I Can't Escape The Shadow King's Love - By あいゆうき (8/10)
Tumblr media
A yandere that says sorry. That's already a plus, but he really means it too. The magical Shadow King is weak as a kitten when it comes to love. The happy ending takes time though. The beginning is more stereotypical.
Our two leads are kinda charmingly dumb.
Tumblr media
A crybaby yandere, and a nervous office worker.
Zone pretends to be a cool kidnapper...because he knows Noel reads alot of dirty novels pffff...
Tumblr media
His acting is his way of showing affection, because he was originally Noel's "shadow". Their friendship as children is what gave him his powers, and his male form.
Tumblr media
He even does the cringe "my princess" lines. it does get funny. Eventually you notice there is no "Shadow Kingdom". The castle is just floating in a shadowy void.
Tumblr media
It's kind of like a dream world. It's not an actual country. He's not a real king. He's just acting that way because she wanted to become a princess as a child.
Tumblr media
He knows about her lonely desires.
Tumblr media
She's in shock for a while because...Noel is a nice girl and all but she is really boring.
Even wearing a sexy outfit is too much for her.
Tumblr media
She eventually remembers the only friend she had when she was at her loneliest.
Tumblr media
Eventually the King roleplay starts to piss her off and she gets mad at him.
He immediately starts crying.
They have an honest conversation about what they want.
Tumblr media
Zone decides to live as a human, because Noel likes him. She doesn't need to play princess. She just wants to enjoy life with the best friend (now lover) that she missed so dearly.
They kiss and start dating for real, because Zone doesn't need to use his shadow magic to convince her. They really did get along well as kids.
Noel regrets forgetting someone so precious, and she promises to cherish him.

Elegant Desire - By Kim jong-geon (8/10)
Tumblr media
The world of music is cutthroat everywhere. Even in the traditional orchestra world. Our protagonist is a bad person who lives in the past. When she sees her first love again she vows to win his love, even though he's completely uninterested. Another man encourages her to pursue this fruitless love, hoping that she'll eventually rely on him.
Be prepared.
Kim Solhui is not a good person. That's a hard hurtle for a lot of readers, who may have trouble sympathizing with her.
The beginning of her story is tragic though.
Tumblr media
She was good with her instrument, the viola. She was also very pretty. A handsome pianist was super in love with her too. Her life was shaping into something good.
Sadly, she was targeted by a woman named Im Sojung. Sojung wasn't a talented viola player, but she is an amazing marketer and producer.
She targets Solhui out of envy. Plus, she wants a certain handsome pianist. He has a good stage aura.
She wants to become the perfect, successful made-for-tv couple with him.
The only problem is Solhui. Handsome piano boy loves her.
Tumblr media
I would love to tell you that Solhui rises above it all. I would love to tell you that the rumors Sojung spreads didn't stick. I would love to tell you she didn't give up on her career because everyone mysteriously believed she was sleeping with the bosses.
I can't do that, because the rumors won.
Solhui lost her budding romance and her passion-fueled career. On top of that the handsome Yoonho marries Sojung, even though he's still in love with Solhui.
All for money.
Solhui sees him on TV sometimes, laughing with Sojung and a fat wallet.
It's enough to drive anyone crazy, but it's no excuse for her behavior.
Tumblr media
She sees her first love, Woojae, with an older woman. That older woman is his employer.
Solhui immediately loses it. She wants to "save him from the ugly cougar". She wants to be his savior in general, because he saved her from bullies in high school. She imagines this bright new future with her very first love.....but he's cold to her.
Solhui blames the other woman, like Woojae is somehow cheating on her, even though they haven't been close for years.
The loss of her career has clearly affected her psyche, but that never gets addressed in a healthy way.
Tumblr media
Hyejung Shin is the perfect villainess to blame. She was a country girl. She married an extremely rich man. She drinks all day and she has wild sex with her driver, Woojae. She's also not very close to her son, Heewon, who is very lonely because both of his parents are cold to him.
Solhui finds an opportunity in Heewon.
Heewon wants to learn how to play the viola.
Woojae refuses to even befriend her, so she decides to become Heewon's music teacher to stay close to her true goal.
Woojae.
Solhui constantly looks down on Hyejung for cheating, even though the wealthy (and abusive) husband cheats as well. She acts like Woojae is somehow trapped, even though the hookups are consensual....but something is wrong...
Is Woojae using Hyejung?
