a sigh escaped your lips the moment you laid on the soft mattress of your bed. growing tired with each breath you took, you felt like the stress of the entire week was gathering up inside your body and it was awful. you tried releasing all the tension with deep and slow breaths, but it didn’t help and thus was only making it worse. you squeezed your eyes closed, feeling little hot tears coming to life under your eyelids. a growing pain in your heart you didn’t know how to handle, so you did the most natural thing to do, forcing yourself to sleep, to which your body immediately obliged.

your eyes opened wide, were you asleep for only five minutes? your body felt more tired than before, it felt like you didn’t sleep at all. you tried shifting your weight to the side, so that you could lay on your left side, but a pair of strong arms held you tight in your position. “what’s wrong, love?” his voice sent chills dancing all over your body as you immediately recognized who it belonged to. “nothing, i’m just feeling a little stressed, i had a rough week.” ace nodded, his black locks gently tickling your face from time to time. “it’s okay, i’m here now, you don’t have to worry about anything.” he whispered, placing a kiss on your temple. your mind was too exhausted to process what was happening in that moment, you were held in ace’s arms and it was the only thing that mattered. “a long night full of sleep is waiting for you.” he muttered softly, his lips moving against your skin, leading to you sinking more and more deep into his bare chest. your muscles started loosening up the tension once you were met with the warm feeling of ace’s skin against you.

“i love you so much…” was all you managed to say, your hands making their way up and down his torso to find some kind of comfort, just as your heart was doing while being into his embrace. “i love you too, y/n.” he pressed another kiss on your temple before speaking again. “i’m always by your side, don’t forget it, love.” he continued, before letting you fall into a deep slumber.

your eyes opened once again, this time you felt well rested, and it was all thanks to ace. “thank you ace—…” before you could even say something else, you noticed how your bed was empty except for you and how you were in your room, your real room. your eyes burned with tears running down your cheeks, as soon as you realized everything was just a dream. it felt real, but it was just a dream. the pain was unbearable, and if you only knew it would’ve ended like this then you wouldn’t have wanted to get any sleep at all. the sad truth left a pain in your heart you just wished to die, that way you would’ve had a chance to see him again, even if it was still in your imagination.

“what can i make for you?” the young man asked while cleaning a few glasses with a soft cloth in his hand. he didn’t bother looking up at you, but he was listening, wether you decided to speak or just remain silent. a heavy sigh left your lips in a way that seemed so painful, your head rested on your hands, elbows pressed against the counter as your eyes scanned every colorful bottle displayed on the large shelf behind the bartender. “give me the strongest liquor you have.”

the green haired man moved his gaze upon you, a questioning look grazing over his gorgeous features. “are you sure? i don’t think you can handle a single drop of the Spyritus.” he stated, then continued. “unless you’re a siberian pilot that wants to drink vodka.” he sighed, storing the glasses back in their place before turning his full attention on you. your eyes focused on the scar on his left eye for a brief moment before looking at the other one, feeling it might be rude to stare too much at it. “then i don’t know what i want.” while he simply kept his gaze lingering over you, your eyes wandered down to the little metal pin attached on his turtleneck sweater, the name ‘zoro’ engraved on it.

“maybe you just need someone to talk to.” he whispered near your face, to which you jolted slightly in surprise, not noticing he was actually getting closer to you. “as you can see, i have nothing to do right now.” which was a crystal clear lie since the bar was full of customers, you didn’t understand why he said such a thing. “so, speak it up.” the catchy tune of an 80s song ringed through your ears as you began to speak, hesitating on your words. “it’s just that…everything goes the wrong way.” shoving your head between your hands another sigh came out of your mouth, this time the frustration you felt was audible. “i lost my family, i don’t have any money left and i got fired, too.” tears threatened to escape from the corner of your eyes but you didn’t care in the slightest, the situation you were in was enough to not make you care about everything else. the young bartender listened to you in silence, giving small nods from time to time to let you know that his attention was still fixed on you and you only.

“come work with me.” he stated, sliding a hand through his hair, moving away a few locks stuck on his forehead due to the sweat. “you can be my coworker, you’d be a great help for me.” your eyes fluttered wide hearing his words. “and i would pay you well.” you couldn’t believe it, such an opportunity was coming right into your arms, of course you were going to accept. you were so desperate you didn’t even know which supernatural entity you had to be grateful to. in your head, in your eyes, your only savior was the green haired bartender of whose you knew only the name.

