The Atlas Six
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ੈ♡˳ The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake
I've always liked fantasy books. Books you could dive into, new worlds you could discover. I've wanted to read The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake for a long, long time. The book has been sitting on my bookshelf for three months (whoops? 😗). Finally got some time to start a new book, and oh boy did I like this one!
The secret Alexandrian society gathers 6 of the best medeians, sort of magicians, let's say. They're offered the place in the society, without knowledge almost unlimited. But here's the catch; only five will make it.
I love multi povs book! To be honest, it does mess with you a little bit in this book, especially when it comes to certain povs.
The characters are all so beautifully written, their development is visible and that's great. If there's one thing I should say that did bother me, but then again, I do realize it's there because it fits in the story; I feel like some characters are more described than others. For example, Nico and Libby absolutely have my heart. (Olivie, if you see this, please do they get together in the second book?) Parisa was quite well hidden for a long way through the book, and I feel like Reina is still the one covered by mystery.
The plot twist! Oh, here are the spoilers if you haven't read it yet. Ezra!? I read that chapter, the connection between him and Atlas, put the book down and walked around the house for few minutes. Mind blowing.
One more thing I love! The little stories at the end! They're absolutely adorable. Also, I love the pictures of each character.
So in the end:
⭐⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A few thoughts so far (read about 300 pages for now) of The Atlas Six!
may contain spoilers!!
Characters are quite nicely explained and developed, I think. When I started the book, Parisa was my least favourite, and now she's really better. You can feel the process of revealing her personality, psychology, whatever you'd like to call it. A real character development.
Oh my god I literally start smiling every time Nico and Libby say something to eachother!! I absolutely adore their dynamic, and I'm so sure they're gonna end up together soon, that I'm starting to feel delusional. Give me that enemies to lovers, please!!
Wait, wait. Dalton. That guy is so mysterious and like? Is he trying to help Parisa but is he even allowed to do that? What about Atlas? It seems to me like he just dissapeared in last 100 pages.
I think, like I said in the beggining, characters are getting more interesting as time passes, but it seems to me that Callum is still so... unexplained? I'm not sure if that's supposed to be like that, but I feel like I know everyone but him by now. We'll see, I guess.
And, yeah, I'm loving the book so far!

I've read about 100 pages of The Atlas Six so far, so here are some things I think will happen!
Nico and Libby are gonna have enemies to lovers, I just feel it.
Something is seriously wrong with Parisa. I don't like her.
Reina holds way more power than she allows others to see. She'll do something special later on.
Tristan and Callum will get together and do something and others will get mad.
Dalton is gonna fall under Parisa's magic, I think he might die for some reason.
Libby and Ezra are gonna break up because he can't wait for her that long.

Madame Curie and the power of a dream (Madame Curie und die Kraft zu träumen)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One thing you should know is that I read mostly fiction. When I do read a non-fiction book, it'll probably be a classic novel or some cheesy romance book. This book is neither of those, but it's absolutely painfully beautiful.
It's written in the third person, but there's a lot of talk about feelings and thoughts and such. I think that a lot of people first think of chemistry and Nobel awards when they hear someone say the name of madame Curie. Which is totally understandable, and I think she would be proud to be remembered this way.
Susanna Leonard, the author of this book, took her information from other books, one of them being the biography of madame Curie written by madame's daughter, Eve. I'd say this is exactly why the book feels kind of personal, I believe.
You get to know the life of madame Curie, how her family called her Mania. You get to know how hard her childhood was, really, and how she made a deal with her sister Bronia to share money so they could both study in France. You get to see her love, and be loved. But also get heartbroken, heal and learn how to feel again.
Madame Curie is presented as not only a scientist, but someone who had a lot of effect on other people's life, and not only profesionally. While reading, you get this feeling of being a part of her life and seeing how she spent her days, the good ones and the bad ones.
I learnt a lot from this book, and I found myself crying at the end of it. If you want to know more about madame Marie Curie and who she really was, at least what she was described as, I definitely reccomend reading!
a small review!
