Sorry, I really didn't mean to offend, or engage in "discourse" I was just adding on to your point. Didn't know it would be an unwelcome subject! Just saw a post in the Christianity tag and wanted to add to it... sorry again
It's okay lol I've just never gotten Bible literary analysis in my inbox and got confused

huh? I wasn't disagreeing with you, I agree that that is one interpretation of the Parable. But for someone who is already trans-affirming, it is an incomplete interpretation. I didn't mean to offend. It is just an interesting thing to discuss...you should always be open to parables being explained from other perspectives! Parables are designed to be viewed from many angles...
Sorry. I had a knee jerk reaction and assumed it was hate. Which is ironically exactly what the parable is saying not to do....
It came off initially a bit like you didn't think I understood what the parable was about, which was a bit confusing. But even though I know the meaning and significance of what Jesus said, I haven't thought about the perspective of the Samaritan or put myself in his shoes. So I appreciate the challenge :)
Sorry for being rude!

tbh the parable of the good Samaritan can be applied to anyone that society views as utterly despicable and morally wrong, shunned by those he was preaching to... unfortunately, that includes anyone from child abusers to only fans models to fentanyl dealers the parable of the good Samaritan is designed to challenge us. so to a TERF or transphobe, the parable of the good trans guy/girl is a fair interpretation. but to someone who is already trans accepting, a more accurate interpretation would be the good TERF. That is part of what makes it such a hard parable to teach, is that we all hear the story and think "oh yeah, I would help them!" or "I would be gracious if they offered to help me" but fail to consider how the parable translates to our own lives. Are there people you would rather died than help them? Are there people you would rather yourself die than accept help from?
I really think that he meant that there's nothing wrong with being trans OR a Samaritan, but they're still very marginalized and oppressed by society. That's literally what he said in class. I'm sorry if people were offended by this because I wasn't clear enough. Jesus didn't hate Samaritans but he was talking to someone that did. Regardless, I don't really want to get into Bible discourse with people lol so I'm not going to address this any further
Edit: Are you trying to explain the parable of the Good Samaritan to me? I understand that it's about how anybody is capable of doing good. The whole point of the story is loving people you don't understand or agree with

My philosophy professor said in class today that if Jesus was around today, the Parable of the Good Samaritan would be the Parable of the Good Trans Guy

I can't believe I used to like arguing with people online. The last time I thought someone was unhappy with me online I made a whole new account. I used to be fighting with people on discord servers and then acting like nothing happened 20 minutes later? Crazy

Every time I want to watch something, I have to google what streaming service it's on, and half the time it's not on any of the 7 platforms my parents pay like $100 a month for and the only options are to pirate it off some sketchy website that'll give your computer viruses or to pay $15 on Apple TV
