Thank you for the yummy yummy meal
@ph0enix-animations here's ya crossmare
“Why the fuck do we have to go though this?” Killer whined.
“Shut up, Killer.” Dust, tending to the fire, spoke. They were in the woods.
"C'mon, Dust! I know you don't like it here either!" He sighed. "I wanna get back to Dreeaammm." He whined.
“He’s out shooting our food for us, just wait.”
"I don't understand why I had to go with you. It's not fair! Dream is my boyfriend, not Horror's, I should be with him."
"You'd get in the way."
“Not true!”
"Is to! Earlier, you and Dream had to find us shelter, but you ended up teasing him so bad he fucked you and now we have to stay out here in this shitty forest!"
“. . . Okay, yeah, that’s my fault.”
"And besides, Horror’s way better at hunting than you."
"Hey!"
"Admit it, if you saw a deer, you'd cling to Dream for deer life. Pun so fucking intended."
“No, that wouldn’t happen!”
"Really?" He scoffed.
“I can face a deer!”
"Killer, you're small and quite easily impalpable. You can't face a deer."
“Shut up, I’m not that small.”
"Yes you are." Another voice hummed. Killer yelped as arms wrapped around him from behind. "You're very small." Dream kissed his neck.
“Dreamy! You’re back.” Killer smiled and turned around to hug him.
"You coulda- ugh, carried some of the fuckin' food." Horror grunted. "Pompous bitch." He muttered the last part under his breath.
"We talked about this, I kill it, you carry it." Dream sat his bow and arrow down.
“I’ll help.” Dust stood up and went over to Horror.
“Thanks, Dusty.” Horror smiled, then chuckled at Dust not being able to carry it as high. They set it down by the fire and Horror began to skin it.
It was quiet for a while, until Error came running in, panting heavily. "F-fuck-! Hah- fuckk!" His side was wounded and he slumped against a tree clutching it.
“Error!” Dream rushed over and helped him sit down. “Where’s Nightmare? Wasn’t he supposed to be with you?”
"We-we were attacked-! The- fuckin freaks- th-thhey sent their goddamned- monster things on us- fuck- I thought Nightmare was behind me-!" His eyelids dropped. "Fuck-"
“I’m going-!”
“Dream, no!” Killer held his boyfriend’s wrist.
"Killer, I need to get Nightmare!"
"Dream-. . . He's-he's probably. . ." He glanced at Error. "He's- if Error’s here-" He sighed and hugged Dream. "Nightmare might already be dead."
“No!” Dream pushed him off. “I’m going!”
"But what if they're still there?! Please, Dream, I don’t want you to get hurt."
“My brother is out there! And there might be time to save him!” Dream ran in the direction Error came from.
"Wait-!" Killer tried to run after him. Horror held him back. "Dream, wait!"
Dream stopped for a moment to look at him. “I'm sorry. I love you, Kills.” He ran off.
"No-! Please!" He cried out and he slumped to his knees. "Please-! Come back!" He cried even more. He stood up, that made Horror hold him back again. "Ll-let go-! I didn’t- I didn't get t-to tell him- I-I love him!"
“He knows, Killer.” Horror sighed.
"I d-don't want him to go!"
“None of us do-” Dust was cut off.
“THEN WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU SITTING THERE AND NOT STOPPING HIM?!”
"Because we don't want Nightmare to be dead either! And there might still he hope-"
"BUT IT'S WORSE IF HE'S WRONG- IT'S WORSE IF I'M RIGHT! IT'S WORSE IF HE DIES TOO!?"
“Killer. Just breathe.”
"NO! IT CAN'T- HE CAN'T DIE- PLEASE, NO-!" His voice began to go hoarse.
Horror covered Killer's mouth. "If ya don't stop screamin’, somethin' might find us and we'll all end up dead!"
Killer bit his hand. "Well-! I'd rather die than live without him!" His voice became raspier with every word he spoke.
“Just calm d-”
"Shut up-!!" He kicked Horror’s shins. "Shut up!! Stop telling me what to do, I'm not a kid!" He clawed at Horror’s arms. "Let! Me! Go!"
