Hi! Sorry to bother you but I just wanted to say that I love ur animatics so much!!! Like with army dreamers and Hansel I love the songs choices so much and the designs are so cool!!! If it’s no big deal, I’ve also been meaning to get into making an animatic and was wondering if you have any tips?

hello, thank you so much!! i’m glad you enjoy my animatics!! and don’t worry, you aren’t bothering me at all, i love when ppl ask me stuff. :)

i’ll be very real — most of the time, i am just slapping things together until they look decent LOL.

i honestly don’t even use a good program for making animatics, and it’s a very tricky thing to do and is incredibly time consuming. however!! i can share some things that may help, art-wise for the most part.

make sure you’re keeping things moving. i usually try not to have the same frame on screen for more than a few seconds, as i feel like it could get boring if there isn’t much going on or much to look at. even if you’re just adding stuff to the same frame, that’s still making a change to it and just making it more interesting to look at.

i’ve found that color choices keep things interesting as well. sure, animatics in black and white can be just as interesting. but i like to add color to mine, especially to form some kind of symbolism within the frames (which i reeeeally enjoy doing). you could even fully color yours instead of using colored lineart (unfortunately i’m too lazy for that).

make sure you have the time to be working on these projects! i usually clear up a whole day just to work on mine and it takes me hours just to make a 30 second animatic. of course if you think you won’t lose interest in working on it, definitely do it over as many days as you think you’ll need! i personally get and lose motivation very quickly, so i tend to just do it all as quickly as i can before i lose interest in it and it stays as a WIP forever. (however, this may not be the best thing to do so please do take breaks and do it at your own pace. everyone’s different!)
