This is from a writing idea that I abandoned, but still wanted to illustrate for the autumnal vibes. When Draco apparates unannounced into the Weasley Barn (because I headcanon the Weasleys have a barn), Draco and Harry go at it. I had two ideas from there:
1. Against the dying of the light by @bangyababy [E, 17k]
The Rage is a rare dark creature that feeds off of its victims deepest fears. When Harry discovers one is attached to Draco Malfoy, he refuses to leave his side until they can defeat it, even if that means facing the Rage himself.
2. The Apple Tree by @foularcadebanana [E, 8k]
Harry’s breath caught in his throat as his wand automatically lit up. “Lumos,” a familiar female voice lightly whispered in his ear and then giggled, making Harry shut his eyes tightly. It was a dream, it was just a dream. It wasn’t real, it couldn’t be. He was just having a nightmare, just imagining things that were happening inside his own head. “Of course it’s happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean it’s not real?”
3. Distortion by @dorthyanndrarry [M, 8k]
Harry wakes in darkness. A darkness that goes on and on without end. He can’t see or feel, he doesn’t know what’s happened. All he can do is hold on, replaying his memories to keep him sane. Until it’s over. Until he can go home again.
4. Don’t Ruin A Perfect Thing by @thepansypxrky [M, 9k]
After the battle, everything seemed fine. Until Harry woke up one morning to find his scar a blooded mess upon his forehead, and growing with each day. This is what happens when a horcrux splinters inside of you. This is what happens when you want something so badly that everything becomes simple.
5. Dress You Up (in My Love) by @nerdherderette [M, 2k]
Draco had always been known for his beauty.
6. Flicker by @drarrymylove [E, 11k]
Harry has an argument with Draco but places a very high regard on his privacy. Instead of making a scene, thus feeding the vultures of the media, he stays calm and sits down for a drink in a bar. Harry never makes it home that night. He quickly loses control of the situation. With no access to his magic, he is left in the hands of a man he just met.
7. Poetic Justice by @heyitsamorette [E, 10k]
Someone is finding elaborate, poetic ways to murder people who went unpunished for their crimes in the second Voldemort war.
8. When Death Comes by @kedavranox [M, 4k]
There is little you can do to live when Death wants you all for his own…
There had been a previous occasion when Harry, expecting to be caned by Professor McGonagall, had instead been appointed by her to the Gryffindor Quidditch team. He sank into a chair opposite her and helped himself to a Ginger Newt, feeling just as confused and wrong-footed as he had done on that occasion. / Harry Potter and The Order of Phoenix
“But when he steps outside the sight before him takes his breath away because Harry is leaning back against the motorbike and yeah, the motorbike looks absolutely impeccable but it’s Harry he can’t take his eyes off. Harry in his worn denim pants and soft white t-shirt with a leather jacket over it all that makes Draco feel hot and flushed all over.”
Can you imagine a Harry Potter AU where, after the second Wizarding War ended, Auror Harry can't stand living in Grimmauld Place but does not want to buy a house because his home is where he wishes it to be at any given time? It changes constantly, so Hermione gives him an idea.
He purchases a Van and makes it his. It has some DADA books, a comfortable bed,a kitchen and a bathroom. It also has posters of famous Quidditch players (Ginny included)and Gryffindor banners everywhere. Pictures of him and his friends decorate the place. At night, he parks the Van somewhere where he can see the stars and doesn't feel the darkness engulfing his soul (He's not sleeping in the Dursley's house anymore, he reminded himself while living at Number 12 Grimmauld Place)
Harry practices spells out in the wild and takes Ron and Hermione for a road trip every now and then.
He is used to being alone, but when Auror Draco Malfoy and Harry get assigned as partners for a case, they get the chance to know each other. REALLY know each other.
Malfoy, feeling stuck and depressed, finds happiness while they discuss the case in Harry's Van. Long story short, they fall in love and Draco ditches the pure blood family tradition to be who he really wants to be. To be with the person he's loved since he was a teenager.
They fall in love with their new life together. It's Free of boundaries and any sort of judgment.
It's just nature and them, naked in bed watching the moon and stars through the Van's windows.