Dust stopped bandaging Error and went over as soon as Killer began trying to get away from Horror. “You’re hurting him!”
"I DON'T FUCKING CARE ANYMORE!"
“Just take some deep breat-!”
Killer kicked Dust. "STOP IT! STOP TREATING ME LIKE A FUCKING KID!" He continued to scream and got more violent. He wouldn't stop until they let him go.
…
Dream got to a clearing. There was blood everywhere. And there was goop. "No." He looked around for any sign of Nightmare. None. "No. . ." He began to sob quietly as he fell to his knees. "Nightmare. . !"
…
Eventually, after Killer calmed down, he was too weak to move. Instead, he was sitting against a tree while banging his head on the bark, whispering Dream’s name over and over again. If anyone tried to stop him he'd scream, bite and slam his head against the tree even harder. Over time, blood began to drip from his head. Killer wouldn't stop no matter how much his friends pleaded.
Distant crying got Killer's attention, only he heard it because he was away from the others. He stopped to see who it was before immediately trying to get up. He stumbled and fell. "Dream!" He yelled at him in a nearly exhausted voice.
The crying turned into hiccups for a moment. “Kills?!”
"Dream, what- ugh!" He tried to get up again and failed. Dust and Horror came over and helped him up.
“Wait! Stay there, I’m coming to you!” He ran over quickly and gasped. Blood was running down Killer neck. "Killer, what happened?!"
Killer didn’t listen, hugging Dream instead. “Dreamy!! You’re okay!”
"And you’re not, why are you bleeding?!"
“I. . . I thought you were gone, and I didn’t know what to do so I- I-. . . But you’re back now!”
Dream spotted the tree Killer was banging his head against and hugged Killer tighter. He looked at Dust and Horror. "Get bandages." They both left and went to the tent to get them. Dream examined Killer. There was a few cuts on his arm, not too many. "Kills. . !"
“Yes?” Killer looked up at him.
"Why?" He pulled Killer's arm up. Dust and Horror had come back by then.
“I-I thought you we-were gone. . !”
"Killer! Don't do this! Please! What if I was alive and you hurt yourself so bad that you weren't there when I got back. Don't hurt yourself if you lose me! The others care about you, too!" In response, Killer sobbed in Dream‘s shirt. Dream wrapped a bandage around his head, and eventually his arm. “Please. . . Promise me you won’t hurt yourself for me. . .” Dream picked him up to kiss him. Killer kissed back and wrapped his arms around his neck. “Please, Kills.”
". . . Okay." He looked down. "As long as you never leave like that again."
“I won’t ever leave your side again.”
"I'd hate to ruin the mood, but. . ." Dust started. "Seeing as Nightmare isn't here, I assume he's. . ." He looked down. Dream shook his head slowly. "I see. . ." The mood turned grim again. "We should eat-"
Everyone jumped when the sound of a loud engine echoed across the forest.
…
Much earlier, Error and Nightmare were walking around. Since Dream and Killer had failed the job, they were forced to look for shelter instead. They found a clearing. "Well, wouldn't this be much better than the camp we have set up beside the fucking cliff?" Error hummed.
"No, more bugs are here."
“Yeah, we’d have to deal with Killer screaming about them.”
"And Dream complaining about it, too."
"'How uncivilized. What a fucking dump. Did you even try?'" Error mocked in his best Dream impression.
Nightmare laughed. “Yeah.” A twig snapping got their attention. A figure emerged from the shades. Nightmare stood close to Error and got his tendrils in s defensive position. "Who's there?" He called out.
“Do you think it’s one of those things?” Error asked.
"I-it's possible-"
"Don't worry, I'm not here to hurt you." A man emerged from behind them. The two looked at him. "Hello, are you lost?"
“No, we’re not.” Error spoke. He was a little defensive just in case.
"Ah, well, what might you two be doing out here? I'm collecting fungi samples." He smiled kindly.
