This. is. so. good. And honestly, to give the writers and showrunners some grace: they might’ve had buddie in mind this whole time but knew they were potentially ending the series. it’d be a disservice to the whole buddie journey if they began to end their story with the few episodes they had left. we’d expect a complete episode arc to feel the nuances and details of how complex their relationship is. and i think–without getting too much hope–they’re leaving the opportunity for that with their temporary love interests.
the more I think about it, the more sure I am that in the (second) graveyard scene in 6x15, we watched a heartbroken Eddie decide that he was going to try to move on from Buck.
Everything we saw up until then was an Eddie that was clearly in love with Buck. Not only that, but all of their scenes together showed us an Eddie who was giving Buck each of his canonically stated needs and wants in a relationship, beat by fucking beat.
In 6x11, we have a grieving Eddie who stands vigil, waiting for Buck to wake up. Eddie has always been the partner who stayed - never fleeing when things get bad - the epitome of someone who decides to try, even when the other person is at their worst.
In 6x12, Eddie is presented as Buck's only safe place, opening his home and life to him without hesitation. Eddie is the only place where Buck feels comfortable enough to be himself, to rest, and not feel like he has to change himself to fit into someone else's expectations. Eddie, in his actions, in his words and silences, clearly demonstrates that he Sees Buck.
in 6x13, Eddie and Chris are shown as Buck's family, the partner and child he's always wanted, and they're not something he found - they're a family that they built together. Buck, through them, has a made a family that stays. Not to mention, the poker date in this episode shows an Eddie that knows exactly what Buck needs to have a joyful night, and as much as we joke about Eddie being terrible at dates, he sure knocks this one out of the park. We've never seen either of them on a date where they're both so relaxed, both so clearly and uncomplicatedly having a good time.
In 6x14, we have an Eddie who, very clearly, doesn't want to date someone else. Both Bobby and Pepa talk about Eddie being alone, about Eddie and Chris not being enough as a team, just the two of them - but both us, the audience, and Eddie, were shown the very episode prior that this simply isn't the case. I have a longer argument about this point, but I think that Bobby's conversation in particular made Eddie decide that he was going to find out for certain if Buck was on the same page as him, because, up until then, it sure seems like he was.
And then 6x15. The conversation with Buck seemed to blindside Eddie; his expression when Buck says "she sees me," illustrates this the best. As Eddie listens to Buck, it becomes clear to him, and us, that Buck doesn't understand that Eddie has already filled the roles of what Buck is looking for in a partner. And I think, in that moment, he decided he needed to protect his own heart. That if Buck couldn't see it, after all of the events of this season (which were just even more obvious repetitions of how Eddie has been these things for Buck already, throughout their entire relationship, now stronger than ever), he might not ever see it.
And who can blame Eddie for deciding that it was time to try and date again? He runs into Marisol, a person that he barely knows, that as far as we've seen on screen, hasn't had any kind of connection with - and what better option than that? She's so low-risk; if she says no, or yes, it wouldn't crush Eddie. Not in the same way that not having Buck would, and is, already crushing him.
Do you remember when Abby first asked Buck out on a date and he said no? Because she was special, and he didn't want to risk loosing her? How much more important is Buck to Eddie at this point? Exponentially. And I think, in a way, Eddie is actually following his heart, here - because he thinks Buck might never love him back in the same way, he decides to protect it. I think Eddie hopes he can find something good with someone else. Maybe something less complicated, something light and fun, something that doesn't run the risk of completely breaking his heart. Honestly, if I were Eddie, I'd be spinning in my living room when Marisol said yes, too.
The point of all of this is to say: I think Buck will realize how he's wrong, and I think he'll realize what we have all been clearly shown: Eddie is the right couch, Eddie is his family that stays, Eddie loves and sees him for exactly who he is, without compromise. But Eddie doesn't know that - can't know that, for sure - and he's going to try to make the best of his heartbreak until that time comes.

I think this is the problem with the blatant queerbaiting. There are *choices* being made and it’s hard to ignore. I fully agree with this post but I’m also trying to fully process why I’m disappointed. It really just echoes the fact that the writers dug themselves into a hole. Regardless, I love this show, I love the characters, I love the actors. Being disappointed that we didn’t get a buddie make out sesh, just shows how much I love this show and how invested I am.
no one is saying that you can't be disappointed that the episode didn't include something you wanted to see, but the fact that so many of you seem unable to take a step back from that and recognize the phenomenal performances by the actors and the beautiful story they crafted around buck and his relationship with himself (and with bobby) , just shows a lot of immaturity, and its frustrating to see people trying to ruin the episode for everyone involved just because you didn't get what you wanted.

