I get what you’re saying, absolutely, and I’m not saying he doesn’t deserve it, I’m just saying it’s out of character. He’s done so much and should rest now, but he wouldn’t want to. He said the man who wanted stability and a family went into the ice, and a different man came out, so it just seems completely out of character, in my opinion.
Steve Roger’s entire character arc has been built over him putting others before himself, always. He is and always will be, a self sacrificing dumbass. It is a personality trait he cannot get rid of. He was willing to burn in a building as long as his best friend, Bucky Barnes, could escape said building. This friend is the person Steve cares the most about in the world.