Woojae was best friends with Solhui. Why is he treating her like air?
Tumblr media
Woojae saved Solhui from her bullies, but he couldn't save himself. He was once part of a perfect family, but then his father abandoned his mother.
His mother started to beat him with bottles.
Woojae decided to kill his old self.
His mother eventually left too.
He was all alone. So he made a new life as a sugar baby servant in the big city.
But is that all?
Hyejung is mysteriously connected to Woojae and Solhui's hometown somehow.
It's all very mysterious.
Tumblr media
Also, Heewon is a yandere. He fell in love with Solhui before the main story began. He fell in love with her viola talent and her beauty. When she becomes his teacher he already knows how to play. He copied her passion out of admiration and love, and he gets attached really easily.
Solhui is only half decent to him, but that's enough.
He willingly becomes a pawn in her game to win Woojae, because he knows Woojae. Woojae is no longer capable of honestly loving someone, so he knows Solhui will give up and need to be comforted by someone...
Maybe a nice, rich, younger man....
Tumblr media
Woojae is the most miserable character of them all. I think he (maybe) killed his mom in self defense, but that's just a theory.
Honestly, Solhui should leave him alone.
Her weird obsession with who he used to be (as a teenager) is cringe at best and creepy if you think about it for a second.
Of course he remembers Solhui, and his happy memories with her, but he's literally not that guy anymore. He's freaking thirty.
Solhui needs to grow up.
Tumblr media
Heewon does know about the affair, and hes suspicious of Woojae. He's not super close with his mom, but he does love her.
Solhui's deranged plot to break up Woojae and Hyejung's hookup relationship reveals some unexpected secrets.
Heewon doesn't want his mother to get hurt. Plus he wants Woojae gone so he can start seducing Solhui.
Woojae is in the way.
He's a mysterious, depressed, handsome guy who refuses to get attached to anyone. He's willing to sleep with Hyejung for work, and he seems empty on the inside.
Heewon doesn't care.
He just wants Woojae gone.
Tumblr media
Solhui starts to feel a little guilty about using Heewon...but it's too late.
Heewon isn't some innocent kid.
He's more talented than her too.
With him by her side she can have a future in music again.
How deep is her love for Woojae?
Is she just depressed?
Does she need to move on?
Maybe the secrets Woojae won't let go of aren't a big deal.
Heewon keeps enabling her to keep her around, but he's causing a butterfly effect.
I don't think we're ready to see the disturbing secrets Hyejung has been hiding under her drinking, and her torrid affair.

Agasa-kun wa Yande iru. - By Kamemizu Tora (8/10)
Tumblr media
Date me or I'll die! A scary, yandere high school romance? I don't think so! Our jaded and "intimidating" yandere isn't as tough as he looks. He's just no good at love. Luckily, his new girlfriend is a sweetheart willing to learn and grow with him. He's so blessed!
Ichigotani Nanako is dumb, and gullible. She lives a sheltered and normal life. High school is all sweet for her. Why would she be wary or unkind, when the world is so bright for her?
Tumblr media
When Agasa Yuki confesses to her she's only scared for a second. She instinctively says yes when he gets super desperate...but when he blushes she feels her heart thump for real.
Agasa Yuki acts like a tough loner, but he's really just a boy.
Tumblr media
He is pretty inappropriate and clingy though. Her friends do not approve of him in the beginning.
Tumblr media
Also, he was a stranger to her.
She had no idea he loved her so much.
(Enough to stalk her a little.)
He's famous is school for being handsome, smart...and weird.
Tumblr media
He's really insecure, but Ichigotani Nanako insists on happiness and fluff. She practically forces him into a healthy relationship.
They go slow because it's what she wants.
Tumblr media
This is their first relationship and it shows.
Tumblr media
Agasa Yuki thinks he's a manipulative monster and such, but Ichigotani Nanako has him in the palm of her hand.
Their relationship won't be miserable and toxic, because she makes him too happy.
She thinks he's cute too.
Tumblr media
Obligatory yandere backstory option A:
His parents abandoned him and he was neglected.
That's used to explain his possessiveness.
Yawn, but this is gonna get cute.
Tumblr media
Some toxic thoughts blahblahblah...
Tumblr media
Boom!
Agasa Yuki is a paper tiger in need of love, affection, and kisses!
He's just edgy (and a bit of a bully towards his classmates) but I think he'll grow and change.

