Story time!

I am a geek in so many ways. My love for gadgets started when I was a kid, always envious of classmates’ Gameboys, mobile phones, laptops and cameras. We couldn’t afford such but my friends were always willing to lend me their toys. Haha. As I started my working life and earned my own money, I splurged on gadgets! But that was several years ago before I encountered minimalism. Lolz. Or I just got old. I still like gadgets and it takes me so much effort to resist buying newly released tech. It’s not good for my wallet, and for Mother Earth! Haha. And I still have too many gadgets gathering dust somewhere.

These are some of my old stuff from many years ago. 1. A DSLR I used to take a photo of a person taking a video of a concert using a point-and-shoot digital camera. This was just an entry-level camera, it was my first time to buy something that costs over 10K…I think. Haha. I also had a Samsung digicam at the same time because I was passionate about taking photos back then. 2. Two phones back when dual sim phones were not a thing (I had a Sun and a Globe number….now I’m on Smart haha). A Motorola flip phone and a Nokia xxxx phone. Pre-smartphone but already in the camera phone era (although photo and video quality were basically trash hahaha) 3. My beloved iPod classic, the latest generation before they stopped producing them. I named this Haruki because it was around the same time I got obsessed with Haruki Murakami. (Ugh I actually hate this song but it was on my library haha) 4. My first personal laptop, which is actually a “netbook” from HP. Netbooks were a thing then, you used them for simple things like Facebook haha. I loved how sleek and small this was, but it was so slow so I eventually got tired of it HAHA.

These are not really old tech…but tech has greatly improved in the past 10 years that all of these could be replaced by 1 smartphone now.

I still hate Mondays. And WFH makes it worse because it's so easy to give in to the blues. Grateful to have pushed through today with the help of coffee, and several 10-minute breaks in the middle of calls and tasks.

This was last weekend's road trip to the tip of Cebu South. Didn't swim, but I enjoyed being near the ocean. I needed all the negative ions.

I don't know how many days we are into our 14-day isolation due to COVID-19. I pass the days rewatching LOTR and reading Harry Potter from the beginning.