BUDDIE SONG FROM 6x01
NOT ONLY IS THAT SONG “LA IS LONELY” IN 6x01 BY RICKY MANNING BUDDIE-FUL...
LET ME JUST ALSO ADD that he also has a song called TSUNAMI....freakin’ TSUNAMI. These are the lyrics:
Say what you will, but I've only grown still from your touch
Say what you want, but I've given my heart for our luck
But something comes over and closer from inside your love
No matter how guarded up, you will always be enough
BYEEEEEE

buddie fun fact
i don’t think anyone’s talked about this yet but the scene from the season 6 premiere with buddie in buck’s kitchen has a very particular song playing in the background. the song is called “LA is Lonely” by Ricky Manning. it’s a great song and i recognized it instantly but realized nobody’s mentioned it. Ricky was on The Voice and i kept up with his career after he was eliminated and this was one of the song’s released post-show. i think it’s hilarious how an obscure song like this is being played during a scene with buck, eddie and christopher having a family moment in buck’s kitchen.

ryan and oliver
still convinced this is all a publicity stunt in favor of buddie build up. they pay attention to us and knew we’d go nuts when ryan and oliver unfollowed each other. not to mention the fact that they unfollowed each other around the same time. if you got beef with someone, you don’t unfollow that person until you realize later they unfollowed you. ryan and oliver don’t seem petty like that. it was definitely orchestrated so that we would stop talking about them..but they didn’t realize it only made us want buddie more HAHAHA

let’s not pretend like they didn’t look distant presenting that award lol. it’s a true testament to their acting skills for the performances they’ve been giving. i’m sure we’d have a canon make-out sesh at this point if they were still friends.

9-1-1 Season 5 Theories
Season 5 is series finale
There’ll be a huge tragedy/natural disaster
Eddie changing his will so that Buck can be Christopher’s legal guardian if he dies actually sets him up to be killed off in the series finale so that this can happen
Albert becoming a firefighter also sets up Chimney’s death in series finale
We’ll see Buck and Maddie raise Christopher and Jee-Yun together in contrast to how they were poorly raised by their parents
This time, Buck will get really hurt, and we’ll see Eddie react to that
Ana will be written off and won’t be in this season. In the premiere, Eddie will simply say they’re not dating anymore, like how Buck mentions Ali in the season 3 premiere
Athena and Bobby retires together in the series finale
Lonestar crossover will feature character interactions we haven’t seen yet (Maddie and Grace having a mom moment, Marjan and Buck doing something dangerous together)
Taylor will get an huge opportunity and will break up with Buck. They’ll have another “running away” conversation (”i’m chasing my dreams, i’m not running away.”)
We’ll get another female firefighter in the 118

The writers are cornering themselves (Buddie bullet points)
Tim says Eddie’s too pretty to kill off, but he needed plot
Prob the reason why we saw so little of Eddie in season 4′s promo material
The writers don’t know what to do with Ana
Her character felt forced because Eddie needed scenes, but he didn’t fit into any of the other major plotlines of season 4
Ana didn’t do much for Eddie and Christopher’s characters–arguably getting them out of character
She also didn’t do anything useful this season except call Buck to let him know Eddie was awake (he waited for Buck to be there before facetiming Christopher)
In every scenario, Buck adds compelling story to Eddie’s lack of plot
At this point, there’s no way the writers can introduce a new love interest that would make sense for buddie. It’s too late. Buddie is committed to Buddie.
Taylor is best case scenario for Buck outside of Eddie.
Taylor would actually make a great love interest for Buck if Eddie didn’t exist
Taylor’s there to distract us from Buddie and also to help put Buck’s character development into words (”i spent a long time feeling i wasn’t enough, and i don’t wanna do that anymore”)
Buddie wasn’t supposed to happen, but Oliver and Ryan’s chemistry is too electric (despite whatever beef they have going on BTS)
I think collectively we all know that Eddie/Ana isn’t gonna last. With that said, either Buddie progresses further in season 5 or Buck/Taylor is endgame, cuz no one else and no one new will make sense

THIS. how else are they gonna guarantee our viewership for season 5′s premiere!!!
like, to be clear, i'm a Canon Buddie Truther but i don't think they'll actually get together until 5B. I think if something happens during the finale, it'll point us in that direction but I don't think they're just gonna start making out on the hospital bed lmao
