there, Charles. The new sound tech will have some big shoes to fill.ā
āThanks, Paul. Itās been a pleasure working with you.ā
Charles leaves, and I turn on the coffee machine.
Iāve just finished pouring two mugs when Lee arrives.
āOh, you must have read my mind, love, I am positively dying for a coffee right now.ā
āWhen are you not?ā
Lee settles onto the sofa with a sigh.
āItās been one of those weeks, deadlines put such a damper on my creativity. But how was Tartosa? Did you have a nice birthday?ā
āIt was fine. I didnāt feel like making it a huge thing, but my mother had arranged a family dinner at the vineyard.ā
āAh, just an intimate and completely non-threatening gathering with fifteen to twenty people, then.ā
I lean back against the counter and take a long sip of the coffee to avoid responding. Itās still too hot, and I grimace as the liquid burns my mouth.Ā Idiot.
Lee isnāt so easily deterred, though.
āSo, thatās it? Youāre just never going to see her again?ā
āLee, first of all, she blocked me. On my birthday, no less. So Iām going to take that as a big fat hint and respect her wishes. Second, I broke up with her because it was a dead end. Sheās not going to settle down for another decade, and when she does, sheās not going to pick some fifty year old relic.ā
Lee raises an eyebrow.
āI beg your pardon?ā
āYeah, I said it. Sorry to break it to you, Lee, but youāre old. Ancient. Practically dust.ā
āIām choosing to ignore your hurtful remarks because youāre clearly heartbroken and out of your mind with grief.ā
I snort. āSorry. Iām fine, really, Iām just annoyed at myself.ā
āFor irrationally breaking up with the love of your life or for stubbornly refusing to reconsider?ā
āFor being an idiot in general, I guess. I knew it was a bad idea. I even told her as much the first time I met her. But then I just had to go back and talk to her again like a complete dumbass and she practically invited herself back to my hotel. How could I say no to that?ā
Lee chuckles. āOh, but you couldnāt, of course you couldnāt. I mean, sheās not exactly my type, but I can still appreciate theĀ aesthetics, as it were.ā
āRight? And that might even have been fine if it never went any further, but I got carried away and kept seeing her even though everyone could tell it was going to end badly. Weāre both better off like this, Iāll get over it.ā
Lee just looks at me over the rim of his glasses.
āAre you sure? I may be a dusty old relic but as far as Iām aware, the only way you could possibly know that she blocked you is if you spent your birthday trying to look her up.ā
āThanks, detective. It was a moment of weakness, you donāt need to rub it in my face.ā
āIām not trying to rub anything in your face, love, I know itās not your thing. But you were clearly serious about her if you were planning to bring her to Tartosa. And just because the poor girl understandably got slightly intimidated, you drop her like a newborn giraffe. Why not give her some more time?ā
āI didnātā¦ Lee, it was the sensible thing to do! I just turned forty, I canāt just spend years waiting for her to make up her mind and hope for the best.ā
āI donāt share your fetish for monogamy, but I believe all relationships are like that, you can never be certain. But youāve always been stubborn so Iāll just give you the usual break-up advice. Get a haircut, hit the gym, put yourself back out there. Will you at least see my stylist?ā
āNever. I am not brave enough to let Jessica Clemons near my wardrobe.ā
