Galle Lighthouse is located inside the boundaries of the Galle fort, which is a UNESCO WORLD Heritage Site. It is Sri Lanka’s oldest light station and was first built by the British. Later it got destroyed and was built again. . Roaming in the cobblestone streets of Galle, you can find a lot of historical buildings restored and maintained by the Sri Lankan Government and one of them is the beautiful Galle Lighthouse. It is located at the end of the Galle fort and near to the shore, and is still in operation. It is beautiful sight indeed.
