what do you think the next Catfish album will be like?

Man…I hope it’s a banger.

I hope it is SO DIFFERENT than anything they’ve done before! Let’s step into this new era boysssss (or boy).

I like the sound of Showtime so I’d be fine with the grungy, rough NY style sound of an album like that. And I love the little snippets of piano. There’s something so good about rock with the keys incorporated.

are the Deadcoast just based off the members of Quarters of Change or are the songs the same too? 🎸

Songs are the same, too!!! I love their sound so much!!

I did change their names and made a couple of them brothers, but the reason behind Copper’s name is paying homage to the song “Blue Copper” and when Van describes their sound as very Strokes like, this is all true. And they’re also from NYC so it fits!

What do you think of the lack of new content and the promo?

I guess I’m not that surprised. I think we will start seeing bits and pieces of new things now that Showtime is out. I feel like Showtime was the first step in the new direction for new content.

Radical transparency, I love the song on a lot of levels. It feels like a love letter to the fans, like he’s been paying attention to all of us for so long and is thanking us for being here. I look at the lack of content and the promo for everything as a nod at what was, almost like hey…it was great, it ended, but this is where it’s headed. It’s still more content in two weeks that we’ve gotten in the last 5 years combined, and I have a feeling it’s only just beginning.

Regardless if the pic of Van by himself Spotify used is old or new, the point is, he’s by himself. I have a feeling Benji is still involved, but I kind of feel like the fact that we see Van on his own is foreshadowing a whole new sound, and a whole new vibe with him being like, “fuck that shit” here I am. And now the rest will come about.

what do you think about Benji not being in the studio or on the song? 👀

I saw the credits only had Dave, CATB and Van listed, but I’m unsure if that means Benji wasn’t a part of it. With how their management has likely changed, Benji could fall under the “Catfish and the Bottlemen” name now versus individual listings of each member, unless I’m late to the party and missed out that he wasn’t part of the recording?

Either way, I truly love the song and sound. It’s so different than previous CATB in the BEST way!

What do you think the song is about?

His experience with coming back, thinking it would be good only to find out it wasn’t the reunion he expected. Going inward, finding space, figuring shit out and considering giving up…only to realize, nope…I’ve gotta carry on and I will. Having Benji’s support to continue, and not giving a fuck about the hate, slander, bull shit comments or anything else that is said.

I feel like it’s about going ON. And I do think that the video signifies an end of an era and a start of a new one.

For starters, I’m deceased. Completely. I need you to understand that I turned off my camera in my zoom meetings and literally had a meltdown in the background. Haha.

I’m obsessed. I love the song, the lyrics, all of it. And I feel like he went in slightly and is going to go in MORE. At least I hope. I want it all.

The video had me crying at the end, seeing him and Benji walk out. That fucked with me. We made it! (It also gave me TOLBINY vibes so I cried harder haha)

I have a ton of thoughts, a ton to sort through, and tonight is NOT THE NIGHT for me to have an awards dinner because all I can think about is Catfish lol. God, help me.
