And at that moment a chill wind suddenly swept through the air.
This was the cutest part of the podcast
But....

The nuance in this episode is astounding. I’m really proud of DuckTales for digging so deep into such an important topic.
“If Uncle Donald was seeing you, why is he still the angriest guy we know?”: DuckTales and mental health
Because mental health issues are often chronic- it’s not something you “cure.” Dewey doesn’t know that yet. Donald wasn’t able to erase his anger issues, but he was able to examine them. He was able to figure out why he was so angry. (I’m going to cry a lot because Donald fears that the world’s out to get him and he’s misunderstood). And he was able to manage his fear and anger and channel this into protecting his family.
Most mental health issues aren’t things you cure. They’re things you learn to live with. A good therapist helps you determine strategies to manage it- which Jones does.
This is positive representation for mental health and therapy on so many levels! We see a man willing to visit a therapist so he can become a better father. And we see that Donald’s learned coping strategies to manage his anger and fear. Best dad!! ♥️♥️♥️😭😭😭
ALSO it takes a lot of long, hard work to go to therapy!! It takes courage and vulnerability and a lot of practice as you develop coping skills. It’s not easy, and I speak from experience. Donald Fauntleroy Duck DID THAT. For his kids and for himself!!! Best dad and strongest duck!! ♥️♥️ It really does make him the most daring adventurer of all time.

Wow. That just punched my gut.
Is Louie’s fixation with money/get-rich-quick schemes in any way related to him growing up in a lower income household and/or watching Donald struggle to keep down a job?
That was the initial idea in terms of his (and the other boys’) characterization. Louie became fixated on money and luxury because they were always broke, Huey became hyper-responsible because Donald was so frequently overwhelmed and needed the help, and Dewey acted out because Donald put so much emphasis on trying to protect them and achieving some form of normalcy that Dewey wanted to stand out any way he could.