As You Wish, My Lady - By Songjoo Yoo (8.5/10)
Tumblr media
A creepy, freaky Cinderella story. Resentment flows like water in this one. The yandere is classically yandere, but he is also insanely chaste. Content to serve and let his wife spend his money and travel the world, while he works. Love doesn't have to be part of the deal, but if she wants him in return well....that changes things. He gets worse.
A six year age gap.
Mental issues.
Both of those factors are Kind Of A Big Deal.
Tumblr media
Jinha originally thinks the princess his grandfather brings home is annoying. Their relationship is rather toxic. Hyun Eunseo clings to him. She begs for attention. She wants to play....but it's because her entire family died. She's not processing the trauma well, and Jinha is acting like a willing butler.
Jinha only becomes attached in return after she is kidnapped. He leaves her alone in a park, in a moment of frustration, after playing with her for hours. When her fate was uncertain he cried, and cared, for the first time.
Jinha is some sort of sociopath. He's pretty good at hiding it, but his fake mask is an open secret in the Cha family circle.
When Hyun Eunseo grows older her relationship with Jinha gets...healthier! Much healthier in fact. They become great friends and Hyun Eunseo trusts him BUT it is strange. Jinha treats her like his boss when she's around. He does it because Grandfather Dukman expects it.
Hyun Eunseo is the daughter of his Master.
It doesn't matter if Hyun Eunseo is a penniless seven year old orphan. She is the Master. The Princess. The Mistress, and Grandfather Dukman ensures she is treated as such.
The Hyun Princess causes friction, because this is a modern day story. Dukman's obsession with serving some Russian family that died in a car accident is freakish. Freakishly pure, and it's even odder that his servile behavior was passed down to one of his grandsons.
Hyun Eunseo never gets to live a normal life, and it is downright terrifying.
Tumblr media
The Cha and Hyun family lines could not be more different.
Eunseo is the daughter of some fancy rich Russians. They were old money. Crazy old money. As in they were old money enough to sponsor children as servants. Old enough to donate their fortune to the poor out of guilt because their power definitely came from improper places.
Dukman was one of those servant children.
Hyun Eunseo's grandparents saved Dukman from certain death in the wintery slums. Dukman was, quite literally, the most loyal dog of all time. He worked like a slave for the Hyun family, and he downright worshipped them.
He's not totally nuts. Dukman was released from his servitude when he had enough skills and experience to start his own life. The Hyun family did not actually "own" him, and they were famous for their philanthropy. Hyun Eunseo is the third generation...that hasn't accomplished anything yet. She was barely seven when her philanthropic parents died. Her wealthy grandparents were already dead, and the Hyun's weren't crazy wealthy by that point.
Hyun Eunseo had nothing.
Dukman became a rich man. He has a large family and an even larger company. When Hyun Eunseo was left without a guardian he immediately stepped in.
He told his children, and grandchildren, to bow down to the Hyun princess.
Naturally, most of them hated her on sight. An orphan girl is one thing. An orphan girl that can order you around is another.
Dukman spoils Hyun Eunseo as well. Everyone knows he loves her more than his biological grandchildren.
...even more than his actual children.
Dukman is a strange kind of creep to deal with, because he's not a pervert. He's just biased. He loved and worshipped the Hyun family. He naturally assumes that Hyun Eunseo is naturally superior to his family, and by extension himself and his blood.
It's a VERY old fashioned way of thinking that causes alot of trouble.
Tumblr media
Namjoon is the second son's son. He's a little older than Hyun Eunseo but....
Oh oops I'm moving too fast let me explain.
Tumblr media
The grandson who marries Hyun Eunseo will take charge of the company. Dukman built and enormous empire, and he wants Hyun Eunseo to live in comfort and pleasure until the day she dies. He also does...selfishly desire a great grandson of mixed Cha/Hyun blood.
Hyun Eunseo gets along with him great! They have a very loving grandfather/granddaughter relationship. The circumstances are so dang weird though it's hard not to hate Dukman.
Namjoon tries to use Eunseo to inherit the company. He doesn't care about her in the slightest. Not even as a sister or a friend. He lies to her face and he talks shit behind her back...
....and suddenly his life is ruined.
Grandfather Dukman disowns him. He does it because Namjoon tried to hit Eunseo, but he also does it because Namjoon has been spending company money on escorts. Alot of it.