“as for your family…” his deep voice broke the mental trance you were lost in, a hint of curiosity glistened in your pupils as he was getting closer to your face. “i don’t know and i won’t ask you why those pieces of shit decided to leave you, but one day, if you want, this place will be your family…together with me.” the dry feeling of his lips against your cheek made you froze in your place, you were more speechless than you could ever be. his hot breath caressed your ear gently, shivers danced down over your spine, your back arching slight to the sensation. the bartender took a step back, a small smirk morphing his mouth at the sight of your cheeks blushing. “cute.”

your eyes followed the little waves gently splitting the dark water beneath you. the air was hot against your skin, sending chills running down your spine as you lowered your fingers down into the warm water of the river. a pair of brownish eyes watched your movements in complete silence as he slowly paddled the boat where you laid on, beside him.

sighs flowed out from your lips, the atmosphere was lulling you into a deep slumber, and your guide left you resting for a while. the blonde ferryman didn’t mind your company, he didn’t even let the souls get into the boat as you were having moments of absolute peace. when you turned around to face the man, he stopped his activity, letting the little boat sail on its own. “what’s the name of this mortal creature?” he asked, referring to you who couldn’t do nothing but stare at him, as if you were intoxicated by some sort of devilish spell. your breath hitched when his eyes looked directly into yours, was he hypnotizing you? no, he was just looking, wondering why a living being would visit hell, a place of sins and pain.

with a slow whisper you managed to say him what your name was, to which he nodded slightly, before talking a few words. “i am the guardian of the Antinferno, the ferryman of all the souls whose only place to be is hell.” your tired eyes watched his figure attentively, his clothes were unusual for an hell’s guardian, not that you saw one before. his black coat made of feathers covered his white pants and shirt as if he directly came from your world.

time passed so slowly, minutes felt like hours, but you couldn’t explain how it was so comfortable for you to rest with the guardian, keeping you company. you could sense he was a good person, you could feel kindness and a slight sadness coming from his body, from his heart. “how come a kind creature like you is damned to live eternally in hell?” your words caught him surprised, he would’ve never expected someone to call him ‘kind’ nor talking to him so gracefully. he was used to the sinners’ loud curses, he couldn’t have possibly imagined someone like you would initiate a sort of conversation with him.

“corazon is the name of the guardian you are addressing to, but the name of the man whose soul is being blessed by such a creature is donquixote rosinante.” his words falling from his lips sweet as heaven, his coat’s feathers softly brushing against your cheek as he leaned down so that he could sit next to you. “i’m no kind creature, you must’ve mistaken my soul for another.” you shook your head, you were sure of what you saw inside him, and his attempts of making you think the opposite made you frown. “your lies leave me unfazed, rosinante.” million chills ran all over corazon’s body, not even when he was still alive someone calling him by his real name made him feeling like this.

what were you doing to him? why did you decide to stay on his boat and talk with him? why was he answering you? questions flooded inside corazon’s brain, he tried with all his will to stop thinking about you and bringing you to the other side of the river, but he couldn’t do nothing but feeling himself opening up to you. he found himself talking to you about his story, and he didn’t know why he was doing it nor who let him do so, but he wasn’t able to stop, so he didn’t.

your heart tightened inside your chest, every word he said only made you feel worse. your breath hitched when your eyes met his teary irises, all you wanted to do was pulling him into your arms and give him some kind of comfort, but your guide warned you about doing so. what you did was simple, yet for corazon was a total change in his entire existence.

“rosinante, once i’ve reached heaven and god will allow me a few words, instead of forgiving me for my sins, i will ask him to let you inside the purgatory…so that you can redime yourself and be ready to live the rest of your eternity in heaven.”

“may i have this dance, señorita?” your eyes wandered from the bright red color of your drink to the matching one of his sunglasses. his words sounding politely to your ears, but the smirk on his face made you understand he wouldn’t take an answer that’s wasn’t a yes. his request was just a mere formality, every single thing of him made you see he was demanding you to hold his hand and dance with him.

his bold actions left you unfazed, you knew him well, and he could see from your captivating eyes that you wouldn’t fall for him that easily. his smirk only grew wider as he sat at your table, right in front of you. “you came all alone tonight…” a wide grin replaced the smirk on his face. “it would be a shame leaving you by yourself, i’ll give you the honor to spend this night with me.” with your eyes closed, you took a sip from your drink and a small smirk decorated your lips as the man watched you with a tip of amusement. despite his words, deep inside you knew he would be the one having the honor of you being by his side.

you both positioned yourselves, doflamingo’s hand holding yours while his other was placed against your lower back, his thumb caressing your exposed skin from time to time while your hand was lightly gripping on his shoulder. with your legs already intertwined with each other, you started moving to the beat of the music dictating your moves, two slow steps followed by two quick ones that ended with another slow step. doflamingo held you dangerously close to him, which you didn’t mind as you were doing the same, your lips grazing over his but not fully touching. you couldn’t deny the fact that this man was attractive as hell, and you wanted him as much as he wanted you.

his hand slowly fell down to your tight, only covered by the thin cloth of your red dress, giving you a firm squeeze as a soft moan of pleasure left your mouth. at this point you weren’t dancing anymore along the notes of the tango, your bodies were melted together as you swayed your hips against doflamingo’s leg positioned between yours. you could feel his hidden gaze devouring your body, his body growing harder the more you brushed yourself against him.
