Hey sweetie! Just checking how you’re doing after all that happened :) random question to think about something else: what’s your favorite food? Like Chinese, Italian, Mexican...?
This is so sweet of you. Right now I keep a little distance from tumblr and try to concentrate on other things. Don’t worry I will be fine. I just refuse to let people with sticks up their butts ruin my good mood. It was actually quite moving how many people took the time and send me messages telling me that I did nothing wrong. I’m incredibly thankful for that.
About the food thing: I really like Mexican, the more spicy the better. But I’m also a big fan of some of the stuff we have here in Germany. Beef roulades will forever be my favorite food.
Thanks again for worrying about me. It means a lot.

Forget people like captainshithead or whatever her name is. She never has anything nice to say about anyone. Unless I missed something and she has a disability people like her are a piss off to those of us with disabilities. Mine isn't walking or mobility related but seeing people like her attack others constantly over something they don't suffer from is embarrassing. Keep your chin up you are allowed to talk about hypothetical things and feel no guilt
It just really makes me sad. I still remember when this was very small fandom and people were nothing but supportive of each other. Can we not go back to that instead of attacking people to feel better about yourself. Thank you so much for your message though.

I’m sorry, matter of fact I’m not. Bc I’m going to “stand” up for anyone. That girl seems like a bully who gets pissed at anyone who doesn’t agree with her. Honey, don’t feel bad. You’re an amazing writer and person. Again we can defend ourselves when it comes to our disability’s. No need to make yourself feel better by doing it for us. Okay, I’m done ranting. This wheelchair lady is out. Peace.

As a disabled person, I just don’t want anyone to feel bad about writing whatever the fuck they want about a fake character or legend. Like, if you’re that passionate about it, get off the internet, go to some rally’s, protest, or do whatever makes you feel better. I’m so tried of people like that taking things and twisting them because they feel better when they do it or they think we need help standing up for ourselves. I may not have legs but I can do that just fine on my own.
Thank you. I’m really overwhelmed by all the kind messages I got after that accusation. I’ve got the best followers in the world. I can’t thank you enough.

(1/2) Oh Lord.. What the heck is wrong with people? So you have no right to express your simple opinion without someone being butthurt? I read that comment and you said NOTHING offensive! It was simply IF he could walk, IF! Ain't nobody said that something's WRONG with him that he can't. It's so trendy to make things look much worse than they are. I, personally have suffered from really bad acne most of my life and no one knows how disheartening it is if you've never had one...
(2/2) How it ruins your self esteem, how it makes you hate yourself to the point that you don't want to look into the mirror, don't want to interact with anyone and so on. if someone wrote about me a fic and didn't completely erase, but reduced the severity of this condition for a plot or for some other reasons, I wouldn't be that mad actually. Besides, I read only a few fics where Ivar can walk, 90% of fics does not erase his disability. Please just stop worrying. You won't please everyone.

Yeah, you’re right. I know I that there will always be people who find something to get worked up about. But to be accused of something like ableism feels not good and surely makes you rethink everything you have said or posted the last couple of days. I know that I don’t meant it that way, but I keep thinking about how things might come across. Espeacially since English is not my first language and I sometimes struggle with the right choice of words. So I’m thankful that you shared your way of looking at things.

And another thing about that whole debate. No, we don’t sit around and mope if we’re disabled. Maybe, when it first happens we cry a little but we get back up and keep going. And I can guarantee if we cared what people thought about being disabled, we would tell you(not you but the person who is wrong). We don’t need help with that, so enjoy writing what you want and love your fucking lives to 💯
I guess some people just like to take the moral high ground. Thanks again for taking the time to tell me your opinion on the matter. It really made me feel better.

Tbh I see your point about Ivar but I don’t think she will. I think it’s her way or no way at all And as a disabled person I took no offense to that thread. Historically there are epic poems where they don’t mention he has a disability and people should be able to write about that. Plain and simple. You don’t have to read it, if you don’t like it.It’s a fucking story, chill out people. She’s making it into something bigger then it needs to be. You just can’t debate with crazy.
Thank you! This message really means a lot to me. I was starting to feel bad and wonder if anything of what I said could really have come across as offensive, because that was not my intension.

That is because you’re talking about something that isn’t there. I never said nor meant that anything about it is funny or comical or whatever.
But if anyone felt offended by what I actually said, then I am sorry, that wasn’t my intention.
(1/2) I read some of your comments about fics that leave out Ivar's disability and I agree with most of what you said. But I wouldn't go so far to doom every fic in with Ivar can walk. Some authors use the historical Ivar instead of series Ivar and I think that is completely fine. I especially remember a beautiful fic by @ceridwenofwales in which she used a historical who was able to walk. It also might work in some AUs.
(2/2) I tried to write one once but I never finished it because I couln’t really imagine how he would be if he could walk. He would definitely be a whole different character if he didn’t have to go through so many hardships. Anyways, it is definitly a thin line you walk when you change such major parts of a character and you have to be very careful as an author. But whether it works or not is different from case to case.
First off, I never said all fic was doomed. Not once did I say that. Yes, I understand working with historical au’s, or au’s in general. I understand that there are many other diseases or disabilities that can be explored with him, too.
What I did say is that it is absolutely disgusting and wrong to erase his disability because you find him sexier or more capable without it. And you should know that was my point because you were part of the thread on the post that caused me to flip out in the first place.
The thread that insinuated he’d be more capable without his disability. The thread where you said he was made to be disabled ‘to make things fair’, implying that not only is he somehow less capable just because he doesn’t walk, but also that it’s comical to you that someone would be purposefully made to be disabled to ‘weaken’ them. The thread where someone else added that their fucking ovaries would be more wrecked than they are now if he could walk.
Each of you have contributed to the problem of ableism by that thread. All of the above sentiments are grossly offensive, and you’re doing it only because Alex is good looking. And instead of acknowledging that, you come to me going on about different kinds of fic.

You are getting me completely wrong. I don’t want his disability to be erased. Not at all. It is part of what makes him such an interesting and inspiring character. And yes, he is hot. Whether he can walk or not doesn’t change anything about his looks. But there are things that are more difficult for a person who is not able to walk, that is not ableism, that is a fact. One of my best friends is in a wheelchair and I’m sure she would agree with me.
To get back to Ivar, the fact that he can’t walk is of course an advantage point to his enemies. But he compensates that in so many ways. It is amazing to watch how he overcomes all those difficulties. That is what I was refering to in that post.
I never saw you reply to that thread. It wasn’t originally posted by me so I didn’t have it in my notes. I saw some of your posts where you were talking about writers erasing his disability and that is what I was responding to. I really hope you get what I’m trying to say as my English is far from perfect.