Jinha provided pictures of those escorts. No one can prove he's the one who released them online but....yeah.
Jinha is a smart and capable stalker. He's been keeping tabs on his entire clan, in order to protect Eunseo.
He has dirt on all of them and he does plan to use it if the marriage competition gets violent.
It's even more awkward because poor Eunseo is AWARE of the situation. Like, she knows it's a marriage of convenience. It's what her grandfather wants. A marriage with no prenuptial arrangement. Guaranteed money. So she can live like a princess even after he dies.
It's an open secret.
After Dukman dies Hyun Eunseo suddenly won't be a rich girl anymore. Namjoon is just one of many examples. Namjoon's parents don't think Eunseo should get a dime of the family fortune.
Eunseo feels obligated to marry because Dukman did make her a princess. It's realistic and painful. She really loves him, so she's willing to endure his traditional ways.
Jinha is mostly just...there in the background being creepy for the first thirty chapters.
It's really awesome!!!
Super tense!!!
Tumblr media
Seungyeon is the third grandson. He's a volleyball player that could go pro....but his parents want him to marry Eunseo for power. His parents think volleyball is silly, and they're awful towards him because he's less obedient than the other grandsons.
Eunseo loved him innocently.
Seungyeon played with her feelings, and he slept with lots of girls to feel superior.
He did it all because he loved Eunseo, and he hated her at the same time.
Falling for Eunseo for real means he has to give up everything. His dreams, his sporty friends...freedom.
Dating Eunseo means marrying Eunseo. Dukman would never allow them to casually date.
Seungyeon does and says terrible things, but it's because he was never allowed to have a normal relationship with Eunseo.
Dukman formally announces that Eunseo will be choosing a grandson soon.
The pressure is on.
Eunseo does talk about her love for him, and how much it hurt her....and he doesn’t seem to care.
Tumblr media
Jinha offers himself up, on a silver platter. He says he is the natural choice, and he will let Eunseo live like royalty for the rest of her days.
He gets mad when she cooks, because his wife should not work.
He makes a room in their apartment her piano studio, even though her fingers were mangled in an accident. All so she can play simple songs for him, and enjoy the hobby she used to love in private.
He's considerate and insanely handsome, so she falls in love with him. She decides to forget about Seungyeon, because she wants to value herself more.
Here's the problem.
They sleep in separate bedrooms.
After six months the marriage spirals.
Eunseo finally asks him why he will not be intimate with her. Even if she flirts. Even if she bluntly asks.
The insanity is jaw dropping.
Grandfather Dukman told his grandsons to "save their purity" for the Hyun princess. Yup. Another open secret. The family has always known that wedding Eunseo is the key to power. Dukman has been drilling his grandsons about "how to be a good husband" since they were in high school.
Here are the rules for marrying Eunseo:
- Don't make her work.
- Your money is her money.
- She's more important than you.
- Stay a virgin if you intend to marry her.
......
There are eight Cha grandsons. 5 removed themselves from the battle because they were too old for Eunseo, or too afraid of the rules.
Seungyeon is a playboy, but Dukman was willing to let it slide if Eunseo wanted him as a trophy man.
Namjoon pretended to be "pure".
Jinha really is pure.
Jinha tells her he won't sleep with her until she's more certain of what she wants. He doesn't want her to sacrifice her body out of obligation. (She originally wanted to study abroad before Dukman told her to get hitched.)
Jinha tells her to fly around the world without him, and bang other men if she pleases.
He doesn't want to tie her down, after all.
They are family, but his position is service. He is her husband second, and a source of income/stability first.
Absolutely frickin wild I could not believe what I was reading.
Tumblr media
Eunseo, obviously, freaks out and says she really does love him. Sure, she did marry him for convenience. She was scared to lose the only family she has after Dukman passes, but she realized that Jinha is nothing like Seungyeon. He is good husband material. She doesn't need to jet set with a bunch of models! She's more than happy to stay with him and discover love for the first time!
She says I love you.
Jinha becomes more honest, and some of the elder grandsons come forward to warn her about Jinha.
It's pretty bad. His stalking has been in her life since middle school. Broken arms. Poison. Threats. Beatings. He's done it all, and she didn’t know until now.
She takes it like a champ though. She has always known the Cha family is abnormal, and she loves Jinha because he treats her well. It's not just his looks and the money. She trusts him, and Dukman. Those are the two men she believes in the most, so she decides to let the violence slide....