“Why should we tell you?”
"Fair point. There's no pressure to answer if you don't want to."
Error relaxed a little. “What’s your name?” Nightmare asked.
"Dr. XGaster." He smiled again. "It's getting late, isn't it?"
“Yeah, we should get going.” Error said.
"I have some excess food back at my shelter, I don't think I'll finish it before it goes bad. Would you like some?"
"We're good." Nightmare said.
"Alright then. Do you need a place to stay at least? I've been alone for quite a while and I'm afraid I'd go a little mad without someone to talk to."
"Sorry, we've gotta go back."
"Ah, what a shame." He pulled out a whistle and held it to his mouth. "Guess I'll need to drag you back then."
"Wait- wha-" A tree fell behind them. They turned around and a creature stood there, growling at them. It looked like a wolf, but with three tails and multiple multi-colored eyes. Its teeth were growing unnaturally through the flesh around its mouth and it was larger than the average wolf, with six legs instead of four. The 'doctor' pointed at Error and Nightmare and it lunged at them. "ERROR, RUN!"
Error tried to leave, but the wolf quickly ran to him and bit his side. "FUCK!" Nightmare’s tendrils wrapped around the monster and tore it away from Error before throwing it at where the doctor used to be. He looked back at Error, who was now running away. He sighed in relief before screaming as the monster came back and bit his arm.
[i gave up on the gaps here. you're on your own]
“What the fuck is wrong with you?!” Nightmare asked the adult.
“I don’t think that should be your concern right now.” He grinned.
Nightmare grunted and kicked the wolf off him. He got up and ran in a different direction than Error. He ran for a long time.
Eventually, he saw a potential spot to get away. He gripped his arm, then slipped through a gap between two large trees which slowed the creature down. He ended up in a different clearing. He gasped as he heard the creature tearing at the trees before looking around for another exit.
The sound of a roaring engine got louder to Nightmare. He yelped and got up, looking around. A motorcycle stopped in front of him. “I’ll help you! Get on!”
"What- who the hell-"
Trees started crashing down beside them. "Fuck!" The stranger grabbed Nightmare’s good arm and forcefully pulled him on in front of them.
"Wh- let go-!" The stranger shoved something in Nightmare’s mouth. It felt like a pill. It only took a few moments for everything to go dark as they drove off.
…
“WHAT THE FUCK?!” Were Nightmare’s first words after he came to his senses. He spotted another person in the room, their back was to him. They wore a hoodie with a rip at the end of the sleeve. Nightmare knew this was the same person who brought him here because of his gloves. They also had the same cloth. “Who the fuck are you?!”
“Hello.” They turned around, revealing their masked face.
Nightmare could tell he was male. “YOU FUCKING KIDDNAPED ME!”
“I saved your life.”
"Oh, yeah, right, bitch. Like hell!" He stood up shakily. "No 'hero' saves someone by, what, drugging them with a fucking sleeping pill!!"
“What do you last remember?”
“I- I. . . Oh shit.”
“See?”
"W-well, I want to at least know who the fuck you are!"
“That isn’t important.”
"To me it is!" He spotted the strangers laptop and snatched it.
“You want to call the police on me or something?” He said sarcastically.
"Or at least search you up to make sure you're not some wanted criminal or major perv."
“What criminal, or perv, would give their ‘victims’ a chance to leave unharmed?”
"Fuck, I dunno! Maybe you want to seem nice just to eventually drag me back to- wherever the hell I am now!"
“Fine, look up Peñaloza, and you’ll see the actual criminal, the guy you were talking to before I brought you here. Oh, and the password is '42069FuckYou.' Thank my brother for that."
Nightmare opened the computer and typed in the password. He quickly searched up the name. He skimmed the first paragraph on the summary of the man he was speaking to before looking up at the stranger. "A-and you’re not working with him or anything? You took me in front of him, didn't you?" He searched something else up quickly.
“No, I’m keeping you away from him. He’s unconscious in that forest somewhere.” He tilted his head to the side. “You’ve got something over. . .” He reached over and gently pulled a leaf from Nightmare’s hair.
