This panel is so, so, sosososo important imo. I feel like many people don’t realize this about him.

They take his simple-mindedness and confuse it with a death wish when, really, the opposite is true.

Fights, for him, are fun and should always be fun. They should be about proving one’s strength. Fights to the death are an entirely different matter, and he’s mature enough to realize that.

But, even so, he’s going to fight with all he’s got to protect their future.

ESPECIALLY the episode where they made fun of him for not knowing how to read! I wanted to punch Erza out of the picture and grab Natsu, hug him, and say "I'll teach you how to read, and I'LL TEACH EVERYONE OF YOU TO BE NICE." -while glaring at ever single person in the guild- and scold them like a disappointed mother >:(
