I don’t know what is funnier:
- the fact that Scott Lynch, famous author of The Lies of Locke Lamora, made an AO3 account in 2019
- the fact that the only fic he has written is domestic post-canon wlw fluff for “This Is How You Lose The Time War”
- the fact that Amal El-Mohtar, one of the authors of TIHYLTTW recommended his fic on Goodreads

thinking about percy and annbeths dynamic in botl is always interesting, but it really boils down to how differently they view relationships.
annabeth has understood love to be conditional. things with her father are good when she doesn't attract that many monsters. her mother only acknowledges her when she accomplishes something good. her other examples of love come from grover, thalia, and luke, who all prioritize someone or something above her, and she understands that as she's not good enough for them.
meanwhile, percy's understanding of love comes from his relationship with sally, who made it known that even if she has to work a lot or send him to boarding school or marry a guy he doesn't like, she loves him. grover searching, and tyson going to live with posiden doesn't phase him because he knows they aren't doing those things because he isn't enough.
that contrast is why botl was so hard. because annabeth still thinks that percy would abandon her if he finds someone or something better, and percy doesn't think to reassure her because he thinks that she understands it's a given that if he goes away, he'll always come back for her. he doesn't know what she needs assurance of.
she thinks she's losing percy to rachel the way she 'lost' thalia to the hunters, grover to searching, and luke to kronos. it doesn't cross percy's mind that she thinks he might leave, because the thought of leaving never occurred to him.

repeat after me:
even if i don’t like my body today i will take care of it
even if i don’t like myself today i will still be patient and kind with myself
even if i do not love myself i will still take care of and be kind to myself, despite not wanting to

✦ @booksociety’s Love Is in the Air event: Well Met by Jen DeLuca We have in our midst a woman named Emma. She is a tavern wench of great beauty, whose smile lights up the day like the sun, and the night like the moon. She has absolutely stolen my heart, but I do not mind in the least. In fact, if she would agree to keep my heart and take good care of it, I would never want it back.

Please DO NOT watch Sia’s new ableist film “Music.” The autistic character Music is shown having several meltdowns and being held in prone restraint. Prone restraint is dangerous, and has killed many autistic people. Take Eric Parsa for example. Autistic people are killed by neurotypicals who don’t know how to handle meltdowns and Sia just makes light of that. Plus, she cast a non disabled person to play Music. So again, do not watch “Music.” Here’s a thread of films with good autistic representation if you want to find something to watch.

the truth is you aren’t the same person you were 2 or 3 years ago. you’ve grown an unbelievable amount since then. you are not the same scared person you were then. through the challenges you have faced along the way you have been molded into someone new, someone strong. keep going.

ok but legitimately i think the reason why kids aren’t taking internet safety seriously is because the people who are telling us not to put our personal information out seem so out of touch. no one acknowledges the possibility of meeting very real teenaged friends online, they always say that everyone you meet is a 40 year old white man in disguise. because they aren’t acknowledging things we know are true, it becomes a lot easier to dismiss the rest of what they’re saying as well. internet safety lessons absolutely must keep up with the times and acknowledge the internet’s capacity for good if you want kids to take to heart warnings about its capacity for bad.

Think about why it’s illegal to hire a hit man.
All you’re really doing is speaking and giving someone money.
It’s legal to speak.
It’s legal to give someone money.
Even if they actually complete the job, you’re not the one who committed the murder.
So why is it illegal to hire a hit man?
Could it be because inciting violence is not protected under free speech?
And if that’s the case, why should free speech protect Nazis advocating genocide?