.....most of the victims had it coming anyway.
Tumblr media
Eunseo is no sadist, but plenty of people have tried to take advantage of her. Jinha is the perfect yandere slave but there were just too many. He couldn't stop it all.
Jinha dated some girls to look more normal, and he accidentally dated a few that were obsessed with him.
One girl told Eunseo that the Cha family was just acting, and when Dukman dies she'll be homeless.
It scared her when she was 14. She moved in with a distant aunt. That family used her allowance from Dukman constantly while they ignored her.
Eunseo got tired of being ignored and she missed Jinha so she left. She told her aunt no more money! I'm cutting you off for taking advantage of me!
Then, aunties son smashed her fingers inside a piano as revenge.
Taking away her one talent, and her favorite hobby.
Obsession, and money.
Cinderella cannot escape the fire.
Tumblr media
Seungyeon tries to kill himself.
It causes the main conflict in the story.
Hyun Eunseo and Cha Jinha are married, which means Jinha is the new head of the family.
Seungyeon lost. His parents abuse him more. They steal his volleyball career with rumors and bribes, because he dared to not date the princess.
He loses...
Everything.
His first love, and his dream.
He cries and tries to get together with Eunseo, because she's allowed to have lovers on the side, and he wants that at least.
She says no. She has no intention of taking advantage of that particular polygamy clause.
He walks in front of an oncoming truck....after he destroys Eunseo's reputation.
It's unforgivable.
He says he's been her lover for years, and she married Jinha purely because he makes the most money. He tells a distraught grandfather Dukman that Eunseo played him. That he loves only Eunseo but she left him. Even though he was the one who ignored her confession to sleep with a bunch of women.
Dukman is at a loss.
He has already disowned one grandson.
Seungyeon is in the hospital. In a coma. It's hard to deny the evidence when he was spotted crying and clinging to Eunseo as well.
Hyun Eunseo loses every ally but Dukman and Jinha. Even Jinha's parents believe poor Seungyeon couldn't take the pain of being used for s**.
Jinha and Eunseo divorce.
She loves him. He's insane about her, but she does it because she hates the Cha family. She doesn't want to hate her grandfather, when he saved her. She definitely doesn't want to hate Jinha, so she leaves.
Grandfather Dukman gives her a massive allowance, and she does travel, but she goes to build a career. She gets work in America, and she enjoys being independent.
Four years later Grandfather Dukman calls and says he's ill. Eunseo immediately rushes home. Jinha's parents apologize to her. When she left their robotically perfect son turned into a violent drunk for a year. He's functional now, but the pain of the divorce proved that Eunseo can't be a bad person. Jinha really loved her....but then he went quiet.
He quickly entraps Eunseo, and he squeezes another love confession out of her.
Eunseo confronts Seungyeon, who admits his lies just to spite his horrible parents. Dukman finally disowns him for trying to ruin Eunseo's marriage.
Jinha and Eunseo remarry quietly.
The ending scene isn't another wedding.
It's Dukman in the hospital. Eunseo returned because he was sick. She planned to live in America forever, but Jinha told him to lie. He made it sound so innocent. He couldn't contact Eunseo, so he used his grandfather. Dukman was trying to distance himself from his little princess, but Jinha convinced him otherwise.
Also, he hired a guy to stalk her on his behalf in America.
This Cinderella story was inescapable from day one.
If Eunseo had chosen to marry another grandson Jinha planned to become her lover and steal her.
When she left he immediately started making plans for their reunion (after he was done being drunk).
Such a pure yandere is rare.
He became what he was raised to be.

The Tale of Oshin - By Arhat (7.5/10)
Tumblr media
A dragon-blessed queen with two powerful, handsome husbands? It sounds too good to be true, because it is. The King who loves her is a brand new ruler who used to be a barbarian, so he is surrounded by enemies. Her dragon husband is even worse. His godly powers are questionable at best. The magic eyes he gave her as a wedding gift don't even work that well. How will Oshin cope with power, with her meek personality, and two deeply flawed lovers?
Oshin is kind of dumb and pretty. Her mother was the same way. Both of them attracted countless men with their naive sweetness and beauty.
Oshin is a terrible Queen. It really shows. She doesn't command respect. She doesn't even punish people who do disrespect her, because she wants the palace to be peaceful.
Tumblr media
Her first husband, King Naskaya, is always away at war too. The King is also close to a female aide named Suren, who is a genius strategist.
