Making the dead Poe Ranpoe AU even worse :D

If I missed any TWs, please tell me so I can add them!
So, recently I got an idea for a Ranpoe fanfic. It's based on the idea of Poe dying and Ranpo not being able to solve the case, but with a few twists to make it even worse. Also, I'm sorry if this doesn't make any sense, I honestly don't fully know what I'm doing myself, but I still am planning on writing this at some point. When I actually write this as a real fanfic, it'll probably make more sense-
It could be either one that died. If Poe died, like with most other dead Poe fanfics I've seen, Ranpo wouldn't be able to solve Poe's case. If Ranpo died, Poe would have a reaction similar to Ranpo's, however he may feel even worse than Ranpo. I can imagine him falling back into the beliefs of Ranpo and his rivalry, and that Ranpo is better than him. He might think that Ranpo would have been able to solve his own murder if he was killed, while Poe couldn't solve Ranpo's.
Whoever is killed dies in their partner's arms, while their partner is screaming and crying and can't get help.
To make the previous ideas even worse, after all of that, the dead partner comes back in a fit of blind rage as a vengeful spirit (they may be mad at both themself and the living partner, for letting themself get so close to their rival and letting their guard down). Was this inspired by what Korekiyo's sister did to his spirit? Possibly.
The one who dies haunts the living partner and terrorizes them while their trying to solve the mystery. The one trying to solve the mystery mental state becomes worse and worse, and the people around them can tell. The people around them notice, and people begin believing that the detective is a maniac obsessively trying to solve an unsolvable case.
Eventually, after their living partner has been ridiculed by others for a while, the dead partner starts beginning to see their wrongdoings. They begin trying to fix things; however, it is too late.
The living partner is no longer living. The living partner, due to everything happening around them, commits die as the original dead partner watches in horror and tries to stop them.
The once living partner is now, like the dead partner, a spirit. Now, they are both stuck together. The og dead partner stays away for awhile, before trying to talk to the once living partner, only to get pushed away.
If I don't decide to end the fic there, the rest of the fic would be about trying to fix what has been broken and heal the relationship (there probably would be a lot of talk about what is actually a healthy relationship versus what is toxic). Depending on how I feel, I either going to be very upset at myself because I'm sad or very upset at myself because I have put more work on myself.

If anybody has any ideas on this or things I should change, please let me know :)
Also, I don't know who I want the og one to die to be- their are pros and cons for doing Ranpo and pros and cons for doing Poe, so I honestly don't know what to do. If anybody has any ideas for who should be who, please tell me!