Nightmare swatted his hand away. "So you're still dangerous!"
“Only to people who start the apocalypse.”
Nightmare huffed and looked down for a moment. "How do I get out?"
“I’ll show you the door.” He offered. Nightmare hesitated, but followed him. After he followed him though a little corridor, the stranger held open the door for Nightmare.
Nightmare looked at him skeptically before quickly walking out. He glanced around before turning back. "Where am I?"
“On the South side of the forest.”
"Like I know what the hell that means! Do you know how far away we are from the cliff?" He sighed.
“The cliff? Fourteen miles.”
"Fourteen?!"
“I had to make sure we were safe.”
“Like hell I'll make it back in time before they leave!"
“I mean, I have a motorcycle. There's no pressure to come on it if you don't want to.”
Nightmare looked around. He still didn't trust the stranger entirely, but. . . "Please take me back.”
He smiled. “C’mon.” He led Nightmare to the side of the cabin where a motorcycle was. There was a bag attached to it. He sat down and Nightmare sat behind him. "You can wear my helmet."
“Thanks.” Nightmare took it from the handle and put it on.
“Hold on.” The stranger drove forward a little bit and Nightmare yelped, almost falling off. The stranger sighed. "Hold onto my waist."
“Wha- no.”
“Would you rather fall off?”
". . . No." Nightmare wrapped his arms around his waist, his tendrils, too. He was surprised the other didn’t comment on them.
"You ready?"
“Absolutely not.” Nightmare responded. “Let’s go.” Nightmare saw him smile before driving off.
…
The group heard the motor from earlier and jumped up. It was getting closer. "Fuck, climb a tree!" Dust said. He helped Error up. Then the motor stopped. "Or. . . Not?"
The stranger had stopped farther away from the cliff than Nightmare had expected. He put his mask back on. "Well, you can go now."
“Thanks.” Nightmare got off the motorcycle, stumbling a little.
“Take care, hon.”
"Wh-huh-"
"Welp, gotta go. See- well, probably never again, but, uh, here. Catch." Cross tossed him a bag.
Nightmare looked inside. It was food. It smelled good enough. "Uh, thanks."
“No problem.” He smiled and drove off again.
Nightmare began making his way through the trees. He got to the camp where his friends and brother stood. Dream gasped and ran up to him, bringing him into a hug. "Nightmare! You're alive!!" He was crying.
“Yeah, I am. . .” Nightmare hugged him back for once. “What about Error?”
"I-I’m over here. Good to see you're not too terribly hurt, buddy." Error smiled.
“How’re you?” Nightmare sat beside him.
"Much better. I'm glad you're alive." Error hugged him. Nightmare hugged back.
“What happened, Nightmare?” Dream asked.
"Well, uh. . . Can-can we talk about it tomorrow?"
“If that’s alright with you, I’m just glad you’re back.”
“What do you have there?” Error asked, looking at the bag.
"Oh! I got food."
“So do we.” Horror said. “We should save some for later.”
"Oh- sure!" They all hugged Nightmare at once. "U-uh, guys?"
“We’re glad you’re not dead, asshole.” Error said.
"A-ah, right. . ." He hugged them back. "Wait- what happened to Killer?"
“Oh. . . He thought Dream died while looking for you. . .” Dust explained.
". . . So he hurt himself?"
"You can ask me, you know." Killer grumbled. "I'm right here."
“Oh, sorry.”
Killer sighed. "Yeah, I did. I didn't want to live without him."
Nightmare sighed. “At least we’re all alive now.”
"Yeah." Dream smiled. "Now, you should eat then we'll go to sleep."
“Mhm.” Everyone agreed.
…
They all woke up the next morning. They ate food and got ready to leave. They decided the forest was a dangerous place to stay, especially by a cliff. Nightmare had looked up a map the day before and found out there was a nearby city.
"Well, are you ready to tell us what happened, brother?" Dream hugged him again.
“Uh, yeah. Someone helped me. He brought me here after.”