Oshin never speaks out against Suren...even though she currently has way too much sway in the palace.
Tumblr media
Naskaya the former barbarian, who now has to step up and be a King, is madly in love with Oshin. This is very bad. He indulges her. He never forces her to learn. Oshin thinks she's an idiot, because she cannot follow along at war meetings...but that's because Naskaya refuses to teach her. He wants his wife safe, happy, and pretty. I'm not saying Naskaya is a bad person. It's very sweet that he cares deeply for Oshin, and her health and happiness....but he is a new King in a volatile land that doesn't fully accept him.
Oshin has no children yet.
Tumblr media
Oshin gets captured by the Dragon...or the salamander. Oshin nursed a little salamander back to health...and it turns out that the little creature was her stalker.
I'm going to be clear here. Dragon is a very boring character who exists to make Naskaya jealous. I do not see his appeal, BUT he does give Oshin her powers.
Tumblr media
The Dragon's Eye is a great blessing. Having Dragon Eyes can allow you to.
- read minds.
- see hundreds of miles away.
- see glimpses of the future.
It's an extremely OP power to have....if you're smart. Oshin isn't smart. She is am uneducated and spoiled wife with no confidence. Also, using the eyes too much makes you sick....so Naskaya doesn't let her use them much. Even when she wants to...
Tumblr media
Naskaya is a big scary barbarian. He does allow Oshin to take the Dragon as her second husband, but he does it to protect her. He knows more people will bother his wife now that she has special powers. Only the Dragon can be trusted to be her bodyguard, basically.
He's way crueler when Oshin isn't around.
When she reads his mind briefly she sees that.
- Naskaya lusts after her to a scary degree.
- He's willing to kill his own family and friends to keep her as his wife.
The truth is to terrifying Oshin, who believed that Naskaya stayed with her out of obligation after he rose to power. He became King after their marriage, but she lived in fear of being tossed aside...because he was away so often.
It's hard for her to accept the truth.
Tumblr media
Oshin has no children....because Naskaya doesn't want her to get pregnant. His mother suffered horribly over the course of multiple pregnancies. If Naskaya wasn't a King it's likely that he would have kept his marriage childless. He finds pregnancy as a whole disgusting and he doesn’t want to put Oshin at risk....even though she actually wants a child with him very much.
Tumblr media
Suren knows Naskaya is a little crazy. She plans to take revenge on him.
Tumblr media
Naskaya killed her true love while he was busy trying to become King.
So she wants his new country to fail.
The rage of a woman is just like that. A slow poison. She is a formidable enemy.
Tumblr media
The Dragon doesn't even appear for ten chapters its hilarious. Also most of the time when Husband #2 is on screen Naskaya is jealous in the corner. The Dragon did stalk Oshin as a salamander, but he's not very intimidating.
It's neat that Oshin has to grow up and demand her Queenly rights. It's neat that Naskaya is overly doting to the point of insanity but the Dragon is reaaaallllyyy boring and the art isn't great.

How to Tame the Merciless Villain - By Peroche (8.5/10)
Tumblr media
A submissive, crazy, powerful magician slave plot done right? Is that even possible? They actually start as tentative friends and he falls for her first? AND the Duchess protagonist isn't an insufferable pervert or an idiot? This one is too good to be true.
I kept waiting for a disappointing plot twist, but it has not come yet.
Olivia woke up as the daughter of a Duke 4 years ago, and she's been searching for the main villain for 2. She's been visiting every slave auction, waiting for him to go up for sale. He's one of the most beautiful slaves on the market, so she cannot relax for a day or she will miss the chance to save him.
Tumblr media
The villain is named Kian, and he has a very tragic backstory. He was born with incredible latent magical power, but nobody cared. He was born a slave, so the noble class treated him like one. His pretty face didn't help. When his powers suddenly manifested (when an old master attempted to do S&M knife play) he felt wronged. Cheated out of the wonderful life he should have had. He was BORN talented, but all that mattered was his slave status.
Tumblr media
The story does a good job with showing his downfall. Originally, he was just a hard worker. A slave willing to work like a dog to survive. He did not have a violent bone in his body. The constant sexual abuse he experienced is what pushed him over the edge.
Tumblr media
He had many masters. Which means that, despite his beauty, the wealthy women who owned him always grew bored of him. They passed him around like he was a literal living sex toy.
