I'll never be able to make an OC as pretty as this one, I fear. He's perfect.

here's a story: you grow up with the knowledge that you're different, no one needs to tell you this, they do it anyway
it's in their eyes, and in yours. you watch the trees, your heart is prickly with bark, renewing. you learn to accept it, you say with a bitter smile: I'm not human.
there's pride in it, you wear it like a crown of thorns, and then one day you feel something dripping down your arms, you take your shaky hands and find they're covered in blood, trying to pry away your nobility.
one day you wake up human, with your heavy grief, and heavier wanting. but no one taught you to take. you approach love like a stray dog seeking shelter, you wait by the door, sneak in when no one's looking, and run back into the rain when someone realizes.

Despite it all, you are alive. You can still taste the guilt but, God, can you taste the wonder! Like honey, thick in your throat, you came out of it scarred and strange, with skittish limbs and a weary heart, and still, as certain as the rising sun, you love! You are alive, you feel the wind, you hear the ocean calling your name! You meet new people and, as hopeless as anything, you learn to love them, how human of you! To crave someone's company, to sit by them and listen to whatever they want to say, to love, despite the darkness, despite the goodbye. You accept the burden of grief as a consequence of the warmth of love,
Spend your life denying it or learn to embrace it, either way you're human! You raise your head to look at the stars, searching for constellations. Your eyes widen at the sunset, your hands seek some face, some skin to trace and touch, your heart calms at the sight and sound of fire. You find your mouth humming against your will, filling the silence with your soft, soothing voice, you take space on this world! You make a difference, you'll leave a mark, you will be loved, you will be deeply hurt. Through gritted teeth or with a smile.

You dig into the bone, rip the skin away, try to undress, trying to become something, someone else.
But as you tear and claw, there is only less of you, and no more of anything.

Osedax is a genus of marine Polichaeta (sea worms) known for its inusual diet: they consume bones, specially whale bones. In almost all species, the males are tiny and live inside the female's tube. Also, they don't have a digestive tract, instead, microorganisms digest their food. By degenerating the bone, Osedax creates space for other organisms to inhabit it, including even tinier worms.
The deep ocean exemplifies the beauty of life unlike any other place on earth. In death, life blooms unending. In darkness, light is created yet again. In unimaginable pressure, softness provides survival. What an amazing thing, to share a planet with so much magic.

I don't speak little, but I have only said things that mattered A handful of times. The rest is filler talk, A concoction of what I think would fit best.
Those few times I've spit out the words, Bloodied and grody, they've scratched my throat, carrying skin and cobwebs, Pieces of bone, tracing a path almost untouched, Like a tractor destroying an old, old forest, Dragging tree and trunk.
And the listener took the bone-barb, Held it to my neck, asked, "What is this? Why? Why is this? Why are you?"
And the watcher stared at the drool, Like one stares at a rabid dog, And ran away, and Asked me to clean it.
But they were good, for the worse came from the ones Who saw, closed their eyes, Just a minute too late, And walked away, looked away, Away, away, So I licked it off the floor, Swallowed it back again, Put it away, away.
I wait with childlike, doglike hope That someone, someday will rip it out of my chest Where it has accumulated, taken root, And look at it, dip their hands into it, Look into my burning eyes and dirty face and say, "I see you, And I love you despite."
