TW pet illness/cancer/surgery

My dog is okay for now, the first scary part is over. He had his surgery and is doing well. I’m really sad I can’t be home with him right now, but my family is keeping me updated on his well-being. He’s walking, eating/drinking, and being social again which is all good signs. The next big scary thing is just waiting to find out if his tumor was cancerous. We’ll find out in 10-14 days what the results are. In the mean time I’m just really grateful for what our vet has done for him. He’s 13 which is old for a Labrador but his dad (our last dog) lived to be just a few months shy of 16. He’s got a lot of life left and I really hope he can live it. I’m not ready to say goodbye to my dog yet :,(

Also I’m gonna be offline for a while more than I’ve already been… my dog is sick and going into surgery tomorrow

Hearing the new Taylor Swift song lyrics like the “I cry all the time but I am so productive” “im depressed so I treat every day like it’s my birthday” make me so unfathomably angry anyone who has a private jet, cooks, stylists, body guards, basically more money than god singing about a struggle she can’t possibly relate to and selling packaged and sanitized with a pop tune to the girlies who probably are living paycheck to paycheck it’s so dissonant and disgusting to me

I need the next two months to be over so I can start my lifestyle of living in a 195 square foot cube that I pay 1200 dollars for every month and I spend my waking hours at work and my 4 conscious hours in my cube pouring my heart and soul into an RPG maker game

They are already selling data to midjourney, and it's very likely your work is already being used to train their models because you have to OPT OUT of this, not opt in. Very scummy of them to roll this out unannounced.

Good news, fellow artists! Nightshade has finally been released by the UChicago team! If you aren't aware of what Nightshade is, it's a tool that helps poison AI datasets so that the model "sees" something different from what an image actually depicts. It's the same team that released Glaze, which helps protect art against style mimicry (aka those finetuned models that try to rip off a specific artist). As they show in their paper, even a hundred poisoned concepts make a huge difference.

(Reminder that glazing your art is more important than nighshading it, as they mention in their tweets above, so when you're uploading your art, try to glaze it at the very least.)

I know it's probably been a while since you posted it but I stumbled on your comic about drawing and sometimes wishing you didn't (I'm bad at words I don't know how else to describe it) and just wanted to say as someone who is still struggling to get into college, it means so much to read that. Thank you for that, and thank you for being here. It genuinely means so much finding people in this world that capture those feelings so well, it helps so much.