Tumblr media
Worst of all....he had to perform well. This contributed to his breakdown more than anything. He was super submissive and generous to his masters in bed, and still he never got a crumb. Not even a good meal really. He got his own basement room, but it didn’t have a door. He sacrificed every shred of pride in his body, just to live...and then he found out he was special. So special that if he had been born anything but a slave he would have become famous and respected.
I'd snap too.

The original Olivia was your average noble woman. She had fake friends. She was snotty but not abusive. Her family and her maids liked her, but her role was to marry the prince.
Tumblr media
The new version of Olivia breaks up with the Prince after she buys Kian. This sets up suspicion across the country. The Crown Prince himself has been abandoned for a beautiful slave. It's a scandal, but Olivia has a plan. She is currently in charge of her family, as her father is ill. She does not love the Prince, and she knows he's secretly a selfish coward.
She wants to pour all of her time and energy into sponsoring Kian. Which will slightly elevate him out of his status as a slave. She must ensure that Kian has decent control over his magic when it awakens in him. He's on the level of a natural disaster. Training him well will basically save the nation.
Tumblr media
Olivia is doing her best, but the people around her think she's gone nuts. Sponsoring some nobody slave? That she just met? It is a little fast, but remember. Olivia is on a time crunch. It took two years for her to find this man. She must calm him and tame him FAST. If he discovers his strength when he's still bitter at the world well...heads will roll.
Luckily, Olivia is so distracted by all of her responsibilities that it's impossible for Kian to deny her sincerity. He stops trying to undress for her pretty quick, because she genuinely seems uninterested.
Sure, she thinks he's pretty. BUT she's running the entire Ashford estate AND she just broke up with her powerful fiance. There's no real time to flirt. Instead Kian begins to admire Olivia.
Tumblr media
She also saves him from a jealous and sadistic servant who thinks they're lovers. That was a nice touch. It made her look even cooler.
Tumblr media
Olivia tried very hard, but the power of envy is amazing. One of Olivia's enemies sends an assassin. It's after a happy night. Kian has his sponsored status lined up. He's learning how to use magic. Olivia even attended a party with him. Their scandalous story has become inspiration for a famous artist, who painted Kian. People are interested in him, instead out outright abusive. Olivia's plan is unfolding perfectly. Kian will be a respected young magician before his true strength manifests.....
.....then the assassin comes before he's strong enough.
Olivia gets stabbed.
Kian starts screaming about how he wants to go home, with her. He carries her back. The earth splits. Blue fire swallows the assassin, and we see how much his admiration has grown. He doesn't just admire his hardworking master.
He's obsessed with her.

Corrupted by the Mercenary King - By Okonogi happa (8/10)
Tumblr media
What happens when you push kindness to the limit? Our protagonist princess always tries her best, but her family just sees her as a pretty body. An item to be bought and sold. A violent Mercenary King wants her, but her family thinks he's not rich enough. He invades the country, and she accepts his twisted love to escape her cruel life.
It hurts.
It hurts to do good and be rewarded with pain. Estelle is a caring princess in an uncaring, perverse castle.
Tumblr media
Her parents literally tell her to dance in skimpy outfits for their guests.
Her own brother tells her she can "visit his room" if she wants to.
It's implied that she is a nurse/doctor and she helps people when she can, and this is her only escape from the perverts who own her future.
Tumblr media
One of her many suitors, The Mercenary King, comes when she falls into a deep depression. She always cries alone in her room, alone in this world. Surrounded by people who see her as a womb for some future heir.
She falls deeper into despair. The King is insulted. He sent many generous proposals, but Estelle's greedy family wanted more.
He decided to invade. The people...Estelles only source of strength...burn in droves below her.
Tumblr media
Dante is so excited to see her.
She doesn't remember him at all.
Its been so long, and she's been too depressed. He was once a boy who blushed at the sight of her.
Tumblr media
The violence escalates quickly. Dante says he's here for her. Not her land or her money or some future heir.
He loves her.
Tumblr media
He's super freaky and toxic about it.
He wants Estelle to know that he is the only one who loves her.
Tumblr media
The proof is his body.
He went to war to increase his fame and power. To become someone who could conquer a castle.
Tumblr media
He knows she is so desperate to be loved.
By someone, anyone, that doesn't just see her as the pretty princess everyone wants.
Tumblr media
He proves it.
