Show of hands; Who likes fantasy novels with a mythological background? No? Just me?
How about the interplay of world cultures all broken down as in-depth as possible through the first-hand account of our intrepid heroes as they travel from paradigm to paradigm, in search of the figure that's cursed them to be the harbingers of destruction in their own home worlds?
Still nobody? Tough crowd.
What if I told you it was female lead and she's a firecracker non-human species from Grecian lore who isn't flanderized even 50 chapters in?
There it is. That's all I had to say, huh? Well, I wish I knew that sooner.
I'd love if some of y'all could read my novel, sometime. I need feedback, and all anyone ever tells me is it's the best writing they've seen in years. That's not constructive! Be brutally honest with me, so I can change stuff before they go to publishers. Save me from becoming my own worst enemy, and I'll be able to apply with confidence.
All those links go to a google doc with the word count I've gathered so far, ripped straight from the hosting site. I even have a cover! (subject to change—if you're an artist looking for a commission job hmu) but I think it gives a pretty good idea of the tone I'm looking for.
If you have the time, I say give it a shot! I bet you could knock it out in 8 hours, easy. I promise you won't find a better way to kill an afternoon.
Anyway, this has been my Ted talk. Thank you for coming.
This is the best newbie friendly exposition of Homestuck's main appeal I've ever seen, and also the VAs are cash money. The creator said they're planning the whole series at this pace, and I really think they can do it!
If all goes according to plan, today I will be writing my Fiftieth chapter.
Pray for me! lol
Y'all should know that I'm entered in a fantasy novel competition over on webnovel.com and it's my first time getting a salary for my writing. I'd love it if you guys could support me with some readthroughs and mayhaps an upvote if you get the chance! Daily chapters are mandatory, and I just finished chapter 2 minutes ago. I need other voices to distract from my impostor syndrome as I get into the rhythm of writing.
I dunno how to be coy and smooth but I'm super ecstatic(read: terrified of failure) and I'd love some feedback!
regardless of how you feel about homestuck you do have to admit that the story concluding with almost all of the major characters literally deciding to just say fuck it and abandon the story entirely is like. an absolutely iconic narrative decision. you know what i'm not doing this shit anymore. figure it out. bye.
