wittle baizhu stumbling upon a copy of rex incognito and reading through it, learning how morax could shapeshift and change his characteristics however he desired. where once he saw morax as some immortal being that no human could possibly relate to, he suddenly found a familiarity, a comfort, in him. taking his book out to the statue of seven near liyue harbor and, instead of praying, reading it out loud to him to practice his reading skills. telling the god how he found comfort in his stories, mentioning how much he’d like to meet him and thank him and tell him how important he is to him. he wasn’t sure if the gods could hear him, but he always spoke until his voice gave out just in case

growing up and it still being his comfort spot, going for a walk and sitting underneath the statue of seven for old times sakes. his copy of rex incognito is worn and old, rebound over and over again and stained in various tea stains. after striking up a budding relationship with zhongli, inviting him on a walk to the statue to introduce him to an “old friend”. telling him how much morax meant to him, how he saw himself in him and how much he appreciated that. showing him his old childhood book, laughing about how terrible it looked, telling him about all the stains and showing the notes he had made in it.

and zhongli just… staring up at the statue as he listened. he was known for protecting liyue and his contracts, but this… this was something entirely new that he had never thought of. wondering for a moment, how many had found comfort in him all these years. quietly taking baizhu’s hand and kissing him on the knuckles, adoration and love in his eyes for this man. a secret he’d keep to himself, for the time being, purely out of selfishness for that warmth blossoming in his chest

since i'm bored and have nothing better to do, i would love to share some of my personal favorite chiluc headcanons.

autistic diluc x audhd childe... diluc having a special interest in birds and childe having a special interest in marine biology.

childe collects bird feathers he finds on his travels for diluc, just to give the redhead an excuse to infodump to him.

speaking of info dumping, diluc is extremely shy when it comes to info dumping. the moment he realizes he's info dumping, he shuts it down instantly. this frustrates childe to no end, because he's never seen such a genuine sparkle in diluc's eyes like he does when diluc is rambling about bird facts to him.

diluc is terrified of rain and thunder, while childe is terrified of darkness.

when it comes to sleeping, diluc is more refined (in his words) and prefers spooning. childe, on the other hand, starfishes over diluc.

childe has a bad habit of collecting little nick-nacks and souvenirs that he doesn't need while traveling around teyvat. in return, the dawn winery has slowly started to fill up with these souvenirs that childe insists on collecting. diluc frequently lectures and scolds him for it, saying he's "cluttering up the winery"... yet still keeps the random little nick-nacks childe brings home.

speaking of bringing home nick-nacks, diluc frequently teases childe about it. he says childe reminds him an awful lot of certain bird species that decorate their nests with items to attract mates. the ginger always responds with an indignant huff and a mumbled "i don't do that."
