The 20% of calories that the FDA allows companies to remove from their foods?
ITS A LIE!!!
my dad works very closely with the FDA, and said that they would never allow something like that, so i did some research
it turns out the 20% is a margin of error, meaning that if a company calculates their calories and makes a mistake (which is entirely possible as the methods we have of calculating calories aren’t 100% accurate), they won’t get sued for it
it does NOT mean that every food is actually has 20% more calories than the food label states (and could actually have less, as the 20% extends to both more and less calories), the label is as accurate as we (the public) can get