"Who?"
“He didn’t tell me.”
"'He?!' As in a guy?"
“Wh- yeah.”
"Night- nothing. . . Happened, right??"
Nightmare was surprised after he caught on. “Just because I’m gay, doesn’t mean I hook up with the guy who basically kidnapped me!”
"What?!”
“Wait, no-”
"Someone kidnapped you!? Who was it?!"
“I told you, he didn’t tell me who he was.”
"Well where is he?! Are you hurt?"
“He saved me from those things.”
"Still! What did he do to you?!"
"Well, he did drug me. . ."
“What?! What do you remember from him?!”
"He was wearing a mask, I didn’t see him!"
“What’d the mask look like then?!”
"It was a gas mask like thing."
Dream sighed. “I’ll keep an eye out. Do you remember anything else?”
"No. . . I mean, he had a motorcycle and a laptop."
“Oh, that was the engine we heard.”
"Yeah."
“We’re not splitting apart again.”
"Alright. Now, c'mon. There's a town nearby."
“We can get canned food from there just in case.” Horror said.
"Yeah."
"How do you know that there's a town nearby?" Killer asked.
“I saw a map earlier.”
“From where?” Dream asked.
"Uhh, the laptop."
“He gave you his laptop?”
"No, but I got a chance to use it."
“He let you use his laptop? After kidnapping you??” Dream was getting more confused each time Nightmare mentioned this person.
"W-well, yeah."
“What do you think about him? Do you think he actually saved you?”
"I mean, yeah, seeing as I'm not dead."
Dream sighed, concerned. “Where to the town now?”
…
Nightmare gasped loudly as he saw a certain building in the town. "Dream, Dream, Dream, Dream, Dream-"
“Yes, broth- no!”
“Too late!” He ran up the steps to the library.
"Wait-! Someone might be in there-!!"
“So?!” Nightmare opened the door. He paused when he saw two people at the front desk. They immediately rushed around him. He yelped as someone restrained his arms behind his back. He felt something sharp poking at his neck. "Wh-wha-!"
"Stay still if you know what's good for you." The person behind him spoke. The other person went to the doors, facing Nightmare.
"Brother-!!" Dream saw someone threatening Nightmare and immediately grabbed the other person. He put an arrow to their throat. “Put him down!”
“Let him go!” They countered.
"You threatened him first!" The others caught up and saw what was going on.
“What’re you doing with him?!” Horror asked.
The other realized it wasn’t an equal fight if they fought. “Fine.” The person holding Nightmare let go. In return, Dream let go of the other person. "Now, who are you?"
“I’m In-”
“Ink!” Error interrupted him.
"Wha- who the hell are you?"
“Error. Remember me?”
"Uh, n-" Something hit them. "Error?!"
“You bastard! You lived!” Error said cheerfully.
"You did, too! What the hell?!" The other replied with the same cheerfulness.
“You know him?” The other person asked.
“Oh, definitely. If Error’s with them, we can trust them.”
"Hm, alright. I'm Swap, but my friends call me Blue sometimes."
“It’s nice to meet you.” Dream said.
"Nice to meet you, too." Swap hummed.
Dream looked around while the others were introducing themselves then stopped. “Brother?”
"Yeah?" Nightmare leaned back on some railing. He was on the second floor, holding several books.
“Is that the same motorcycle?”
Nightmare looked over to where Dream was pointing. "Nah, the guy had a red one."
Dream sighed in relief. “Do you mind if we stay here for a while?” He asked Swap.
"Hm, as long as you don't destroy anything."
“Heard that, Kills? Behave.”
"Wh- I do!"
“Yeah, right.” Dust scoffed.
"Shut up." He huffed and held Dream’s arm.
“Fine, fine.”
"Where will we stay?" Error asked Ink.
"Well, there's a balcony with an extra platform in the corner. The second platform has books, so I think the boy up there would like that." He gestured to where Nightmare was.
"His name is Nightmare and he's nineteen, not a boy."
“Ah, alright.”