He kills the king and the queen and every rich guest they have ever hosted. All to prove he just came for Estelle. Only Estelle.
Tumblr media
Her kindness melts away, and she decides to be selfish for once in her life.
Why not?
Kindness never got her the love she deserved.

The Portrait of the Late Prince - By Maginot (8/10)
Tumblr media
The beginning of this tragic love story is executed incredibly badly. By the end its painfully realistic and sad. It's not for everyone, and the yandere is pathetic. Our protagonist is a cool painter who will never give up her mother's last name. Not even for love. Not even to become Queen.
Ines loves painting. It is her foremost love. I'm telling you right now. She doesn't give up.
Tumblr media
Ines is pretty and a prince fell madly in love with her, but she never accepted him and she never will.
You really do pity Enrique, by the end, because Ines does love him. She just never chooses him over her legacy as a painter.
Tumblr media
Enrique was only 15 when he met Ines. One of the only female painters in the Vertone Kingdom. Ines is the real deal. She's got a Maestro sponsor and everything. Plus her family has given up on marrying her off, because she's that obsessed. Poor Enrique fell in love with her love. Her drive to succeed and her pride and her beauty.
He was lost, but he was only a boy.
Tumblr media
Ines felt affection for him....but not in that way. Yes, he was an art piece for her. A beautiful object to paint and pity. You see Enrique was an unwanted prince. His uncle became king. A bad king sure, but a legitimate king all the same. That king has a son...so Enrique became a prize to marry off.
Ines was commissioned to make his marriage market portrait! How cruel! His true love must paint his attractive face in a way that will entice wealthy brides, so his uncle can sell him off in exchange for astronomical wealth.
Ines does it, and she tells him the harsh truth.
Tumblr media
He says he wants to run away with her.
She says no. She says he has no idea what hardship is. A beautiful face. Royal blood. After he marries he will be a prize. Ines finds it all so bitter. Enrique was being treated like a princess, not a prince. That was the only thing he lost. The right to inherit the world. He got everything else. Beauty, money, and a secure future.
Ines tells him to stop crying and get married.
Tumblr media
She tells him she wants him to be happy, but he's being ridiculous. She had to work her hands to the bone to be a mere painter, and men still look down upon her. Being a spoiled, pretty prince with a wealthy bride is hardly torture.
Her life is harder than his, but she loves it.
She wants him to find that same fulfillment.
She doesn't know how deep his feelings really are.
Tumblr media
The story begins ten years later. Ines has been captured by Nathan, the rebel leader. The new king. The lazy nobles have been overthrown. Executed. Tortured.
Nathan claims he wants an accurate portrait of the elusive missing prince.
Ines is no fool.
She knows Nathan is Enrique, but she lies to him. She missed him. Her feelings for him finally shift into lust, and confusion and fear.
She doesn't know why the new liar king is so obsessed with her.
Tumblr media
She paints portraits that are wrong.
She tells Nathan she has forgotten Enrique. He was just an annoying boy with a bad temper. He meant nothing to her.
It gets really dark. Nathan does force her into a sexual relationship.
Tumblr media
He also kills prisoners in front of her.
He's conflicted.
He wanted her to remember him.
You see, Ines inspired him. Basically, he overthrew his uncle because he was angry at himself. Angry at himself for being a useless runt nobody wanted. His first love rejected him. His uncle saw him as a nuisance. His only value was his pretty face. He wanted to return to Ines a conquering king that would make her fall in love.
Tumblr media
Nathan, formerly Enrique, is still too naive.
Ines does love him.
In fact, she agrees to be his lover.
When he becomes the new king he buys her an art studio. He visits her all the time, and they have a loving relationship, but she is not his concubine. She does not marry him. She does not have his children.
Her mother's legacy, and her paintings, will always trump him.
I think this story should have been told chronologically. When Ines is "forced" into a sexual relationship she's immediately into it, because she DOES have lusty and complicated feelings for Enrique/Nathan. Due to the ten year time skip plot that intrigue is completely lost, and the story just looks like edgy garbage.
Ines remains the one thing he could not conquer, and he loves her all his life.
.....
It's a shame. Ines is an amazing protagonist worthy of obsession. It's also a breath of fresh air to see a true submissive yandere. One that actually does give in. One that puts his loves happiness first. He does try to forcefully seduce her, but in the end she is willing to give him her heart. Just not her love, children, or a Queen.
Her love is enough for him, and that's actually really touching.
