To welcome you into the event we have the amazing Melissa Matheson as the S.A.M.P.L.E door host! Be sure to grab some 'Secret Santa/Lucky Dip' raffle tix from her, all prizes announced at the end of the evening 🎁🎊🎉🆒🆒🆒🥳🥳🥳
Mel writes poems. She likes words.
Wake to anxiety beating Hesitate as you kiss her neck Twist her hips Burn her skin You confuse her
The motion of your dance Struggles to step offbeat Careful to listen She whispers miles away You echo back
Senses are heightened With the blow of a feather Take care on that stone Throw with gentle precision And then hope for the best
Hail to the brightest star The warmth so distant Your wounded bird Sleeps gently next to you Careful not to bite
She is hardened by man Callused by wisdom And yet we take the blade To our surprise she bleeds heaven on this charred ground
[Image description: Melissa Jane Matheson sits in her favourite grey reclined office chair, her right hand resting awkwardly over her head. The placement of her index and middle finger rest either side of her third eye, just to let a little light through. her lips puckered, there is contempt in her gesture and a smugness to lean back on the chair. The image itself is in black and white, but within the black and white there are so many tones of grey to explore.]

Back for his 2nd S.A.M.P.L.E platform, we are excited to be supporting Paul Walker in his new solo experiment! 🤩🤩🤩❣️❣️✨✨✨
Paul Walker is a Sydney based artist who makes, performs and teaches within the realms of dance, live art and theatre. His work aims to deconstruct human/non-human hierarchies by adopting a queer approach to presenting the body working, resting, and making love with the objects and environment he performs with.
For S.A.M.P.L.E 2019, Paul invites you to join him in co-creating a Wild Dance – a fluid, undulating body of ideas and provocations that will arise, crash, ripple and fall upon the night. Together through our Dance of Wildness, we will swirl and slosh, and make a mess of things. We will spill and fail, and that’s okay, because in The Wild, failure is embraced. Come ready to exercise your agency and express your inner impulses. Or not… participation and observation are completely your choice!
[Image description: Paul is dancing freely in a club setting. The image is blurry, and the bright, moving figure looks ghostly in front of a dark background. Paul appears to have two faces, one falling off the other, and his arms are bent up by his sides. His skin appears to be an aqua colour and his top is a swirling mix of yellows and purples.]
