Your life is like a quilt
And everybody weaves their share
Some weave huge great tapestries
And some weave tiny squares
Some squares bring you laughter
And some will bring you tears
Some are stitched and sewn by those
Who are no longer here
In places there are threads
From people choosing not to stay
And every time you touch these threads
It brings back all the pain
But every little thread
That weaves its joy and pain and fun
Has stitched a quilt together
Of the person you’ve become
And every little tiny part
Has slowly taught you how
To weave your contribution
Into the blanket you have now
So I know there are squares that comfort you
And some that you dislike
But without them all you wouldn’t have
This patchwork of your life

Quilt’s coming along nicely! And yes, it's totally inspired by Bifrost. Fun times :)

It's a lot healthier to go for a daily walk than to sign up for a gym membership you won't be using because you hate that kind of exercise. It's a lot healthier to eat a frozen meal than to skip a meal because you were too tired to cook something healthy. It's a lot healthier to take a quick shower than to procrastinate an elaborate routine for days. Don't aim so high that you won't be hitting anything!

I may be done with chemo, but I am still getting my immunotherapy infusions every three weeks. My EPP quilt gives me something to do while I get my infusions and while waiting for my appointments.

I made a couple of flow charts for the ace and aro spectrums! Not meant to be taken 100% factual- you know yourself better than a basic flowchart. They’re mainly just for fun, though they can also be a good start for anyone questioning!

Beads Beads Beads apparently 😂
One single fabric for the large diamonds, six colours (2 tones of 3 colours) for the little ones.
I need 11 more blocks, some side setting triangles, corner triangles and then the border and this’ll be ready for the long arm.

I spent the last four days at a quilt retreat. I go to this one once a year and the ladies there are awesome! They were all so happy I was able to make it in light of my cancer and all the associated treatments I had to undergo this past year.
Tumblr media
Before I left I managed to get the last of my black hexies basted and ready to go.
Tumblr media
I got 7 tote bags made for various people. I also made a wall hanging, but forgot about its binding, so I will have to get that part done sometime in the coming week. I also got a lot done on my epp quilt.

I started adding the black outlines! I think it makes the yellows and creams just POP! I am excited to see how this will all come together.

Today was a day of trying new things with sewing.
Tumblr media
It was my first time doing EPP with a shape other than a hexagon. I used triangles and the crowns of hexagons.
Tumblr media
I made them into a sunflower. Not so new thing was having my coffee while I sew. But, that is a new mug, because...bees!
Tumblr media
Onto my next new thing...I appliqued the sunflower onto a block of white on white patterned fabric. I have appliqued only once before, but never an EPP piece. I also used a "new to me" sewing machine for this endeavor. I got my mom's old machine and now I have to learn its little quirks and idiosyncrasies. All, in all, I very much like how this turned out. This block is going into a quilt that my quilt retreat group is making for one of the ladies who was just diagnosed with colon cancer.

Back to basting...
Tumblr media
Since I am starting to get multiple blocks of my yellow hexagons pieces together, I need to get my black hexies basted. Then I can start putting this quilt together.

Yet another Beads on the go. All the blocks cut out and 16 finished.
A new fabric line just came in to the shop and I took one look at it and needed to have some. And I’m not really a yellow kinda gal.
