I have a special question for everyone here. Does travel make you happy? This pic was captured after a crazy hike to Pidurangala Rock at Sigirya. This experience of waking up in the middle of the night to get ready for the early hike and then making my way through the jungle to see the sunrise was an experience i can’t forget. The sense of achievement and happiness cant be described in words that I experienced. So this post is all about the happiness travel brings and how it has changed my life completely. I would love to hear your experience and stories of your travel too. . Does travel make you happy? After travelling for a while now, what I discovered is that the true happiness that I experienced came from my travel journey rather then what i had in possession in life. I’m not saying that having a great lifestyle and having good things in life is not important but if you look back at your life then you will surely realise that having branded things and expensive cars or a big house will not make you happy, the thing that will make you happy is your life experiences that you have while traveling. For me interacting with new people, learning about there culture and living in a completely different place is something money can’t buy for me. Traveling has changed my perspective and understanding of the world. Travelling has made me more confident, such as navigating my way in a completely different country, diving in sea for the first time and seeing the coral reefs which is an unforgettable experience, hiking in a beautiful island in middle of the ocean. People know it by the name of Secret Beach but it was not secret at all...😅... As you start your little hime from Mirissa towards the Secret Beach, you can find a lot of directions and boards towards the Secret Beach. It is a small 10 min hike to the beach and you can find a restaurant or two near the shore. When i reached the beach there were just two more tourists i could spot on the beach. The waves were high and it was a rocky shore. It is great to relax for an hour under the trees and also to get some nice pictures. I also found a boat which was placed on the rocks for photographs. You can also spot many small crabs 🦀 hiding near the rocks. . Over all it was a nice hike and a nice small beach too. Galle Lighthouse is located inside the boundaries of the Galle fort, which is a UNESCO WORLD Heritage Site. It is Sri Lanka’s oldest light station and was first built by the British. Later it got destroyed and was built again. . Roaming in the cobblestone streets of Galle, you can find a lot of historical buildings restored and maintained by the Sri Lankan Government and one of them is the beautiful Galle Lighthouse. It is located at the end of the Galle fort and near to the shore, and is still in operation. It is beautiful sight indeed. Hidden behind a small trail, this beautiful place is a must visit one. A small walk to this place is completely worth a beautiful view and some peaceful moments. Try to catch the sun set from this place. Sometimes we ignore the small things that actually bring happiness in life and go after big things and think that we will be happy when we get them. Don’t forget to appreciate how far you have come.... Sometimes in life we get caught up by the things that have happened in past and sometimes we think too much about how far we have to go. Life is all about enjoying the journey you are in, not the destination that you will get to. We always try to be better then before but forget to appreciate our current version. And this is a big problem people face and they aren’t even aware of it. It is very important to value yourself only then you can love others too. If you don’t love yourself how can you love others. I look upon the pleasure we take in a garden ... as one of the most innocent delights in human.... . One of my visits in Kandy was to the Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya. An area of 147 acres with more then 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees, leaves you in awe. It took me more then 3 hrs to walk around and enjoy the place but still i think i missed some places. More then 2 million visitors visit this place annually. The beautiful orchids, the old trees with big roots spreading in the gardens was a sight i have never seen before. It was a huge garden and a mini jungle as i can say from my experience. There are no FOREIGN LANDS... it is the TRAVELLER only who is FOREIGN..... . Every day is a lesson and it teaches us something about life. The only thing you need to do is keep your mind open and ready to learn. When i was climbing the coconut tree hill, at point I thought that i reached the top, but there was not much from there... I thought for a few moments and decided to roam around and found a little trail which led to the actual coconut hill... as there was no one around and no sign boards it was possible that i would have returned without even reaching the actual place and would have regretted it later... but a sense of exploring places and not giving up on things immediately, when we think that we have not received the result we wanted and quit thinking that there is nothing more to it ... we quite often lose the treasure which is steps away.... for me the treasure was the amazing place and mesmerising view i found... after few minutes other travellers followed and i had a nice time engaging with them... so this was a life lesson for me... do let me know about your experiences and life... “Where you go, go with all your heart.” . So this was my last day in the beautiful city of Galle, known for amazing Galle fort built by the Portuguese. I spent most of my time roaming in the streets of the fort, surrounded by beautiful buildings which are a great piece of architecture. And it was surprising to see how well maintained the whole place was. It felt like i was in middle of a movie scene. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is charming, exotic and extraordinarily. At first they will ask why you are doing it..... Later they will ask how you did it..!!! . My journey in Sri Lanka is filled with adventures and good times. This beautiful country has so much to see. When i was visiting a small town in Sri Lanka, i went to see the Nine Arch bridge. Like most places i had to hike a little to get the best view of the bridge. I waited for around 45 min to the train to pass and get some nice shots. It was such a beautiful and unique experience for me. I enjoyed every bit of it. Since i have started my travel journey i have realised how my excitement has grown for things as it used to be when i was a kid. When ever i used to see something new i used to jump with excitement and enjoy my experience but with time it got lost somewhere. I TOOK THE ONE LESS TRAVELED BY... AND THAT HAS MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE.... . This was first time i almost got lost while exploring new paths.. i tried the path no one used to opt for and had to hike almost 10 times more through thorns, bushes, grass, slippery sandy path and rocks. By the time I was almost convinced i was lost in the forest. I saw a drone flying high and that gave me hope, all i needed. All the fatigue, pain got lost in seconds and i started to climb towards the top of the mountain with energy and hope. As I reached the top i saw my destination on the other end and i was filled with joy. On this day I realised how important hope is. You can climb a mountain, go through obstacles, do anything that seems to be impossible just with hope. Though this picture might seem very nice but the cuts, bruises and pain made this actually possible. There isn’t a train I wouldn’t take.... no matter where’s its going..... . This was my best train journey so far.. It was sunsets that taught me that beauty sometimes only lasts for a couple of moments, and it was sunrises that showed me that all it takes is patience to experience it all over again..... . I had to wake up at 4:00am and start my hike for the Pidurangala rock at 4:45am. It was pitch dark and there was no one around in the forest to show me the way.... still I followed the marks and made my way to the top of the mountains... i had the company of a dog who hiked up to the rock with me and it gave me strength too.. to have someone by my side... as i reached the top i found 10-12 people already sitting on the corner of the rock and waiting for the sunset... i sat beside them and waited for the beautiful sun to rise.... i dont have words to express the beauty of that moment... i hope this picture gives you an insight of the amazing place... My GOAL is not to be better than anyone else.... But to be better than i used to BE.... . . After reaching Dambulla i climbed to see the Dambulla cave temple and on my way back saw the Golden Temple. It was not much of a climb but the views from above were mesmerising... The people around the place were very friendly and helpful and told me about the relevance and history of the temple... And it doesn’t take much time to visit both these temples... For me, i arrived at 4pm and was able to explore all the sites and even Golden Buddha temple by 6pm...
