i have some thoughts too
i totally agree, sse seem to spend time on aspects of the game only they want to do, or what a small group of the community wants. im not saying that's a totally bad thing, i just personally feel like there should be a balance of input from the players and the devs. of course they can't take everyone's suggestions but lately it does seem like their decisions are ones to make money but they were very ineffective (i.e The Candle).
and it's not like they can't do the suggestions. for example players have asked for an update to dino valley from like 2015; we can see they can do this because of the hollow woods update which the community loved and rightfully so
also many players would like more frequent quests that are longer, add to the game and frankly - are interesting. of course over the history of a game there are going to be inevitable changes to the plot and storytelling, but im not sure that it should be like this. personally i feel like quests have truly become an afterthought. money-making aspects such as new horses and tack sets seem to be the focus. that's not a bad thing, there is no balance between the two
lastly, the community is what makes the game. that's literally it. im not saying sse should give in to our every whim, but if they want to maintain the player base (let alone increase it) they must listen to the community more. like i said there needs to be a balance between their input and our listened input. i know the devs are making an effort and for that im truly thankful, im just not always sure if it's the right effort

SSO, Please Listen to Your Community - a rant

I am in no way a game dev or an owner of a business. I am sure it is hard on SSO to manage their company and update things. I have done no research prior to this rant, this is simply based upon my (and other players’) observations and complaints about the game.
That being said; I have played SSO for three years, and kept up with the game’s updates way before I began playing. I believe I know fairly well how the game works and how it has evolved over the years I’ve known of it.
Now that I feel I’ve covered my ass enough to complain about SSO, let’s go!!
the yapping (the rant)
I have seen so many times over all of SSO’s existence players begging for the game devs to add something. So many players will beg for one thing for a while, possibly even years, but nothing but content we didn’t ask for or even want is uploaded to the game. So my question- and many others’- is why?
Why does SSO refuse to listen to their community? It’s something I genuinely have been wanting to understand. I don’t see any downsides. If SSO listens to their community, they could probably have happier players and more money spent (bc we know that’s all they want), and possibly even more players.
This could be my own personal preference, but I always look for games with a community. Especially games with a sort of niche idea (good horse games are few and far between). The devs and how they interact with their players is a massive part of the community! If I were to see that workers on a game listened to their community and took interest in their own players/customers, I'd be very intrigued! Especially with the mostly tight-woven community SSO already has. For me, the community is a massive part of a game and how much I enjoy it. And SSO is an MMORPG, whose main aspect is ONLINE GAMEPLAY. It's about playing with other people.
